Guest Reviews
- L16AMmaria (10/5): Excellent service and heartfelt hospitality! - I had a pleasant ten-days stay at the Himalayaa hotel. My room was a decent size, clean and comfortable. The Hill view room with air-condition and free Wi-Fi, supplied daily with bottled water, tea & coffie. The food was very tasty, generous portions. Staff were very friendly, helpful and caring. Attentive and polite Security personel. Late checkout or early checkin allowed. Everything went perfect in this hotel. Recommended for stay anytime if you visit Thiruvanamalai.
- 19raniv (10/5): Good stay - Good hotel. Not very far from the start for girivalam.
Hotel staffs very accommodating
Big room . Had fan and air con Options for comfort
- MaheshTRamadass (8/5): Great Staff - Small but decent rooms. The staff are very courteous and helpful. The staff are the biggest plus for this property. Food is good. Buffet dinner at Rs. 399 is value for money.
Covered Car park is not available. About 4 small cars can be parked at the end of a narrow drive way.
Property is not near the temple..
- muniswaranm (10/5): Nice place to stay - Good place to stay which is located nearby bus station and even can start girivalam from hotel. About 2km distance to Tiruvannamalai temple. Nice and decent south indian breakfast. Fast check in/out and it's important that reasonable charges in room dining. Their restaurant chef very helpful who willing to take our last order when we to rush for dinner due to late darshan.
- heidiveraa (10/5): Best hotel in Tiruvannamalai - This is the best hotel to stay in when you visit Tiruvannamalai! The reception staff are very attentive and helped my group from Australia with every request.
The rooms are very clean and comfortable and the food is very good in the restaurant. Mr Rasool and his team could not do more for us. It really is a welcome oasis from the chaos of this holy city.
Huge thank you to all the staff, we will be back next year!

- ramanan_12 (8/5): Great Place to stay in Thiruvannamalai - Spacious well furnished rooms with lovely view of Annamalai. Just 4 km from the Temple. Parking available. The best part of the hotel was its staff who were very courteous and willing to attend to you in a jiffy. Food was excellent especially the lavish complimentary breakfast and also the north indian cuisine. Overall a pleasant stay.
- manojprabhakarisb (6/5): Good rooms but you will regret staying there - If you don't find any other hotels in Tiruvannamalai, have this as last option.
1. Rooms : Good and spacious room
2. Room service: Request something, wait for hours together ending up not getting anything. Had this experience twice.
3. Car parking: Good
4. Breakfast: No coordination between front desk and hotel staffs. Rude hotel staff.
5. Accessibility: Near to Esanya Lingam.
6. Lifts: Yes
- Malathi (8/5): - The room was clean but the toilet facility needs to be more cleaner. A bucket will be handy for the senior citizens.
- Narasimhan (2/5): - room space too small when we book more than 360sqft my bedroom is 240sqft in my house , compare to my bedroom is too small but when we book your people also show in 360sqft.
- Rajan (8/5): - Staff were very courteous and Food was good and homely
- Pardhasaradhi (8/5): - Good , enjoyed stay and food too
- Pardhasaradhi (8/5): Neat ,clean and comfortable Himalaya - Himalaya is a well maintained, neat and clean comfortable Hotel in Tiruvannamalai . Restaurant food ( veg) is very tasty and reasonably priced too.
- Guru600040 (8/5): Good Clean Expensive Room! - Clean and well kept room. Fresh smell, Calm, Comfortable (Bath & Bed). Nice Lifts and corridors! Good Car-Park. Did not use any food & drinks. Expensive for the town!
Always book directly with the Hotel and check what you booking is given.
Beware of catch in the online rebates. Remember - there is no free lunch, rebates remove or twist the booking!
- Krysh61 (6/5): Just above average.. - For the price - room is nothing great.
Bathroom is well designed, but not shining ( again for the price you pay ).
I am saying well designed, because the shower area is well enclosed with glass. When one person takes bath, it will not splash water on the commode or make the bathroom wet. Although a dry bathroom, it is not very clean and shining. Just above average.
Commode is placed very high.
We took premium room - very spacious. You can put a third bed and there will still be enough space to walk or move around.
Beautiful view of Mountain from hotel room.
Food - Garlic party.
Everything has garlic. Someone should educate them about this being a temple town and how nice it will be to offer sattvic food - without garlic and onion.
