Guest Reviews
- Grzegorz (10/5): - Excellent place for stay in Cozumel.
- Pedro (10/5): - Muy buenas instalaciones.
- Caliope (10/5): Hospedagem adorável - Amei a proposta da casa, bem integrada com a natureza.
- cesar (2/5): - The staff is not friendly and when I came back late the door was locked from the lobby. I tried ringing bell and no one came out. I had to push the door open. Room doesn’t have working fan.
- Harold (10/5): My New Best Place to Stay in Cozumel - Excellent value for a well-appointed and spotless large room (Limon Suite) just a short walk to the center of town. Takes about 10 minutes to Mega and 8 minutes to the Aqua Safari pier in front of Casa Mexicana. The property has a set of stairs leading to the front door of the living areas, always locked. You get a set of three keys: the outside door, your room door, and the room safe. Bottled water is provided along with a small refrigerator. You can refill your water bottle from a cooler on the second floor.
Breakfast served from 0730 to 1000. Most of the time I ate at 0730 due to scuba diving pickup and the friendly staff was always ready on time.
Memo communicated quickly with WhatsApp. You must Venmo (the easiest way) the first night's cost to hold your reservation and then pay the remainder via Venmo prior to arrival or in cash when you arrive.
The common lounging areas are comfortable and private. There are several good restaurants within a 5 minute walk.
I discovered I enjoyed the superior accommodations more than having a beach/ocean front view with a pool for about half the price.
I definitely will stay here when I return to Cozumel on future dive trips.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Wouldn't recommend for a long stay - Pros:
-Cute design inside the property and the rooms, nice balcony with a hammock.
-Good proportion breakfast that was served in a nice backyard covered with trees.
Cons:
-When you arrive, you have to wait at the door for someone to open. We only had to wait 5-10 minutes.
-Cash payment only.
-Only Spanish speaking host, who wasn't very welcoming and asked for the payment at the door even before we entered the property.
-Awful bath towels that are extremely crusty that hurts your skin.
-Internet is not reliable.
-No one at the property when you need something.
- Pao (10/5): The best place to stay in Cozumel - This place was definitely the best option to stay in Cozumel. The architecture of the place is amazing. The place was as described, with a comfortable bathroom, balcony and everything we needed during our stay. It's a great place to relax very close to the center of Cozumel.
This place is very close to diffetent amazing vegan options which was a plus .♡.
We higly recommend staying here.
- Michelle (10/5): - Very clean. Instead of tearing down all the trees when it was built, the design incorporated the trees into the hotel ambiance. Very peaceful. We came to scuba, not swim, but we did try and use the pool upon arrival and it is across the street and not in swimmable condition. Again, we were fine with not swimming, but if you are looking to hang out by the pool during your trip, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel unless the pool and surrounding area is cleaned up.
- Mark (10/5): A great stay - I had a great stay at Mi Casa en Cozumel. Irma cooked us a fine breakfast every morning, and provided helpful info (the latter required a little Spanish). Memo also gave me VERY helpful info and advice in English, including recommending a great scuba tour operator. The only minor downside was the WiFi in my room area was basically non-existent, so make sure you have data minutes. Aside from that quibble I had a great stay. It is in a convenient location to a supermarket and restaurants as well.
- Benjamin (8/5): Nice place and cost - The place was an older hotel villa and close to the city center as it was just a 10 minute walk away. The price is very good for what you get and the breakfast is an added plus. The villa could be updated a bit more but I was mostly just sleeping there so I was fine with everything. Irma was great and Inwould recommend this place.
- Jack (8/5): - Neighbour dogs barking all night
- Grace Abigail (10/5): - Irma was very kind and helpful, I would use this property again. Very nice and quiet place.
- Steve (10/5): - Very clean,a/c property with Netflix. Helpful staff locked away my scooter overnight. Good value.
- albert (10/5): Nice b and b type of place - As advertised nice little quaint location to stay close to center plaza.
Great customer service and they were quite flexible with my request for late checkout.
- Tommy (10/5): - Highly recommend! What a clean room! Quaint building, plenty of hot water for showers. The location is perfect to walk anywhere downtown and very safe. Great restaurants nearby!
