Guest Reviews
- Rai (6/5): -
- Karen (1/5): We thought Varanasi was a very interesting place to visit - Dirty, smelly. Dirty bed clothes and towels. Dirty floors. Bad host Location good for walking into Varanasi and people watching
- Axelle (7/5): Très bon hôtel à recommander - Oui
Bien placé devant le Gange Rien
- Alessandra (5/5): - Localização Sujeira
- Dsilva (2/5): Horrible experience - Nothing was good about the hotel. The walls hv paint peeling off. Amenities r not available. Toilet was dirty. Pillow case on check in was dirty. TV was not working. No restaurant facility. Breakfast was horrible. No bottled drinking water in the room inspite of paying ₹5500 per rooms per night. Not worth it at all.
- Chaudhary (10/5): - All good food is not available there
- Šimon (3/5): -
- Jennifer (6/5): Good position, helpful staff, only moderately comfortable hotel. - A fine position overlooking the Ganges, so that we could walk down and step onto a boat. We could also easily walk to the Assi Ghat.
The rooms, and the hotel generally, have heavy but generally adequate furniture. Cleanliness was patchy, bathroom pretty basic, provision of hot water erratic.
- Bindan (9/5): -
- Juan (5/5): Needs Lots of improvement - Right in front of the river non-hygienic
- Juan (2/5): Lack of hygiene is far beyond comprehension - That is right in front of the river Where to start…
The lack of hygiene is beyond comprehension:
-Blood stains on the blanket
-rubbish from previous guests
-bathroom full of dirt
-the Kitchen we saw it by accident and it was extremely unhygienic. (fortunately they didn’t give us the breakfast we were supposed to be given by the Hotel)
It was just a big No No…
- chayanika (10/5): - Excellent room Property location
- Lilabh Ankit (10/5): Very good and hygiene place good for family - Very good location and helpful staff Location and cleanliness
- Woodbury (7/5): I was well pleased with this comfortable, scenic, perfectly situated hotel. - Location!! Inattentive staff. I had wifi the first night, it was out the next morning, and nothing was done about it the last FOUR DAYS of my stay!
- Deepik (8/5): Worth the money spent and safe place for ladies travelling alone - Great Stay with Excellent Location and Views!
I had a wonderful experience at Hotel Ganga Monastery. The location is perfect – just a short walking distance from all major attractions in Varanasi, making it very convenient for sightseeing and temple visits.
The view of the Ganga and the sunrise from the hotel was truly breathtaking – one of the highlights of the trip. It’s a peaceful spot to start your day.
The staff was courteous, helpful, and made us feel welcome throughout the stay. Their hospitality really enhanced our overall experience.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for a comfortable, well-located stay with great views and friendly service. Cleanliness can be improved.
- Munishkumar (8/5): Good - ROOM VIEW Cleanliness, Location even though far from temple is Good View , Plus Photographs of the Room View need to be corrected as per room view, even though they Upgraded our room for River View with Charges
Cleanliness was as Issues Internally as well as Externally As Lot of Sprider Web Dirt etc was accumulated inside as well Out side the Room
Probably coming from our own background we have higher expectations , if Owner can spend money in Withwashing the property in regular intervals outside frontage and Inside, this will be great , Dinning Area Needs Proper LED white Lighting and Parition even if that is movable < Else we didnt have any issues, with our stay as Staff was GOOD
- Richard (9/5): Superb - Nice place one senior member of staff was good and helpful Other member of staff was stupid and kept asking for money/tips
- Muralidhara (7/5): Enjoyed the stay and visit - Location is beautiful, by the sife of Ganges! Nothing in particular.
Towels could have been cleaner.
