- Mark (8/5): - Beautiful vintage hotel.
Stunning wooden interior.
Nice breakfast.
Central downtown location.
Excellent restaurant, el origen, next door.
- Mark (10/5): - Beautiful old hotel. This is our go to stay spot for flights in and out of Costa Rica. Excellent beds and nice large bedrooms. Fabulous wooden interior.
- Lisa (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay the night before an early flight out of SJO. The location is convenient to the airport and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Our room was very quiet and comfortable. The building itself is beautiful. We plan to stay here again on our next trip to Costa Rica!
- Mike (8/5): - Very friendly, helpful staff!
- Arnold (10/5): - We liked the friendly and competent staff. The excellent breakfast. The character of the old building particularly the common areas.
- Steven (8/5): - Friendly staff. Building is beautiful. Room 15 was noisy. Right by street Trucks and motorcycles wake me up in the morning. Bring ear plugs. You hear the door bell every times it rings. WIFI good in hall but not room for #15. Banks, shopping, restaurants and local bars. Nicer bars and beautiful mall are a short uber away.
- Bart (8/5): - Good hotel with very kind people
- Heather (10/5): - I would recommend the great 1915 Hotel for its close proximity to the airport, accommodating staff, great room and wonderful breakfast in a tropical setting. 😀
- Heather (10/5): - When we arrived lare at night we were greeted immediately ar the door and were given all the information required for our stay. The host is gracious and informative. Our breakfast this morning was in a charming and lush dining area. We would definitely come and stay here again!
- Beth (10/5): - The 1915 Hotel was a delightful place to stay before catching my flight at the San Jose airport. The interior public spaces are charming, the room was great, the traditional Costa Rican breakfast was excellent, and the staff was very helpful. I highly recommend!!
- Melva (10/5): - Bien ubicado y buena atención
- Kristhian (6/5): - Normal
- Patience (4/5): - We pulled up to hotel around 11:00 pm, no lights were on. We didn't even know if it was open and there was no place to park. The neighborhood did not seem safe. We left and found alternate accomadations.
- Daryl T (10/5): - Love the interior design of this one time private home. An amazing assortment of vintage furniture and fixtures to accompany it...
- Christine (10/5): - Beautiful authentic Co
- Josephine (6/5): - The building was very pretty, paintings and lobbies very historical. But the actual room, no soap, one trashcan in bathroom. When you book your room, make sure you ask for a/c because economy means no air.. Also, you have to be buzzed in and wait for somebody to come to the door. Room bathrooms just had one towel outlet did work and they do not clean your room every day as stated, you must ask for it. Also, there is no water provided for you. The staff was very nice and tried real hard to make you feel comfortable.
- Gregory (4/5): - Didn't get the room I reserved, was supposed to of had a queen bed and air conditioning
- Fran (10/5): - The hotel interior is beautiful, comfortable, and quiet.
- Grayson (10/5): - Quick overnight stay after a late flight into the country. The hotel is very cute, parking is a couple buildings down and secure but difficult to park in. There is a police station directly across the street and we felt plenty safe walking to restaurants.
- Sarika (10/5): - Beautiful historic home. Welcoming and hospitable staff. Convenient location to airport.
- Todd (10/5): - It is close to everything I was looking for. It is a beautiful property.
- Nelly Liliana (10/5): - Bien
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great quiet gem in the heart of the city - This place was a great little gem. Walking distance to everything and close to the airport. Surprisingly quiet. Staff were super friendly and helpful.
The entire place was clean and well maintained and very comfortable. Got my needs perfectly for the price point. I couldn't have been happier.
- Elisa (10/5): - Incrível
- Katrina (10/5): - They place has a charming appeal, typical of Costa Rica. The stay was quiet and relaxing . Staffvery helpful.
- David (10/5): - A beautiful hotel. What a great place. Hidden gem. From the outside did not look like much. Inside it has gorgeous architecture and so much charm. Staff was super helpful. Secure parking area. Will definitely stay here again. Only suggestion is to bring your own shampoo.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is a family owned property and the family does everything in their power to make your stay comfortable. The property is spotlessly clean and very comfortable.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - after arriving and arriving from the airport. There was no staff working to let us in the hotel. It was locked and we were stranded
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I booked through Expedia and I paid another $45 USD cash when I arrived. It was late, I was tired and did not want to argue. I’m very disappointed! I thought when you paid through Expedia, there were no further charges?
