Guest Reviews
- Matthew (10/5): - Could not have asked for a better stay. Why stay in an average hotel when you can live in a luxury apartment in Hollywood for a few days, close to everything, with an amazing view and excellent decor?! Friendly staff, great communication, ideal parking, all at a more than reasonable price. Can't wait to come back and stay here again on my next trip to LA.
- Randell (10/5): Amazing stay - Our stay here was very pleasant had clear instructions on how to check in park etc. Amazing location will definitely stay here again
- Abdo (8/5): - The rent rate must include free parking they collect additional parking fees per day
- Cindy (4/5): - First of all, please note that if you rent this property it is done through Pelican Residences and NOT the building. I rented one of their apartments for 2 weeks and also paid additional fees for parking. When I got there, there was someone in my parking spot so I had to park in temporary parking until the person in my assigned spot moved. When I first checked in, the apartment was hot and had a bad smell that was trying to be covered up with plug in scent. Once I turned down the AC it did help with the smell but there was a strange smell the entire time (I lit candles because I didn't like the smell of the plug ins). I also cleaned the fridge because it had something red & sticky spilled in it. The first week it was just one person but then for the 2nd week I was there, there was one other person. One HUGE problem was that you are only allowed one key fob which you need to use to get on elevators, etc. I contacted the front desk and the team in the building to get another fob and they told me I had to work with Pelican. I texted and called them several times and got several different answers on why I couldn't get another fob. I also got a nasty email from Pelican saying that I wasn't supposed to speak to anyone from the building. Good Things: Great location-There is a Trader Joe's close. Small but nice gym and small pool. If you rent, do from the building and not Pelican
- Prem (2/5): - Extremely Disappointing and Unsafe Stay
I booked this property expecting a 4-star experience but was met with conditions worse than a budget motel. The apartment had only sheer blinds, which let in excessive light and made it impossible to sleep well. Additionally, several blinds were broken, and instead of apologizing or fixing them, management threatened to charge me for their broken blinds. There was also no hot water on my first night.
The day before my trip, I was informed that the parking spot I had reserved would not be available for the first day of my stay.
The biggest issue was safety and privacy. Without any prior notice, nine maintenance workers entered my apartment unannounced while I was getting ready. This made me feel extremely unsafe and uncomfortable. Management did not address my concerns and refused a refund after I canceled the rest of my stay and moved to another hotel.
I would strongly advise against booking this property. The quality, service, and lack of security fall far below what is acceptable for any traveler.
- Taimur (6/5): Bait and switch - Everything about this hotel was a bait and switch. First, the name. It is actually Hollywood Vue at Gordon an apartment building. As the real name implies it is on Gordon St, NOT Hollywood and Vine. The address is Gordon St. It is about a 10 minute walk to Hollywood and Vine.
There was no city view like the pictures implied.
Also, the sheets smelled horribly. We had to wash them.
Plus the communication/rules are a bit absurd for a hotel. We were told to walk gently on the floors because they have thin floors. Check out was at 10am and check in was 4 pm. The towels were old.
They charged extra cleaning fee even though Hotels.com states it is an all inclusive price.
- Rola (10/5): - Staying at this amazing apartment in Hollywood was a treat! The place was well located, safe and very clean. The views from the apartment were great. From the moment I booked until the moment I left, the team was very responsive and tried to make every aspect of my experience positive. I look forward to going back!
- Sandy (6/5): - The apartment is in a good location. However, I want to mention that some of the towels provided were not very clean and had a lot of hair on it.
- Ruel John (8/5): - 👍
- Kim (10/5): - We loved the spectacular LA views from this beautiful, modern apartment! Kitchen was stocked with everything needed to prepare meals. We paid to park in the parking garage, and it was well worth it. Elevator was fast. Pool was very nice. Security and front desk staffed 24/7. Loved this property!