- Belinda (8/5): Cute, clean, located near city center - This is a cute, clean and economical hotel near the water and city center. Great price and they accommodated my breakfast needs: I’m a vegan and asked for oatmeal and almond milk. My husband ate eggs, beans, tortillas and fruit. Coffee and juice also. Breakfast was really good. The room had an old refrigerator. The bed was hard. After four days my hips were sore. Again, the price is great and it’s adorable.
- bryan (10/5): - Fun cool property. Breakfast was great and fast. I'd go back for sure.
- Julieta (10/5): Much more than expected - Everything was amazing!
- Larry (8/5): - Great location. Charming, attractive property. Showing some age but still very appealing environment. Room was nice. Wi-Fi good. Be aware location is in a typical good safe neighborhood in Mexico meaning street noise, barking dogs, etc. We will definitely stay again.
- Rustin (8/5): - Very unique little hotel. Perfect for experiencing life in town. Mostly very quiet except for the neighborhood dogs that come out and bark every night - Nothing the hotel can do about it, and wasn't terrible with ac noise going, but definitely could not keep a window open.
Breakfast every morning was good. Within 1-2 blocks of taxis or restaurants. Housekeeper only speaks spanish, super nice and we stumbled through communication ok, I definitely need to brush up on my spanish!.
Was really hoping for a pool to chill out in, but there is no pool to use. I think the only pool available is if you rent the top expensive room.
I would stay here again.
- Jenny (10/5): - This property was just our style. Tucked back on a quiet street. Charming, relaxing and welcoming.
- Maria (8/5): - I really liked the property. Everything was clean and peaceful.
- Xavier (8/5): - The property was nice. The only thing not much of view. Feels hidden and tucked away. The staff was friendly at arrival, but basically nonexistent. As far as location close to everything. Also a small convenient store at the corner. I would definitely stay again for a short stay. Any thing longer than 3 days. Spend a little more somewhere else. All in all just minor personal dislikes.
- Min-Min (8/5): - Lovely little hotel. Walking distance to almost everything. Breakfast is decent but just wish the coffee was warmer..
The hotel have a small hot tub and a swimming pool across the road but they were not clean! Murky water and cover with some leaves.swimming or dip in the hot tub is not an option.
There are a lot of dogs in this area, bring some earplugs and download White Noise app you will be ok!
I had a late afternoon flight and the owner Memo was kindly let me have a 2hour late check out. Thank you again!
Over all it was a nice 4 night stay.
I will definitely comeback and stay here again.
- Remington (10/5): Sandia room - Had a great stay here. Breakfast was delightful and Irma was so nice. The room was airy and spacious. We stayed in the Sandia room. The door knob stopped working the last day of our stay here and since no one was on site we had to spend a long time trying to open it, but that didn't take away from the overall experience much. At night, there are a lot of noises outside of this room, but that is common in most areas and can be fixed by sleeping with the AC on. This hotel is a 7 minute walk from the central square.
- TERARY MIKEN (10/5): - This is a really cool little hotel. Much better than what I was expecting.
My favorite was the decor, authentic, original, tasteful. It located walking distance to the ferry (if you dont have too much luggage). Several dive shops around.
I will stay here again if I am in town.
- Eliut (10/5): A++++++ - A++++ service, room, everything was great. I recommended and we be my first choice to book.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A bit loud at night, barking dogs. But a nice place.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice clean hotel in a rural area so there are the normal sights and sounds of being in a neighborhood. Street parking wasn’t a problem. Breakfast was always very good. Having some Spanish is helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Amazing architecture and well maintained. Great central location.
- Rachel (10/5): We would absolutely come back here. - The hotel is just off the beaten path. It's not right right in the center of everything but is a short walk to restaurants, the main plaza, and the ferry from Playa del Carmen. There is a hot tub and plenty of places to lounge. The common areas are all well kept and there is a small hot tub. Irma, who showed us to our room and made us breakfast, was very lovely and sweet.
Our room (Sandia) was well appointed, clean, spacious, comfortable, and private.
