Sandra (10/5): - Staff were lovely, a number of cobwebs in our room. It would’ve took no more than 10 minutes with a hose of a hoover nozzle to have got them off the ceiling and in the corners of the room, when we push the two single beds together there was also dirt underneath the beds other than that the room was of a reasonably high standard of cleanliness. The bathroom was fine outside areas needed some attention doors to be painted woodwork chipped some windows showing signs of decay. It was also autumn so to be fair the grounds were covered in leaves and there was quite a bit of green moss about. Parts are tired.

Lynn (8/5): - My husband and I come here every year. We love the spa and the food. The staff are very friendly. But this year i think we stopped in the worst room as it was so small. There werent any drawers to put your small things, t-shirts etc in, there was no room in the bathroom for your toiletries and even the bed felt smaller. The mirror in the room to do your hair and makeup was behind the tv and you couldn't use the one in the bathroom as there was no light near it so was a bit dark! Overall we enjoyed our stay but the room let it down a bit
David (4/5): Sad hotel - The hotel was very tired but clean, the reception and check in were slow and unwelcoming. We thought that the bar was help yourself. Sadly a very disspointing stay from what could be a beautiful hotel.

Vicki (4/5): - Second visit here. This time we were given a room in the fat Abbot onsite. The room was small, bathroom door didn’t open fully as it hit the bed, the walls were really dusty with large handing bundles of cobwebs and when my hubby went to turn the tv on discovered there was no aerial as someone had snapped the connection off the back. The bed runner had stains and tbh really put us off. Definitely won’t rush back here. Clearly no care or pride is taken when cleaning the rooms . The spa is nice onsite and has decent facilities

Amanda (10/5): - Spa area is amazing. Pool perfect temp. Steam rioms, sauna and aromatherapy rooms wonderful. Jacuzzi, warm but the hydro beds were not working. Gym well equipped but old weight machines. Staff were excellent, welcoming, accommodating and friendly. Parking is excellent. Room was spacious, lean and tidy however, the ironing board and iron do need replacing as stained quite badly so unuseable. Easy to get into York as a bus stops almost outside and is only £2.50 single, takes approximately 20 minutes. Overall an amazing stay, well worth the money and their pub next door does amazing food. Cant wait to return.

Frances (10/5): - Beautiful hotel. We had a room ìn The Coach House. It was clean and updated. The staff were all great. Breakfast was lovely. The only thing which lets the hotel down is they dont serve lunch and dinner. The Fat Abbot pub is in the grounds of the hotel. The quality of the food in the pub is good but the menu is pretty basic and doesn't change. We didnt use the pool and spa but it looked lovely. We would definitely go there again.

Ross (10/5): Excellent stay! - I brought my girlfriend here for a long weekend stay for her birthday, from start to finish it was a lovely stay, our room was clean, the bed was very comfortable, breakfast was extremely good with plenty of options, staff are all very friendly and helpful. Very close to york itself and found it easier to just Uber in rather than drive. The fat abbot was nice, didnt have food there but had a few drinks, reasonably priced, friendly, warm and welcoming. Access to the spa including pool, aromatherapy room, sauna, steam room and salt inhalation room was fantastic and the gym looked great (although not used by myself!). Overall our stay was great and id love to book another stay again in the future! Thank you!
Domenico (10/5): - The room was peaceful and we had a good nights sleep. The room was a little tired but was still clean. The staff were really helpful and friendly. The spa area was also relaxing, again a little tired but was still very pleasant.
Ian (10/5): Another weekend away at The Parsonage - Clean and very comfortable room..the bed was very comfy, could do with a few more milks as not enough for 2 people or could do with a small fridge. The food in the restaurant was excellent as always, the staff were very welcoming and efficient. The bar and outside seating is comfortable. The reception was quick and informative. Plenty of parking and a bus stop right outside for a trip to York. Lovely grounds, well maintained . The spa is a lovely place to relax.. This is our 5th time here, this time to celebrate my birthday and i absolutely love this place , i can't really fault it at all.. I would like to thank all the staff, including the ones behind the scenes, who make this hotel what it is..

