The heated outdoor saltwater pool and sauna are so unique and fun! (Year round!) Our room looked out to the ocean! We enjoyed watching the surfers and walking to the ocean edge! We will come back again and again!!
• K4541XFchristinem (10/5): A cozy, welcoming stay with a fun flair! - The Break hotel was the perfect break! Minutes from Jamestown and Newport. If you appreciate interior design - the theme was surfing, with fun, vintage decor throughout, plus a gorgeous, cozy lobby with a calming view of fish swimming in a large fish tank and a warm gas fireplace near a chess table. The bed was comfy with fluffy pillows, big shower with two shower heads and plenty of hot water! The noise level was low for the most part. Hospitality and cleanliness were top notch! There were homemade cookies in the cookie jars on each floor, a heated outdoor pool and sauna, a rooftop restaurant/bar and a fantastic breakfast with a personal visit from the friendly, exceptional chef, Padraic Dixon. It was an inviting stay for a great value!
• 818jessil (10/5): Great hotel - Would absolutely stay again. Perfect area. 5 minutes from Scarborough Beach and about 10 minutes to downtown Narragansett. The breakfast buffet was one of the best breakfasts I have ever had. Just amazing. We also really enjoyed the pool and the sauna (even in November). Everything was clean and the staff were friendly. Thank you!
• freddat2022 (6/5): Beautiful Hotel, not fully operating on off season - The Break Hotel 3/5 Ok The hotel is beautiful! Our room was clean, very comfortable bed, very nicely decorated. Fireplace was nice after the pool. Breakfast was delicious and great assortment! However, the elevator was broken so we had to carry luggage and go up and down to third floor. The pool was not as hot as previously and staff could not get the sauna on. We ate at the restaurant upstairs. Only 2/7 taps had beer. We arrived at 7:10 and were enjoying a cocktail but were told we had to order dinner quickly as kitchen closed at 7:30, even though restaurant was open to 9. Calamari appetizer was very good but food was not very good. Lights in the staircase were out so dark to go up to the restaurant . All staff were very friendly and tried to help as much as they could. Seems like it is off season and maybe hotel should not be open during this time if they cannot run efficiently.
• F7324JEemilyb (10/5): Delightful seaside hotel - We stayed at this delightful hotel in Narragansett last weekend for a wedding in the area. We very much enjoyed staying at this small hotel a block off The ocean. Some of the charming touches were a water/seltzer/hot water station in the hallway on each floor along with a cookie jar filled nightly with homemade snickerdoodles. Being October, The ceiling top bar/restaurant space was not open, But we were able to go up and look at it, and it seemed like an amazing place to spend a summer evening. The breakfast café there was lovely, and the lobster eggs Benedict was a total indulgence. One suggestion, it would be wonderful if they could change to big bottles of toiletries in the rooms, as so many hotels have already done, as it is more environmentally correct, as well as providing someone with very long hair (me) enough shampoo, and conditioner to actually wash their hair.

• Nancy (10/5): - Everything was on point, Excellent interior design, spotless, service impeccable and friendly, food excellent, The pool was warm , clean and fabulous on a chilly day, the outdoor sauna was great. As guests we felt considered on every level with many unexpected extra comforts for example, fresh cookies in the hall way centers and a view of both sunrise and sunset. A super place from start to finish. We will absolutely return with pleasure

• Joseph (10/5): - We love The Break - the atmosphere, the throwback 60’s beach vibe, the colors, everything is very special and a great venue for our Anniversary. The rooftop deck bar was not operating but they allowed us to sit out there and enjoy a beverage of choice and relax by the ocean view. The only constructive feedback is the king bed in our room was a little rough. We will be back no doubt.

I loved the peaceful surroundings, the perfect location, and the warm, welcoming atmosphere that truly makes you feel at home. The only downside was the mattress, which felt a bit outdated, but it really wasn’t a major issue.