- Luis (10/5): - Very nice
- Amy (10/5): - The apartmemt was perfect for our stay in Hollywood. The dedicated parking space was a huge help. It is very centrally located with all of our activities about 15-20 min away. The apartment was clean, had a well stocked kitchen, and plenty of towels. Communication from the manager was excellent and all of the instructions were clear and accurate. We would definitely stay here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place and location
- Marianne (8/5): - Dog barking all night at neighboring apartment and can easily hear conversations. Kept us up at night.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - The property was clean and very spacious. The bed was very comfortable.
- Saroo (10/5): - Nice 2 bedroom apartment, convenient with little kids, spacious room.
- CICELY (10/5): Family Dream - This place was very nice in a super secure building. The staff was very responsive and friendly to work with. Was upgraded to a 3 bedroom 3 bathroom free of charge. Great location in Hollywood.
- BEVERLY (10/5): - This was a great property for our recent vacation. Travelling with two pre-teen boys we needed more space and the opportunity for us to have centrally located places to eat that we could walk to. The two bedroom and two bathroom layout worked perfectly and having amenities such as a full kitchen and laundry was especially helpful. Communication was clear leading up to and throughout the stay. Would recommend and stay here again.
- Carlos (10/5): - It was a great place to stay. Very comfortable and very nice place to stay in. My family really enjoyed the space and we enjoyed our trip.
- Caryl (10/5): - Great place, it was clean and close to the place that we need to go to. I appreciate the constant communication and clear instructions. We would love to stay here again.
- Adam (8/5): - I travel for work in Hollywood, and this was a PERFECT location for where I needed to be. This apartment had all I needed for a home away from home, including a desk with a comfortable chair (how rare!), a useful living room area, a dining table and kitchen island with stools for work or meals, and a separate bedroom area and bathroom. With the kitchen and the washer/dryer in the unit, it beats any hotel stay. This area (no fault of the property) includes a notable unhoused population with tents and tarps on the street. I did not feel unsafe on these busy streets, but bring it up as it might be a consideration for some travelers when selecting a location to stay. Overall, a great location that I hope to come back to.
- Tiffany (6/5): - Property was dirty on arrival. The floor was very sticky, there were crumbs all over the floor in the bedroom area by the nightstands, small holes in sheets, linens need an upgrade, all towels were in the dryer when we arrived so I had to fold and put away. Way too many emails and check in reminders. Parking on site was great but they need to mention how you need to use the access card to get in. The reader is in a very akward spot mounted on the ceiling at a weird angle. All building mechanics are right outside the window of this unit, so when they started working on something involving a drill at 5am immediately outside the bedroom window, that was a real treat.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Do not stay here - Floors were filthy, bed was broken, very noisy
- Afaf (10/5): - It was a very fast and easy process getting this room. The view is beautiful! This apartment has everything you need. It's very clean and was very safe. I will definitely be coming back in the future. 10/10
- Chanelle (2/5): - Very nice view with the panoramic windows but it ends there. The garbage disposal was broke my entire stay even after numerous calls and messages to have it fixed. Several chairs were broken, the tissue holder was falling out the wall and the bed was pretty much on the floor. Based on the customer service I received after I paid my money I would not recommend staying at this apt. The communication was great when they were trying to keep me on schedule with making payments.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Great view and location, reserved parking spot in garage.
The floor was filthy when we arrived and we had to mop it down. Our 9-month old son crawling around had black knees and palms. Pretty gross.
Furniture is pretty cheap, some of it damaged.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Could be cleaner, internet was crap but overall stay was fine. Parking is conveniently located but the garage is cramped up
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Overall a great place to spend time in LA. Convenient location and nice updated building. Partying right above us one night kept us up until 4. We called the number for the apartment at 230 am and we got someone right away. The partying didn’t stop for a few more hours and started up again the next night but quieter quickly. I
- Rochelle (4/5): Hollywood on Vine - The apartment itself was located in a great location, right in the heart of Hollywood and everything was easily accessible. The building was also nice and modern, as it seemed to be a luxury apartment building. However cleanliness and customer service needs improvement. Upon arriving, we noticed the floors looked dirty and dusty, it was as if it wasn’t swept/mopped. The laundry machine also had a black rim in it, likely to be mold - so we didn’t use that. The apartment was also lacking basic amenities as the tub didn’t have a mat in it or outside of it, making it very likely for someone to slip and fall. Regarding customer service, it was nice that they let us check in early but a few days later we received a concerning notice from the building warning us of toxic chemicals that we might be exposed to. Lead and asbestos were one of those, so we reached out to the ground supervisor for more information related to this in terms of where in the building there may he lead or asbestos in attempts to seek reassurance. She said she would reach out to the building management and get back to us. We never heard back from her throughout the rest of our stay. So overall cleanliness and customer service need improvement.