Evening mesls st the Fat Abbott pub were fantastic. Lovely pub with great good. Cloisters Spa was really good and i enjoyed an excellent full body swedish massage. Excellent. Relaxing 2 night stay, just what I needed.

Lisa (8/5): - Spa facilities and breakfast were great. Beds, pillows were terribly hard and the pillows were also flat. They advertise that Elemis products are in the rooms, well yes, a hair/body wash and a small little lotion. I booked this property as it was my dad's 70th birthday and I wanted to gift him a treatment which was canceled on his birthday and rebooked on the day we were leaving to drive home. He had the treatment but couldn't relax and enjoy the benefits as he had to immediately get in a car to drive.

Verified traveler (6/5): Disappointed, not as expected - Disappointed with the dated room which wasn'tin the main hotel and quite a walk from the main car park, especially with luggage. Ground floor room with a wide window that everyone looked through as they gained entry to the building, so no privacy. The room itself was very dark and dated. Old fashioned windows which didn't close properly, wardrobes and drawers that had an awful smell. Hairs on the bathroom floor. Door hanger left out for room to be serviced but it wasn't so no fresh towels or drinks tray replenished. Breakfast was ok but bacon extremely tough and over cooked.

We went fir the spa which initially getting info wasn't that easy.spa info on website isnt clear either.But sorting the little issues and now knowing how it works we will be staying again
Susan (8/5): Great Hotel and pool let down by spa and Fat Abbot - Hotel was excellent. Staff were great would recommend the Hotel and would stay there again. However booked a 1hr session at the spar which was cancelled by the spar only 2 hours before the due time, offered the next day but for only 1/2 hour and not the treatment required so declined.The pool and jucosy were however excellent The Fat Abbot pub?? Booked a meal at the resteraunt got a pub meal in the pub poor service and not Gastro food. Believe that the resteraunt had been taken over by a coach party that had arrived that afternoon. Worst of all on departure was given an invoice which indicated we had payed considerably more for the room to Hotel.com than if we had booked direct. Still waiting for an explanation about that.
ELAINE (6/5): - Large twin room, but so hot even with window open all night. There was a fan but not much difference. Large bathroom but with a step up shower cubical quite small and could do with updating . Was very disappointed when we tried to book a table for two in The Fat Abbot restaurant that is on site and was told that no tables available due to a large group. When I said we were guests of the hotel and did they not have reservations for guests we were told only if half board was booked. There was a Thai restaurant a very short walk away, the only other eating establishment in the area, and the food in there was superb, so we probably had a better experience there. The spa was very clean and very kept, didn’t like the fact that you were expected to pay for the hire of a towel and if you wanted to use a robe and slippers it was £10 . Breakfast was fresh and tasty.

Full breakfast was excellent. No restaurant, a small pub on site but books up very quickly. Excellent Thai restaurant 5mins walk. Lots of shady parking. Spa/ pool popular, in front of the pub: The Fat Abbot. Buses into York ( approx 50mins) every 1/2hr 5mins walk from hotel.
Verified traveler (8/5): Lovely hotel with Spa - Lovely hotel in beautiful setting. Staff friendly and helpful. Spa was lovely. Negative was lack of sockets in room near bed and having a ground floor room there was no option for leaving a window open so room was quite warm. I would love to stay here again but would ask for a higher floor room.

David (8/5): - 3rd stay here, room has always been comfortable. This time we were in Room 6 above the Reception area. The room had been renovated to a good standard, however the Windows need serious attention - 2 large gaps under the bottom & the hinge had pulled off one side. Thankfully this was in June as we can imagine if a strong cold wind was blowing it would be very draughty - at least! Breakfast was excellent, the Fat Abbott Pub menu needs an update though, choices very limited. On each of the 3 occasions we have visited they had 'run out' of at least one item on the Menu.

