Guest Reviews
- Jasmine (4/5): - The room wasn’t cleaned throughly during the time we were there the amenities aren’t that convenient because they have inconsistent hours. The staff was nice but they were hard to reach on more than one occasion. Not exactly family friendly in my opinion or experience feels like the bathroom sink being on the outside of the bathroom it self is a bit unsanitary and sink was not properly cleaned. Door should have a proper lock it didn’t lock so feels unsafe.
- Meredith (10/5): Amazing staff - We were only there for about 10 hours bc we were late getting in. My 6 yo was asleep, and they were incredibly kind helping get us parked and our things carried to our room so I didn’t have to wake her. The bed was very comfy too and the room was super dark, which made for a great night sleep. When it was raining the next AM, they pulled the car around for us too so we didn’t have to walk through the rain with our things to get it.
- Arturo A (10/5): - Very cute property 1/2 block from reforma, very very walkable. The restaurant/bar staff is super nice and friendly (Gabrien and Jazmin in particular) Very clean rooms and areas in general.
- Leonardo (10/5): - Overall, great stay. Had an issue with my key card and the staff were very helpful in getting the issue fixed for me. Wish the bathroom was a little cleaner but it wasn’t too bad. Area is very walkable with lots of restaurants and convenience stores nearby. Again the staff were so kind and helpful my entire stay.
- Chris (8/5): - So far so great! Property is industrial chic. The pool is strange - it’s in the courtyard in front of the restaurant patio which isn’t appealing and probably why nobody was in it during my stay. Other than that the staff was INCREDIBLE and so kind and accommodating. Shipping is super close across Paseo Reforma. Overall, extremely happy!
- Victor (10/5): - Overall this was such a great stay, i will be coming back!
- Teu (8/5): - Nice hotel but every time I stay there’s something wrong with my room, whether the showers broken or this last time our aircon was so loud I could barely sleep! I wasn’t able to turn it off. The pool area is great!
- Rudy (10/5): - Loved it!!
- Edgar Gaston (10/5): - Es un hotel excelente, el staff fue muy amigable y servicial, tenia las amenidades necesarias pero el baño no estaba muy limpio que digamos, pero todo lo demas perfecto
- Michael (4/5): Decent hotel. Room bate and switch. - I recently booked a 4 night stay at Hotel Carlota while traveling with a group of friends. Upon arrival I was informed that the "suite" that I had booked was not the room that I would be getting because the ticket that the hotel had received was for a standard room. We were shown the standard room and it was tiny. I returned to the desk with my hotel.com confirmation which clearly stated "suite" on my confirmation (I believe I initially paid $60 or so per night more for the upgraded room) but was told again that they have me in a standard room. They were happy to "upgrade" me to a suite for an additional amount (around $255 USD for my stay) which I finally gave in on because we had been traveling all day and had dinner plans. No customer service options with hotel.com and no help from the hotel. First time that this has ever happened using hotels.com but it was very obnoxious.
- Travis (10/5): - Great little hotel
- Alfonso (8/5): - The location is convenient the rooms are decent, amenities are excellent. The pool gives the impression of being dirty, so you don’t really feel like going in.
The staff is mostly excellent, very kind and helpful.
The only strange thing was that they use the common areas to eat, and chat. When I arrived the staff was having lunch at the bar, and then i went up to a lounge area and other staff was having their lunch there, I think its uncofortable for both clients and staff.
- ALEX (8/5): - 2nd time in the city and really liked this property more than my last(nh hotel). Staff are great. Close to everything from nightslife to parks, food etc. Only thing I didnt like is they seem to turn off or up the ac at night.I like to sleep in the cold. Other than that id recommend staying here.
- John (6/5): - The staff was friendly, and the room was very fine. However, I woke up to a roach in my room one morning that I made to kill. They staff came to clean my room and left the dead roach by the door. Besides that everything was fine.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Would stay again - I recently stayed at Hotel Carlota for a weekend trip. The hotel itself is very clean, modern, and rooms are spacious. All the staff members were friendly and helpful!! A plus is hotel parking is free. My only complaint is I got a room facing the street which was very noisy. You could hear neighbors and cars the entire night. However I believe moving rooms could help with this. Overall I would stay again!
