Guest Reviews
- Simon H (8/5): - Rund down place
- Lisa (2/5): - Room smelled like mold/mildew-including bedding & towels. Not even a window to open. We had to keep the door open all night to partially mitigate the smell. Do not stay here if you have asthma or value not inhaling mold.
- Torsten Creutzburg (7/5): -
- Ray Rui (2/5): The kind of motel truckers stay at during an apocalypse. - Location Cold, uncomfortable, old moldy smell, no heating, shower was leaking, water was murky and not drinkable, had a coffee maker but no coffee tea or filter. Sound proof was horrible. Mattress is hard. Room is extremely damp, washroom didn’t ventilate.
- Jennifer (3/5): Pics are mostly of the bathroom but the entrance walls were dirty. I walked in, seen it and left. I was out the $ but - Run down and dirty It was run down and dirty
- Guest (5/5): -
- Wayne (2/5): Garbage everywere, got lucky and was able to cancel. - Nothing.
Not the grounds.
Not the rooms. The old pictures on the website that made it look nice.
The garbage everywhere while we explored the grounds because the room was not ready at the agreed upon check-in time.
Broken docks, garbage everywhere, everywhere, everywhere...
- Moniz (3/5): Not worth the money, Zero Star - To be very honest we didn't like anything about this place except that it was located near a family member.
We will never return or recommend this place to any of our family and friends. Upon entering, we faced a very strong mold and musty smell, a very small and dated room, along with a very leaky bath faucet that ran all day and night. No side table lamps by the bed, uncontrollable air conditioning that ran non-stop, We even had the front desk guy help turn the fireplace on to take the chill out of our room
The mattress and pillows are also very old and should be replaced.
If we were able the get a refund we would have taken our money and ran to another place.
- Bill (6/5): - Needs an update. It was old when I stayed over 20 years ago. Not much has changed. Not worth the nightly rate
- Janice T (6/5): Ok for the price. - There is no breakfast included. There is enough hot water, some dishes, but bring your own food, coffee etc. tim hortons is a bit of a drive away. It could have been cleaner, the screen door is broken, there were some dead mosquitoes in the bed sheets.
- Jobin-des (8/5): - Low price, was able to check in from the phone and arrive at 2am No AC, but nights are fresh
- Guest (1/5): bug infested!! don’t stay here - location was great and so were the amenities it’s full of roaches could t stay there walked i. watched them walking the walls. guy at the desk told me he could give me another room but they are everywhere! why are they renting infested rooms.
- Guest (5/5): It was just a place to sleep - Staff very friendly
Rooms in need of up grade for the pricel
Location very nice Water leaking in bath tube
Water stains on cieling and walls
Carpet very old
Light showing under door
Curtains xery old
Furnature from the 60's
Comfortor on bed looked old
- Mark (8/5): On the Water ! - Standard Contractors Motel. Does the Job Nicely
- Bryce (1/5): Bad -
- Darlene (4/5): - It's a very rundown establishment.
Walls, baseboards, door, very dirty.
The dock and Adirondack chairs are broken and felt unstable to be walking on dock.visually very unappealing.
We had travelled all day and knew the deadline to cancel reservation was 2 days prior so we did stay.
- Kyle (1/5): Bad -
- Anonymous (3/5): OK - the bed & pillows were very comfortable the washroom had no fan & the overall room was too small
- Evan (8/5): - dated property but good location and clean
- Lori (6/5): - did not like carpets in room. bathroom was not very clean, no fan, windows on front door board up.
- Piyush (5/5): Passable -
- Blair (8/5): - Good for price
- Verified traveler (10/5): My husband was right - The first time I went I was pretty snobbish about the property, but after a couple of stays I could see my husband was speaking reason and that's a very nice little hotel.
- Martine (1/5): Bad - We had a hard time getting the door to unlock to the room, we found some spiders webs, some dust on the table. The grass needs to be cut! You can’t open the window!
- Elizabeth (8/5): - The property is owned and operated by a young couple who are slowly improving and trying to make a go of the premises. Courtesy, consideration, and cleanliness were top-notch. It will become a beautiful place in time.
- Palin (2/5): Very poor - That it was reasonable prize for i thought It false advertising it says to rent cabins, camping stuff not true. It needs alot of work
But the owner was nice
- Ted (6/5): Pleasant -
- Anonymous (5/5): Passable -
- Annanda (5/5): Passable - The location, and the price . The room was full of mold, it wasn't clean, the bathroom was dirty, and the pipe leaked in the tub all nite .
- Dwayne (8/5): Very good - Excellent value for what you get.
Clean and comfortable. Room was small, but excellent value.
- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Murray (6/5): - The room was very small but was clean. Property itself was badly in need of maintenance as the lake was virtually not accessible due to grass around the property being knee high. Thought that the property was abandoned when we arrived due to neglected maintenance.
- Mark (8/5): Good Value - Work Related Trip. Good Value for your Dollar !
- Louise (1/5): Bad - Rooms are very dated. Windows didn't open.
