We had one of the cabins in the back of the main hotel and our room was excellent. The room was quiet and well furnished. The bathroom was small but updated and had a great walk in shower. We enjoyed the courtyard and fire pit area as well as the breakfast and evening bar setups. The staff did an outstanding job making us feel welcome. We can't wait to go back.

- JGTravelReviews (10/5): Quick review of the Inn - We stayed in a back cottage room on the corner which was a great location with no one next to us! The room was cleaned daily, but we did need to remind them to clean it on the first day. The bed was comfortable, but the Inn could invest in different sized pillows to accommodate multiple tastes. The room and entire Inn was recently renovated. While the bathroom is small, the shower is large. There is a back courtyard which is lovely. You can ask to have the fire turned on and enjoy your cocktails (made with the cocktail fixings that the Inn has from 5-7 nightly). The breakfast is continental with a heavy emphasis on pastries. There was yogurt, hard boiled eggs, juices, tea and coffee. The location was perfect - up on Main street - minutes walk from everything. The ferry (with your bags) is an up hill, bumpy walk, but doable. There is a free bus around town so no car is needed. There are so many restaurants - you couldn't possibly get to all of them! You can take the bus from town to Galley Beach - but we recommend steps beach - about a 10 minute further walk.

The location could not have been better — right in the heart of town, making it easy to enjoy shops, restaurants, and the charm of the island. The property was very comfortable, spotless, and had a welcoming atmosphere that made it feel like home. The staff were attentive, kind, and went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect. I would absolutely recommend this property to anyone visiting Nantucket and look forward to returning.

- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice but not worth the price - The hotel is gorgeous on the outside and comfortable and clean inside. The decorations all relate to the news business (hence the name) but that is somewhat artificial and do not reflect particularly on the town. Most of all: the room we had was extremely small (at 800$, it was as small but more expensive than Manhattan or Paris). The service was totally minimal and so was the breakfast. Overall we will not stay there again. Our friends stayed at 2 other hotels in town on the same days and their rooms were much larger, the breakfast much better than ours.

Good amount of both pros and cons so unsure if we would return here again - maybe if we got a good rate? Cons - unfriendly, somewhat disengaged front desk staff. Came across young and inexperienced. Room 5 had a few little bugs like and ants and spiders in the room all 3 days we were always swatting at something. Looked like windows had poor seals. Breakfast is continental and not fresh - all comes out of plastic packaging they store in the kitchen. Breakfast also doesn’t open till 8 or 8:30 which is far too late for those active and up and about and just trying to get coffee and a drink to go. The kitchen shouldn’t get locked - all other hotels like these we’ve stayed at those common areas stay open 24/7. Pros - super comfy bed and pillows some of the best we’ve had in a hotel. Adorable outdoor patio and fireplace we enjoyed sitting at. Very quiet hotel with nice other guests. Great central location in town - we walked or biked everywhere. Cute renovations and decor in the rooms and common spaces. Reasonable price for the area and what you’re getting.
- Christiana (10/5): - This hotel was awesome, my boyfriend and I came to celebrate our anniversary and decided upon this hotel because it seemed to be the best deal at the time even though it’s pretty hard to call anything on Nantucket a deal. I was a little worried about this hotel not being worth it and it completely exceeded my expectations, super clean and new but with a vintage charm, I was expecting the room to be small and while it was, it was a lot nicer than I expected, newly renovated bathroom, skylights and big windows and the staff were all super nice. They seem to have a lot of young people working there and everyone was incredibly helpful. We had gotten home late one night after drinking and were chatting with reception and were complaining how everything is now closed but we wanted a snack and they made us cookies before leaving for the night which was just so nice and thoughtful. Will definitely be recommending this place and staying again in the future!!!

Bookings did not mention that our room was in the back patio, not in the main house. Cleaning staff lacked training in servicing the rooms. Richard was fantastic - welcoming and very friendly. The island lost power and our lunch and dinner reservations got cancelled. He helped us find places that were open (sandwiches, pizza) and even offered to drive us to pick up the pizza, which he then ordered for the rest of the guests who had no where to eat. We can't wait to come back again!

