Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The top pool was always under maintenance, the place conditions can improve 10x within very little budget, internet it is something you cannot count on it. I was working during my stay and it was a big disappointment and hustle for me. On the other hand, it's located in a great area, staff was willing to help but no actions were taken, I had problems with my aircon. Kept dripping water on my eye all night long. Over all it was a Ok experience.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - No one speaks English, the breakfast is very basic and too much construction next door. Love the different pools.
- Jacques (8/5): - Great area, close to all but still a more quiet than central 5th.
- MrsTort (8/5): - Great and friendly staff, breakfast could improve
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very nice and kindfull personal... It has been a great Time there!!!
- Roy (6/5): Good for the price - About what I expected for the pow cost. Hot water at sink did not work, but shower was great. No blanket, just a sheet. Check in was OK, but a little surprised by $500 Peso deposit, which was returned next morning. Had to walk across street through two gates to get to my room and back to the front desk the next morning.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Convenient location, good price, kind staff, close to everything.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had rented a studio with a kitchnette. The check in started at 3h00pm but we arrived before. We were kindly invited to stay at the pool, put our luggage safe and to use the amneties while waiting for our room. The girls working there were very kind and helpful. The roof pools are amazing and you are 10 minutes away walking to the beach. To go dowtown it’s about 30minutes walk but la Quinta is very near to walk on it, half an hour goes so quick when you have so much action around you. Las perlas is not in the complex but just on the next street. Check carefully where the check-in office is before arriving. The breakfast was included, it was simple but everything you need, coffee or tea, juice, toasts and a fruit.
To be a positive critique : the kitchen would need some more accessories but you have everything to be pleased. For the cleaness, The bathroom, bed and kitchen were very clean i would pay I little more attention to the floor as it was a bit dusty when we arrived since no one used the room for a while.
We would definitely return there as we enjoyed our stay in playa del Carmen !
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great price and location. Pleasant staff. Would stay again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Front desk reception and ongoing support was most excellent. Clean comfortable place. All amenities as advertised
- Yacine (8/5): Good deal. - Nice hotel, and really good service .
Really close to the city center and to the beach.
- reagan (8/5): Great option - I have stayed at this hotel (or group of hotels) many times, probably about 80 nights in total. The staff is friendly and it’s in a great location. There are a few pools and none of them are ever very busy. They recently added an elevator to one of the one of the hotels, which is great for getting to the rooftop pool. The rooms are basic, but clean. The bedding isn’t the nicest, but for the price of the room it is doable. I have stayed in all of the types of rooms they have available, and the ones with the kitchenettes are definitely the way to go, and their 2 bedroom apartment is really nice. Wifi signal is weak in most areas of the hotel, but if you can get on it is free. No matter what hotel (blue coral, la playa or las perlas) I book, I seem to get whatever room they pick when I arrive, so I would say go for the cheaper option when you book.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Paid extra for breakfast to be sent to a restaurant (off campus) and told that food is not included only orange juice and that we had to pay 200 MXN$ per person for an omelette as that was the only option. The website and Expedia states there is a fitness centre, this is also not true. When we asked a receptionist they told us there has never been a gym at all and this is one of the reasons why we booked this place for our holiday. States on the website that the staff are bilingual, they do not speak much English so it was lucky that my partner speaks Spanish. Location is the only good thing about this hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel was fine for what it cost. Some of the personnel miss informed me about the ammenities however, such as the swimming pools. The Wifi never worked in my room, and the rooms are not sound proof whatsoever, so I was woken through the night with lots of noise from the pool, hallways etc. The room only had the rubber blackout curtain on the window, no other. The tv channels were scarce. I did like the location ...it was easy to walk and enjoy the 5th avenue and the beach was walking distance too.
- Edgar (8/5): - Todo bien
- Flor (8/5): - spacious, close to beach, no elevators, off 5th ave
- Verified traveler (2/5): Worst experience dont stay here - Worst experience dont stay here! Super far from the 5th avenue dangerous at night it is in a bad neighborhood.
The lady in the reception which I believe is from Argentina was rude, didnt even bother to greet us. We even grabbed a bottle of whater ourselves. Maybe she hates her job. The breakfast it said here it was included and she told us it was only 1 day as courtesy (we booked for 2 nights) supposely it should have been 2 days of breakfast.
The place was clean, the cleaning people were very nice.. however if you want to sleep in dont stay here by 8 am they have a ridiculous noise going on I woke up scared like what happen what is that loud noise.
- DANIEL (10/5): Bom custo beneficio !