JU YING (10/5): - A pleasant experience for my 1 night stay. The service, the comfort, the food were all on point with little to criticise. A perfect spot if you are visiting York or nearby towns by vehicle as there was ample parking available on-site that is in close proximity to the living lodges. The check-in and check-out process were seamless and efficient. What I felt was extra memorable was the meal at the hotel's pub restaurant which slightly exceeded my expectations. The lamb pie in particular was rather engaging as when I had cut into the pie, a perfume of that inviting gamey aroma gives that immediate expression of rustic nostalgia. The tender well cooked meat that is seasoned thoughtfully did not disappoint the beautiful aroma that had set the scene. Overall it was a pleasant meal that was fulfilling, well-valued and felt authentic. The breakfast was adequate but definitely paled in energy relatively. However, the service throughout my stay was exceptional, where staff was both professional and welcoming, which greatly enhanced my overall experience and I greatly appreciates.

Philip (6/5): Dissapointing room - Stayed at the hotel numerous times before due to getting married at the venue and returning on our anniversary.Great that you get to use the spa facilities and choice of food options on sight. This time however our room was above the Fat Abbot pub on property. Our room was above the pub toilet with the hand drier going off, music from downstairs heard in our room until 10.50pm due to speaker in the toilet ceiling. 2x holes in the room floor, room needed repainting, skylight had been leaking at some point due to brown water marks and rather dusty. We felt like the hotel had over booked and we were given an inadequate room. We were very disappointed with our stay this time.

Kenneth (8/5): - The Hotel is lovely when you drive in although it is easy to miss the entrance. Our room was in the Coach House and was clean but a little dated. The Spa is lovely and clean but lacks beds for the amount of people that visit it, and the changing rooms lack personal changing lockers. The Sauna and the steam room are not very hot but again they were nice and clean and you can hire a robe, towel and slippers for £10 per person for the duration of your stay. Although we did not get a treatment they were reasonably priced. The Fat Abbot attached to the hotel is lovely but a tad expensive £9.50 for a wine. The bar staff are not very friendly and lack a smile or conversation. We had to book our table for the evening meal which was fine and the meal was delicious. On our 2nd night we opted for some light bites of a cheese board but was told it was a special the night before so we could not have it and the waiter would not check if it was possible, we then opted for pizza and was told they had no dough we then asked for some olives and garlic bread again we were told this was not available this was at 7.30. Breakfast was ok and self service but the staff did not tell us this just told us to sit where we wanted again not much in the way of communication or smiles from any of the waiters. The hotel is a 20 minute drive form York City Centre and cost just £10 with UBER. Overall the stay was pleasant but I think the staff should be a bit more welcoming and smile a bit more.

Michelle (8/5): Nice hotel could do with bit of upgrade in areas - We booked a very last minute stay here. The drive into hotel is lovely and from the outside a lot of character. Inside main hotel was modernly decorated and still had character. We had a room in the coach house which is in the next building to the hotel. The room was quite dated compared to main hotel. Good sized room. A little dusty in areas. Plenty room for clothes. Had hair dryer and ironing board along with tea/coffee facilities. Bathroom very dated needs done up. Shower over bath. Bath had a decent sized crack in the top end, couple tiles cracked. Fan didn’t work. Loo brush needed changed. Had Elemis products. No shower cap. Good decent sized towels!! The main thing in the coach house is the main door doesn’t get locked, be better if there was a card entry system. Staff don’t have a set uniform to wear, be better if you could tell who was who. Good choice for breakfast continental and cooked, self service. Had meal in fat abbot next door which is restaurant on site. Meal was lovely. Spa area - decent sized pool, nice jacuzzi and sauna/steam rooms. Not enough seating in the pool area. And I did see a few ants on the floor!!! Didn’t manage to get a treatment as fully booked. Overall a nice hotel could be a little better if upgraded to a higher standard. Wouldn’t say 4 * as been in other hotels that offer that bit more.
Mr Robin M (8/5): Worth a stay - The hotel common areas are great, the gym was well equipped, comfy beds, good shower, and the breakfast was really good. Nice grounds as well - the only downside was decor of the rooms, while absolutely comfortable and well equipped, the style feels slightly dated.

