Guest Reviews
- Todd (2/5): Wouldn’t recommend or ever stay here again - Location was convenient On night 2 of our stay, we discovered ant infestation, as dozens of ants were emerging from underneath the bed. We had to purchase bug spray in the middle of night to counteract this. The office wasn’t open to report this when we checked out this morning
- Caitlynn (8/5): -
- Birthe (1/5): - Location good close to town. No breakfast available. Staff never checked on room for 4 nights. Had to empty garbage and go beg for clean towels every day which were carefully counted. Towels were stained, small and many woornedout. Room and outside smelled like sewer. It was very warm and muggy so the smell was overwhelming.
- Michael (8/5): Comfortable - Price was right Clean
- Michael (1/5): - Nothing very dated No heat mattress was on a plywood box talked to owner to fix it and he hung up on me
- Mitzi (3/5): - Location to get to Skaneateles The room smelled like a very heavy perfume smell like you could taste it it was so heavy. The bathroom was cold and the toilet was cracked it looked like the basket had to stay under the sink on case it leaked. No plug to plug in a hairdryer or anything. The floor had a spot like a hole was covered. The heater was very hot you could burn yourself if you weren't careful. If you didn't bring your own water you had to pay for the water in the fridge $1.00 because they say don't drink the tap water. It wasn't very clean. The picture of the room is not what we seen on the site. The freezer was nasty it looks like mold or something in it.
- Jason (8/5): -
- George (10/5): - My wife and I had business in Skaneateles and found the motel to be just what we needed for a simple overnight stay - clean, comfortable, convenient location at a reasonable price!
The “check in” was very easy and the family that runs it was very friendly and helpful - even when I lost my room key!
Thank you! We’d stay there again! 👍
- Gerald (4/5): - For the price of $183 a night I was expecting more. Room was clean and I felt comfortable that the linens were as well. The bathroom was small and in need of several updates. There was also a distinct foul smell there. I would not return to this motel.
- Chris (7/5): -
- Michele (10/5): - Pet friendly. Comfortable and clean. Staff was friendly and helpful.
- Gretchen (8/5): - Everything work
- Clarke (8/5): - No exercise facilities. Maps took us a remarkably circuitous route to get there.
- carlacaccavale (2/5): Really disappointing experience, horrible bathrooms - We booked two rooms (one room and one was considered an apartment) for parents weekend at Syracuse University. Clearly it is a very busy time in the area and this was the closest and really only option left by the time we made reservations. The bathrooms are dated and moldy. The bathroom towels are subpar at best (thankfully I had packed some). The fire detector in our room was missing, wires hanging out from the ceiling, which is a MAJOR issue. We were not in the room much, so I didn’t notice this until night two. When we were checking out, no one was in the office to report this. So I called the next day and the manager — instead of taking any responsibility — said I should have reported it sooner. How about doing a through check of rooms to prevent major safety issues? The living room in apartment one (AKA room 18) was spacious. The ceiling in the bathroom had a major leak and was peeling. And the mold was so gross we didn’t even shower the day we were leaving, it was such a turnoff. The phone in room 12 was absolutely disgusting and filthy. Take a look at the photos, they tell the story.
- Richard (4/5): - Shabby cheap fixtures and tv.
Bathroom barely passable
Bed sheets were like sandpaper
- Michael (10/5): - Nice people - easy check in and clean room.
- Kathryn (10/5): - Excellent!
- Patricia (6/5): - What I liked: price was reasonable/less than nearby towns; proximity to family events in Auburn was perfect; amenities (refrigerator, coffee pot, TV) were good; vintage bathroom was charming
What I didn't like: no or inconsistent hot water in sink and shower; water had a 'funny' color (not clear and colorless); tub drain backed up immediately so must've been clogged with hair/other debris from previous guests
- philip (4/5): - Unable to easily contact front desk. Even their ring doorbell was ineffective. Trouble with hot water blend in the shower. Had to ask for fresh towels. Etc. Etc
- Robert (4/5): - clean room, difficult tv to operate, no water(WELL) didn't work?
- Kathy (4/5): DONT STAY HERE! - There is not much to like about it. It’s run down, smells bad, really outdated. It’s not very clean, the toilet ran constantly until the water stopped completely! We went to the office to tell them and it turns out the whole property was without any water. We couldn’t even flush the toilet. The person in the office brought us 6 little bottles of water. Not enough to even flush the toilet. For $189 for one night. Do NOT STAY HERE. Owner said he would discount our stay but he didn’t.
- James (8/5): - I was arriving later than I thought and owner was very accomodating. The inn was very quiet and I got a nice night’s sleep. It is very reasonably priced.