Even vada has garlic.
Chutney has garlic.
I think their main ingrediant is garlic, everything else comes after it.
Avoid the restaurant if possible.
We stayed for a night - for a single night, this is an ok place.
Not a sooper clean place for the price you pay, but just okay.
They should consider reducing the price for offering such just above average rooms.
- Vedictraveller (6/5): Good hill view but needs few improvements - We go to Tiruvannamalai for quiet ambience. This place does not provide that based on my experience. Lobby was noisy till 11pm. Rooms could not be locked from inside (hotel staff can enter with masterkey anytime). No safety latch or chain lock. Restroom did not have air circulation or exhaust (cieling) vent. Was stinking. Parking is cramped and hence had to park in adjacent land. No way to wash your car in that land as there were no taps.
- Ashoklawyer (10/5): Superb Service - Checked in to this hotel on 10th November 2019. Nice ambience. Car park available. A good vegetarian restaurant. Nice rooms. Clean maintenance. This hotel gains 4 stars for the excellent service provided by the entire staff. Disabled friendly entry. Overall a good stay.
- 68ganeshb (2/5): Terrible!! - Hopeless hotel. Don't get fooled by the wonderful photos on the website! far cry from actual. Booked 2 rooms for 2 days, costing over £200. One of the rooms was sticking of urine that one of our group members vomitted! Argued and got the rooms changed. We didn't want to stay there for the second night due to the condition of the hotel and they wouldn't give a refund! But it was better to lose over £100 than actually stay there! Wouldn't recommend this place. Am surprised that it has got good reviews. I wouldn't trust them.
- pampanu (6/5): Average hotel - the hotel was just average. Food was adequate. Not very clean towels. Bed lumpy. The location is good to see the temple. Reception staff need to learn how to deal with foreign guests including Indians from abroad.
- 424al (10/5): Awesome vegetarian food. - We didn’t stay at hotel Himalayaa but stopped here for lunch. We were on a South Indian tour & have come all the way from Australia. We were nearly given up our hopes in finding good vegetarian food with actual vegetables in it😏 Thanks to our driver Moorthy from SVT holidays who recommended this place. We were blown away by the hearty vegetarian thali we had. It was so good & had a good variety of vegetarian curries. The chef was around checking the food & talking with the customers. Wish I told him how good the food was. It was the best South Indian meal I had during my stay in India. The staff were very prompt & the portion size was very appropriate. Thank you for the delicious meal :)
- Karthi1971-opinion (10/5): Excellent property in a laid-back Temple town - We stayed in Hotel Himalaya for a day (Jun 10-11 '2019) as we visited this holy town to seek the blessings of Lord Siva. We had blocked two rooms as we were a family of 4 adults. The reception was accommodative to allot us adjacent rooms which made our life easy. This hotel has a fantastic vegetarian restaurant and the food quality was very good. Our rooms were quite clean and hygienic. The rooms service was very good . In fact this property was a pleasant surprise to us in that small town . On the whole , the stay was peaceful and I would strongly recommend this property to all the visitors of Thiruvannamalai.
- Moge76 (6/5): Nice hotel - Nice clean hotel. Wifi is very poor at the room. NO wifi at the lobby. Nice breakfast and lunch. They serve hot puri. Nearby main road. A few shop to window shopping and near to Anand Bhawan Restaurant.
- Lacy_DL (8/5): Good hotel in Tiruvannamalai - We are group of 8 family members had good stay at Hotel Himalayaa, Tiruvannamalai. The rooms are clean and spacious. AC was working fine. The front office reception staffs are polite and very helpful.
- Kembhootha (8/5): Good place.. - Excellent rooms, comfortable beds, clean bathrooms. Limited closed parking space ( for about 5-6 cars ), the rest will have to park outside ( uncovered ) - but safe to park. Staff is very courteous and kind enough to allow us an extra hour or so without extra charges. If you are coming from the Chennai side, then certainly well located for you. If you are coming from the Bangalore side, you have to cross the entire town/city. Not at a walkable distance from the temple or ashram.
But the staff and the neat rooms more than make it a very comfortable stay.
- Mys3 (8/5): good hotel - Very big room . Slightly outdated but clean . Breakfast was good, very delicious- loved the chutnies and waiters were very friendly .