- JORGE (10/5): - A/C unit not working properly, and the room was hot all night.
- Arturo (6/5): - I like the ubication, walkable area and security. I dislike the room installations, the AC is really noisy and the bathroom plumbing is in bad conditions.
- Gustavo (10/5): - Really good hotel to stay. But need to work with the WiFi on the rooms.
- Manuel (10/5): - Small but perfect to stay
- Nelson (10/5): Great hotel and super chic - Great hotel, clean, super chic
- Efrain (10/5): - Great staff and great location
- Erik (2/5): Terrible hotel - Terrible experience got charged for soemthing at the mini bar that I didnt get , couldnt get it sorted out with front desk and they were completely useless , ended just paying for it instead of wasting time
- adel (4/5): - The staff is very helpful and nice. The hotel needs a lot of work; rusty pipes, bad quality towels, and very bad internet. I see the hotel responded to previous complaints about internet that it was addressed, the WiFi is still pretty bad.
The hotel is also very noisy, they have music until late on the weekends
- Scott (8/5): - Great location, very comfortable beds and tasty, popular local cafe. Rooms have small windows onto courtyard and no view.
- Antonio (10/5): - Thank you for the early check in and the late check out!!!
- Antonio (6/5): - Wifi Sucks !!!
- Thomas (8/5): - I would rate it a 4.5. Not soundproof due to occasional courtyard noise and stairwell vibration noise. Front desk and security were very nice. Security especially friendly. Very cute, trendy boutique hotel with a small pool, bar and restaurant in an excellent convenient location on a nice street.
Housekeeper barged in twice in a row without knocking to leave a welcome note, but quickly shut the door and apologized. I had the Do Not Disturb sign up.
- EVA (10/5): - Muy amables todos
- leslie (4/5): - WiFi didn’t work in the room and it was very noisy.
- Enrique (10/5): - Great
- Richard (10/5): - The hotel was great and centralaly located. The staff was very accommodating and helped us check in after an overnight flight. I would definitely stay here again.
- andres (10/5): - it was great!
- Yashitha (8/5): - The property was in a great location with friendly staff. There is a nice pool and restaurant in the property. The facilities however were a little dated, especially the shower heads. Otherwise, it was a pleasant stay.
- Raquel (8/5): - The only thing that I didn’t like is the old carpet in the bedroom. It’s dusty and it aggravated my allergies.
- Nicole (6/5): - We had a good time in this hotel, here are some pros and cons:
Pros:
- The location is excellent, super convenient for all the areas of interest
- Rooms are big, spacious and it is well equipped
- The pool are is ok to relax for a bit and take the sun
- There is always someone from staff available to attend to your needs.
Cons:
- The hotel has a strong industrial feeling that I didn't like. The rooms don't feel cozy and some details like rugs, pillow cases and curtains feel old.
- Room service is not great, they knocked on our door one day at 5pm to try to clean up.
- The doors don't have a double lock option from the inside, which I didn't love.
Overall it was an ok experience.
I will probably look for a different place next time in Mexico City, but good enough for the price we paid.
- Julio (8/5): - Mejor limpieza
- Ana Edith (10/5): - Everything
- ROBERT (4/5): - The service at the pool and restaurant were fine. House keeping did not show until 4 when I napped. And when they did, they never emptied either garbage can. There 4 days. They were never emptied. The place was unnecessarily noisy at 3Am when something happened every night that caused very loud noises.
- Joshua (6/5): - I liked the location and design. Bathrooms need to be cleaner and better towels.
- Rian (10/5): Very nice - Great location and very nice room. The restaurant was very nice and service was awesome!
- Fernando (10/5): - Lovely place to stay! The design is just ver very interesting and the beds were comfortable, the staff helpful and plenty of areas to chill and work! The only thing is that the walls are kinda thin and is easy to hear others! Also there are so many amazing places to eat around the corner, this is definitely one of my favs hotels in Mexico City!
- Vivien (10/5): - Friendly staff. Well located. I heated the restaurant is amazing but I didn’t get the chance to try it.
- Jeremy (8/5): - Nice hotel. Rooms are modern, especially compared to other Mexico city hotels. unfortunately, the property can be very loud at times. Most of the rooms surround the pool-restaurant-bar so it can be loud at times.