- Paul (10/5): -
- Jason (10/5): - We got the apt. Seemed clean, close enough to town to be convenient.
- Qiqin (1/5): -
- David (4/5): - If I would pay 80-90$ per night then fine, I would know what to expect. But I paid 199$. I expected descent conditions. The place was dirty, dust on the floor. The smell in the room was horrible - strong cheap perfume, probably from the laundry. The water in the bathtub didn’t drain properly and left an unpleasant puddle around my feet during the shower.
The photos on the website didn’t match the actual experience. Again — if I were paying $80–90, that’s what I would expect to get. But not for $200. True, it’s still relatively inexpensive, but it’s still $200 — and for that price you can deliver much more value.
There were no available power outlets in the room — I had to move the bed just to find one. The old AC unit made an unpleasant noise. The tap water had a terrible taste; we didn’t drink it, of course, but even brushing our teeth with it was pretty shocking.
One of the lamps was flickering like it was about to burn out, so I just turned it off. The toilet paper in the bathroom was whatever was left from the previous guest — a partially used roll. Not exactly pleasant.
Bottom line, not the best experience...
- John (8/5): - Very adequate - convenient to Skaneateles Lake
- Lynne (8/5): - I got ill and the mgr refunded my last night’s stay. Comparing the inn to nearby places, it’s a place to rest for a reasonable amount of money and close to the lake.
- Linda (8/5): - Clean but very outdated
- Terry (9/5): -
- leslie (8/5): good for a few nights - I would describe this place as adequate. Certainly not upscale, but comfortable enough for a few nights. Not great water pressure, but the room was clean and the bed comfortable
- Deborah (8/5): - Nice place. Good price. Loud roads but otherwise a good night sleep. Great for a rest after a long day traveling.
- Daniel (8/5): - Worst shower I have ever seen. Pressure and temp. changed at random.
- Wicks (7/5): - The pool was nice No water pressure and the noise coming from the room next door was unacceptable
- Louise (8/5): - it was ok. Not great but clean.
- Matthew (10/5): - Stayed here after a show at Beak and Skiff
- Della (8/5): - Good for a quick overnight on the road. Well priced, beautiful area. Pretty vintage tiles in the bathroom.
- Ralph (10/5): A clean bargain! - The cleanest motel I’ve ever been in! Although this is a very modest propriety that hasn’t been updated, it is well maintained and well attended to. Very affordable and well located. Support small businesses and independent properties!
- 479phoebeb (10/5): Perfect for Everest park lacrosse tourneys - Perfect for lacrosse families 7 min to Everest park. the price and location can’t be beat for a no frills place to sleep before the game. They are rehabbing an old motel it is quaint and it was clean bed linens and pillows were nice I will come back and recommend
Booking and check in were easy
- Pat (8/5): - All was well..
- Michelle (2/5): Loud and no staff - I'm a solo traveler. At some point after I went to sleep a very loud gathering happened seemingly right outside my door. It was LOUD and when I tried to call the desk there was no answer. I felt incredibly unsafe as well as having my sleep interrupted to the point that I do not feel safe driving today
- James (10/5): - Nice property, nothing fancy, but it had everything i needed for a comfortable stay. I appreciated the small fridge, the ample outlets, and the clean room.
- Amy (8/5): Loved my stay here. Wish it had been longer - Clean and quiet. Pretty spot. AC was loud
- Daniel (4/5): - After reading all of the positive reviews we were surprised to find all these issues with the room:
-what appeared be blood stains on the bed sheets
-shower didn’t work properly (hot water and water pressure)
- bathroom was grimy with missing tile and missing door molding
-slight odor in the room
It’s nice to save money but it’s worth it to pay a little extra and stay in one of the nice properties in town (Packwood House, Arbor House, Sherwood Inn)
- Stern (7/5): Good - The location was good for us. Clean towels, clean bed. Front door was in bad shape. You could see light Around the door. Bathroom window could have used curtains or shades. Security & privacy could have been better. The staff Was very pleasant to us.
- Scott (10/5): - Very nice staff, clean and quiet. Just to be candid, this is an older property. But i had no problems and would stay again
- Amar (6/5): - Location was nice.
- Sean (8/5): - It was conveneiently located to Skaneateles. Defintiely met my needs.
- Rebecca (6/5): - This motel was comfortable but bare-bones. The lobby was never open; we had to ring and call for service. Bathroom had no plugs/outlets, toilet handle was cracked. Beds were comfy and clean. Seemed overpriced for what we got.
- Chrystal (8/5): Very good -
- William (3/5): Expect an old motel with all rooms and no extras. - I think they do their best with a very old property Room was very small. Too small for a sitting chair. Watched TV from the bed.