- Jack (4/5): - no toilet paper ... late check fee .... it seems very shady .
- Veronica (8/5): California - Location was nice, however, didn't like the beds. Beds were too low and hard. I didn't like the fact that there were no tvs in the bedrooms.
- Les (6/5): - Nice well located apartment but let down by the fact the carpets were disgusting, 2 of the bedroom blinds were broken as were 2 of the bedside tables. The real problem for us was there was only one working key fob to access the building which for 4 adults caused us considerable difficulty. These snags should really have been addressed before our arrival and spoilt the experience for us.
- Kal (8/5): Very good! - The whole Experience was good, great Communications And The place was nice And clean! Thank you
- Jillian (10/5): - An amazing location and at a very reasonable price. We hadn't been to LA before so it was a little daunting but the location of the apartment was perfect for all the touristy things we wanted to do. It was clean, comfortable and very spacious.
- damien (10/5): Great apartment close to Hollywood walk of fame. - Nice tidy apartment with great all round views in the heart of Hollywood.really close to the walk of fame and all that Hollywood Blvd has to offer. Very secure building and parking was awesome. We would stay there in the future. Thanks guys.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location - Nice 3bdrm and 3bath in great area. Wifi didn’t work during our stay
- stephani (2/5): DON'T BOOK THESE APARTMENTS - Initially, I was excited to stay at this property based upon the photographs and amenities that were in the description. However, the problems began immediately after booking. First, there were additional hidden fees such as the 3.5% credit card fee and the 15% 'admin' fee adding an additional $170, which was just under the cost of another night. The bathroom light did not work and it took over 24 hours to get maintenance to fix it; the bed was a cheap futon and hard as a rock; and one of the most attractive features, the pool, was closed due to repairs. I had to tell customer care that if the bathroom light was not repaired by noon on my second day, I would demand a refund and check into the W hotel which was down the street. I could not get ready in the bathroom the first day; I could not swim or sunbathe at the pool; I did not sleep well at all and I paid an additional $170 that I did not expect. Before this, I had great experiences with Hotels.com but after this, I will not use Hotels.com nor would I recommend Heaven on Vine (Pelican Apartments). These things would have never happened at a traditional hotel and for the price of $200 per night, the service should have been impeccable.
- joanbe (8/5): Big 3 Bedriom apartment - We stayed at the apartment because it was close to Kaiser LA where my brother was having surgery. Large 3 bedroom apartment with 3 baths. Much better then a hotel and nicely decorated. They just need to update the coffee maker and get better towels with washcloths and hand towels. Would definitely recommend this apartment over a hotel!!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everyone was really helpful and the location is phenomenal! I would definitely recommend this to any working professional traveling that likes the perfect experience.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Be careful - The apartment was very nice. However be very careful when booking this. We saw a price that was confirmed to us on the hotels.com app, it even said to us this was the total price we would pay. Upon booking the apartment they then added around $150 for a credit card charge and cleaning fee amungst others. Although this was a nice appartment be very careful of the additiona fees.
- noel (10/5): Great accommodation - Great accommodation. Couple of minor wrinkles which they addressed immediately. Would have liked local tv but minor issue.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location and secure parking and building.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Convenient to everything. - This was our first time visiting LA and staying in this type of facility.
The place was just like it appeared in the pictures.
Would stay here again.
