Guest Reviews
- Frank (2/5): - Room was filthy. Smelled like Febreze Plug In Air Freshener, Odor-Fighting Oil Kits were plugged into every wall socket in the room. The smell was so strong, but still didn't mask out the terrible moldy odor. Spend the extra $ and upgrade to a better more reputable Hotel or Motel.
- Rhett (8/5): - Hotel is very old building that saw better days many years ago. Room was very clean and everything worked. As a solo male traveler I would stay here again. It was a good value for the cost.
- Andrew (10/5): - Very good option for a budget motel. Clean, comfortable bed, plenty of hot water. Like all at this very low price point, there's some wear and tear, but they try very hard and do many small things better than expensive hotels. Breakfast is minimal, but adequate and better than some other extremely low-cost places. Wi-fi not so good, but you can't expect everything at this price.
- John (10/5): Good stay - Hotel has cheap rates. It is extremely dated, but also extremely clean. Beds are average. They have a breakfast but I didnt attend. Staff is friendly and talkitive. It wasnt my first stay and it wont be me last.
- Kimberly (8/5): Enjoyable - No breakfast. Centrally located. Bathroom door hit bed.
- Syed (10/5): - It had snowed 2 days prior.
Parking lot was not shoveled or salted
- Zachary (1/5): Save your money and go somewhere else. - Check in staff was kind The property is extremely dirty and seedy. The hotel was cold and smelled horrible. The room was so bad I left after checking in and stayed at a different property. Their WiFi is dsl and super slow and goes out multiple times. DO NOT STAY HERE EVER!
- Job (9/5): Superb -
- Anneliese (2/5): - It was late and already booked. Non smoking room smelled like smoke. Not clean felt like a fire hazard building.
- John (8/5): - This is an old 50s motel. The owners keep it very clean and nice. For the price, you shouldn’t complain.
- Mary (6/5): Apt. living - Loved the check-in woman. Very helpful. They have permanent residents, & we were in Room 3. Room 2 kept their TV going all night long. I could hear it through the walls & my earplugs.
- Bradley (10/5): Exceptional -
- Susan (1/5): Bugs drawing on me, so I left - There were bugs in the room that were crawling on my hands so I left !!!!!! Very disappointed and had to go to another place to stay. Will not recommend this to anyone.
- Jan (4/5): - Bathroom very clean. Dining area very clean. Fridge and microwave were spotless. Property is in very poor condition. Kathleen was absolutely lovely and the man very helpful. Sadly the place really needs a massive upgrade.
- Ray (10/5): - Next to Pa turnpike
- Brian (10/5): - Nice, older very reasonable priced motel. Nothing fancy and pretty old school, but I got a good night sleep at a good price, felt safe and the room was clean and quiet. Excellent check inn service.
- Bernardo (8/5): Very good -
- William (10/5): Exceptional -
- Charles (4/5): - painted over deterioration , moldy, stale, damp, kind of sad and scary it doesn't take much to satisfy me but this place didn't make the grade
- Hodson (9/5): Enjoyed our brief overnight before going to the Flight #93 Memorial which was quite interesting. - Breakfast was good. Place was quiet, and comfortable. I would have enjoyed hot water instead of only coffee but that's pretty minor.
- Daniel (2/5): - Nice people running the place so I feel bad with the review but if there had been more accurate reviews here my family could’ve avoided this bad experience. You pull up and the building is falling apart but, hey, don’t judge a book by its cover and it is called “economy”, you’re not expecting something great. But the we checked in and the water came out brown from the faucet, the toilet only sometimes flushed, the smell in the room was like strong perfume-y smell in a really bad way. We killed one giant ant on the wall. Then pulled back the covers and there was a big bug walking around on top of the sheet. We packed our bags and left. It was a cheap room but still a waste of money as we had to pay for a different place to stay.
- Mary (3/5): Poor -
- David (6/5): Pleasant -
- Karen (6/5): - Not a bells and whistles inn. But more than adequate for our needs. We were there to sleep and not spend time in room. Front desk clerk very friendly and gave us lots of helpdul info.