- Pablo (4/5): - not a good place
- Alyssa (8/5): - Great location, friendly staff
- Adriana (6/5): - the design is very cool.
the hotel is very noisy, especially early in the morning. the restaurant starts on their morning routine and you can hear everything
- Samantha (10/5): - Wonderful hotel with very helpful staff. The room was very large and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again!
- Claude (10/5): - Clean, helpful employees, great location, amazing interior
- Aaron (10/5): - Very nice place and walking distance to a lot of restaurants and must-see places
- Nicolas (6/5): - We got placed in a room on the second floor, there were no true windows and therefore no true noise cancellation from the outside. Woke up at 3AM to someone casually coughing in the lobby, I shouldn't be able to hear that and they should be able to cough without waking anyone up. We could also crisply hear people going up and down the stairs and using the elevator. They provide earplugs but that shouldn't be required for a reasonable place to sleep. It truly felt like we were sleeping in the lobby.
The standard rooms were also quite small and the bathroom had no sink. Most of the shelf space was taken up by paid snacks and drinks which was off-putting.
The noise level may be different in other rooms but it was truly a deal breaker for us. The staff however was accommodating and made it easy for us to cancel the rest of our stay, albeit with one night as a penalty.
Good central location and accommodating staff, but the noise issues were worse that we could have expected.
- Luis (10/5): I'll be back! - The hotel is a beautiful boutique hotel in an amazing location. The restaurant located in the hotel is fantastic. However, the best part of my stay was how attentive the member of staff were.
- Juan (2/5): - everything was fine, I went to the restaurant for breakfast and left my bose earbuds at the table, they cost 300 dlls, I got back 5 minutes later, and they said that they don't see them. The manager was suppose to contact me, and I never heard from him.
- Mary (10/5): - Lovely stay as usual!
- Meghan (4/5): - **female travelers** there is so security at all. the rooms do not have a lock from the inside. i felt unsafe. this hotel is compared to casa decu- casa decu is similar and safe. i hade two men try to enter my room while i was at hotel charlota,
- Natalie (6/5): - pool
- Ma Eugenia (10/5): Hotel Carlota - Excelente opción en la colonia Cuauhtémoc. Muy juvenil.
- Nantas (10/5): Incredible location - This hotel is in a wonderful location, the hotel is modern and quaint. Super friendly staff and management, we will be returning on our next trip to MXC. They are pet friendly, the restaurant in the hotel is excellent! Highly recommend it. Thank you Eduardo and staff for your amazing hospitality!
- Maricarmen (8/5): - The floor and walls are bare concrete so the room was cold, I would suggest adding some warmth and cosyness.
- Michael (10/5): - Really high value. Room was cool and clean, stayed in the one with the bit of extra space for a living room and TV, well worth it. Nice bed, good vibe. Restaurant downstairs has good food as well. Free bike rental! Would definitely recommend. English and spanish speaking staff. Awesome location right on popular zona Roma district.
- Roberto (10/5): - Carlota is an amazing hotel, great location .. great staff,
- Octavio (10/5): - Excellent design very nice bed and the ambience is fantastic
- Gabriela (8/5): Bien! - Buenas habitaciones. El único problema es el ruido que se mete a la habitación pero no fue demasiado molesto. Muy buena ubicación.
- Jesse (8/5): - Great experience overall. Staff was helpful and friendly. Facilities were in good shape and the location is great.
- Jared (10/5): - The hotel staff, especially the front desk staff, were very helpful in helping us to map out our stay and figure out some activities to do during our time in Mexico City. The COVID testing on-site was very helpful for travel back to the USA!
- Pier (4/5): Imposible to sleep - Very disappointed with the noise in the rooms. There is no kind of noise reduction measures to avoid every little sound getting into the room.
- Carlos (2/5): Worst stay ever - When we arrived at the room, there was a greeting card there for a different guest. The door jammed and someone had to come fix it. Then there was no hot water for us to take a shower before dinner, and after dinner, there was just no water at all. We had to move to a different hotel and ask for a refund. Worst stay at a hotel ever.