Finally, breakfast was great. There was fresh squeezed juice, coffee, a pastry, and a hot savory breakfast entree.
I would absolutely recommend this hotel. However, if you have mobility issues, it is probably not the right place for you, there is at least one flight of stairs to get to the rooms.
- Iain (8/5): Average at best - Everything was ok, but only ok. The place was nice enough, it took the room forever to get cool as you can’t leave the A.C while you’re not in the room. There seemed to be hundreds of stray dogs in the area and with that brought lots of barking and dog poop on the streets. Location was convenient though, close to dive centers and the mega superstore too
- Louise (10/5): Perfect! - Mi Casa en Cozumel is a lovely property, a little walk away from the main tourist area but this is exactly what I was looking for. The hotel was spotless and tastefully furnished. I was welcomed by Irma and Memo Lopez contacted me regularly by email to check I had what I needed. This place really is an oasis.
- Verified traveler (4/5): No clean bed linens available - We just wanted a clean and comfortable place to stay for a couple nights for scuba. This place was close to the scuba shop and restaurants. The pictures shows off their really cool architecture.
Bring your own sheets if you stay. Sheets were stained yellow and had hair on it on our first night. I requested for sheet change, they changed it the next day. The new sheets also has stains. Pillow cases were stained yellow. Felt dirty and uncomfortable.
- Belinda (10/5): Great stay - The place was super cute.. The hotel was a bit off the main tourist area, tucked away. I love the trees within the hotel and tropical feel of it. The woman who took care of the property was great. She checked us in early. The pancakes with fruit and fresh juice in the morning was amazing.
- Caroline (10/5): Perfect location, lovely owner and staff. - We stayed here four nights to use as a base to go Scuba diving. The property is unique and located in a residential neighborhood right in the middle of the main downtown area. Plenty of really excellent restaurants to walk to, as well as shops and convenience stores. Certain things, such as cleaniness and whether or not the sheets and towels smell at all moldy, are very important to me. This hotel was immaculate. The property has great character and when we had one minor issue with the air conditioner remote control, it was fixed immediately. Great find in Cozumel.
- cindy (10/5): A small hotel close to town - We loved this hotel! There were not many rooms so it didnt feel so touristy and busy! It was beautiful with so much plant life and areas to sit and enjoy it all. Our room was not large but comfortable with a great terrace and a hammock to enjoy. It was very clean which is always important to everyone! The bathroom and shower were very big with all the towels you needed. Our favourite was keeping the room door open along with the terrace door and the most wonderful breeze travelled through the room! It felt wonderful after a hot day in the sun!! The hotel was close to town so you could walk. Along the walk there were many restaurants you could choose from so when we were tired, we didn't even have to go to town to eat. One of our favourites was Chardonnay....we sat in a garden to eat our homemade, delicious Italian meal. Yes, I would go back there!!
- Marie (8/5): Nice hotel! - Nice hotel, close to everything, 5 minutes from the pier.
Memo the owner is very reliable, makes sure that everything is fine and will fix it fast if there's a problem.
The room are clean and have all the facilities.
It's a little bit loud at night (music) but on my side it was not annoying. Bring ear plugs and you won't hear anything.
The breakfast is included so its really nice when you want to go out fast for activities in the morning. It's not the best food I ate but was ok.
I absolutely recommend this hotel for anybody going to Cozumel, especially for a long term stay!
- Johnny (10/5): Mi casa su casa! - Great place to stay. Close to everything.
- Georgia (10/5): Peaceful and relaxing - This place is a gem. First, the architecture is very special. Every day I would notice something new I hadn't seen before. It is built to incorporate the lovely nature setting. Loved the lounge areas. The room was spacious and relaxing. Quiet, peaceful neighborhood within walking distance to so many things: restaurants, shopping, the plaza. Breakfast was very good and greatly appreciated. I would walk a couple blocks down the street to the Kondesa restaurant and have my evening margaritas.
The pool is across the street in an oasis type setting - very refreshing and relaxing.
My only concern is that by telling you how great this place is - it will book up and I won't be able to get a room!
Memo is a wonderful innkeeper and has created a truly delightful place to stay for the wayfarer.