- Jaymz III (8/5): Stay Again - Overall the hotel/apt was nice. Although the building is very quiet and apt ceilings are high, in the morning I could hear the neighbors walking upstairs. Furniture is comfortable and appliances were new. Shower took a minute to get hot but no big deal. Convenience of washer and dryer in apt is awesome. Check-in was very smooth and underground parking is safe and secure. Thanks
- John (6/5): Chosen because close to job site we were on - Complex check in. Called when plane landed. They sent msg on phone, had to respond with my name etc. Then someone met us at complex. No place to park while waiting. etcCheck out not much different. Had to get car from assigned underground parking , park wherever possible and take key back to room, leave key then back to car.
- Ana (8/5): - We went to LA for my daughter's 12 birthday and Heaven on Hollywood afforded us the ability to walk to many of our places of interest. We were right on the corner of Vine & Sunset, which was a great location. The apt was very clean, spacious and equipped with shampoo, conditioner, soap, hair dryer and even toothbrushes and toothpaste. The only downside was that the bed was low and seemed to cave in in the middle. The only other thing I would confirm is the rate after the added fees. I selected it because it was within our budget at $179, but after looking at the invoice I was charged $214 extra for taxes and cleaning services. I would still stay here again, as it was my fault for not reading the fine print. This apartment and location will not disappoint.
- Kim (8/5): Great location. Nice building. - The location of this property was very good. They allowed us to check in early which was also a bonus. Jessica and Sonya were lovely and the check in process was seamless. The unit was clean and tidy. The only drawback was the quality of the furnishings and the supplies. The pull out was very uncomfortable for my 11 year old. Some of the furniture was broken or unstable (lamp in the room and barstool) and the kitchen faucet was really loose. It would have been nice to have more towels...there were only 3 towels and 1 facecloth. Minor concerns but would have made for a better experience.
- angelica (10/5): Heaven on Hollywood - Lovely apartment close to everything. Felt secure in doorman building. Parking was great . Big negative for me was that it did not have local or cable tv. I had not brought my laptop so was unable to get regular tv.
- Beth (6/5): LOPSIDED CONTRACT - The apartment was adequate for our stay. We arrived after 10:00 because of flight delays, so we were charged the late fee. Fine. That was in the contract. When someone parked in our reserved spot, we couldn't find a security guard or any other employee to help us. This happened late at night when we were weary from our day. It took over an hour for us to walk around trying to find someone, ANYONE who worked there. (And this area of town at night is not safe! Can you imagine if we had had a REAL emergency???) We finally found the owner of the car ourselves, and she moved it. Then the wifi and cable went out. We asked for a service call, but no one ever came. Long story short: you have all the responsibilities and none of the rights of this contract. The managers have the opposite: all the rights, none of the responsibilities.
- Nicholas (10/5): Nice apartment - Great value for money. Nice location
- Scott (10/5): Great apartment in a wonderful location - Great apartment in a wonderful location. Walking distance from all attractions. Loved it.
- Stian (10/5): Wonderful - Will come back again.
- dbydy (4/5): Location was good - This hotel was located in a good centralized spot and the parking was included. That's the good stuff. The room was basic. No towels in the kitchen, no paper towel, ran out of toilet paper and there was no extra. Toilet broke midway through stay yet no one came to fix even though it was reported. Luckily we had 2! Furniture was extremely uncomfortable and the desk chair was falling apart. Carpet was stained with who knows what. For the price I expected more. Not Beverly Hills Hotel more but more.
- Jeff (8/5): Hollywood experience - This hotel room was excellent. It had a wonderful view of Hollywood, eating and shopping was easily accessible, and tourist destinations were within walking distance.
- family vaca (4/5): family vacation - location good...bit dodgy at night....hotel had a bad smell....room amenities poor eg no soap and toilet paper...smoke alarm needed batt replaced and manager was poor here in getting it attentioned...i had to go buy one...nice beds...nice kitchen...