- Dale (7/5): Good -
- Michelle (1/5): it felt like sleeping in a musty old basement! - close to stores moldy mildew dirty seems like we just missed a hurricane
- Donald (10/5): - WE came in at 10:30 and rhey were helpful getting us settled
- Steve (10/5): - very nice for the money, the outside could use some work but the room was very clean
- Brill (10/5): Our car broke down we needed a place to stay and I am so glad we picked here made our bad day better - Breakfast was fresh and hot really nice to not have to leave and pay for Breakfast staff did an excellent job enough to chose from to start your day included in your stay I also like how secure the building is you need a key to have access so you stay is safe and most of all the staff everyone is so nice makes you want to stay agian our room had two queen beds a vanity with a chair air conditioning a table with chairs to eat at I can't complain about anything There is nothing we didn't like everyone here is so friendly and nice rooms that are clean water is so hot I could live in the shower
- Virginia (8/5): - Very friendly staff, place was supper clean, breakfast was cereal, or pastries no fruit., there was a small issue with the key to get into the main building but other than that everything was great.
- Nathan (10/5): Great place to stay for a ski trip. - Super friendly staff. Great location. Clean well maintained facility.
- Janet (7/5): Staff was extremely nice, helpful. Place is old and in poor repair. - Nice to have refrigerator, freezer, microwave. Smelled like mildew. Old and needed redecorating. Did not dare eat the food due to Mildred smell of hall ways.
- Muhammad (8/5): Very good -
- Yelena (5/5): For the overnight stay to jump back on the road in the morning would be tolerable. - Clean room and bathroom.
Comfortable bed.
Helpful and supportive stuff.
Close to the highway. Very outdated. Dirty hallways.
- Colleen (1/5): so bad that we left after 5 minutes - nothing we didn’t stay it was creepy and old and smelled and was falling apart
- Erika (5/5): Passable -
- Teresa (6/5): - Other reviews are spot on. Older motel, but clean. Breakfast disappointing. Location a little sketchy, but convenient to restaurant and convenience store. No coffee maker in the room and no options for coffee condiments, only sugar and powdered creamer. No sugar free options, luckily, i had my own.
- James (10/5): - Older property, but very clean.
- Christine (5/5): Passable - The breakfast was not the "deluxe" continental as described. It was very basic- Little Debbies, English Muffins, and plain bagels- no cream cheese or peanut butter. The coffee was hot though.
The people working were very kind and did everything they could to make us comfortable. The man watering the plants gave us pointers on things to do in the area-which we did! Important for us was the patio area where we could just sit in the evening with a glass of wine to chat and unwind. The outer appearance when we drove in the parking lot made me cry! I didn't see how we were going to be able to spend two nights there. Definitely needs repair. The two-key system on very old locks was a real pain. Our outer door key didn't work. We had to get another and still had to "jiggle" the key to get it to work. Room was dark and musty smelling. Tub was raised about 6 inches which made for a really high step to get in the shower ( I have a hip that is being replaced soon). Bathroom was the size of a closet. Air conditioner quit the first night- it was uncomfortably warm. The next day when we discussed this with the manager, he took time to bring us a remote to keep it going. (Don't know how the other rooms kept theirs going.) Overall, the room was clean- it just didn't have a "clean" feel to it. Carpet felt damp. I wish the owners could afford to fix this place up- they are very nice people and they would be so much better off. The end result- you get what you pay for.
- Sherri (1/5): If you want to stay at the Bates motel, this is the place. - Honestly can’t say I liked anything. So outdated and dirty. How this man charges 89.00 a night is unreal. We didn’t stay. Was in room about 1/2 hour or so came back from dinner and decided to leave. Didn’t feel safe sleeping there. Should be inspected and shut down. Wires hanging everywhere, mirrors everywhere. Dirty. And no breakfast as advertised which I wouldn’t have eaten anyway. Everything literally
- Chris (10/5): Would stay again - Owner was one of the nicest men. Rooms was clean. Hotel is a little outdated but for the price it was great.
- Spring (6/5): - Close to were i needed to go
- Joyce (6/5): - the receptionist was very friendly and helpful. The property needed to be spruced up. Cracks around the bathroom walls and floors.