- Pankaj (1/5): Worst ever experience to stay in Ganga Manetory by spending a hefty amount for a night. - Nothing then a little Blacony in the hotel from where nice wind was flowing which my son likes..! Worst ever experience to stay in Ganga Manetory
If I can give the most negative review it is less for this total worthless stay. First of all we have ordered Standard Tripple Bed and they provide us with only double bed with no any window in the room..!! After so much discussion we have to agree with what theyd'e provided us, as we don't have any choice left as it was 09:00PM in evening, and we were tired by travelling. Room was full of mosquitoes and found lizard too in the room. Even we have prior told the owner that we have a Special need son with us, then also after too much follow up for TV recharge they haven't got recharged on time even @ 11:00PM. Water also we need to request to provide, which is oweful..!!
Do not fall in the trap of Positive reviews for this Hotel. This is my honest and real review by experience. Please don't waste your money here.
- Julie (5/5): Passable -
- Jahanvi (8/5): Very good -
- Tiina (6/5): Pleasant - Omelet for breakfast is always fine. Lobby was spacious and ventilators functioned well. Bathroom needs a thorough remake! Drains were rather stinky. Bathroom door was mouldy inside. Toilet was impossible to clean - get a new one! Sink had no leg, so the drain pipe had to be supported with a brick.
- Abhishek (7/5): Good -
- Saha (1/5): Bad -
- Sankar (10/5): Exceptional - Hotel Ganga Monastery is the best choice for a relaxing stay in Varanasi. The peaceful ambiance, fresh air, and riverside view made my trip special
- Ankit (10/5): Best Location for Exploring Varanasi - The hotel is close to the ghats, temples, and main attractions. The rooms were comfortable, and the morning view from the balcony was mesmerizing
- Mohit (10/5): Affordable Luxury by the Ganges - This hotel offers luxury at a reasonable price. The rooms are comfortable, the food is tasty, and the location is unbeatable
- Hub (10/5): Comfort with a Divine Touch - This hotel perfectly blends modern amenities with a spiritual atmosphere. Waking up to the sight of the Ganga was a truly divine experience
- Kumar (10/5): Relaxing and Refreshing Stay - Hotel Ganga Monastery is the best choice for a relaxing stay in Varanasi. The peaceful ambiance, fresh air, and riverside view made my trip special
- Gopal (10/5): A home away from home - Hotel Ganga Monastery felt like home! The staff was warm and welcoming, the rooms were spacious and clean, and the location was ideal for exploring the ghats. Loved it
- Mahesh (1/5): My horrible experience. - Rooms were pathetic, shower not working, broken doors, unhygienic rooms, Tv were not working, intercom not working, on above that staff just ignoring the request.I was there for 2 days which I wanted to extend but went to Hotel Ozas, its value for money.
My request not to book here. Everything apart from location.
- Dishant (10/5): Friendly Staff and Clean Rooms - The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were neat and had a wonderful view of the river. Definitely coming back
- Deepak (10/5): Spiritual and Comfortable Stay - The hotel is close to major temples and offers a serene environment. The rooms are clean, the service is great, and the rooftop view of the river is spectacular
- Suresh (10/5): Best Place for Peace and Relaxation - If you're looking for a peaceful stay in Varanasi, this is the place. The view of the Ganges from the terrace is breathtaking, and the hotel is well-maintained with great hospitality
- Rahul (1/5): Never coming again - Bad staff Nothing's
- Kulkarni (9/5): Superb -
- Kaura (8/5): Very good - Location and staff’s ability to help us in arranging transportation and boat There was lizard in the room ;(
- Martin (1/5): Disgraceful - Good view of the Ganges, otherwise nothing to like about this. It was a scam, described as if it is a luxurious room and hotel, and priced as if it should be, the reality was a room not worth more than the going rates for cheap rooms in Varanasi ( £15-20). The place was filthy and disgraceful. I belive this to be a scam and Bookings.com should take some responsibility for falsely advertising the room. Unfortunately the booking did not allow a cancellation and the manager was not engaging in any discussion about cancelling and refunding- I moved after the 2 days to a much nicer room and hotle for 40% of the price. The room was described by bookings.com as deluxe double with bathrobe, AC, TV mosquito net, hairdryer, mini-bar, cable channels, tumble dryer amongst others, and it was priced at London prices not Indian prices, all in all you would imagine you are booking a very nice hotel and room. From the description this was a 4-5 star property.
