- Carlo (10/5): - We can’t wait to come back for an extended stay. A truly wonderful experience
- Morgan (10/5): - This place was perfect! Mike was accommodating and welcoming and full of information about where to swim and eat which were our priorities! The outdoor showers might have been our favorite part. They were gorgeous! What a location! Would definitely go back and wished we’d spent more time there!

- Erica (10/5): Cool Place - Great view, great staff and great experience
- Bethany Rose (10/5): - We loved everything about this property, the house, the staff! Hannah, the house manager, was like I would envision Mother Earth to be. So kind. So accommodating. The home was absolutely picturesque. The views! We had an ocean view room and it was marvelous. Eating breakfast on the veranda looking out on the ocean, breathtaking. They still social distance there but it really works in your favor because it doesn’t get crowded grabbing breakfast and you have your own space to just relax and enjoy everything they have to offer! The outdoor shower was, it was just amazing. I would’ve loved to take it home with me. The breakfasts’ every morning were hand cooked by Hannah and she even made some stuff her grandmother had passed down to her. Just the whole stay was excellent. Could not have picked a better place if we’d paid thousands of dollars a night.
- Mrunmayee Vijay (2/5): - The owner was very short tempered and non cooperative. If you interested and like living with old furniture
- Jennifer (10/5): - Beautiful and peaceful stay! The house was clean, well-equipped, and had stunning mountain and shoreline views. Breakfast was delicious every day, and the host was very friendly. Just a heads-up — finding the road to the hotel took a bit of time, but everything else was perfect!
- Ivan (10/5): - The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Breakfast was

- Lance (10/5): - This was the most beautiful place I’ve ever stayed. The cleanliness, the view, the Hot Tub, the showers, the beds. Everything was above and beyond anything I’ve experienced. Listen, this is the place to stay. Favorite place on the entire island.
- Bruce (10/5): - Out of the way location but great once you got there. Excellent staff, breakfasts were unusually well done

- Sara (10/5): - Lovely place with great view. Hope to visit again some time.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Stunning vistas - This place was a gem. We only booked for one night of our trip but I wish we'd stayed longer. The food was delicious and sitting out on the deck watching the sunset was relaxing after a full day of travel. I loved the outdoor showers, and the indoors were also beautifully maintained and cared for. On our next adventure out here, this is where we're staying.
- Tianliang (10/5): - good place. The scenery is beautiful.

- Verified traveler (10/5): Amazing weekend getaway stay - The stay was wonderful. The property is on a beautiful estate with gorgeous views of the ocean. The breakfast was delicious. All in all, it was a fabulous weekend getaway.
- Matthew (10/5): - It was peaceful and a much needed reprieve.
- riyaana (10/5): - Lovely bed and breakfast
- Sheila (10/5): - This place was amazingly beautiful! The swing in the backyard was super special. Lovely hosts, and Hannah the innkeeper was so sweet and kind. And, she was an amazing chef! You'll love breakfasts on the lanai!
- Linda (10/5): - Old style plantation house with a view, no TV, up a very steep hill. Afternoon snack time, lovely hostess, open lanai sitting area to hear the birds, large mango trees. Shared kitchen area and breakfast is included.
- Joy (10/5): - Absolutely wonderful! Highly recommended, for both the location and family owners 💗
- Inho (10/5): - Nice and clean room. Beautiful everything. Everything was goood including breakfast and hot tub.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - You might need to share bathroom with other people. This is not clearly presented in the booking process!
4x4 recommended given the steepness of the driveway.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Beautiful grounds and views, extremely clean, and warm reception from the hosts. Will be back!!!
- Pete (10/5): - The view was spectacular. The house was well taken care of. The rooms were nice. Plenty of seating spots inside & out. Host were awesome. Would definitely recommend to friends & family.

