Guest Reviews
- Eline (1/5): DO NOT STAY HERE - Nice staff, but DO NOT STAY HERE. You are being SCAMMED. Where to begin. This place is super run down and not even worrth half the price. This is a scam. The place looks nothing like the photos. Its dirty, wholes in the ceiling where animals comes crawling in, damaged light fictures where the cord looks like a fire hazard, the "back yard" by the resstroom look awful. The pool area is ugly and very run down. Could easily be fixed by some new paint. The daily manager totally knew about the state of the hotel and wanted me to make a video he could show the hotel owner to make the necessary improvements.

- Rose (1/5): A truly awful experience, from start to finish. I would pay money NOT to stay here. - Probably the worst hotel experience of my life. The rooms are filthy. Stains on the floor, walls and ceilings; mouldy net curtains; damp, rotting wooden doors that separate the room from its outdoor “en suite” (toilet and shower partly visible to staff quarters). Lights don’t work. Plug switches don’t work. Dead bugs everywhere. On my first night, there was no water coming from the taps. Also no drinking water available. This lasted all night. Breakfast (sliced white bread) is prepared at a bar that stinks of gone-off milk and food. Towels are kept in an equally filthy room with a dirty mattress and mess everywhere.
Perhaps worst of all is the attitude of the staff. When I arrived, there was no soap or toilet paper in the room. I asked five times and waited several hours before receiving either. When the water stopped working, nobody seems interested or able to help. The manager even shouted at me, as if asking when it might come back on was an inconvenience to him. When I was feeling at my lowest, late at night, with nowhere else to go, one staff member tried to kiss me on my face. I was horrified. I didn’t feel safe.
On the second night, before we thankfully managed to find somewhere else to stay, the people in the room next door playing thumping techno music at 3am. Staff didn’t not intervene or help.
It is honestly the stuff of horror movies and if it hadn’t been New Year’s Eve and all the other hotels were booked, we would have escaped immediately. The pricing is absolutely outrageous - perhaps this is what tricked us into thinking we were staying somewhere decent. We have stayed at many lovely hotels across Sri Lanka for the same or less than they were charging.
When it came to checking out, management seemed completely oblivious and unconcerned. They were extremely rude and would only offer a 10% discount for all of the above. This property is not fit to be run as at hotel, and the staff are at best incompetent and at worst lecherous.
- Aneka (3/5): Poor - The property was well located, 10mins from Ahangama town and close to weligama too The property is extremely run down - clearly lacking maintenance, Paint on the floors are peeling, doors don’t open or close very well, There was limescale build up in the bathroom, Quite a few bugs were entering the room at night and the AC had a short circuit with a burning smell on the second night. We had no room service, no available fresh towels etc for 3 days. The staff are barely around, it’s difficult to locate anyone - we had to speak to the security guard every time we needed something. And, the complementary breakfast was quite bad - eggs were watery and had a bug in it. Personally, I didn’t think it was worth the price compared to other comparatively priced hotels. Overall disappointed with the W15 experience, would not recommend.

- Sanduka (7/5): Good -
- Poornima (6/5): Pleasant stay! - The host and the staff were super friendly and accomodating. The pool area didn't look similar to the pictures, so that was a little disappointing. The rooms didn't seem to be maintained that well, although it could be due to the off-season.
- Widanapathirana (7/5): Good - Friendly staff. Wash room curtains were broken. Cleanliness could be improved.
- Rukshan (7/5): Good -
- Shalika (8/5): Very good -
- Juan (1/5): Worst stay in Sri Lanka, DIRTY, expensive, pathetic standard of service and unhelpful staff. - Nothing Save yourself time and money by avoiding this place. Starting off by the price of $93 USD which is not cheap at all for a 3 star hotel which I wouldn’t give a one star rate.
When we arrived upon check in the room wasn’t ready because they wait until guests actually show up to the hotel to put “clean linen” in your room, which was definitely not clean at all.