There was no bathrobe or minibar, the TV didn't work and when I got them to look at it, the screen was cracked - they offered to replace it next day, but I made them do it immediatley given the ridiculous price of the room. The toilet had never been cleaned properly see photos of filthy taps, missing light bulbs, there was mold all over the walls and cobwebs and duct everywhere. The sheets had holes in them, and were dirty. The AC was so noisy I couldn't use it at night.
The following day I was given another room told it was a nicer room, I had to get them to spring clean it, at one point they lifted the bed and swept out years of cigarette butts rubbish and dust. The toilet seat in the new room was disgusting and I insisted they put a new one on.
Many of the surfaces around the place had never been cleaned.
The breakfast are was horrible, cracked paint on walls, with zero ambience (see photo with red tables). I asked to wash my hands and was guided to a sink so disgusting (see photo of corner sink and try to zoom in to see how bad) I couldn't bring myself to use it.
I am used to travelling India and no what to expect for your money this was a scam.
Bookings.com customer service were no help what so ever, no-one to contact when asking what to do given the high cost and disgraceful state of the place. I did an online complaint/enquirey but have not had any response. This was a scam and I believe Bookings.com should be taking some responsibility for it.
- Paola (1/5): Do not rely on this hotel for your stay in Varanasi. - The hotel looks like the pictures. The hotel sent a message the afternoon before telling us that the reservation was Not confirmed, we went to the hotel to ask, and the staff mentioned something was wrong with the room (the hotel was overbooked) and that they would cancel the reservation the day of the reservation, Not before. We have to contact Booking.com and help with that issue. Do not rely on this hotel.
- Aditi (2/5): Misleading property and facilities description, substandard, unprofessional, waste of money, totally not worth it. - The location on the bank of the Ganga, with river facing view. Facilities and Services were very poor and not as per description on Booking.com site. Our room 303 was tiny, with barely any place around the bed to move around. The mattress was old, and its spring was not working so we were sinking into the bed. The cupboard was falling apart and filthy. No kettle or drinking water was provided, and mineral water was charged for at premium price - not even MRP. Towel was provided, but napkin and toilet roll were only provided upon demand. Paid advance directly online. The management was charging GST but refused to give a Bill, so we ended settling the bill in cash
- Aditi (2/5): Very poor -
- Aashiq (10/5): Authentic Varanasi Experience - The hotel's location near the ghats makes it a perfect choice for an authentic Varanasi experience. The rooftop view was amazing, and the hospitality was top-notch
- Pranjal (10/5): Morning bliss by the river - Waking up to the sound of the flowing Ganga was magical! The hotel provides a peaceful retreat with all modern amenities. A must-visit for travelers seeking tranquility
- Suraj (10/5): Ideal Location & Great Hospitality - The hotel is situated right by the Ganges, making it perfect for travelers. The staff was polite and attentive, the rooms were spacious, and the view was simply stunning. Definitely coming back
- Manish (10/5): Peaceful Stay by the Ganges - A perfect place to stay in Varanasi! Hotel Ganga Monastery offers mesmerizing river views, clean rooms, and a serene atmosphere. The staff is welcoming and ensures a comfortable experience. Highly recommended for a spiritual and relaxing visit
- Aliva (1/5): Bad - Only the scenic view from the room. The staffs are very bad They have given normal tap water for drinking in name of mineral water due to which e evryone from our family suffered food poisoning.they did not even inform that they don't have water purifier
- Charu (6/5): Pleasant -
- Moinak (5/5): Location is good rest need to be updated - Location and view from the balcony were good.
Staff and owner behavior are good.