- adnan (8/5): Heaven on Hollywood - indeed - We were a family of four which included two restless kids ages 7 and 13. LA was our last leg of the journey and the extra space in the apartment was heaven sent. We checked in late in the evening (after an exhaustive drive and sleep deprived stay in Vegas) like a breeze. Even though there is no typical front desk, check out and any concerns were addressed by their staff (available on the phone) in the most effective and efficient manner - Jessica you are a star. The apartment had all the basic amenities perfect for a family. Our itinerary included walk of fame, Hollywood sign, Dolby theatre, universal, Disney, shopping, Santa Monica, Star homes and nightlife. LA has probably the worse traffic and therefore it was important to stay central. The location of this property couldn't have been more perfect - walk of fame was a block away, universal a ten minute drive and all other locations not many miles away. We definitely saved tons of commute time and managed to do all in few days. Plus walking distance from a bunch of dinning options. Recommended for anyone who wants to cover a lot in few days.
- Ariel (10/5): Awesome place to stay in Hollywood - Very clean, great location and beautiful suite. We loved staying here!
- PHILJUN (10/5): Wonderful location and a great Apartment - Everything was nice. Apartment was very nice - though we did not stay much inside the apartment because the neighborhood was beautiful. The location was great since everything was walking distance. Thank you!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location. Large space. Feel like home. Really nice experience.
- Kim (10/5): Our comfortable stay in Holloywood - 2bd/2bath apt was modern, clean and comfortable and gave us our privacy and space when needed. Kitchen was nice for unhurried coffee and breakfast in the morning. Sofa pullout could use some attention.
Location was easily walkable to Hollywood and Highland shopping/dining/tourist attractions. While communications with pelicanstay prior to arrival was quite excellent, there was a slight hassle to actually get into the room. But it was only minor and soon forgotten after seeing our lovely apartment. We would definitely stay in the same place again. Without a doubt.
- Shane (10/5): Nice apartment - loved it - Totally worth it for the price. Huge apartment - friendly staff and great location. Will return for sure.
- Tongtong (10/5): Ten out of ten - Wonderful apartment! - “We just completed our wonderful visit to this location. If I could rate it 10 stars, I would. The apartment itself was absolutely great. Full kitchen with a great table for eating. We took our three kids on a trip to Hollywood and we picked a winning apartment and location. The beds were incredible comfortable, great street view, very nice bathrooms with laundry, which is key! My wife and I love to work out. They have a great work out facility to the adjoining pool. We worked out and we could watch our kids swim right next door. Couldn't have been better. Just incredible. There are great restaurants within a 5 minute walk and very convenient grocery stores within a 5 minute walk. We always ate breakfast in the apartment and had lunch and dinner out each day. I HIGHLY recommend this location. If we could give 10 stars, we would. The staff was courteous and we'll be back soon.
- Xuejianyi (10/5): Awesome Experience - had a good experience. The staff was able to help me out so much even though my flight was late. I definitely recommend them! 5 stars review from me.
- Michael (10/5): Much better than a typical hotel. - Hotels in the area tend to be very expensive, dated, and not that great. However, this place was spectacular. Easily the equivalent of a suite in a hotel, with separate rooms for the kids, and spacious living space for the whole family. Although there is no "front desk" (it's a furnished apartment), the customer service people are very responsive to phone calls and emails.
I would definitely stay there again, and recommend it to others.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Our kids had a show at the Whisky A Go Go and it was great feeling like we were home. The apartment was extremely comfortable and clean.
- kathy (6/5): Ok for the money..close to sites in Hollywood. - It's not a hotel..you are subletting a furnished apartment. We were told the building was a year old and on first glance when you walk in..it looks very nice. However, there were alot of things wrong. Door to balcony had a broken lock, refrigerator made a roaring lawn mower sound the whole time, tv has no regular local/cable channels - only Roku and Netflix type channels which is fine unless you are trying to watch a live basketball game. The pull out bed on couch frame was bent so the pull out bed sloped down but since we had five we had someone sleeping in it each night. Really uncomfortable! One of the chairs was completely broken, a couple of lamps didn't work. First night...the man who brought us to room said he would have someone come and fix fridge and chair. Never saw him again. No on site staff..you have to call someone off site. Considering we didn't spend a whole lot of time in the apartment it was fine. Spacious for a family of 5..ok view, but on a loud street, a nice pool, parking included, decent kitchen, washer/dryer in unit. But it's not a hotel..doesn't feel like a hotel. Maybe other units in building are nicer...if all you are looking for is a place to sleep at night in an easy location in Hollywood. .it's fine. If you want to feel like you are in a luxury hotel. .this is not it.