Check in too was very smooth.
Visited the famous thiruvannamalai temple. Short distance from this hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - we took two rooms that had a interconnecting doors, which made our children’s run between the rooms.
- SR (10/5): - The hotel was clean, had good parking and was well furnished
- Lahiri66 (8/5): Centrally Located & Ticks All The Box - For a 3 star hotel in this pilgrimage town, this hotel is a very good stay. Room was quiet and comfortable. Service was simple but good while Wifi and TV channels good. Breakfast was a humble fare but no complains here.
Only catch is the pathway leading up to the hotel is paved with uneven stone pieces. Most pilgrims who return after the 14 kms walk end up hurting their feet walking to the hotel entrance. The castors on the bags too get damaged if you drag them on this uneven and unpleasant pathway.
- BabuVittal (10/5): Home coming experience! - neat rooms, just needed facilities, warm staff and amazing service. Quality of food and overall hygiene is awesome. We came in when the hotel had few VVIP guests and they did not drop the ball. All were treated with equal warmth, respect and sincerity.
- ericakhurana (8/5): Average - Room with Thiruvannaamalai view. Awesome. Great moments. Can request for such room. We got it co- incidentally.
Restaurant was clean. Good breakfast.Good service. Satisfied.
During dinner, the server provided us with misleading info abt the food we ordered.
Room was average only. We used our own towels, bed spread and pillow case. Amenities were dissappointing. Only shower cap was provided. Others upon request.
We requested for extra bed. The mattress was very thin and uncomfortable. Had to manage with it.
May come back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The rooms were very spacious and clean. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom was very modern, and the combination of a fan and A/C helped me set a comfortable temperature in the room.
The staff was very kind. They were helpful and always available. Staff in the restaurant were very friendly, and helped me choose the right Indian meals.
It was really nice to not have to worry about anything, as all was taken care of and all needs immediately met.
- Narayana (10/5): - We’ve stayed there for a day....the check in was done faster and the rooms were clean and cozy....the food we’ve ordered for dinner was also decent...staff were courteous and the overall stay was comfortable but Wifi dint work 😝
- Gunasekaran (8/5): Nice hotel at Thiruvannamalai - Nice hotel to stay with family at Thiruvannamalai. Nice Reception, courteous staff and Room. Good Morning South Indian Buffet breakfast with Idly, Dosa, Pongal, Vada, Poori etc. But the only irritant we had is some bad odour in bathroom inspite of its cleanliness. That if the Hotel Management addresses permanently ir will be the best hotel to stay in Thiruvannamalai.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Close to the sacred Arunachellam Lord Siva Temple - Close to Temple and Adyar Anand Bhavan.....on main road. Quiet hotel with friendly staff.
- Parvathi (10/5): Great Service - the only flaw is that the toilet smelt of urine and the bed was not firm and noisy.
- Ratnasabapathy (10/5): - Great stay. Helpful staff..
- Kumar (10/5): At the foothills of Arunachala - Simply awed and surprised at the excellent location, friendly staff, very tasty food, great breakfast spread, very comfortable rooms. The overall experience was congruent to serenity of the town.
Learnt a new greeting.... "Happy morning", "Happy evening"... which was pleasent surprise and very pleasing. They should copyright it.
Very happy.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Quite ok - Food is great but needs to improve on cleanliness
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff as very nice and Room is clean and Hotel maintained very well.
- Sebastian (4/5): - The rooms were not ready when we checked in. Wi-fi connection was down through out our 2 days stay. There was no mini- bar as published in their room facilities and the toilets were smelly
- Christina (10/5): Ease at Arunanchala - We were welcomed with a lovely refreshing grape juice. From that moment forward our stay was smooth. Our room had a nice view of the mountain with a quiet green area outside. The shower was great. Lots of hot water and great pressure. The breakfast was by far the best we have experienced in South India. The most flavorful chutneys! Staff was courteous and attentive.
- RAMESH (10/5): comfortable - nice to stay
- Srivatsan (10/5): Modern hotel with excellent facilities - You wouldn't find anything to complain about with the hotel - excellent amenities, great rooms, working facilities and above all very helpful and smiling staff.
.
I booked in Expedia and thought I was already charged for the stay but that wasn't the case. It was a bit strange! I had to pay at the hotel.