The floor in the room was not clean, there was spills marks everywhere from previous guests, the smell of mould overall in the room was really unpleasant, the minibar fridge was disgusting and full of mould as well and needles to say that there was even a worm in the room roaming around the curtains which where stained and dirty.
The experience was followed up by being woken up by other noisy guests that came back to this place at 2:30 AM and decided to continue their partying without any concierge or security on duty that could check on them.
Next morning the breakfast included in the booking was nothing but a joke, they didn’t even deliver what we ordered the night before and being in Sri Lanka you’re served with warm “Papaya Juice” out of a Tetra Pack box? We ended up having to go out for breakfast else where again making the whole thing even more unpleasant.
Last but not least after coming back from our breakfast we needed to go to toilet before checking out and to our surprise there was not even a replacement of toilet paper, asked one staff member for a replacement and he had to go around the whole hotel looking for a roll of toilet paper, then I asked reception and still she couldn’t find one, finally he had to go to one of the other room that was checked out and take one from it.
The over all stay was a completely waste of money because I can’t even say we had a good rest or sleep, without mentioning the rest.
- Carly (8/5): Very good - Staff are helpful and friendly and I liked the room.
- Ann (5/5): Not Satisfied - Pool was okay also the receptionist and the staff really good. they are so pleasant. also the bed was comfortable and place is quiet also. rooms are not very much clean and also some facilities mentioned on the site were not available for example hairdryer, cleaning products, ironing facilities, iron, mini bar, alarm clock, clothing rack. Also the inner courtyard view wasn't clean at all. wifi is very poor, there was no single connections inside the room and outside areas. also they have charged more than the price shown on the booking.com my total was 31,613 after including all the taxes and service charge but they charge 39,238 from me!!!
- Anna (8/5): Pretty hotel with great privacy, in lovely environment - The staff was very nice and helpful all our stay which we highly appreciated. It made our stay much comfortable by reducing the difficulties of organising programs like visiting Yala. The amount of breakfast was a little bit less than satisfying and delays are often as it is mentioned by multiple other comments too.
The menu contains fresh juice and tea or coffee, sometimes the staff forgets to offer it, so do not forget to ask for it if you wish. In our case they were always very kind and provided the drinks upon asking.
The smell of the pillows and blankets were a little strange, not fresh, rather wet.
- Anjali (2/5): Very poor -
- Georgie (5/5): Super friendly staff doing a really good job. But the place feels very shabby for the money. - The breakfast was ok. The staff were delightful and helpful. The hotel is very run down. The rooms have very little privacy and no soundproofing so it was very noisy. You can hear everything from the rooms next door.
- Sarah (5/5): Lots of potential, very quiet - The setting is lovely, a lot of potential to be a great place to stay. The duvet was wet and mouldy, the mattress protector had blood stains on it, there was mould on the walls and stains on the floor. Not enough light in the bathroom, mucky curtains. We were the only guests staying there for the two nights and yet had to wait for any service, not very attentive or prepared for accommodating guests, we seemed to be a hindrance.
The rooms, pool and dining area, in fact, the whole property requires a lot of maintenance, a good scrub, and renovation.

- Reesha (7/5): Good -
- Dinushika (7/5): Good -
- Ruta (8/5): Very good -
- Mayura (8/5): Very good - The place was super affordable and comfortable. An interesting aspect was how they used small spaces to create a luxurious feel, and the outdoor bathroom was amazing. The staff was incredibly friendly as well.
- Binara (8/5): Very good -
- Don (4/5): Disappointing - Size of rooms, pool , comfortable bed No TV in rooms, limited breakfast. Less customer care.
- Minushi (8/5): Loved it for a quick easy getaway - Great staff, small and clean property so felt safe and great as a solo female traveller. Was at a very reasonable price Being by the seaside makes properties harder to maintain and this doesn't make it look the cleanest but the bed and bathroom was clean (which is the most important)
- Kalpana (7/5): Good -
- Irangaa (7/5): Good -
- Danielle (8/5): Quiet complex in good location - The beds were sooo comfy! Loved the outdoor shower and the friendly staff.
