JOHN (9/5): Cosy and very atmospheric - Cooked breakfast a little disappointing. Bacon was tasteless over cooked and obviously pre cooked and left standing as it was dry and not edible . Less and better quality is the improvement I would recommend . The cooked breakfast .

Wendy Blann (4/5): Good location and nice decor - but ask for a room well away from the extractor fans - The rooms were nicely decorated and the bed was very comfortable There was loud noise from the kitchen extractor fan, which although it was turned off before we went to bed, came on again at 7.15am and woke us up and not able to get back to sleep.

Ann (10/5): A lovely relaxing break. - The staff were tremendous from the welcome to the goodbye. Staff offered to carry our cases to and from the rooms. There was a good varied menu for breakfast and it arrived hot by good attentive staff. The evening meals were good too and the staff very attentive .The rooms had been reburbished and were very pleasant with goodsized bathrooms. However the step to the bathroom in room 201 needed to have a strip on it or overhead light for the evening to avoid keeping the bathroom light on during the night to avoid accidents . It was a lovely old hotel with original floor tiles and wooden floors kept. We enjoyed our stay.
Laura (10/5): Beautifully designed hotel with good food - Beautiful spacious room with big bathroom, separate toilet and free standing bathtub as well as walk in shower. Beautifully designed, very comfortable bed and pillows, great water pressure, excellent amenities. Restaurant below had good food and staff was very kind. Pretty excellent experience overall. As they just recently renovated the whole hotel, it still smells strongly of paint both in the rooms and corridors but that’ll go with time. The lighting in the restaurant is quite terrible- it’s so nice otherwise, with some warm and dimmer lighting, the atmosphere would be a bit more comfy. Breakfast was decent, but the buffet could be improved by better pastry and fresh juice.

Location was also good. It’s a shame to say something negative about such a great stay! Although nicely decorated, the bedroom was really small. There was no storage space for clothing and nowhere to open suitcases. We had two suitcases for a three day stay and were continually moving them about to allow us access to move around the room.

A beautiful stand-alone bath, a four poster bed, a large shower, robes and a coffee machine as well as teas and water provided. Staff were fantastic, polite, friendly and very helpful. The breakfast menu was fantastic but gluten free options in the restaurant and at breakfast were minimal and the breakfast service was very slow. Our room overlooked the market and although we don't mind an early start, the early morning banter may not be ideal for some!!

We were party of 6 enjoying nice meal but they turned off all the lights around us so sitting in pool of light . Only 10.00pm , but is modern post Covid tendency . Fortunately the bar was still open
Kayleigh (9/5): Lovely hotel, fab food and great location for what we wanted - We had a family room which was perfect for the four of us, including the provision of a travel cot for our toddler. The room was very comfortable and the kids loved the rain shower in the attached bathroom. We dined at the restaurant for dinner which had a good range of menu choices for us as well as the children, and the breakfast the following morning was delicious, again with plenty of options. The location was perfect for what we wanted and we left wishing we’d booked two nights instead of one!

andrew (10/5): Superb in every way. - Breakfast was spectacular I only wish I was able to eat more. I has the full english and there simply wasn't any space left in my stomach to move on to the other tempting options laid out on the buffet table. I also really appreciated the genuine friendliness of the staff. They are laid back, happy and competent - such a refreshing change from the stiff formality of many hotels. The lovely teas, coffee and biscuits in the room were a real delight as well - what a great way to start the day!

Sarah (9/5): Lovely welcoming hotel and cosy at Christmas. Would definitely return - Really lovely hotel. Nice and clean. Loved my room overlooking the courtyard. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Location excellent and amenities on doorstep. Bed was uncomfortable and squeaky mattress. Service at breakfast was a little slow at times. We asked for more coffee and had to remind them. On checkout we were told we owed money for a drinks tab which wasn't ours. We didn't have to pay it though. Maybe not the fault of the hotel staff.

Kathryn (7/5): Did the job - one night fine - Location Period property full of character Clean Parking at back Not mad on quality of food ( meh coffee, ran out of spinach, forgot butter, coffee not great, French toast average etc ). and as breakfast was included made a difference to our stay but I suppose was reflected in price. Service was average
Clare (9/5): I’ll be back … - The things that matter to me and that were provided: water in glass bottles, organic toiletries and comfortable pillows. The staff were warm and welcoming and also respectful. Cosy atmosphere with open fires all added to the beautiful Christmas atmosphere. I would have liked information about church services eg times of mass to be on display among other local amenities.
Simon (8/5): We had a great time, and we’re looking forward to returning in the spring after the refurbishment. The staff are all lov - Excellent location!! Lovely old building… excellent outdoor space It is tired. But, it closes in a few days time for a refurb… So we will be returning after the refurbishment.
Barrett (9/5): A lovely place to stay in Bridport - The appearance of the hotel and the position in the town. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The inside of the hotel was looking a little tired especially paintwork and electrics. The bedroom had good facilities but not enough sockets for the TV etc and the bathroom floor was very squeaky. We know that the bedrooms are about to be refurbished.