- Verified traveler (8/5): Muito bom.
saludosa cordiales.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Comodo - Excelente
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very helpful staff - especially at the front desk - Joaquin at the front desk was so helpful and friendly.
- Inger Danielsson (6/5): - Okej. Bra pris, rent, trevlig personal men väldigt lyhört.
- ignacio (6/5): Good location right on 5ta Avenida - The condo is walking distance from restaurants and bars on 5ta Avenida. The studios are small. The sofa bed is uncomfortable but the bed is very comfortable. The maid service was very good. The room was clean. The kitchen is simple but has all the necessities. I will stay there again.
- lucy (2/5): Terrible place! Would not recommend. - We only stayed there one night and that was enough! The place is located in a very derelict area. Our room was on the fifth floor with no elevators! Stairs are pretty bad. Front office was over two blocks away. We were not given any key to the front gate so we had to wait for some other guests to come in so we could get to our room. The next morning someone had wedged a rock to keep the door open! No blankets on the beds so we froze as the temperature was below 60 F. We had to use our towels to keep our feet warm! The room was pretty bare but clean. It actually looked like the room was still in construction as the plumbing was loose and there was barely a coat of paint in the bathroom. The front office gave us a map and showed us how to reach the beach. No beach access that we could find, only a fence around boats and no street lights so we did not go further. Not a place we would recommend.
- Victor (10/5): Tranquilo y bien ubicado - Bueno, bonito y barato.
- Kayla (6/5): Back hurts from hard bed - Far from most places. Boyfriend and I walked everywhere in playa so it was hard to get around. 24/7 guard was nice. Pool had bugs in it. Not really a great experience for us.
- sergio (2/5): Must be a joke! - I decide to give it a try to this “condo” I understand I got a good price but nobody told me under what conditions, just look at my pictures! This is not my first rodeo in playa del Carmen and let me tell you for that price you can have 1000 places Better that this, just imagine I check in and check out in less than 10 minutes, one image talk more than 1000 words.
One last thing when I check out the manager (I forget her name but she had an Argentinian) first thing up front instead of offering help, she said “you know you are not getting your money back right” hoooo thank you! That’s a coustomer service ha! Please do not go to this place, it’s true they are a few block from the beach and the Quinta venue, but it’s not the best location trust me it has lots of “if” around that descriptions.
Well please look at the pictures and be the best judge.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Super günstiger Preis und gute Lage. Alles sauber und die Mitarbeiter freundlich. Schöne Poollandschaft.
Leider sind gerade Baumaßnahmen, was ab früh morgens viel Lärm beschert. Die Zimmer erfüllen ihren Zweck. Leider kein Fenster ( nur zum Flur hin).
- Gio (8/5): - Overall great experience. Friendly staff nice room and bathroom and great location walking distance to everything beach and night scene. Overall experience was great would recommend and would stay again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice hotel right by 5th Avenue and the beach. - Nice place to say right by 5th avenue and the beach. Everything is pretty much in walking distance.
- ik (2/5): horrible - The room smell bad, floor was wet, no elevators we stay on the 4th flower it was so hard going up and down with kids!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Friendly and courteous personal - My overal experience was great clean facilities quiet rooms good location can beat the price I will definitely recommend it.
- Melissa (10/5): Vacation Ecstasy - I cannot say enough good things about this hotel! I paid a very low price and didn't have to comprise on amenities at all! I had a kitchen and separate bedroom with air conditioning. I was only a couple blocks from the beach and shops but the area was blissful because it was so quiet. I felt safe regardless, but I also noticed that they hired security to watch the hotel at night! I had a terrace and every time I went up to visit the pool on the rooftop I was alone. It is a tall building so the view you get of the ocean and of the city might just be the best. It was so tranquil and relaxing!! The maid service was top notch. Although, they didn't know any English they were so friendly! They cleaned the room everyday and went above and beyond, putting my shoes in a neat line and even putting my dirty clothes into a neat pile! I also caught them sweeping the grass outside! For the low cost and experience I could not be happier!
- ms charlton (8/5): Comfortable bed and pillows...close to beach - Comfortable...close to beach and 5th ave. Clean, quiet and super comfortable bed. Very nice staff. Awesome pools.
- Mark (4/5): Not expecting a 5th floor walk-up !! - The room was small, no exterior window, NO ELEVATOR, and at the very far end of 5th Ave.
Construction noise all day.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel - We loved our stay here! The staff is friendly and always willing to help in any way. The rooftop pool was great with a beautiful view of the ocean to one side. The room was always clean with a nice, clean smell to it. The beds were a little hard and not all rooms had a safe in them. Overall we had a great experience!