Susan (10/5): Great place. - We chose it because of its proximity to an appointment we had. Lovely setting. Easy access and lots of parking. The spa is beautiful and I loved the selection available. The restaurant and bar is well laid out with really good food. The staff were friendly and helpful. I hope to return.

Daniel (6/5): Nice but - the place is nice, staff are friendly, the room we were in was in need of refurbishment, it had that old smell to it. Pool and spa was nice, loved how warm the pool was. Didn't think much to the pub / food, just glad i didn't pay the extra for the meal package as that would have been a real disappointment. The bed was uncomfortable so neither my partner or I had a good sleep.

Neil (10/5): The Parsonage Hotel, York - Fabulous hotel just outside York with ample free parking and an EV charging point (flat fee £30-first come first served). Super helpful and welcoming reception staff, room a good size and very clean and inviting. Dinner at the Fat Abbot was of a really good quality, and the bar staff were really great. Breakfast very good, with even better service. Easy bus in to York, stop just outside the main building. Only complaint-couldn’t stay longer! Thank you everyone at the Parsonage.
michael (10/5): - Took the wife to the parsonage hotel and spa for a valentine/birthday weekend get away and couldn’t be more happy with the service we received. The room was lovely and spacious not to mention cleaned to a high standard. The area where the hotel is situated is nice and quiet with very little noise. We will definitely be visiting again and can’t wait.

Great spa, huge pool, didn’t manage to get a treatment booked so book early of you want one. This is our 3rd time and will definable y be going back. Lovely Thai restaurant round the corner too!

Andrew (2/5): Poor, well below standards - Looks stunning from the outside, sadly the good part ended with that. The spa was next to the pub, not joined onto the hotel itself, changes for , Robe, slippers, TOWLES EVEN! Just tooth shine off the stay. Why there is. Charge when you would need a robe and slippers with the spa being so far away from the hotel is beyond me. Spa wasn’t exclusive to hotel guests and felt more like a communal spa than something at as hotel retreat WiFi was shocking and didn’t work very well, the room was very tired and dated with very little character in what looks a stunning building from the outside. Reception staff not very engaged either. Breakfast wasn’t included and charged separately, despite this if you wanted anything other than a regular coffee then that was charged on top of your breakfast. (Which was limited and not very warm) don’t think I will stay again due to the penny pinching charges that would normally be included included in my experience. Sadly wouldn’t stay again.
AJ (10/5): - Lovely hotel, always spotlessly clean & very friendly. This is the third time I have been back. The spa is very relaxing & breakfast is fantastic, lots of choice. Great bus service to York.
Dea (6/5): Average, definitely could do better ! - The negatives. A lovely building but the old part is in need of TLC, it looks tired. Breakfast is a buffet, plentiful but uninspiring ie you won't starve but that's as far as it goes. There aren't enough staff generally in the hotel so service is patchy and at times unsatisfactory (I'm sure they're trying hard but just not enough of them !) The spa closed earlier on the weekend, which seemed counter intuitive. The young lady on the spa reception was not a good advert for customer service, we asked to hire robes towel and slippers as a 'bundle' and were told there were no bundles available despite half a dozen being clearly visible ( no explanation and we didn't have the energy to argue the point ) we ended up just getting a towel and slippers but it was a bit confusing ! The good things ! The Parsonage main building is very impressive and charming, the lights along the drive are a nice touch. Parking was plentiful and close by. A few of the staff on reception were very friendly and helpful, our bathroom was nicely done (though there were broken floor tiles). The food at The Fat Abbott (pub next door) was lovely and the waiters were very attentive especially the young dark haired guy on Sat night, well done that man ! The location is great for getting into York as the bus stop is about 50 yds away. To round up, it's not good enough for the prices they charge. Sadly wouldn't stay there again. Someone needs to invest time and money in this faded old beauty !