Thank You so much.
- KJ (8/5): IT was okay, not amazing, not bad. - Never met the owner/manager Memo. Irma ran the show, she was fine. Architecture was cool, room was fairly basic. It was a pleasant stay but I'm not sure that we would go back. I think there are better options for this $.
- wendy (10/5): Unique and beautiful... - Memo kept in touch, was helpful and flexible, the place is beautiful, unique, and very comfortable! We had one of the best meals of our entire trip at the restaurant downstairs. We would highly recommend this hotel.
- Jim (10/5): Great stay. - Very nice hotel. Small and quiet (dog barking now and then). Great breakfast - something different every day. Nice pool, but not heated. Very nice rooms - each one different.
- itamar (8/5): - Very nice hotel.
Basic but Good rooms
Great breakfast.
Though no one to communicate with...
- Lindsay (8/5): Good location for downtown - This hotel was really cool. It has a neat layout and the breeze is amazing. Our room had AC, but we only used it after dark because the mosquitos were terrible. We had a great balcony with a hammock, table and chairs. We did have a chair break and the hammock fall down, but Memo (owner) was really quick to respond to concerns and checked on me numerous times to make sure I was okay after the hammock spill. If you cannot do steps or carry your bags in and out up various sets of steps, don't stay here. That's the only downfall of the layout- many steps to maneuver through. The breakfast was great and free with the room. This place is close to downtown, the boat taxi to Playa, many, many restaurants, shops, and tour companies within a 10 minute walk. There is not a swimming beach near here, but we walked up the street and rented a jeep one day to cruise around the island. The other side is beautiful and worth the drive to see, but if you don't, you'll still have plenty of things to walk to here. This place is much cooler than the giant resorts on the island and for half the price, you're right in all the action.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Pleasant staff and restaurant - Management only communicates thru email. If you have a pressing matter you may have to wait a while. Problematic if your keys and phone are locked in your room.
- Brigid (10/5): - We has a wonderful stay at this "home-tel". We loved the layout and design of the building, which Memo, the owner, helped with, since this used to be his home. He did not cut down any trees to build it and instead built around them or incorporated them into the building by making holes so they could go through. The limón room was great with 2 balconies, a large room, nice shower and ac or fan. The location is great, walking distance from the ferry. Breakfast was included everyday and Irma made a delicious Mexican breakfast. This is not your typical hotel with a lobby, but has a nice common area and really feels like a home. This is why the owner called it a "home-tel". The owner was easily accessible by email if we needed anything. We rented a motorcycle and were able to keep it locked up in his secure garage area overnight. We have no complaints! Everything was great!
- Nicolas (10/5): Amazing architecture - Fantastic stay and value for money. Each room has its own character and private area. We stayed in the Limon room - I took so many pictures as if I ever build my own home I'd want to steal some ideas!
My only observation (which wouldn't change my mind re staying again) was that it was a couple of streets further than ideal from the centre and not ideal to walk back too late.
I would recommend this hotel for the unique and boutique hotel style.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Quiet street downtown, close to ferry - About a 10 minute walk from the ferry on a quiet side street quite close to the water, near many resto options
- mark and marsha (8/5): - Nice place with a unique design and layout. It is near down town yet fairly quiet at night. We stayed two weeks and rented bikes near by. It was a great vacation with lots of snorkeling.
- georgia (8/5): Very happy with this trip - Best: 3 lovely pools with swim-up bars - tried all 3 twice. Great margaritas - love the pools. My recommendation: there are a lot more non-smokers than smokers. I really wish you would make the areas non-smoking. There were even people smoking in the pool. It is gross to breathe in these fumes.
More best: food was really good starting with the breakfast buffet; the lunch buffet and snack bars - to the dinner buffets and specialty restaurants. Service was also excellent.
Room was very clean and nicely furnished.
Other recommendations: please provide a map of the property at check-in. I had to go back to the lobby and ask 3 people to get one. I agree with other reviews that the walkways are dangerous - I tripped once and almost fell - the surface is too rough. Please consider non- smoking.
All in all I really like the resort and have already booked another stay here