- Verified traveler (8/5): no more all-inclusive - When we got there we were welcomed and we felt welcome. Our room was just what we expected, and the rooftop terrace, what a great view, was outstanding, and the pool was great. We felt safe in the area we were in, and it was always a nice walk home. If we have the opportunity to travel next year we will book the same room. We would like to thank you for the great vacation!!!!!
Paul and Sylvia
- Aldo (8/5): Great price - It was very affordable, nice pools, a little far from the action, but that was okay, 5 mins walking. Lot of construction around the hotel.
- Kevin (6/5): - O,K, but lots of stairs. Long walk to the beach. Close to shopping.
- Pierre (2/5): This place is a scam - I reserved and fully paid my room at Las Perlas 3 month before my vacation. When I got there around 21;00 the desk person said that they did not have any room at La Perla and set me up on the other side of the street in probably the worst room I have ever stayed in. Noisy, Windows over the inside staircase, neon ceiling lights, no lamps, just an awful room.
The clerk said that they would change our room the next morning. So the next morning we had to stick around for a few hours, the person at the front desk said they did not have any standard room at la Perla and if I wanted to change room I would have to pay an Extra 600 pesos. So I ended up paying the 600 pesos plus an extra 500 pesos deposit (that they have never reimbursed even after 3 weeks) so it cost me an additional 1100 pesos and lost a full morning of my precious vacation.
This not the first time this situation occurs at this hotel.
This place is a scam unfortunately.
- Verified traveler (6/5): quick get away - the week spent in playa del Carmen was fun. there are a lot of things to do in the town, on the beach and amongst the local people.
- Gwen (8/5): Newish hotel in the up and coming North end of PDC - Easy walk to new and trendier north end eateries and to nice beaches. Away from noise of the center of fifth ave. Plenty of room to spread out for a longer stay. Accommodating staff. Decent pools. Free garage parking. If you know this town you won't be put off by building projects in progress in this neighborhood. Interesting mix of locals and tourists and expats. Nice place to stay for the price if you don't have unrealistic expectations of getting the same amenities you'd have at the larger resorts on the beach.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good - It's a nice basic modern place, the only thing i do not like is they do not have an elevator.
- Jennifer (8/5): Nice hotel Close to shopping and restaurants. - The kitchen could be better equipped. The hot plate didn't work very well and we only booked the hotel because of the kitchen. The staff were friendly and courteous but be prepared as only one spoke English. The beds were comfy...better than most 5 star hotels we have stayed in but the shower was pitiful. The air conditioner wasn't working when we arrived but as soon as we mentioned it to the staff it was fixed. Underground parking was great and security was present at all times which was reassuring as the street looks a little rough.
- Verified traveler (2/5): NO! - - Loud construction (8am to 8pm) all over the property, but mostly right above my room
- No blanket, just one sheet.
- No table, desk, or any surface to put anything on (had to put bag / clothes on floor)
- Terrible water pressure
- TV didn't work
- Cockroaches
Never again!
- Dissappointed! (2/5): I broke my ankle and have never received any - Management refuses to even reply to me when i have contacted them for compensation!! I slipped on the outside stairs (no warning signs posted) while going to the lobby for gelp with my tv as there were no phones in my rm to call them
- david (2/5): Cheap hotel with a lot of stairs. - Cheapy hotel. Had a lot of stairs and reception did not have our reservation. They seemed unprepared and gave generic answers.
- C (4/5): Very Basic Hotel not meant for a Long Stay - Extremely difficult for anyone with mobility problems...more that 30 steps to get to 1st floor room. Staff seems untrained, and cleaning staff is extremely noisy, shouting and laughing to each other all day---4-5 hrs as they clean. Our refrigerator didn't work, only freezer. Took two days to get second fridge, (and that freezer didn't work), delivered to the room...not much space left with two fridges in room. I am reasonably bi-lingual but had a great deal of difficulty getting towels replaced in bath when they were removed during cleaning. We only had one sheet exchange in 10 day stay. toilet flushed poorly.
The pool pictured in listing doesn't not exist, by the way, just the furniture is the same. the rooms have dorm-style open shelves and no closet. Noise of furniture shifting in kitchens sounds like nails on chalkboard, and is constant as people use their kitchens and the cleaning crew moves them around to mop the floor. It may sound like a small thing, but tough if you are inside on rainy days or are trying to sleep. Staff is friendly but not responsive, no one seems to be in charge. I attended Language school in Playa and lived in the dorm, and had much better services and facilities at the student dorm.