• ceporet (10/5): Lovely Boutique Hotel - The Break Hotel is a lovely boutique hotel with lots of nice touches. Our room was pretty and very comfortable with a nice mattress and soft linens and towels plus plush bathrobes. The staff was helpful. We enjoyed the cookie jars on our floor and the water machine which dispensed hot, cold, ambient and sparkling water. The hotel is immaculate and decorated beautifully. The lobby has a gorgeous fish tank.
• Odyssey108823 (6/5): Has been better. Needs to get better - What the break charming and a 5star is it beautiful hotel. Great breach setting vibes. Rooms are unbelievable. The pool is beyond words. Parking is easy and safe. Beach chairs and bikes available. But one thing is certain. Mr. Durkin has hired a management team to run the hotel. And in my opinion not for the best. One thing that irks me was the complimentary breakfast that was always provided. Went through different versions of this from plated breakfast with menu,to a nice buffet that was very good. To tasteless tapas to basically English muffins and fruit n the back to a smaller but satisfying buffet. Now a restaurant. Chair 5 will never succeed. To any better known competitors. How many versions are you gonna fail with. Offer a simple and affordable dinner menu. Lunch can be basic sandwiches. Open the bar more for guests. Treat guests like you use to. Staff is great but bring back the locals that worked their butts off. Someone sold mr. Durkin was sold a load of what is not possible. Narragansett/ point Judith is an area with deep roots in its culture. That is why aunt Carrie’s, George’s, iggys, Champlain’s,coast ,guard house and Monahans succeed. A restaurant like chair 5 that have changed their direction in dining experience will fail. The management company you have hired is failing to meet guests expectations. Good: parking, rooms, showers, pool, sauna, neighborhood, local food placed to eat, chocolate chip cookies, cleanliness, access to local beaches, beach chairs and bikes available. Great staff especially room attendants, fish tank,the pool guy. Cheap: eliminating complimentary breakfast, another poor chair 5 restaurant- no menu concept. None. No easily accessible bar. Just not the same. For price paid…the benefits have been taken away. I guess Mr. Durkin wants more money
• O8363QEjakep (10/5): 10/10 Experience at THE BREAK HOTEL - Stayed at The Break Hotel while visiting the area for business, and all I can say is WOW! Kelly, at the front desk gave us great recommendations for a good local meal, was more than helpful with all of the information around the area and the hotel itself! This spot is an absolute GEM in Narragansett and is close to everything you need (The Block Island Ferry, Restaurants, Stores, and the beach), and they even have a SAUNA ON THE POOL DECK. So ahead of their time and an extremely personalized stay (even came into my room and found a notes and small gift! I will be returning for sure! Thank you so much Break Hotel Team!!!
• Trevor (8/5): 2025 review - Hotel room was very nice. Super clean. Nice amenities. Quiet. Room gets an A. Restaurant on top floor is a solid B. Food was ok not great. Closes at 9. Restaurant staff was friendly. Extremely close to Block island ferry which is great. Definitely an A. Don’t be fooled by maps of how close you are the the beach though. It’s a private neighborhood so all those beaches are private and off limits to hotel guests. The nearest beach is a drive or a solid bike ride away. Rate: C If you are looking for great room the Break delivers. But for the cost it left plenty boxes unchecked. Overall: B- I would stay again but I would make sure to plan out my trip knowing that at the Break you’re not really near anything
• dalemQ6866DH (10/5): Beautiful and close to everything - We visited the area during the week after Labor Day. Most things were still open but less crowded and warm weather. This hotel was beautifully appointed with retro decorations in colors of the ocean. Convenient parking and great views of Narragansett Bay from the rooftop lounge. Immaculate. Nice, oversized tub and shower in the spotless bathroom. I missed having a mat or grainy bottom underneath my feet in the shower to prevent slipping; otherwise our room was perfect. Delicious breakfast in the morning. I would definitely come back!

• O3379YBalexw (4/5): Unpleasant Experience - The hotel itself is a lovely little boutique hotel in Narragansett. Unfortunately that is where the "lovely" ends. Last night during our stay our floor was awoken by incessant loud banging on doors and screaming. We all learned, after a few deliberate car alarms, some damage to the lobby, and the fire alarm being pulled, that a young woman was very upset she was unable to find her friend (who it turns out was sleeping very soundly in her room. They were on a tour together and were not well known to each other). Hotel guests evacuated at 2:15 am. There is apparently no staff on the grounds from 9 pm-7/8 am; the police were not even able to enter the building this morning for a follow-up without a guest letting them in via key card. While there is an emergency number in the lobby when staff are not around, it does seem odd and unsafe to leave a bunch of guests alone overnight (whether for potentially intoxicated guests or actual emergencies). I will say the Narragansett police, fire, and hotel staff have been very nice. We have stayed here before and it was a good experience. I understand this is a fluke but it does raise questions about safety and hotel protocols especially with certain individuals (ie: emergency services) not being able to enter if needed. To add about safety, their elevator was last inspected 06/28/2024. Might be time to get that checked out; usually these are done yearly. We love Narragansett and have been visiting for years. We were happy to find a small hotel that we thought would be quiet; unfortunately our stay was anything but.

