Guest Reviews
- George (10/5): - Amazing sights and excellent service!
- Chiu Yen (10/5): -
- Antoine (10/5): Amazing place to stay at Nikko - The guest house was an amazing place to stay at Nikko. Everything can be done by walking. The owner was really enthousiastic and has given valuable map and information about the area. The house was really clean and we enjoyed staying there for 2 days
- Katharina (10/5): - Extraordinarily nice hosts, who showed me a lot what I could do in Nikko and gave me lots of useful recommendations and explanations, also maps and bus schedules are available in the house.
The house was absolutly clean and had many beuatiful touches. I felt really welcome and enjoyed staying there.
- Doris (10/5): - Exceptional customer service, he was always available for the many questions we had about the area, busses and train schedules/ticket options. When leaving, he not only drove us to the station, but helped us secure the correct tickeys/routes. Kenji is an exceptionally kind and attentive individual!
- Lim (10/5): - Really enjoyed my cosy 2 night stay here inside the 2 floor economy villa. Clean and Functional with everything you need! Thank you Ken for hosting, and thanks for both keeping our luggages on our last day and then offering to send us to the tobu-Nikko station in order to catch our train! Will definitely consider here again the next time I'm back in Nikko!
- Philipp (10/5): - Awesome host, so lovely. Can recomend it to all of you. Fantastic
- Marianne (10/5): - Super nice and useful hosts! Great location, everything is accessible by bus. Highly recommended
- Patrick (10/5): - Great place - room had a great view! There is so
E construction ext door but it wasn’t bad at all.
- Bronwyn (10/5): - This was a lovely, spacious space for a family to stay in. The location was perfect, walkable to the train station, buses, and world heritage temples. There was a beautiful view to wake up to as well. And our host, Kenji, was so friendly and helpful, giving us advice and enthusiastic recommendations. I couldn't recommend Stay Nikko more, we loved it.
Cartina e confortevole, host gentilissimo e parla inglese molto bene!
- Paula (10/5): - Fabulous host
- Ciro (10/5): - Do yourself a favor. Forget all the fancy hotels and whatnot. Book this one. You get a little cute home by yourslef. Super clean and quaint. The owner is such an amazing host. This is one of the best stays we ever had.
- Chi Yeung (10/5): A clean and friendly Guesthouse - The host is incredibly friendly and provides detailed explanations about Nikko. The place is exceptionally clean and tidy, including the floor under the sofa. The room is more spacious than expected, and the movable table allows us to easily open our large luggage in the room without any issues.
- wei (10/5): - Very nice service 😊
- Christopher (10/5): - Owners were friendly and have an good understanding of travelers’ needs. Very good language capabilities and communication skills.
- Shiau Fang (10/5): -
- Claire (10/5): - We loved Stay Nikko Guesthouse. It has everything you need and is very spacious. Ken was so enthusiastic and happy to provide advice and recommendations that were really helpful. He even drove us to the station in the morning. What a lovely guy!
- Apriani (10/5): - Very thoughtful and helpful host. Very comfortable and beautiful Japanese home. Gave us a lift to the train station which was really unexpected.
- Andrew (10/5): - Stay Nikko Guest House is a wonderful accommodation option. The property is ideally located, close to all that Nikko has to offer. The property was quiet, clean, comfortable and well equipped. Kenji is a wonderful host, very welcoming and keen to share helpful information. Highly recommended.
- Carole (10/5): A Winter Wonderland Christmas - This was a perfect stay for our family of 5 over three nights. We were in town for a hockey tournament. There were enough beds for all of us to sleep comfortably. Each of our kids had thier own bed and my husband and I shared the full/queen. Seriously, this might be the most comfortable place we have stayed in Japan over the last two years. My younger two really enjoyed the bunk bed set up. We woke up to a winter wonderland and the view from our room was breathtaking. I'm from southern California and so are my kids, so the snow was enchanting. It was a wonderful location to celebrate Christmas with the family in between games. Our villa had a microwave, toaster oven, and fridge with freezer, dishes, utensils, a kettle, more than enough towels and toiletries. The host is incredibly welcoming, kind, and informative. He had a map layed out and labeled for us in English of great places to eat and visit that were within walking distance. He took the time to explain it all to us. I enjoyed reading all the notes previous vistors have left in the guest books. Nikko is incredibly beautiful and this modern space fits in nicely, a few streets back from the main road.
- Dorothy (10/5): Comfy, convenient, friendly, helpful... Marvelous - A marvelous stay in a spacious and well equipped apartment. Not just a room, it included a kitchenette and lovely views, and a certain personalized charm. Way more than one would expect for the price, especially suitable for a family. The hosts were super friendly and helpful. They had lots of good advice and were willing to find out more if need be. They spoke good English and pointed us to our best meal in Japan. I'd certainly stay here again and again.