Lots of one-night stays, with lots of young people moving in and out at all hours. All in all, there were few quiet nights, no quiet days. We counted the days till we could go on to our next hotel.
- Yoly (6/5): It was ok - Too many stairs,no elevator one of the guest has knee problem. Wi-Fi was HORRIBLE!!! Staff was great, helpful and friendly. Room was clean.
- Luke (10/5): Nice Hotel in upcoming area - Las Perlas was refreshing; as the third place we stayed in Mexico, it was the first place where we felt like the staff was trying to make us happy. They spoke plenty of English and put up with our attempts at Spanish. The rooms were really clean and modern looking, super high ceilings. Views of the ocean and sunrise were great. Huge balcony.
We were about three blocks from the Northern end of the nice part of 5th Ave. You can tell the area is up and coming with lots of construction all around, but not quite there yet. The area comes across as a little rough at this point, but we never felt unsafe. All things said, I don't think the location can be beat, especially for the price, with some great local places to eat nearby and the proximity to the uncrowded northern end of the beach.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Just read the details please - Simple review, but judge which things are important to you.
Roof-top pool, view, facilities are fabulous. Staff very helpful.
Rooms are fine, only pretty small, but comfortable. Just not a lot of sitting around area. We don't spend much time in the rooms, so no problem for us. (Have to watch TV in bed). Little kitchenette helps.
Emerging tourist area on Calle 50, we know it very well, but for others might seem "still a locals" area. I can tell you this, we walked up and down all the non-tourist areas day and night, and felt very safe. Just understand if you are a "resort" person, go to a resort.
Great deal for what you get in our opinion, as Playa is getting pretty expensive.
WiFi decent, but had to move around occasionally to get the best signal.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location - Loved the view and everything looked great. Had trouble with hot water aka there was none.
- Not Provided (4/5): Christmas in Playa - Do not be fooled by the pictures. This area is still under development and neighborhood is not pretty at all. The hotel building itself is new but a lot of construction going on and a lot of old ugly buildings with a lot of trash around.
Stuff was friendly but just a few spoke English. 4 days no room service I had to request it
- Ornella&Luca (10/5): Great hotel feels like you are at home! - First time , felt like the hotel is brand new , clean very well kept me and my husband will go there again!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - We wanted to tack a few days in Playa del Carmen onto our week at a resort in Cancun. This was pretty good for the price. Im glad I got the resort staff to help me confirm the reservation before I left Cancun. The Phone number on my confirmation letter was wrong. Even then, they didn't tell us the address was wrong too. The taxi driver drove around awhile before we asked for directions and discovered that we were actually there. The name on the building was different and different street was different but they had our reservation and very nicely apologized for the confusion. Check in was easy and as expected. The unit was clean and tidy. Internet is included. Yeah! And it worked most of the time. Yeah, yeah! The noise from the pool pump/filter kept us awake on he first night. Our refrifgerator didn't work so our food spoiled before they figured out it needed recharging. The cooking unit didn't work either but the microwave did. No ice or ice maker but there are a couple of small markets nearby. It is a fair walk to town (or short taxi ride) but the beach, small eateries and markets are very close. Overall, it met our needs for the few days we were there. Most important for us was the very pleasant and very helpful staff who helped in confirming our transportation to the airport, solved the issues with the pool pump the refrigerator, gave excellent directions to places we wanted to go, and made good morning coffee in the lobby.
- Angelica (8/5): The hotel is good - The hotel is close to 5av which is the Main Street in Playa Del Carmen, u can also walk to the beach mamitas beach club, Coralina day club are close, the hotel is kind of new so the beds and the staff it is good, there is Air conditioning who works well, the pools are good, the room just had a small fridge not microwave or small kitchen as I thought, sometimes if u are in the four floor u can hear noises from construction or the wind, was plain but comfortable, there is not elevator so if you have disabilities u should know this. The main parks Xcaret xplor are close too
- Allen (8/5): Great except nearby beach not great - Nice, modern condo with balcony, nice bathroom, cool pool, friendly staff, but the nearby beach isn't very nice.
- janett (6/5): is ok , but the information offer is not correct - the condo is clean and nice , but the AC do not work that good and it takes for ever to cool, the AC is only on the bed room not on the hole property.
there is no ocean view , and on the hotel publicity say is partial ocean view.... not true.
also is close to the fifth street but like at the end and around the property is not good looking at all. is a little bit scare to walk around. we got the 4th floor no elevator not nice to take the baggage down.
but the condo and pool is nice