Bikes, beach chairs, beach towels and fresh baked cookies😃 Awesome heated pool. We had a wonderful three day stay. The Chair 5 dinner and breakfast was delicious. We are coming back🤗for sure

Restaurant poor, breakfast inedible wooden bagel, unripe fruit, reservation for 7 people at 7 PM seated after 8 PM, food served just before 9 PM. restaurant closed 2 days a week (not really indicated anywhere obvious). Pool OK but no food or drink service. Rooms serviced daily but bathroom supplies omitted one day. “Balcony” barely enough room for 2 people. Problems seemed largely management not the staff ( they were good but poorly supported). Room was adequate.
• I4361JQcarolb (10/5): Perfection! A heavenly get-away! - The Break is a ‘little piece of heaven’ for a get- away! I have chosen The Break as my top boutique hotel for almost 10 years and it never disappoints. With its trendy, beach vibe, and its amazing accommodating staff, it is just the place to unwind. At Chair 5, my daughter and I enjoyed a birthday dinner by ordering for starters the pear and burrata salad and the Point Judith calamari (best we ever had as Rhode Islanders). For mains we enjoyed the baked lemon butter cod with scalloped potatoes/asparagus and chicken Milanese - both prepared to perfection! The breakfast menu offered a large section of options for every savory/sweet palate. Portions were very large and the attractive presentations appealed to the eye - delish! 5 star rating for accommodation comfort, ambience and fabulous pool. I am booking again for another weekend!
• lindakX5298PY (6/5): Disappointed - We love The Break and have been there several times. It is a beautiful hotel very quaint exceptionally clean however this trip wasn’t as seem less as prior trip. We were unable to use our air conditioner it’s located right above the bed and the louver was broken and it was blowing right on top of us. Fortunately, the windows did open to give us some air even though it was warm and we were on the main road side and it was quite loud. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed during our visit. We did get to go to the bar once however having the restaurant available after being at the beach all day to have it in your hotel was convenient. I’m not sure what’s going on. It’s under new management and they’re working out the details unfortunately we were there when the details weren’t worked out. Also breakfast used to be included not anymore. Lastly I went in the pool looking at the signage posted said pool closes at 10pm and it was 830 however a young girl came out and said she was closing the pool and it was only 8:45. Unfortunately, due to these circumstances, we probably will not be staying there again.

Very nice pool with floating mats and noodles, the cleanest hotel pool we have ever used. Combo rain/regular shower heads with great water pressure and heated bathroom floors. Appreciated the extra knit blanket as I am always cold at night. Would have liked both the pool and the rooftop dining to be open later (9:00 for both).

• Victoria (5/5): Very disappointing! - Beautiful hotel. The staff are very hospitable and friendly. The pool area was very nice with plenty of chaises and umbrella tables. The location was easily accessible to the beach and other places to eat. There were a choice of three dining areas however they were seldom open. Either they were only open on certain days or times, and then the chef wasn’t available. We never had breakfast or lunch there and the one dinner we had the chef arrived 1 1/2 hours late. The air conditioning was very noisy. There was a constant screeching sound. Workmen were inside the facility working on the faulty air conditioning daily in all common areas, draping couches and putting up ladders. There was a constant bustle of activity with loud staple guns being used.

Our Oceanview King Deluxe room was spacious and very comfortable. Everything was super clean, and the amenities were excellent. What really made our visit special was the amazing customer service. Every staff member we met was kind, attentive, and made us feel truly welcome.

• irisholive (6/5): Don’t go Mondays or Tuesday - The hotel Is beautiful as always however they now make you pay additionally for breakfast where it was included in the past and the restaurant is completely closed Monday and Tuesday so your unable to even buy a drink. We highly recommend if your coming here Monday or Tuesday stay at the shore house. Rooms are just as beautiful. The restaurant is called “the Craft” and opens at 4 daily and serves excellent food and drinks with lovely deck. It’s a shame one can’t even buy a beer here and enjoy the deck on a Monday or Tuesday night or enjoy a meal especially during high season. We only stayed here instead of shore house because of their normal delicious food/drink even though it’s a higher price. We wanted to be here for our anniversary to also enjoy the restaurant. Sadly we should have stayed elsewhere.