- Vicki (10/5): - Roger and his wife were so friendly and accommodating.
- Darwin (8/5): - Personal friendly and helpful of the area. Hotel is old but very clean.
- Anthony (8/5): - N/a
- Laura (2/5): - This was the worst place we have ever stayed. The building is run down and outdated. When we pulled back the bed sheet, there was bug on the blanket. At breakfast, the pancakes were moldy! The dining room was filled with political posters and ads for specific political and ethnic community.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The manager was very nice
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This motel is not for everyone. We were traveling from Pittsburgh to Philly on the PA Turnpike and needed an inexpensive place that got good reviews and this met our needs. The decor is circa 1960. I would call it shabby chic with emphasis on the first word. Very old everything; carpet, bathroom fixtures, just about everything except for the television. That said, we loved our stay. Everything was super clean. The manager is very friendly and hospitable. If you are religious you will welcome the literature that is everywhere in the lobby and the room. There was a surge protector strip on the nightstand to charge multiple devices and a hair dryer. Continental breakfast consisted of coffee, cereal, toast and English muffins and was free, but other than a small styrofoam cup of coffee to get us out the door, we chose the Dunkin nearby with breakfast sandwiches.Cons were tiny bars of soap (suggest bringing your own), thin towels, and skimpy pillows. The tub is really high and the grab bar is necessary when entering or exiting especially due to very slippery floor. Remember that this is very inexpensive, around $60 per night with taxes and charges included. We enjoyed the quirks; plants growing wild in the lobby, rescue cats in the window of the manager and wife’s private quarters, faded flowered wallpaper. Very basic, but clean and decent. There are several chain motels off of this exit that would certainly be more what most folks would expect and certainly more pricey.
- HikersfromOhio (8/5): - Perfect for our (mine and my two great granddaughters) overnight sleep needs. Good morning coffee and high carb breakfast. My girls were excited to have milk with their pastries :O)
- Robert (10/5): Great Value - It was decent good value nice guy that runs place a/c worked well beds comfortable tv nice great location will stay again
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I don't know why this is rated so well. It was average and a little below. The lone staff guy was very pleasant. Walls are thin so I heard loud neighbors. Bathroom was very cold. Tub didn't drain well so you stand in water while showering. Breakfast was unimpressive to say the least. I wanted cheap and I got it. No reason to stay there twice as other places almost have to be better.
- Marvin (10/5): Low cost OK value - Older motel. Friendly staff. Not fancy, clean, some quirks and old fashioned locks and keys. Would stay here again, price vs quality good value.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Expedia should n’t listing this property in their web. It is nothing but cheating with the customer
- Verified traveler (6/5): - property was a little run down. exterior looks old and run down. the rooms were pretty much in good condition but the initial immersion is hard to forget.
- Margie (10/5): Looking forward to the next time. - This was a very unique little inn. The service and amenities were great.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Critters in ceiling - When I heard a mouse or rat scurry across the ceiling from one end of the room to the other, I packed up and left.
- Donald (4/5): - Unfortunately and unknown to us, the electrical sockets did not work. When we left in the morning and hit the road, our cellphones had little charge and we needed GPS. We ran out of charge. Really. You can spend a little more and still be happy.
- Carl (4/5): - Closest thing to a flop house I have seen in years.
- Melissa (8/5): Old but clean - It is an old motel with very few updates. But it is clean. The sheets appeared washed, but were stained, so that was a bit off putting. The staff was friendly and accommodating. There is an overwhelming amount of house plants everywhere. The beds are very firm. The beds could use more pillows.
- Nathalie (4/5): Not good - Air conditioning not working, electrical outlets none of them work. Light blinking anger fe wa. Minutes of turning on. And the cherry on top, political propaganda on the cafeteria.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The matresses have a plastic cover. When sleeping on it, one gets hot and wakes up. So Bad I slept on the floor, which was cold.
Staff could not have been friendlier
- Sheldon (10/5): - Nice old roadside hotel. Convenient to Turnpike. Beds were great. Bathroom was small but adequate. Large room.TV, refrigerator, and microwave. Very clean. Limited breakfast. I've stayed here three times. Great value.