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The location next to the airport is the main advantage, but I definitely would not stay here more than one night. The noght time ambiance is seedy outside. The durnishings on the room were minimal. The hotel charged my credit card even though I had prepaid Expedia and I am pursuing this matter as I write. I hope and expect Expedia will do the right thing and arrange for a refund. On the plus side, the interior of the hotel is very attractive Spanish old colonial style. And the sole female staff who seemed to be running the place was very friendly.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice hotel! Nice location and vintage style. Staff members were very friendly, and free breakfast was great!
- Ashley (6/5): - The girl at the front desk tried to charge us more than the amount agreed upon in the reservation. I did not pay any extra. If there is some fee that is not included in their rate, they should make an update to their prices to avoid confusion as this is a common scam.
I also noticed that most of the rooms do not have windows, which felt very cramped.
Otherwise our stay was good, and the staff even made us a breakfast para llevar since our flight was so early.
- Theresa (10/5): - The hotel has a ton of charm. Note to new guests...Parking not clearly marked. You need to go to desk and they unlock gate for secure parking next to property. Not visible from road.
- Etienne (10/5): - Hotel 1915 is located into Alajuela, very close and easy access from San Jose Airport, which is convenient after a long haul flight from Europe. Their is a few nice restaurants around the corner. (e.g. Kurkuma Artisanal food, and local Sodas). They do have a parking garage if you do have a rent a car. I recommend this hotel when you arrive or depart from Costa Rica.
- Shannon (10/5): Tidy place close to the airport - The staff was very accommodating to help us park our car and get a ride to the airport in the morning. Walking distance to some restaurants and a $3 USD Uber ride to the airport.
- DXM (8/5): Functional and inexpensive one-night layover - It's a pretty simple hotel, don't expect any creature comforts. Room had fan only as I recall. Staff were eager to please but not always there. There is a strange gated entry whereby the staff always has to buzz you in (set this alongside the earlier sentence). Breakfast was good. Location is good - not far from airport, near good bars and restaurants, just a few blocks' walk to the centre of Alajuela.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very nice and cute Hotel - Very cute room comfy bed , breakfast was awesome and every ingredient was fresh and tasted excellent
- Rick (10/5): Surprising - A little gem on a busy street in a typical small scale urban Costa Rican town is how I'd explain this place. The ratings it garners is well deserved. The staff are the typical gentle, affable Costa Ricans. The front desk speaks English relatively well while the rest of the staff, including the waitresses, really don't speak English at all. The included breakfast was very good with choices of typical Costa Rican, American and European fare. As in most of Costa Rica, I'm not particularly fond of the coffee, especially if you are used to the finer coffee places in the states.
The front lobby is simple and relatively unattractive but the various other lobby spaces are quite beautiful with old Spanish style wood furniture. The spaces are a bit dark but quiet and rarely used, at least during my stay in the height of the dry season. The rooms, while small, are quite nice and attractive. Our room (#8) was first floor and just off one of the two sitting areas and was quiet despite its central location. It had AC which was nice. Not all do. It also had French interior windows that accessed a shaft like space that was exposed to an open area in the roof. It was an interesting and beautiful feature. While Allejuela is not a tourist spot by any means, and is just a weigh station to Poas Volcano, it does have a pleasant central park and beautiful church within a couple of blocks on the same street.
All in all, this hotel was a great value.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Overall a decent place. My room was on a main hallway, and sound traveled easily so I was woken up a few times during the night. Other than that, fine.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Disappointed with with our staff interactions. - Laundry on premises was promised not received. Staff attepmted to overcharge. Was unfriendly and unhelpful in interactions.
- Eric (8/5): Charming hotel in old city - Stayed one night with family of 4. Friendly staff and a beautiful interior decor. Decent breakfast. The window well in our room could have used a few plants. Secure parking was nice to have in this area.
- Gavin (8/5): Quiet, secure, old fashioned place to stay - Hotel 1915 was perfect for a couple of nights in Alajuela before we flew out of San Jose airport. Good breakfast included and rooms well away from street noise. Had a chance to observe Costa Rican city life.
- Victoria (10/5): Very clean and very friendly - Family owned very clean, safe and helpful. Breakfast was very good.
- Very impressed! (10/5): Beautiful historic affordable hotel! - The room was so nice and luxurious. Very impressed. We had a very large out door balcony overlooking downtown. Breakfast off the menu that was included in price was very good.
Wifi was very poor and had to go to the Lobby for good reception. The staff were very accommodating. The hotel is a lovely Spanish colonial style.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Best place to stay in Alajuela
- The staff is very attentive and the do a great job in making you feel welcomed.