Motel on a well and water stains in the tub and sink.
Insufficient water pressure to hold water temperature
Room has no air conditioning.
Owners young couple doing their best to survive
- Raymond (1/5): Dirty Room - Location was perfect for what we needed. Tub was rusted out on one side and the inside and ran all night long.
The electric fireplace rattled loudly so we couldn't sleep.
There was food in the fridge and the freezer was filthy.
Coffee maker was filthy.
Bedskirt had white junk on it so use your imagination🤮
The lawns were extremely overgrown and steps were broken.
Sheets were taped to the box spring.
Very damp, moldy smell.
Window was filthy and walls were buckling.
- Joanne (4/5): Not the Edgewater that I remember, sadly. - A few pluses:
We found the beds to be comfortable.
My husband was pleased with the variety of tv channels.
We like motels where you can pull right up to the door. So many minuses:
The bathtub was absolutely filthy. Did not use it for fear of catching something or getting dirty.
Had to telephone the owner to come back from Walmart to check us in. Could not read the sign on the door telling us to call the owner if door was locked (try typing it next time)
No a/c, only a floor fan. Will not keep you cool in summer. At the price point we paid, we should have had a/c. plus more.
No latches on doors so we did not feel entirely safe. Anyone with a key can get in, no chain to stop them.
You couldn’t walk down to the water as the grass was so high and it’s tick season. Such a pretty location that was overgrown and unkempt.
This was not our first stay at the Edgewater. It has never looked this run down before. There is no pest control and the insects are taking over the place. Wish the owner took the same pride in the motel as former owners did through the years. You have a beautiful location that no one will ever experience. All of the pictures on the website must be from years ago. Invest a little money in one room at a time and restore this great motel to it’s former coziness please. The Edgewater deserves it.
- Darryl (4/5): Disappointing -
- Kelly (2/5): - If I could 0 stars I would. Filthy. Garbage found between the bed and the wall. A thick layer of dust on the fire place. Inaccurate wifi password. Bathroom ceiling full of brown condensation marks. The tub was stained and dirty and ants crawling up the walls. Uncomfortable beds. We woke up full of ants. Owner was belligerent when confronted stating "you must have brought the ants in." He declined refund multiple times however he did refund in the end and apologized. I absolutely will alert people about this. I understand dated rooms but You can not slack on cleaning or cut corners.
- Erin (1/5): Bad - The desk staff was polite and helpful There was blood on the sheets. We didn’t end up staying at all
- Lori (4/5): - Electrical extension cords plugging in appliances Heater. Fan. Bed not stable. Photos indicate beach at facility. Realty is street in front. Woods in back. Unkept beach area down the road.
- Amanda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (6/5): Pleasant -
- Agnes (8/5): - A little dated but comfortable nonetheless
- Ronaldo (8/5): Good - Location and quiteness NA
- Barrett (8/5): Very good -
- Dagenais (3/5): Poor -
- Kevin (1/5): WORST MOTEL EVER - Nothing place is dirty and full of bedbugs the owner are the most disrespectful person i have ever seen to bw treated likebwebwere some kind of criminal , thevownerbwas yelling at us despite the fact that we were very polite and respectful towards him. i came very close ro call the police on him justvfor the way he was talking to us
- Megan (7/5): Good -
- Jonathan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Safi (8/5): Very good -
- Amanda (8/5): Very good -
- Shirley (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ju-Ju (2/5): - The first room was filthy… bathroom floor was not swept or washed.. the tub was stained and full of crusty mildew … the tub Matt had black mould on it.. the show tray was dirty… so I switched rooms .. this room had dust everywhere and the matress was stained
- Lori (3/5): Poor -
- Ju-Ju (6/5): - A little out of town… price was good
- Blair (5/5): Passable - The location was near amenities and check in/check out was easy. Space to make and store food was a nice addition. The floor of the room was very dirty and the bed did not seem clean because of this. The tub was terribly stained and leaked the entire time. The fridge unit was very loud.
- Lori (3/5): Poor -
- Chishti (8/5): Very good -
- Barry (2/5): - Bathtub rusting out
- Colin (8/5): - I cant say enough about this property. This is our second visit to the Edgewater and is our go to when stopping over in Liskeard area. The previous trip was just to meet family from the south and soend a few days together. This trip was to visit Notre-Dame-du-Nord to finalize our new home plans. The rooms are more then adequate with 1 or 2 double beds (comfy). There is a snall kitchenette with counter top burners, a sink and a fridge. Basic flatware, serving dishes etc were available. The water was hot on the bathroom and the heat was more than adequate. If youre looking for the Hilton, carry on. If youre looking for a safe, quiet and comfortable place to lay your head this is absolutely for you. I love these 1950s style Motor On Inns where you park at your door.
- Barrett (10/5): Quite, comfortable and affordable. - The location is perfect. Looking forward to seeing it in the summer I liked everything
- Rehmat (6/5): Pleasant - Location is good Not Really
- Ayodeji (6/5): Pleasant -
- Eileen (2/5): - Shower was absolutely DISGUSTING. Never seen anything so terrible in a hotel/motel. Wish I could add a picture here, words can't describe how gross it was.