- Rich (4/5): - Hotel and all rooms have not been updated for 20?+ years...Cramped. Uncomfortable beds. Killed two ants in the bathroom. Hallway to rooms had so many large plants it was a hassle to walk and carry luggage. Was raining at check in and the csrpet in the "office" was wet from the sliding door leaking rainwater in. Definitely will not be returning.
- Bob (8/5): Get passed the outside look - Overall, very good! I suspect current owner has recently purchased the property and concentrated on improving most important areas/issues - rooms, breakfast area, roof. The exterior grounds desperately need attention - enclosed pool, it’s attached building, play area facing entrance, entrance to breakfast area, painting, woodwork. Big jobs, expensive. Without the exterior improvements, the curb appeal is significantly reduced, BUT, as said before, key areas are in very good shape, and my stay was positive.
- Marlene (6/5): - The owner is very nice and helpful. However the rooms and decor got to be fixed. Get rid of all the plants they are in the way going down the hallway you feel like your in a forest. The room.. I get it’s a cheaper place to stay but fix things up. There was no AC and I was dying. The bed was way to firm and the shower was way to deep. The handicap handle was on the wrong place. There was an old cassette tape and vhs under the cabinet which didn’t need to be there anymore it couldn’t be used. Nice to have fridge and microwave. There is a small style breakfast. Overall it was a decent enough place for a quick sleep stop before heading on the road which we were doing for college tours
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Basic motel for the night.
- Buford (8/5): - Staff was very friendly, rooms were super clean and smelled good & was close to a variety of resteraunts. The only thing I would change was having more pillows on the bed or fluffier ones. Other than that it was great! But will definately stay again if in the area!!
- nancy (8/5): - Nothing fancy on the outside, but oh so clean on the inside. Enjoyed our stay.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - When checking in there are so many plastic trees and plants in the lobby that it was overwhelming- you could not check in without a piece of a plastic shrub rubbing you, I thought I could get past that and the room would be different. when entering the building there is a very large potted tree/shrub/plant in front of EVERY door, there are so many plants that it actually reduced the size of the hallway by half, you could not walk in the halls. The room appeared very clean, it was outdated and very small- but clean. Paid $49 for the night, and it was a $49 room- nothing fancy.
- Ron (6/5): Good for the price - This is a basic hotel at a fair price. I got what I expected for the price so it is a good value in my books. The bathroom is small, beds fairly comfortable, 2 fridges in the room (a plus), everything worked fine (lots of hot water). It is dated but kept very clean. The breakfast is carb only (there was fruit (apples) on 2 of our 9 day stay). I would stay again. This is a clean 2 star motel and a good value.
- Collean (8/5): - Clean and budget friendly. Will stay again if im in the area
- Carl (10/5): - Friendly staff...very clean room...ample parking..easy check in and out...would go back again (very reasonably priced)
- Michiganders (8/5): Comfortable, clean room... - As others have stated, this is an older property, but the rooms are exceedingly clean. The staff here is wonderful and the beds are comfortable - what else could you ask for for this bargain-basement price?
- Pablo (8/5): Nice Team - Very pleasant and helpful lady at check in. Property dated but super clean and functional. Tons of happy plants in common areas. Maintenance guy happy too and helpful with directions and ice maker location. Inexpensive. Simple free breakfast with local paper. Pluses certainly outweigh any negatives!
- Frank (2/5): - Stay someplace else. This was awful
- Verified traveler (8/5): Art of A1 Economy Inn - other than no hot water, it is unique, quiet, clean, near food places, convinent .
- KIM B (8/5): - Clean, comfortable, Receptionist had great suggestions on sites to see. Room could be updated, but totally acceptable
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Outdated but very reasonably priced, clean, neat if all you need is a bed and shower well worth the $50.
- Richard (10/5): A quick night's sleep. - We want a low cost room close to the interstate for a good night's sleep and we found it! The price was right, the staff was friendly and we were very pleased.
- Doug (6/5): - Nice staff, nice decor, very comfortable and priced great. Bathroom had a little bit of a funk and one had to hold the handle all the way through to get the toilet to flush all the way. But, overall great value for the price, and the staff couldn't be any nicer. Will definitely stay there again.