- oscar e (10/5): Buena experiencia.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The managment are not friendly
- Sean (10/5): One night in Mex - Always a good time. Highly recommended.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - fine place to crash good food nice location
- Verified traveler (6/5): - This property was just mehhh for me. I do think the pool area is beautiful but it is tiny and does look a lot better in photos of course. In other reviews, noise was mentioned a lot which I was nervous about. We didn't experience music noise from the pool area but the walls are paper thin and I could hear the exact movie the room next to us was watching and every single cough or sneeze someone did. We were meant to stay 2 nights but ended up staying for one. Also, really did not like the bathrooms. This place was cute but would not stay again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - cool establishment, but some of the staff were not very helpful, ok service, could have been better
- Rodrigo (8/5): Cozy, friendly place to spend a day or two - Nice place to spend a day with your friends, for some people may seem a little bit loud at night, but in general it’s a nice hotel.
- Leslie (6/5): Lovely architecture, noisy AF - Even though the hotel seemed to be empty, the room we got was SO noisy, next to the elevator cage and we could hear guests coming up and down the stairs most of the time. There was no window to ventilate the room enough (except one with vents but had a glass that would not let the air flow, and also meant no natural light). We had to turn on the air conditioning system which happened to also be very, very noisy at night.
There never seemed to be anyone available at the front desk whenever we needed something.
It took them ages to charge us for our extras during our check-out causing us to almost be late to catch our flight.
As for the architecture, the place is lovely, very nice interior design, the bed was extremely comfortable.
- Richard (10/5): Great hotel! - Located just north of the Avenida Paseo de la Reforma, about a ten-minute walk from the Insurgentes Metro station, which gives quick access to the Zocalo area to the east and Chapultapec Park to the west. Very mod and comfortable; the inner courtyard houses a bar and a pool, which is a great place to relax at the end of the day. Terrific staff too!
- John (10/5): - The staff is so nice and helpful. Everyone there is great :)
- Michael (10/5): Fantastic - Really a beautiful hotel and friendly staff! The food is delicious and the location is really central... during the week the street food right out the front door is delicious (And cheap)!
Only negative is that it is quite loud in the rooms during the day.... so if you are looking for a daytime nap, it can be tough. BUT, they do have free earplugs.
- Abelardo (8/5): Nice Boutique Hotel In Reforma Area - The hotel is very nice and trendy since it's a boutique hotel, however, there are some details in the rooms that need for update and maintenance
- Pedro (6/5): Good and bad - depends on what you are looking for - I guess this a boutique hotel. As usual, the service was great, but the same can be said about anything in Mexico City. Service is always top-notch.
The bad:
Walls are very thin, the bed is way too low, there is no functional elevator, people smoke in the hallways, no integration between the restaurant and front desk and no gym.
The good:
If you are a hipster looking for such type of experience, this is a great place to stay. By looking around my fellow guests, this really seems to be clientele. If you are a cranky old person like me and all you want is peace and quiet after a day of bouncing around the gorgeous but chaotic Mexico City, this isn't a great fit.
Don't get me wrong, it is far from a flea-infested place with rude people that I have stayed over my 30 years of being a roadwarrior. The front desk was always very kind and cordial, the bell boy was excellent, the food is terrific. But the facilities aren't what a business person needs.
There is a really "cool" open area with an infinity pool and bar area with seating room for a few people overlooking the pool. There are also some other well-appointed rooms opposite the pool where.
By the way, one side of the pool is acrylic. I guess you can judge for yourself if this is good or not :) I personally don't do public pools. so for me it is of little use.
Unlike other cheaper hotels ($120 a night in Mexico City isn't cheap, but it is for gringo standards), rooms have heating and A/C.
- s1ill (4/5): - The big problem with this hotel is the noise the music comes on a 9am every day and plays all day to midnight. The walls are thought and you can hear everything they start setting up for breakfast at 5:50am every day. If you don't plan on sleeping much then this is the place for you. They put to much emphasis on the bar ambiance and for to little on the purpous of a hotel that is a place to sleep.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I like the hotel and the location for the price. I feel that service could be a little more professional. I was stopped multiple times coming into the hotel eventhough I'd been staying there for several days.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The hotel is clean and very well located, but the music/client noise in the restaurant kept me up at night and the food from the restaurant was not great. Also, the wifi in the room was basically unusable because the signal was so weak. I will not stay here again.