The hotel has all the makings of what could you a terrific spot….if managed right. We were not made away the rooftop bar was not open. And after going up to the rooftop bar with our drinks from the first floor bar it looked like staff hadn’t been up there in weeks. As far as the downstairs bar goes…three beer taps were out on a Saturday. And after listening to the bar and waitstaff explain how a number of times were not available on the menu we did not even contemplate eating there. Great location, nice rooms but something is just not quite right. With some appropriate management this place could be a gem.
• 7M8 (4/5): 2 Star Ripoff at 4 Star Prices - To celebrate my birthday this past weekend, my daughter booked two rooms for two nights at a cost of $2770. The booking was made in March and from then through this past week, she had several telephone conversations with Break staff regarding the rooms, accommodations for my three year old granddaughter, and restaurant reservations. Relying on the hotel website and these conversations, we were all extremely excited about our upcoming visit. The rooftop sunset bar/restaurant as well as the breakfast offerings appeared on the level to be expected if one were to spend close to $700/night. At no time from booking until arrival did anyone inform us that the rooftop restaurant would be off limits and the breakfast room adjoining the lobby would be the location for our dinner reservations. Upon entering the breakfast room Friday evening, the staff apologized profusely and informed us that the hotel was in the middle of transitioning to a new restaurant contract and thus the menu was limited to only a few very basic appetizers and entrees. The staff tried their best but the food was at best barely acceptable and bore no resemblance to the photos on the website. In comparison with the following morning breakfast however and renewed apologies from the sole staffperson, the dinner was sumptuous and gourmet. Breakfast was barely edible, featuring stale rolls, bagels, a few cuts of fruit, and awful coffee. While the breakfast today was an improvement it wasn't even possible to get milk for our coffee. After several discussions with hotel management staff we were offered a credit toward a future visit. As the saying goes, fool me once…. This was supposed to be a special occasion. I do not normally splurge and spend anything close to $700/night each for two rooms. While the rooms themselves were very comfortable and spacious and the staff as helpful as possible, the value of our visit was more accurately in $400/night category. (Even at that price, the shower door in my daughter's family's room should have opened more than maybe ten inches because of a badly installed soap dish). Adding insult to injury, the hotel opened the rooftop bar/restaurant to a private party this morning. Why couldn’t it have been open all weekend if it was so easy to open for a group today? Why couldn’t the hotel bother to make a phone call informing us that the restaurant was basically closed and that there would be no breakfast service? Why wasn’t this mentioned on the website? This was misrepresentation on a grand scale and no one at the hotel disagreed. Going by conversations at neighboring tables at breakfast, my family was far from alone in feeling great disappointment and frustration. If you are contemplating a stay at the Break - call first before booking and get a guarantee in writing that what is represented on the website actually exists. Don't trust the huge lit neon sign on the hotel announcing that the sunset bar/restaurant is OPEN.

They took the time to call to check on us when we hadn't arrive by 8pm. They made sure we had everything we needed and were so friendly all the time. The hotel is lovely and we had a nice view of the ocean. Breakfast was very nice and we were very happy at this hotel. Definitely will try to stay here again! Best hotel experience in Narragansett the past 3 years.

Hotel is beautiful, king room with balcony & sea view is huge & just everything you need or could think of! Love the charging station, comfy bed & robes & great shower & outstanding view! Amenities like fresh chocolate chip cookies was divine & the heated pool & sauna were just thee best! We used the bikes si lovely to have! Breakfast was delicious & complimentary mimosa was a hit! Wonderful location to everything & great places like George’s, Manauteck oyster bar, Spain of Naragansett, & coast guard house in Naragansett! We the facilities are immaculate & the roof top is awesome to have! What a view & fabulous place to stay! Staff was beyond friendly , professional & over the top nice! We will be back! Absolutely nothing! Wish it was cheaper but that’s it!

Everything was clean and beautiful, and every amenity was thought of—from warm cookies upon arrival to an Apple Watch charger next to the bed—it’s the little things that make a visit feel special! Breakfast was great, but by the 9:00 seating there were some items that hadn’t been replenished, so pick an early seating for the most offerings. The ocean is a block away and the pool was pretty! I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

• Edward (4/5): Reconsider Newport if you want full amenities>>>> - My wife and I had stayed in an Ocean front suite here in Dec 2023 and were so excited to return only to find out things had 'changed' Prices soared in 1 year but we were still hopeful- Not the case- the room we got had a much smaller bathroom than the suite from last year- the pool wasn't as warm and the outdoor sauna was not on- you had to ask Plus the pool towels looked 10 years old - Then the biggest surprise was neither of their highlighted restaurants were open!! It was a holiday week -We were not planning on driving anywhere since this is a so-called resort- They only open the restaurant on Thurs Fri Sat Sun-BUT do not tell you that on the website -- Then all shut down at 8PM Lastly- the SPA massage for 1 hour was more expensive than NYC!! Go to Newport for this money-

I was told the restaurant had a last seating at 7:30 and food would be available to go but everything was closed before 8 including the lobby that was completely dark. Breakfast was mediocre at best. Maybe it would be better in the summer? I also had a family in the room above me that just stomped at all hours of the night but with no overnight hotel staff there was no one to alert.
• Lisa (10/5): - Outstanding property and staff is superior. Decor tremendous the Chris Wylie art is the anchor to the entire aesthetic of the interior. Two issue to mention. It is not comfortable to be at a hotel where the staff is gone by 4 pm. There are two many safety issues to not have at least one attendant to help the guests with the facility. Also please do something about the air on the third floor. If you can’t don’t rent those rooms unless you wish Overall a superb hotel.