- Michael (8/5): Good stay. - The motel was very nice as was the staff I met. The room, while very clean and comfertable, was dated. It reminded me of the trips I would take with my grandparents when I was a kid. And thats not bad, I guess. Over all if I had the chance to stay there again I would.
- Clarenda (10/5): Good place to stay!! - Great stay. Friendly staff. Good sleep.
- Regina (8/5): - Hotel is older, but very nice and clean. Inexpensive for just a stop over.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great deal for the price - Stayed here with my 3 sons so we could ski seven springs about 20 minutes . away. We skiied all day, came back crashed here, rinsed and repeat. Great deal.
- geoffrey (8/5): Had some nice touches! - When making the reservation there was a delay in confirmation and suspect that the availability and payment issue for this smallish place was probably the issue. I was surprised upon arrival to be asked to pay for the room. The matter was cleared up with a call to Expedia.
The place itself was actually pretty nice and the nicest touch was the enclosed walkway that in winter probably make the rooms warmer and a LOT quieter all the time.
The Motel was close to the freeway and the more upscale motels in the area, and a lot of eating options were evident.
- Patrick (10/5): - Stayed one night to attend a nearby wedding. Didn't spend a ton of time in the room but it was clean and comfortable!
- Timothy (6/5): Um, does the Bates Motel sound familiar? - If you are trying to save money, it's ok, I have stayed in worse.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Needs updating - Seemed clean but things really need to be maintained. Simple/cheap repairs could improve the comfort of guests significantly.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Poorly maintained - The rooms were not clean and the washrooms could use some cleaning as well. Breakfast and the breakfast area was very bad. Coffee tasted horrible and not enough food to eat. No bagels or toasts. Will not stay their again.
- danielle (6/5): Wouldn't recomend - The room was big but it was not very clean or secure.
- Dave (6/5): It ain't the Ritz - For 45 bucks it was a decent place to stay. The owner/manager was very attentive, friendly and helpful. He encouraged me to eat "local" and not the chain restaurants. The room was decent but very worn. There was a musty odor that smelled of perfume masking cigarette smoke. Once I figured out the heating system, I was able to get the room down to a comfortable temperature. Overall the hotel was very quiet- just the way I like it. The breakfast consisted of coffee, juice, cereals, milk, toast, bagels and some pastries. Overall a decent place; it ain't the Ritz.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Quality and furnishings commensurate with price. Breakfast included and was good.
- Hondo (8/5): Inexpensive, not fancy but super staff and clean! - Wonderful staff. The room was inexpensive and SUPER clear and safe. This is NOT a 5* resort, but they don't charge like it. If you want a clean room, great TV and safe with no frills and a super staff this is it.
- Janet (6/5): Great Value - Friendly staff and a tasty free breakfast. Older basic motel, but scrupulouslyrics clean. Great value for money.
- Debbie (8/5): Affordable and clean - Nice hotel clerk but spoke to us through a small opening in the glass in the office, like a bank teller. All outside doors had two locks and two different keys to gain entry. Even the breakfast room was locked and had to be opened with one of the keys that we were given. Which made us think it was a high crime area but the town seemed to be okay. The motel is older but was clean and very affordable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great place to stay! Fantastic Mom and Pop Motel - I never do reviews, but this is a fantastic place to stay and I wanted to share. It's a bit outdated, but the outdated features actually give this motel quite a lot of charm. The rooms are VERY CLEAN and there are beautiful potted plants throughout the motel lobby and hallways! This place was quite a joy especially given the low price of the stay. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. TV channels were great, but also has a DVD player available. Wi-fi was adequate. Two fridges and a microwave in the room. VHS and cassette tape player in the room...not useful for us, but we enjoyed seeing them! We travel a lot for work, and we really hated to leave this motel behind! A true gem and worth every penny!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Economical - The only real negative was access to the breakfast. The key that I was told to use didn't work on the door. I didn't have time to complain.
- Andrew (8/5): Good comfortable room, close to downtown. - Room was clean, beds were comfortable, liked the little office room separate from main room, free breakfast was ok