Wi Fi was good No kettle or tea/coffee kit provided
For cleaning your room, you have to made request. It is not done regularly
Quality of towels, pillows, and beddings are not good as expected
Normal water served in room as complimentary
Breakfast needs to be improved in terms of quality and quantity
- Mahesh (3/5): Poor -
- Asothan (2/5): Very poor - only the location poor toilet condition and bed linen.
also poor towel
- Girija (6/5): Pleasant -
- Tejas (1/5): Bad - Location and service by hotel staff. Poor state of room, torn and old Bedding/linen, Non functioning T.V. and A.C., Mosquito infested room, No tea or coffee availability...list is endless.
- Bhavanishankar (8/5): Very good -
- Chhawchharia (1/5): Bad - Location
Otherwise no value for money. Breakfast was very poor. Rooms were too small for the price charged.
No value for money.
- Suzanne (6/5): very convenient location for a comfortable stay - The location is very convenient and away from the noise of the city. However I would advice ear plugs because of other guests voices echo around the building The seating area by the balcony was left very dirty
- Kulkarni (3/5): Poor -
- Rikhiya (7/5): Good -
- Somnath (3/5): Poor - Only location was good . TV was not running. They didn't even recharge it . Room was not cleaned on request also. No facilities available.
- Somnath (3/5): Poor -
- Rishabh (7/5): Good - The location of the hotel was excellent. It was very peaceful away from the hustle and bustle of the other places on the ghat. The staff was also polite and helpful. The one thing I didn't like about the stay was the lack of other amenities like a kettle in the room, and only a small bar of soap was provided which is okay for budget-friendly hotels but for around rupees 7.5k more is expected.
- Sachin (6/5): Pleasant -
- Dr.chandrima (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hemansu (3/5): Poor -
- Vineeta (3/5): Poor -
- Arpita (2/5): Very poor - Location and peaceful ambience First of all, room service is the worst, for drinking water we had to wait an hour, they didn't clean the room on the 2nd day. The hotel were under staffed. The standard room was damp and dark with a bad smell, no similarity with the picture provided in booking.com . Secondly they are providing a common balcony,in which you can access it from your room , so there is no privacy in your room. Thirdly as per booking.com their check out time is 12 noon, but from 9am they requested to vacate the room finally at 11am they forced us to leave the room. Their food was not good, but they charged for it an excessive amount. Finally we requested a room for a night extra stay, They charged it a higher amount and took the full advantage of the situation, they only understood money, for a single service they expected extra payment. They didn't provide any bill for the amount which we had paid and promised us to send a copy of the bill through WhatsApp but they didn't as expected. Absolutely not recommended, you can find a much better stay at the same price.
- Honey (2/5): Very bad - Just the location Did not expect this bad for the money we paid. Saw rats and there was no cleanliness at all. Bathrooms were worst. Towels weren’t clean and neither was the bedsheet. Not to forget the blanket too

- Archana (5/5): Passable -
- Mohit (1/5): Bad -
- Navneet (1/5): Bad - Nothing Too dirty and facilities are extremely poor, location is near assi Ghat but all other locations are extremely far
- Sylaja (8/5): Spacious rooms, view, good value for money - The property is located right on the banks of river Ganga.
Rooms are nice, clean, and spacious. All have AC. Some rooms have a view of the river. You can see the sun rising from the property. Transport is available right outside the premises.
It is on the ghat from where you can take a cruise boat. It is walking distance from Assi Ghat. Assi Ghat is where Ganga Aarti happens in the mornings and evenings. Subah-e-benaras also happens there.
The in-house restaurant is nice. The chef accomodates your requests. The staff is generally helpful. Others restaurants are there in Assi Ghat.
People were very helpful and accomodative. I fell sick on the last day and we extended the stay by an hour. I also requested them to make a special hot drink with haldi and ginger to relieve the fever. They did accomodate such small requests. The place where they serve food needs to have better ambience.
- Prasad (7/5): Good -
- Balbir (8/5): Very good - Staff courteous. Good and tasty food. Hotel name on signboard