- Wijesinghe (10/5): Exceptional - Very calm and attentive staff
- Rasandu (8/5): Very good -
- Mendis (1/5): An utter disappointment. - Location is good The food was small in portion size, and was not of good taste, but was expensive! An evening tea was not served until asked for, and there was not enough creamers in the room. The glass and ceremics were not clean, particles serfaced when added hot water. There was no phone in the room and they did not answer the whatsapp number provided. We had to go seeking the staff each time. The staff was not friendly except for the manager. They might be not trained enough, tables were not cleaned until asked, the breakfast was served in the wrong order, took away the plates without asking whether we finished or not. Washrooms are not suitables for a family, because they are covered by the curtains inside the room. We do not recommend this place.
- Ranga (10/5): Exceptional - superb
- Noura (1/5): We had a problem with our room, the door did not close properly and mosquitoes were constantly flying in our room. We ha -
- Craig (7/5): Good -
- Frances (9/5): Lovely, value for money stay with friendly staff - Lovely spacious rooms, well air-conditioned. Lovely pool area and staff were really friendly and welcoming. The bedsheets weren’t very soft but other than that it was great!
- Claire (9/5): Lovely relaxing spot with great pool & lounging areas. - Good but a bit noisy with road below. Would be nice if on the beach. Happy with it though. Pool & gardens fantastic. Kitchen staff, men around amenities really cheerful & very helpful. Good breakfasts. Nice big bedroom with fridge & safe box. Outside bathroom needs a spruce up. Maybe new plastic curtains at back. Ants were a bit of an issue, especially when I left the lid up one night & got bitten when I went to the loo. Guests need warni g to close lid. Somewhere to hand towel & gown while in shower needed. Also be good to have a rail to hang wet swimwear etc. side lights by bed didn’t work.

- Yohan (9/5): Superb -
- Charith1991 (6/5): Pleasant -
- Nuwan (8/5): Very good - Privacy, it's very private and comfortable. The staff was very nice and assisting. Property is pretty neat Room upkeep could be better. Floor gets very slippery
- Thilani (8/5): Very good -
- Wmmd (6/5): Pleasant - great location severely understaffed as a result service was poor
- Zohal (1/5): Bad - Nothing If I could have given 0, I would have. Terrible place. Me and my friend had been looking forward to a stay at a 5 star hotel after looking at pictures, we booked 5 nights. When we got there we quickly saw that it doesn't look like any of the pictures. The place is tired and dirty. The room was dirty, both the floor, the bathroom and the headboard were stained. In the bed we found various of insects in the room. When we asked if it would be cleaned, we were told that it would be, but it never happened. After three nights we couldn't bear to stay there any longer and went to a new place. This place cannot be recommended at all, even at a reduced price. We have stayed in several places in Sri Lanka and this is clearly the worst place. Not recommended at all.
- Andrew (10/5): Lovely Villa with great team - Great location in a quiet environment managed by a brilliant team that made our stay enjoyable. Everything was perfect. Staff members are very helpful and attend to all our requests with lovely smile. Thank you very much to the team W15 for made our stay memorable. Hope to see you soon. Highly recommended....!! Nothing to say.
- Hashini (10/5): Superb and exceptional stay in Ahangama - The poolside, garden view and the amenities were superb and exceptional. The staff were very friendly and breakfast was really good. We loved how the interior was designed all in white, and even the sun beds were astonishing. We recommend this place as a very private villa to anyone coming with either their plus one or friends and family. Nothing
- Stephanie (10/5): Best place to relax in Ahangama - We enjoyed our stay very much as it was a very beautiful property located in a quiet area yet walking distance to the beach. It has a beautiful big pool; rooms are spacious, and the staff was very helpful. Highly recommend.!