- Eileen (2/5): - Shower was absolutely DISGUSTING. Never seen anything so horrific in a hotel. Wish I could add a picture here. Needs to be seen to be believed
- Spencer (10/5): Good deal - Great stay overall, the hotel could use sone renovation.
- Amanda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bill (9/5): Much better than I expected. - Standard motel room, great location, and very good value for the price.
- Lori (9/5): Superb -
- Bill (9/5): Superb -
- peter (6/5): - You get what you pay for. Good value for the price.
- Bill (9/5): better than expected - Standard motel room, electric fireplace, stove, fridge, sink combo.coffe maker microwave, great value. will stay there again.
- Damien (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wally (8/5): - Older property but very clean. A little out of the way for dining.
.
- Spencer (10/5): Nice stay - Then room's temperature was cold and the heater was loud but decent stay otherwise. 👌
- David (5/5): Passable - No e Bath tap leaking and massive stain. No reason to give me that room as only one other person was staying
- Guy (3/5): Poor - There was a lock on the door. The bed, and pillows were itchy and uncomfortable. Constantly dripping from the leaky bathtub faucet, no thermostat in the room, so I either froze, or sweat from the loud plug in fireplace. First time I leave a motel at 3 in the morning because I couldn’t sleep. Should have just slept in my vehicle instead.
- Mélanie (6/5): - Fuite dans la salle de bain et une partie bien rouillée. Tache sur les draps.
Wifi bien.
Jamais vu personne à l'accueil, j'ai du appeler pour connaître ma chambre qui etait laissée ouverte.
- MARK (8/5): - Good, economical accommodation located in a convenient place. We would likely book here again if the deal was good.
- Naomi (5/5): Passable - Good water pressure Dirty. Lamp broken. Too hot and couldn't control heat. Bathtub really dirty
- Verified traveler (2/5): Traveller beware. - This room was listed at market price for the area. Meanwhile ths pillows and pillow covers were old and yellow I put a shirt over the pillows to sleep as they were too disgusting. The sheets were discolored as well...original colour was white. Not sure if the linnen were washed between uses. Someone's else's hair on pillows other than mine. Audio visual equipment in room not operational. Bathroom cramped and dust and dirt accumulated on side of ledges. Walls in bathroom dirty. Is bathroom sanitized between customers ??? Towels in bathroom worn. The owners of this business are not investing a dime in the rooms that badly need refreshing. The pillows are disgusting. Bring your own pillow. Not worth the price.
- Cheryl (7/5): Good -
- Tony (7/5): Good -
- Ken (7/5): Good -
- Jane (3/5): Poor -
- Christine (7/5): Good - There was a mouse in my room
- Marie (2/5): Very poor - Location was good. It was located right by the lake. The bed and pillows were extremely hard. The bathroom needed a good deep clean.
- Alex (7/5): Good -
- Tammy (8/5): Very good - The room was clean - bathroom was really clean, bedsheets smelled clean and fresh. The price was very affordable for a one night stay - we literally just needed a place to sleep for the night on our way through town. The mattress was hard (not a problem for a lot of people), the facilities are a bit dated (but clean) and because it was a chilly night , we were advised to use the electric fireplace for heat - it was very loud! We shut it off to fall asleep and were warm enough under the blankets.
- Bart (8/5): Very good -
- William (4/5): - Problem with tv. Bad stains in shower. I would not use it.
- Errol (10/5): Exceptional -
- Megan (10/5): - Loved staying here. It was the perfect area close to new liskeard, they allowed my friend and I to fish off the dock and it was so nice inside the room. Up to date decor and the staff was so friendly when we checked in and it was also an easy checkout. Perfect little place for our stay and we enjoyed it very much
- Dave (6/5): Got what I paid for - No breakfast, older small rooms, bed was comfy, was perfect as was in town for 12hrs to watch a hockey game
- Anson Carl (6/5): - The property was tired, no attempts at 'Pride of Ownership'. Was very low quality basic. But, the price was representatve of all I said. It was quiet, on the edge of a lake but no effort to enhance that benefit. Office staff was perfunctory, no effort to engage or discuss my stay experience.
- Al (4/5): you know what..wifi was ok, bed was comfortable enough, fridge was cold....1 star motel at best. - nothing open the door to my room
- Denise (1/5): As mentioned we couldn’t stay at this motel. - Nothing We didn’t stay at the property! We had to find another hotel to stay for the two nights.
It was a seedy motel, very poorly maintained and in need of renovation. Nothing was clean including the bathroom and kitchen facilities. The bedsheets and pillows were badly stained and need to be thrown out and replaced. The room had an odour which made it difficult to breathe after being in it for just a few minutes.
The photos and reviews are very misleading!
- No1uno (3/5): Poor -
- Dewesh (6/5): - Washroom not clean and water pressure was like dropping.