- Christopher (10/5): Thanks for a great weekend getaway - Cute, comfortable place on the river. Short walk (~3 blocks) from downtown Central Nikko. Lots of food options nearby, and reasonable walking distance to Nikko Shrines. Owner was extremely helpful and provided lots of recommendations for restaurants, hiking, and sightseeing. Would gladly stay here again when I visit Nikko
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Very friendly welcome by the staff, they couldn't do enough. A lot of cameras in weird places which felt uncomfortable. Shared facilities could do with updating, especially living area and bathrooms.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Stay Nikko Guesthouse was extremely welcoming and cozy. We loved our little 2-level house with the roomy bunks. It was full of charm and had modern amenities. We were allowed to leave our bags early before check-in and also late after check-out so we were able to make the most of our stay. Definitely get the Japanese breakfast it was delicious! We highly recommend!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I was surprised to get a small house for ourselves! The property is so cute and clean. The host was very helpful and even recommend how to travel in Nikko in details. The bed was so comfy, we all had a pleasant stay here. Thank You!!
- Lim (10/5): - A wonderful guesthouse managed by an equally lovely couple, Ken and P. Good and quiet location, clean and comfortable facilities with delicious Japanese breakfast served overlooking their garden.
- Verified traveler (10/5): A home away from home in Nikko - We stayed for three nights while we explored Nikko and its magnificent surroundings. The owners were extremely friendly and made us feel at home from the very first minute we set foot inside. They went above and beyond to help us out with local information and a few small requests (earlier breakfast because of a morning train we needed to take).
The room was clean and the bed perfect for a good night's sleep. The breakfast, in true Japanese style, was of amazing quality. Last but not least the availability of a Japanese shower with a hot bath topped things of nicely.
We can't recommend Stay Nikko enough if you are looking for a place to stay in the area.
- Isaac (10/5): - Awesome traditional Japanese house! Owners are very warmly and friendly, they are very good chef as well! Really enjoyed our stay there!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved it all - owners were so friendly and helpful with maps and details on the area. Even insisted in dropping us back at the train station when we departed. I loved the rooms, decor etc, my partner wasn't very good at sleeping on futon / sitting on cushions on floor but I was fine and found everything very comfortable. A great experience.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very happy with our stay at the hotel. The hosts were very kind & considerate. They made sure our needs were met, provided us detailed map & information. The breakfast was awesome,
- Jon (10/5): Feels like home - We stayed In the newly build guesthouse, fully furnished with the newest IKEA and muji gear. It was very comfortable and had a feeling like home. If you have the time book it for 4nights and enjoy Nikko and all the nice walks in the area.
- Barbara (10/5): Nikko - Excellent in every way
- Verified traveler (10/5): - amazing place, clean rooms, dedicated owners - who picked us up at the station at 23 o'clock even though it's a 20min walk. The cuteness factor is through the roof with all the little cat imagery. Excellent Japanese style breakfast.
good location for exploring Nikko.
Strongly recommended and if I ever come to Nikko again, this is the place.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Amazing stay in Nikko - We had an amazing stay at Stay Nikko Guesthouse. The house was perfectly situated halfway between the train station and the major attractions making it an ideal location. Our room was a comfortable traditional Japanese room with plenty of space for 3 people. The host was incredible - he was very kind and even drove us to the train station when we were leaving. He made sure we had everything we needed the whole time and really went above and beyond.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very comfortable bedding, very accommodating staff
- Verified traveler (10/5): friendly staff , spacious room - close to train station, friendly helpful staff. large comfortable room
- Melanie (10/5): Very hospitable hosts is lovely small guesthouse - This guesthouse is the sort of place you arrive and immediately wish you were staying longer at! Traditional Japanese house with tatami mat rooms, futons, etc. The owners are lovely, speak great English and advised on getting around, best places to eat, etc. Highly recommended.
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The owners were so friendly great with communication and easy to find in Nikko. They were very helpful with showing us places to visit in Nikko and also great places to eat.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Average - Minimum comfort, we had a cold night : the air conditioning was drying up the air, but was not strong enough to warm up the room with the loft.
You also need to prepare your own breakfast, so overall not so convenient.
The hosts are targeting a foreign clientele who does not know and understand anything on Japan.
- Verified traveler (10/5): A wonderful Guest House/Hostel to stay at! - We were a group of four looking for a place close to the station so that we can walk to the station. We had a marvelous stay at this guesthouse/Hostel!
The hosts are a married couple and I believe that they live there as well. They are a very cute, hospitable, and charming couple! They marked a tourist map with recommendations and tips for restaurants, tourist attractions, and the market.
I’m gonna guess we stayed in their guest house. It is super cute and very well maintained. Super clean! Half of us slept in tatami mats and the other half slept in the bed in the loft/second floor. The bed was not comfy because each of the springs in the bed were palpable on my body... but I think our friends were comfortable on the tatami mats!
I highly recommend!
- Erik (10/5): Highly recommended! - A very cozy guesthouse with incredible service! Comfortable beds and clean rooms. The breakfast was truly amazing. The hosts are very friendly and helpful.
- Ana (10/5): Amazing guesthouse - Everything was better than antecipated. Ken-san and his wife are wonderfull people that receive you like none other and make you feel like you are at home.
The house is amazing, it has a traditional style but a lot of small little detail that get your attention and make you smile. From the big, confortable and good view rooms, to the shared living room with bus and train timetables, touristic brouchours about Nikko and reading material that you can enjoy while seated in a sofa facing the garden.
We booked with breakfast included (served at 8am in your room) and it was delicious! A traditional japanese breakfast that gets you ready for the day, specially because every touristic attraction closes early so you really need to start your day early!
We were really sad to leave. As it was lunch time when we left, they even offered us a ride to the station and some cookies for the trip away. Definitely recomend and would stay again!