- Jhon (10/5): One of the best place to relax - This is my second stay at this property. We have enjoyed our stay very much. all the staff , we have enjoyed the service, delicious food and calm and quiet environment at this beautiful hotel. its worth for the money i paid. we will be definitely come back again. 🙂
- Nicholas (3/5): Poor -
- Chamath (9/5): Superb - Perfect location if you're looking for some quiet and peace and that's exactly what we got. The beach is only a short walk away. The food and service were exceptional. The views from the poolside were absolutely breathtaking. The beautiful little villa is hidden away on the coast. Had the most amazing time at W15 Escape, Ahangama. Can't wait to come back next time for a longer stay.
- Gad (2/5): My experience from the place was not good - הבריכה נחמדה The place is dirty, the room was full of ants and they were especially attracted to the bed, sheets and towels did not smell good. The wifi worked very slowly to the extent that you can't even watch a movie on Netflix, on my first day at the place the hostess didn't know the password to the network at all, only when I asked one of the cleaning workers he told me the password, as mentioned it didn't change much because the internet is really slow. When I wanted to pay, the hostess told me that the credit machine didn't work and that I had to pay in cash, when I didn't agree, suddenly in less than a minute the machine started working again, strange. At breakfast I asked for a fruit salad and the fruit was not fresh, so I gave up breakfast the following days.
My experience from the place was not good.
- Jennifer (10/5): Fantastic getaway! - Stunning location
- Liisa (10/5): Beautiful hotel with great breakfast - It was my second time staying there during my trip in Sri Lanka and I love it!
We booked last minute, arrived 20 minutes after online booking and everything was already ready for our stay. Staff is very sweet, the rooms and the pool area are gorgeous and I love the open style of the bathrooms - yes there are some bugs in the bathroom because they are attracted to light but you are also showering in a jungle so I rather enjoyed the experience.
Also, the breakfast is fantastic!
- Noa (5/5): Passable - the garden is pretty the room is too dark, I had ants in my bed.. the smell of the room wasn’t that good, the stuff didn’t spoke much English I couldn’t speak with them. it’s not a 5 star hotel im sorry…
- Jako-kulcsar (8/5): Very good -
- Sanjana (7/5): Good - The best thing about staying at W15 Escape was that our stay was very private and the atmosphere was quiet. The room sizes were big and the staff were extremely accommodating and friendly to our needs! The pool was just perfect and refreshing!
- Hella (3/5): Poor -
- Liisa (10/5): Gorgeous hotell for some peace and quiet - Gorgeous oasis just a few minute walk from the beach. This hotell is quiet, beautiful and calm - perfect when you need to escape the otherwise busy streets of Sri Lanka, while still at the same time being close to everything.
Rooms are beautiful and clean, staff is very friendly. I arrived around quite late and had no problems checking in.
- Milad (9/5): Superb -
- Abedin (10/5): Exceptional - All was good
- Sara (9/5): Superb - The breakfast was amazing and so was the service. We absolutely loved the staff as they were always able to make sure we got what we wanted. The place is very clean and nice. We really enjoyed our stay there.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Property is ok but u have arranged us just bed we had to pay indian around rs 7000 only to the bed eventhough it was originally cost around indian rs 4000 for full board
don't cheat to the innocent people
- Johanna (6/5): - Poolen var inte i bruk.
- Tim (10/5): Amazing - Everything about this hotel is amazing ! From the staff to the food ... Thanks for a great time
- susie (10/5): Stunning boutique hotel - This boutique hotel is set in a beautiful garden, the layout is well thought out. The pool was clean and refreshing, perfect size. Towels around the pool were supplied and the sun beds were comfy and secluded.
The welcome drink was a lovely touch, refreshing.
The bed was huge and very comfy, had a lovely restful stay.
The staff were outstanding, very helpful, great local tips. They set up a stunning private meal for me and my husband where the service was excellent. A really nice touch that made our stay extra special.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great place - good food - Great place to stay.