Had to be careful in the shower.
- Michelle (10/5): - The staff at check in were friendl
- Michael (8/5): - The room was dated, but it was clean and comfortable. The Staff was a young Indian lady, I don't know if she could even speak English, but she confirmed our reservation and gave me the room key. We wanted to return the key to Check Out, nobody in the locked Office, so left the key in the room.
- Patricia (3/5): I would not stay here again. - the location was easy to get to the room was not clean, the bed was not comfortable, the bed was older than me I believe and I am nearly 70. The fact that is was not cleaned well was my biggest bother. Big surfaces look clean but cobwebs and dust shows it has not had a good cleaning in a long time. The beds literally squeaked loudly when you sat down on them.
- Hatboro_PACjjonesy (6/5): Good Price. 50's Motel - It's like staying at a motel in the 50's. Clean. Bathroom 50's pink. Bathroom looks very worn. Had to climb on the bed to put on the air-conditioner. Suggest a handle to get out of the tub for us older crowd. Great price for the area. It was convenient and quiet.
- Juanita (6/5): Pleasant - The sheets and towels were clean. Bathroom clean. This facility needs remodeling. No heat. Was given an electric heater. No electrical outlets in the bathroom. Very few in the room.
- Phil (6/5): Barely acceptable - The room a bit worn but clean
Property was not well kept
- Max (10/5): - good and cheap!
- Connie (5/5): It’s adequate if you just want a place to sleep. - The bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean. The location is perfect for our needs. The whole facility is old and tired. The water really smells so the room smells. There are many shortcuts taken t keep the place up, but it needs a big overhaul.
- Michael (8/5): A Solid Stay - Stayed for a weekend wedding. We were arriving late, but we were accommodated.
Would recommend. Only complaint was a towel did not look clean.
- Barb (7/5): It is fine for a short stay. - The location, price, owners were friendly, comfortable beds, fridge and microwave in room The bathroom was outdated. But besides that, the sink was filthy on our arrival, and the drain in the tub did not work.
- Sandra (6/5): - Old-fashioned facility, but clean and comfortable. Had no in-room phone. I couldn’t make the TV work; no way to call someone at 8 at night.
- Laurie (3/5): Poor -
- Stacy (5/5): It was a bed but not worth the $ - Room needs updating, old curtains, stale smell. I used to come here annually, but haven’t been in a couple of years and it is a little run down. See above comments
- Ken (10/5): Exceptional -
- Justine (9/5): Loved it! - The value was great and the room was comfortable, clean, and private. The location made for an easy trip between Auburn and Skaneateles. Check-in was quick and check-out was a breeze with the key dropbox. Recommend! I wish there had been small breakfast foods like muffins or instant oatmeal available in the morning, but that was not expected because the listing was very clear ahead of time. Overall, if I find myself in this area again, I will likely return to this inn.
- Waylon (7/5): Good -
- Mark (1/5): Bad -
- Malgorzata (10/5): Exceptional - We need continental breakfast
- Lesley (2/5): I would not stay in this place again. - It was close to town but on a busy road with traffic all night It was in need of a lot of repay and upgrades. The place was clean but the toilet moved when you sat in it, the bed was not comfortable, the windows did not close properly.
- Robert (8/5): Very good -
- JACK (10/5): - very nice personnel
- John (2/5): Never stay at this motel. - Dumpy room. Tacky finishings. Not clean. Incompetent staff. Everything. Nothing was pleasant, attractive or nice.
- Erik (6/5): - Booked standard apartment which was spacious and comfortable but this property needs some improvements and modernization. Stayed for two nights with no fresh towels or housekeeping service. Hot water in shower was very difficult to control, either too cold or too hot. The bed was old and way too soft.
- James (6/5): Pleasant - Location
- Guenther (7/5): Good -
- Barbara (6/5): - Linens were clean. Adequate for a one night stay. Price was good compared to other hotels/motels in the area.
- garybY9469SH (10/5): Reasonable rate...for being just outside Skaneateles. - Nice, clean rm...specially for the rate I paid for the night.
Staff was very nice.
I forgot my motorcycle vest in the closet. I think she, was the owner that called me to let me know. Much appreciated...
Thank u...reasonable rate for being just outside of Skaneateles...
- Dianne (5/5): Motor Inn near Auburn NY - The staff was very accommodating. Had to clean the tub and odor in the bathroom. It probably hadn't been used for awhile. The name of the place is deceiving.
- Catherine (8/5): - The motel is good for the price and also it is pet friendly .