- Tanelah (2/5): - Did not stay due to shortened layover. Called several times after booking to cancel but no one answered. We then decided to rent a car and drive to the property. Once we arrived (within 1hr of booking) we were met by a man who identified himself as the property manager. Asked for early check-in (even though we’d only be there for a short time) & we told “I don’t know why you would book when the check-in time is 3pm”. I explained that I tried calling several times to cancel (with no answer) and that we had a shortened layover & were just looking for a place to freshen up. The gentleman was very aggressive. So much so that we decided to just leave & contact Expedia to see what our options would be. He was very upset by this & stated “I already have the money and I won’t be issuing a refund UNLESS I am able to re-book the room to someone else”. Expedia tried contacting the property but to no avail. Days later, I received a follow-up email from Expedia stating again, they were unable to reach the property for a refund. I’m not at all upset about the money lost for the stay. I should’ve done a better job of looking at the check-in time. What upsets me is how I was treated by the property manager. Being aggressive & saying this like “I already have the money..” is not good business practice. That alone is what will prevent me from staying or recommending this place in the future. It costs nothing at all to just be kind!
- Hongzi (10/5): - What a magical experience! The property is meticulously maintained with the most caring staffs and generous breakfast. The feeling of tranquility relaxing on the lani is a moment to remember for life!
Tips: High clearance cars and daytime arrival recommended as the road up is steep&bumpy and the entrance is easily missed at night.
Quiet hour after 9pm as the rooms are not very soundproofed.
The outdoor shower is amazing. Slight clogging problem in the upstairs common bathroom.
- Maryse (10/5): - Incroyable vue! Super tranquille, tout était parfait!
- Amanda (10/5): - This property is absolutely gorgeous. The team here is so friendly. We arrived early and we were welcomed in and offered to sit on the lanai and have some mango juice while we waited to be able to check in. From the view to the laid back vibe of this beautiful plantation everything is magical. The driveway is intimidating at first but after you do it once there is no problem. We booked this last minute due to needing to extend our trip an extra day and we wish we would have stayed here the entire time.
- Dawn (10/5): Ultimate Aloha experience - Hannah and the team at Ka’awaloa Plantation Bed and Breakfast have thought of everything for the comfort of their guests. We will most certainly be back to this gem.
- Earl (10/5): Paradise - Outstanding B&B.
Hanna was phenomenal.
Just book it!
Aloha!!!
- Charles (10/5): - Great view. Comfy bed. Good food
- Jocelyn (10/5): - We had an amazing time staying here. Host was very kind, room was clean and comfortable, and breakfast was delicious. We hope to come back again!
- Duane (10/5): - It was amazing! Just go 😃
- Edward (10/5): B&B - Comfortable stay
- cadie (10/5): - Exceeded my expectations. Absolutely phenomenal! Great attention to ALL details. Highly recommend this gem!
- David I (10/5): - It had a nice view of the ocean, making me feeling like i am in paradise. I loved the breakfast prepared by Hannah. It was delicious.
- Laura (10/5): - Michael and Greg and Gabby were all amazing and this is a beautiful property and we will for sure stay there again if we come back to the big island. Worth every penny! Stunning view, lots of places to relax and they are very accommodating. The room was clean and nice and the bathroom was also clean. The outdoor shower was great also!
- namrata (10/5): - Best location, wonderful hosts and delicious breakfast with the most amazing views. Wish we spent longer time.
- Shoshonig (10/5): An absolute gem - This is the most beautiful property. The outdoor lava rock shower and hot tub for sunrise are not to be missed. The hosts and innkeeper were so welcoming and we loved the Hawaiian inspired breakfasts and fresh fruit.
- MAIRE (10/5): - Fabulous property and fabulous owners, very caring. Discreet venue, peaceful energy, native birds and trees positive surrounding and a beautiful view over south of Hawaii. Had the best quiet and at easy sleep! Mahalo.
- Cindy (8/5): - Privacy at the cottage, yet access to the main house and it’s amenities
Friendly hosts and staff..
- Dianna (10/5): - Extremely well run. Very accommodating to guests. Tropical paradise!
- leslee (10/5): - This is my new favorite place to stay while on the island. Such lovely grounds, delicious food, and the hosts are so kind! I stayed in a beautiful cabin with spectacular views of the jungle!
- Erin (10/5): Wish we had more time - The hosts and atmosphere are amazing! We particularly loved the spa and outdoor shower. Being under the stars was such a treat. We came to see the lava flowing at the end of our honeymoon on Oahu. Unfortunately missed it by a day but so happy we got to see the big island and can’t wait to go back. Wish we had split our time between the big island and Waikiki. It was so peaceful and green. Snorkeling nearby was also incredible. Thanks to our hosts for the lovely stay.