- Dulcine (10/5): - Loved this hotel! The overall vibe was great: stylish and comfortable. The inner treed courtyard by the pool was lovely to hang out in. We'd eat breakfast there and have drinks late at night. The room was well equipped, comfortable, and looked hip. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Location was central and safe, and right next to a mall which was convenient. I would certainly recommend this hotel.
- Richard (8/5): A beautiful hotel in a top spot - We had an amazing stay at Hotel Carlota. It's a beautiful hotel, in a great safe location. The staff are wonderful and the restaurant is fantastic.
The most comfortable beds! Amazing amenities and mini-bar, and some great food within walking distance as well. (would recommend Koku sushi & balboa italian)
The only issue we had on our last night, was a function at the pool/bar, with music going late into the evening. The room wasn't very sound-proof from the event, which made the nights sleep not so great. The music was turned down by 11pm, we had an early start the next day.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The style of the hotel is interesting. That's what i was drawn to when I was booking it along with the location. After a few hiccups at the beginning - being given a terrible room by the stairs on the first floor that would only be suitable for one night for a person on business (not a couple booked for 4 nights) The manager was very helpful and moved us to a more suitable room. In terms of service it could have been better. The design of the hotel - rooms around an open atrium and overlooking the restaurant and bar means that there is always some noise that makes it hard to sleep. If there happens to be a private party - like there was when my husband and I were there then there is absolutely no chance of sleep! A good hotel for a couple of night max.
- Valentina (8/5): - All good but bad noise isolation
- Cesar (4/5): - when we first arrived we found no hot water in the shower, we mentioned this to the front desk and their statement was "Oh we forgot to tell you how to use the hot water" we then tried to do as instructed to and found that we still had no hot water. That evening we observed that there was work being done on the "water system" The next morning we tried to use the water and still no hot water in the shower. We opened the hot water in the sink full blast and got dirt and rust and then we started to get hot water it took a while for the water to start coming out clean. We then tried the shower and got the same thing rust and dirt and after a while the water was clear and hot.
- Fernando (10/5): Best hotel to rest, drink and then party downtown - Amaziiiing!!!!!! Live their bar
- Architect (8/5): - Staff at front desk was friendly. Restaurant staff friendly but a little slow maybe due to difficult communication from lower to upper levels. There seemed to be a disconnect and inefficiency with that aspect. The bar staff friendly enough, but I have never had a glass of wine poured so small and the price. The hotel was cold but that was due to the weather and rain. No way to get out of the damp outdoors because all of the common areas are outside. I'd come here in the summer!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Almost a great stay. Menu and service need some improvements but otherwise a great stay.
- Jose (10/5): - We loved it! Very chic, great service, great restaurant, great location. 10/10.
- MIGUEL (10/5): - Very well located. Half a block from paseo de la reforma.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It was very loud and we were in a room right next to the stairs. I could hear every step anyone took.
- Zorro (6/5): - The pool and deck (both small) are inaccessible to hotel clients as taken over all day long (and evening) by day-passers (passes issued b y the hotel) who are not hotel clients who come w/ books, note pads, dogs and bag packs, and monopolize the two lounge chairs and few good arm chairs.
You, as client hotels, when coming back from a museum or some other visits by mid afternoon will end, if lucky, sitting in a chair in the shade.
The front office staff does not seem to realize that hotel clients may wish to enjoy the pool and deck, too.... very strange.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Potential to be better - The food was great but inconsistent
- Erin (10/5): - It was such a great little oasis in the middle of the city. A greeting base camp to explore from. The pool was so nice to come back to at the end of each day. The food and cocktails were fantastic.
Wifi is a bit patchy especially in the room and if you go to bed early or want to sleep in it’s very loud. I think the concrete isn’t the best sound barrier. But that being said it wouldn’t deter us from staying there again!!!
- J&E (6/5): - This hotel may look cool and hip in the photos, but was not very comfortable to stay in at all. The room we got was very stuffy, and smelled bad -- like the bathroom wasn't properly aired out. The AC also didn't work well, and was extremely loud. The bathroom is tiny, and doesn't have a hard door. Given the price, I'd rather pay a bit more and stay at other hotels. Food at the restaurant was a bit pricey, but delicious. Staff was nice and polite.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great service. Super cool ambience. The only thing that I truly did not lile are the towels