- kristinmL7345KS (6/5): Sub par experience and stay - I was really excited to stay at this hotel, especially after an incredible experience at their sister property, The Merchant in Salem, MA, this past June. Unfortunately, my stay here fell far below expectations, and I left disappointed, primarily due to my interactions with the staff. I had originally booked two rooms for a weekend in July, but due to the forecast of a potential storm, I reached out to see if we could reschedule. I was pleasantly surprised when the staff agreed to move the dates without any issues. The person I spoke with over the phone never mentioned any changes in cost and kindly suggested switching one of my rooms from an ADA room I had mistakenly booked. I appreciated her attentiveness in pointing this out and offering to move me. However, leading up to the weekend, I noticed additional charges on my credit card, so I called to inquire. They then informed me that there was an increased cost, which they never pointed out (important to note that the costs on the site and on travel sites, were actually lower in cost and contradicted what they were claiming). Trying to get the charges corrected turned into a frustrating ordeal. The Manager and front desk staff were rude, unprofessional, and seemed more interested in deflecting blame rather than resolving the issue. They made excuses, shifted responsibility onto me, and the overall interaction felt like gaslighting. I hoped the actual hotel experience would make up for the poor communication, but unfortunately, it did not. Despite being assured that they would move me from the ADA room, they didn’t—and it felt very deliberate. I didn’t press the issue because, after my prior interactions, I didn’t feel it would lead to a positive outcome. The room itself was, quite frankly, the strangest I've ever stayed in. It was themed entirely around Elin Hilderbrand. While I enjoy her books, the room felt more like a shrine than a tasteful homage. There was an Elin Hilderbrand director's chair, three large portraits of her, multiple framed photos (with friends? family?), and even her signature on the wall. It felt over-the-top and not at all in keeping with the classic Nantucket charm I was expecting. The food was also disappointing. In contrast to The Merchant, where the food was excellent, this hotel’s offerings were subpar, limited and unappealing. They also have a text system for guest requests, which could have been a great feature if it worked. Unfortunately, as my screenshot shows, the response times were slow and unreliable. I’ve been visiting Nantucket for eight years, multiple times each summer, and have stayed in various Airbnbs and hotels. This was by far my least favorite experience. The unprofessional behavior of the staff, combined with the awkward room theme and lackluster amenities, made for a disappointing stay. The positive is the great location and the courtyard with the firepits :)

- 8h316hfla3 (10/5): Beautiful and quaint. - 76 Main is a fabulous hotel. Our room was beautiful and stylish with high ceilings. The staff go out of their way to make you feel at home. The courtyard is a relaxed place to have breakfast or a drink by the fire at night.
- Zanne2024 (10/5): Great ACK stay - We came to ACK for our anniversary. 76 Main was fantastic. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was big. Coffee juice and light pastries were put out each morning. We used two beach chairs. The location was great, very close to town. Richard was wonderful to us and Devan and Maddie were super helpful and knowledgeable about where to go and where to eat. Their recommendations were wonderful and they were all very talkative and super friendly. We will be back to 76 Main

We have been staying there for years and Richard and his staff are professional and accommodating . They provide a nice breakfast with fresh baked pastries, fruit, quiche , etc. In the evening they provide mixers as well as home baked cookies. The decor is fresh and appropriate for the area and the hotel is immaculate. We highly recommend this hotel.

- Mavis Fraser (8/5): Quaint hotel with comfortable courtyard - This was a quaint hotel with a lovely courtyard in the back. They offer a nice breakfast, and our room was simple yet had what we needed, for the most part. The Roman blinds are cute, but unfortunately gap a bit, giving people coming and going in the courtyard a good view into the bed, literally. Other drawbacks, however, for someone in my position were important. I've been in a wheelchair for a few months, so having an accessible space is necessary. The room I was offered (once i got pushed up their very steep driveway) had a step up to get inside, and a tight doorway. I would not have been able to get up the drive, or in or out of the room had I been on my own. As well, I could not get my wheelchair into the bathroom, at all, so had to try to crutch hop to the sink and toilet. Not great considering smooth floors and big sliding glass shower doors. The shower was definitively not accessible, and even if I could have hobbled in, it had no grab bars or a shower seat. I realize this is not entirely their fault, as when i originally reserved, i was not in this situation. I called to ask about changing my reservation to an accessible room, and they were very agreeable (at a significant upcharge). I think it would have been better if they had just offered me a refund and a recommendation of who else might have had truly accessible space.
- Sean (10/5): - Our 3 night stay was the perfect location for a much needed getaway. Room 21 is like your own cottage off the courtyard, the perfect location for breakfast or an evening cocktail around the fire pit. We'd highly recommend and will stay again in the future.

Very nice room with courtyard in front and our own fire pit in back. Breakfast was great and they gave us suggestions for bike rental, dinner and lunch. This is a great hotel and they totally get hospitality. Thanks Madison

- JonathanC580 (8/5): Great stay - Perfect location, on a beautiful street. Great curb appeal and upkeep. Helpful checkin staff. Beautifully restored/remodeled interior. Felt very fresh. Rooms freshly updated and attractive, with small but charmingly nice updated bathrooms. Afternoon cookies were nice, as was sitting in a peaceful and attractive courtyard. Housekeeping was top notch. Only negatives: housekeeping was stingy on small toiletries. Run out daily. Also, the “breakfast” was disappointing. Stale cold pastries, that felt days old and brought in. Ended up skipping this amenity. Felt the price was a little steep for not offering a real breakfast.