Seriously only complaint was that the helper Liz made me feel really bad during breakfast. I was under the assumption that the breakfast buffet was self serve and helped myself as the kitchen was empty when I came downstairs. She made it very clear that I cut the line and wasn’t receptive to my apologies for misunderstanding. She’s not a regular employee though so I wouldn’t expect this to be a problem on your stay. The hosts were very very friendly and absolutely made us feel at home. I will say breakfast was delicious even with the salty attitude ;) we particularly enjoyed the avocado and mango picked fresh that morning on the property.
- Kristy (10/5): Book the Trip! The view is absolutely incredible!! - This property is absolutely incredible!
Michael and Greg are wonderful hosts. House is in pristine condition with the ultimate set up for an amazing couples getaway to the big Island.
We arrived early and they allowed us to borrow towels chairs and snorkel gear as well as gave us recommendations for what to do until check in.
Our room was clean, bed was cozy, and we didn’t hear any of the house guests other than the outdoor friends that we fully expected.
The kitchen set up with a walk out dining patio is wonderful. Teas, coffee, local fruits, and a fresh hot breakfast that you won’t get anywhere else with the view of the entire southwest side of the island.
The outdoor shower was such a cool experience as well. Michael gave us great advice on our next travel day until checkout and didn’t steer us wrong at all!
All in all this is a PERFECT place to get away to as a couple to embrace the big island. Only warning would be to be aware of how steep the incline is to get on the property. Michael guided us and it wasn’t as scary as we initially thought.
We will definitely come back if they don’t visit us on Oahu first :)
- Roger (10/5): Highly recommended!! - One of the nicest B&B we've stayed in!!
Absolutely beautiful accommodations and the best hosts. The breakfast was outstanding.
- daniel james (10/5): - Amazing trip and super easy and inexpensive!!!
- jason (10/5): - The property is amazing and the hospitality second to none. The property is set in beautiful gardens and has an amazing verandah to have breakfast or sit at night and listen to the frogs and geckos. The hosts are so friendly and so helpful with things to do and see and i promise breakfast will not disappoint. A real gem.
- Elena (10/5): - Such a special place to stay, beautiful scenery, vibes, and people to help you get away from it all :)
- Brice (10/5): Sure to return - This place is really special. Forget a resort on the beach. This view, the immersion in wild life, gorgeous accommodations, and very sweet owners, all make this place a 5 star B and B.
- Joshua (10/5): Beautiful and Peaceful - The plantation is so beautiful and peaceful. It is a nice escape for anyone coming from an urban area. Although you share a shower with other rooms, we didn’t have any trouble or have to wait. The breakfast is homemade and amazing with fresh fruit provided from the property itself. Even the coffee is from the plantation. They also have beach equipment to borrow ie: beach chairs and snorkeling equipment. It was really better than we expected.
- Samantha (10/5): - Beautiful location, cozy rooms, wonderful lanai, and I can’t say enough good things about the amazing breakfast. We will be back again.
- Justin (10/5): - Beautiful gem of a property staffed and run by some of the nicest people you will ever meet! We enjoyed every minute of our stay.
Also the breakfast they made for us was incredible. We will def be back… thank you Greg and Michael!
- Elena (10/5): - Just perfect and very friendly! And Michaels breakfast was the best we had so far in the states :-)
- Ashok (8/5): - We did not know that we had a shared bathroom. That was a surprise. The host is very friendly and gave us a nice vegan breakfast in the morning. The driveway is quite steep but the view from the property is beautiful.
- Lori (10/5): Enjoyed Stay - Stay was amazing and so was breakfast.
Michael was very informative about the snorkeling location. We borrowed fins and they worked great for us. Enjoyed the Farmers Market Michael also informed us about. We stayed in the cottage. Super clean and private. Thank you to Michael and Greg
- Angelique (10/5): - Even though my trip to the big island was unexpected because of a car accident involving my daughter, my stay at Ka'awaloa helped make a bad experience better. The staff were warm and welcoming, even preparing an ice bag for my daughter's injuries when she was released from the hospital. They also tried to help find lodging for the next night. I plan on revisiting on an actual vacation because of the positive experience.
- Lisa (10/5): - This property is gorgeous! Quaint house on the "hill" with amazing view. The outdoor shower is a must!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful location! Beautiful house! Very friendly owners and staff. Great breakfast
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Such a amazing place! Michael was so kind and made sure everyone had what they needed.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Truly a great place to get away from the world. I like the home cooking.
- Corey (10/5): Best bed and breakfast ever - Beautiful place to stay. By far my favorite stop during our vacation. Such amazing hospitality and the breakfast is amazing. Will have to come back to visit again
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Ka'awaloa Plantation is probably one of the most exceptional b and b's I have experienced! It is serene! I was there 2 nights. The people that own it and manage it are so kind and thoughtful. The space is incredibly aesthetic and every nook and cranny, inside and out, is beautiful. There is a zen kind of magic to the place. Highly recommend!