- Adam (10/5): Very spacious 2 bedroom condo in a great location - The check-in process is a little different since this is a condo building and not a hotel. You have to meet with the owners to get the keys. However it's well worth it since the condo is a very nice and spacious with 2 bedrooms/2 bathrooms and a free private parking spot. The condo was also very clean and immaculate. The location at Sunset/Vine is at the heart of Hollywood as well.
- sanghyun (10/5): Family was happy in the apartment. - Thank you.
- David (10/5): Totally worth it! - Surprisingly nice place it turned out to be. Will visit again.
- Brian (10/5): Would recommend to a friend - It was a very nice stay, the room was not ready when we got there but was ready within an hour. There were a few things that didn't work in the rooms but other than that everything else was great.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Definitely An Experience - Was not happy with this hotel at all. Advertised that you pay when you arrived, then proceeded to charge our credit card for $500 when we booked. After we complained to Hotels.com about that, but kept the hotel because it was too late to keep looking..,2 weeks later, the hotel tried to charge our card for the entire amount! Again..it's advertised as pay when you arrive, which they attempted to explain as an advertising error. The room had broken lights in the bedroom that we rigged to work and the light in the closet didn't work at all. We had to buy our own towels and wash cloths. The neighbor upstairs stomped and blasted music whenever they heard us enter the condo, it was the strangest experience ever! Never again.
- Keizo (10/5): Enjoyable stay! Thank you - The apartment was nice. Thank you.
- Leonard (10/5): Good hollywood experience. - This is the first time I stayed in an apartment. It was a different experience than a hotel. Much bigger space and more freedom. Nice experience. Location was amazing. everything was walking distance.
- andrey (8/5): Good functional place to stay in Hollywood - This, of course, is not a hotel, but serviced apartments. I got a very nice apartment, very conveniently located. Hard to find another place in LA that is both in a walkable area and well served by the public transit. Very functional and safe building, all the necessities within a block. Well furnished and overall quite comfortable place. Adequate service all in all. We had a minor problem (broken lock) and though it was dealt with, in general fairly adequately, there could be an improvement: the locksmith arrived quickly, but the company representative got stuck in trafic, and they would not have the locksmith come up alone for far too long. I understand the admirable attempt to not bother the customer and resolve everything without him, but when the customer is locked out of the apartment he prefers to be bothered, if that gets him in faster. Once the minor problem was resolved, repairs were done efficiently, but procedures should be improved there. In general, if I do not sound excited, it is only because I am not excited about LA. It is not the fault of the place.
- Sam (8/5): Right off the strip.. nice affordable rooms - The room was perfect... The checking in and out was a little hassle and it being an apartment/hotel was a little weird but would definitely stay again.
- Sarah (10/5): Surprisingly wonderful experience. - Great pricing for such a large apartment! Went there with no expectations but very happy that we booked this apartment
- Damion (10/5): Private , well located and friendly staff - We had a late check in and the staff waited for us until our arrival, showed us the place and provided us with the facilities around. The apartment is spacious had everything you need in it, attraction were near by. Quiet and safe at night, will definitely choose it again
- Octavio (10/5): Beautiful new apartment! - Brand new apartment. Nice, clean rooms and very friendly staff! Had everything what we wanted.
- Not Provided (10/5): Nice apartment in a great location! - Nice apartment in a great location. Couldn't ask for anything more.
- Verified traveler (4/5): It smelled horrible. The entire building was musty - From the moment you walk in the entrance of the building, right by the front desk, it simply is smelling like old wet laundry. The elevator rode to the 2nd floor unfortunately didn't resolve this issue. The one bedroom fully furnished was nice inside. Even better than the pictures actually. But we decided to not keep our booking and went to the Redberry hotel instead.