- cbjim (8/5): Nice, but not luxury - I think my expectations were too high based on the TA reviews & the hotel’s website. This is not a “luxury” hotel. It is a nice mid-tier hotel. The positives: Excellent location near town, charming curb appeal, friendly reception, clean & well-maintained facility. Those are important. The less than positive: We have stayed in hundreds of hotels from economy to luxury over the years with free breakfasts. I cannot recall a worse breakfast. Stale pastries, cold oatmeal, mediocre coffee. On the final day, we walked to a bakery a few blocks away & brought outstanding pastries back to our room. We found the bed in our room a little too soft & springy. The furnishings & towels were far less then luxury. Next time, we will try to find a more upscale experience at another property. I didn’t do much price shopping. I will likely pay more.

- KMBlueTurtle (8/5): Room was very nice. Location is wonderful! We’ll be back. - Our third-floor room was very nice with a queen bed. It’s one of the smaller rooms I believe, but it was one of the last rooms they had available. Everything was very clean and very comfortable. The bed linens were heavenly. It’s a hefty walk up to the third-floor, but they were very kind to deliver our luggage to the room when it was ready, while we were at lunch. The most amazing touch was the coffee station outside of our room. There is one on each floor. We didn’t find the breakfast or the happy hour byob to be very appealing. Breakfast was grocery store croissants and poppyseed muffins . Based on the reviews, it looks like the breakfast was nice several years ago. We didn’t mind the Byob, but the mixers were basically Lacroix, tonic, A couple jars with olive type things. I think in the evening the fire pit should be lit to add to the ambience of a beautiful patio area. But the Inn is very walkable to so many things in town for breakfast and drinks. A couple blocks away, we did an NIT one hour bus tour to show us the other end of the island, as it was our first time to Nantucket. Where we picked up the bus tour there was a Wave bus station(right next to handlebar coffee ). They have cute little electric buses that are free and go everywhere on the island. We also did Cisco, which is a brewery, winery, distillery. Just a fun place for cocktails and food trucks . They offer a free shuttle.

- MumblesTravels (8/5): 76 Main - We found 76 Main to be in a perfect location and appointed very beautifully. You’d have to enjoy the newsprint theme, which is campy, but tasteful. We thought the rooms were very relaxing and comfortable, and also clean! We wish that all of the staff were more knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the island, and all it has to offer. Lastly, although we understand there are some restrictions due to island regulations, the breakfast, while very lovely looking, didn’t have very much taste. We went out for breakfast. Lastly, it would’ve been ideal if they had a few bicycles to borrow.

The cookies at the happy hour were yummy . The a/c was a tad loud . Breakfast was all sugar. Difficult for me being a diabetic a protein would have been nice such as hard boiled eggs.
- vmrmv (10/5): The Perfect Nantucket Experience - Staying at 76 Main is the perfect Nantucket experience. The location is ideal, the rooms spotless, and the staff is accommodating and welcoming. We are already planning a return trip to Nantucket and look forward to staying again at 76 Main, which is steps away from the Village and located on a lovely tree-lined cobblestone street.

- allplanetsearch (8/5): Great location, cute decor - We stayed at the 76 Main property in a King room in the high season. The hotel is in a converted old home with all the charm and quirks that come with it. The location is excellent, just a couple of blocks from the restaurants and shops in the main downtown area. All rooms are recently remodeled, with very charming and tasteful marine-themed decor. They have King rooms in the main three-story building, as well as around the backyard area, which are called “cottages” (even though they are just an outdoor room). The King size room in the main house was very nice and well sized, with the most minuscule shower and toilet area I’ve ever seen (it was literally a closet at some point!). Also, being on the ground floor and right by the entrance, not very quiet. We requested to be moved and they were kind enough to accommodate us. We ended up in a cottage room that was very spacious, quiet, and comfortable, but dark and with very low ceiling. There were two arm chairs, but no desk area. The hotel offers a light Continental breakfast, which we did not enjoy. Thankfully, there are plenty of good breakfast options nearby. The staff was responsive, although not particularly warm or personable. The outdoor area was quite comfortable and made for a good hang out space in the afternoon. Altogether, this was a pleasant enough base from which to explore the area (mostly by bicycle). Prices were definitely too high for what is offered, but that is all of Nantucket in the high season.
- Mulholland (6/5): Good first time in Nantucket experience. - You could walk to the hotel from the wave shuttle. The hotel was walkable to everything in town we were doing. The lobby hotel decor is fun and the kitchen is updated. They offer small bites for breakfast. Our bathroom. The shower curtain and we had an ant problem in our bathroom. The room was nice but need more mirrors for people getting ready. The only mirror was in our bathroom.