- Rick (10/5): - Wonderful, even only a day but we love the place. Thank you and mahalo.
Hope to visit you again
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This was a sweet bed and breakfast. Beautiful views.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I had the most delightful experience. This place is a little slice of paradise. The staff was attentive and accommodating, the food was delicious, made fresh every morning. I look forward to returning when I am back on the big island.
- George (10/5): Top Notch B&B on the Kona far from tourist traps - Great stay. Wish we had stayed here longer instead of heading North to another hotel. Beautiful property with incredible expansive ocean views. Staff and owners were super friendly and breakfast was home made and delicious. Especially liked eating all the fresh fruit and avos grown on site. Outdoor lava rock shower was also a hightlight. Very cool feature and perfect for an instagram post to make all your friends jealous.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fabulous. Soothing. Peaceful. Clean. Friendly staff and guests.
Enjoyed chatting with guests on the lanai with sweeping ocean views. Loved the private outdoor shower surrounded by lava rock walls filled with plants and frog sounds.
What I didn't like is that I had only one night there and I left too early to enjoy breakfast.
One guest I spoke with has stayed here ten times. Another guest was on his second visit. I can see why. I hope to stay here for several nights next time I get to visit the Big Island.
- Ian (10/5): Lovely plantation in a tranquil Kona location - Lovely stay just far enough away from Kailua in the coffee belt of Kona. Beautifully restored plantation house with fun amenities like the outdoor showers - and good cooking too! Upon booking, the room description said that our room would have a "private half-bath" with a shared shower, but that wasn't accurate - the toilet was across the hallway and we had to go through the shared bathroom to get to it, which could be trouble if someone was showering when you needed the toilet! Other than that it was a lovely stay.
- Wendy (10/5): - Stellar hospitality; gracious staff/owners. Gorgeous and convenient location. I can’t wait to come back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Exquisite taste. Stunning location. Gracious staff.
- Michael (10/5): - The property was in immaculate condition and the rooms very comfortable. The hosts were a pleasure and prepared a wonderful breakfast on the veranda overlooking the spectacular Kona coastline
- Nicolas (10/5): - Beautiful house and ever gracious hosts. Amazing breakfast. Perfect location. Probably one of the best B&B we ever stayed at. Highly recommended.
- Jessica (10/5): - So very nice!
- Austin (10/5): Stay Here - My wife and I arrived late at night after a 5-hour flight from SFO. There was a sweet, thoughtful welcome note taped to the door for us. Even at night, the beauty of the property and grounds was evident. We found our room easily and were immediately struck by its beauty and comfort. We had a great night’s sleep and set an alarm to make sure not to miss breakfast.
Breakfast was incredible Hannah m, the innkeeper, laid out a spread that included fresh fruit from the property, fresh eggs from their chickens, fresh made guava juice and a smoothie from the fruit they grow on-site, banana french toast with coconut syrup and macadamia nuts.
In addition, she’s incredibly sweet.
5+ stars!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Jungle Heaven! - A perfect place to call home when exploring the east side of the big island! A lush, well-kept small farm with super-friendly staff. Breakfast is top shelf, and the view from the lanai is better than anywhere on a tourist list!
- Lisa (10/5): - I liked everything about the place and people. I have not one negative thing to say about anything.
- nicole (10/5): wonderful - What a homey and adorable (and very clean) place. Hanna (who innkeeps) is a delight to talk to and everyone went out of their way to make my stay wonderful. The outdoor showers are gorgeous. The breakfast outstanding. A great value!

- Kapua (10/5): - Amazing place, hosts were very hospitable and friendly! The views and property are amazing!!!
- Amy (10/5): - Lovely B&B with amazing ocean view, service, and atmosphere! I will definitely stay here again during my next visit.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fantastic place to stay. Panoramic view of the ocean. Well maintained plantation. Breakfast with ingredients grown right on the property. Exceeded my expectations!
- John (10/5): Best of the Best - Wonderful stay. Michael, Greg and Hannah made me feel like I was part of the family. Hannah was in charge of breakfast, always delicious, generous and creative. Michael and Greg were unobtrusive but always available to offer a tip, insight or a good joke. I will return.

- James (10/5): great place to stay - everyone was very accomodating. great breakfast.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - No words could describe how beautiful and out-of-the-world this property is. Not to mention how thoughtful and sweet our hosts were. The view, the food and the amazing feeling of falling asleep to rain falling and waking up to hundreds of birds chirping... I could give 7 stars if I could. Such a hidden gem! Would def come back again if I’m in Big Island again! Thank you Michael, Greg and Hannah!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This was the most amazing place! The Place left me speechless and breathless. It was beautiful, charming and very comfortable.