The beds are comfortable and it is quiet to sleep. The area around the motel is beautiful with lots to do. There is some other nice amenities such as a larger room refrig and full size coffee maker. Good for one night and if you are on a budget.
- Patsy (10/5): - Electrical power strips needed to be updated, Overall, would recommend.
- WENDY (6/5): - Easy to unload and load up the car. The highway was noisy but once you were in the room you couldn’t hear it. Didn’t like a the notes in the room about how to get rid of the garbage and how to get clean towels. Beds were not made, coffe maker wasn't cleaned and neither were our coffee mugs.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is one of those delightfu older motels with vintage tiled bathrooms. Not to worry, beds and tv are new and comfortable. Everything is impeccably clean.
- Donna (1/5): The place should be torn down, it was awful, many, many cockroaches. Waiting for a refund on my bank card, as did not st - There was nothing to like, It was cockroached infested, there was NO way you could sleep there.
- Elizabeth (5/5): Great location but a bit run down. - Location was central to Skaneateles and Auburn. It needs refreshing/ updates
- Cathy (6/5): - The room was clean however outdated and worn. Water pressure not the greatest. They provided a mini fridge, microwave, coffe pot and snack. The ground were well kept and the staff cordial
- James (7/5): Great location but a few glaring issues... - Wonderful location, only minutes to downtown skaneateles! The price was fair and offered convenience to our travel needs. They offered wifi which was a must since there was little to no reception (verizon) at the motel. I booked it for its location and that didn't dissappint. It is an older motel and hasn't been updated in a very long time. The bathroom was small and the shower was clogged so you stood in 2-3inches of water with even a 5 minute shower. The wifi was free but unprotected! It would be so easy to setup a guest password that might offer some protection. Given that we HAD to connect to use our phones, it made me very uncomfortable and I used it sparingly and didn't log on to any sensitive sites/apps.
- Allan (1/5): Bad - Nothings Everything
- Mary (5/5): Passable - Out unit was an apartment in the back of the property, we had to walk through an area that had broken furniture, and run down units. It felt like a welfare motel. The entrance screen door to our room did not close properly and their were cob webs. The living space was ok, they had soda and water in the fridge with an envelope to pay for each item which was ok, there was coffee but no pot, which was a bummer. The bathroom was the real issue. The cold water handle fell off when I turned on the shower, the drain was rusted and black, the water pressure was so low that I could not wash my hair. I do not recommend this location. If it wasn't so late when we arrived I would have turned around and left. My fault for not reading the reviews before booking :(
- Sharon (8/5): Very good - The bed was too soft for me.
- Kelly (10/5): - I highly recommend This Inn. The refrigerator in the room was stocked with water and soda for a VERY minimal fee! So very worth it for convenience. The staff was so welcoming. The location is very close to all there is in town
- Thekla (6/5): - Very dated motor lodge located a close driving distance to the village of Skaneateles, the only perk. The office is not regularly staffed. Stayed in room 4...room was basically clean. The bed and pillows need be replaced, bathroom was clean but tub is old, did not use. I believe faucets are well water, I used only bottled water for drinking and teeth brushing. The Inn only provides 2 bottles, others were $1 a piece, honor system.
This location was all that was available for a last minute booking.
- Don (3/5): Poor - Location It was highly over priced!
- Vinnie (8/5): - This is my 2nd time staying here, it was about the same. Overall it was nice, convenient for my purposes but very out of the way for food and entertainment. The water pressure still sucks but I guess that's what happens in more rural and country areas. I do not like the water in general; I find that it smells bad, and it smelled bad last time too. Also, if not using the shower head but rather the faucet in the tub, the water did not look clean. The staff were nice and checked to see if we needed any housekeeping or anything like that. It was also very good for the pricing; affordable and relatively comfortable.
- Kathryn (10/5): - Nice stay
- Diana (9/5): Comfortable room and prosteen pool - Pool, location, good mattress, good price It could have been cleaner
- Sharon (4/5): - Pictures did not portray what the property or rooms really looked like. Our key and personal paperwork were left on the counter in the office and no one was available at check in even though it was only 5:15 pm. Guest next store smoked and was very loud. Water in the faucet was extremely pungent. Overall the facility is very outdated; the grounds, the motel room and the bathroom. No staff was available to guests. However, the room was fairly clean.
- GARY (10/5): - An old (pre-Thruway) motel that has been refurbished. Very convenient to the attractions of Skaneateles but far enough away to be quiet.
- Darryl (6/5): - I shower water pressure was to low.
- Raymond (2/5): Couldn't wait to get home and take a shower. - . Good location
. The room had a foul odor. Dusty and overall dirty.
Bathroom had mold in corners.
