Guest Reviews
- Kenneth (8/5): - Nice old fashioned manor house. A nice change from the the modern cube room. Nice staff esp. the breakfast team. Small issues of maintenance in my room - bedside bulb broken, shower hose leaking badly. Wanted to report it but the reception was unmanned when I left. Would definitely stay again. Could be cold in the winter I had an attic room .
- Debbie (8/5): - The hotel looks very nice from the outside with big grounds but the inside is very dated including furnishings!
- Timothy (10/5): - We stayed in the music room, the room was spacious and very nice. However, it wasn't very clean, the skirting boards where dirty
- Sandy (10/5): - Grafton Manor is a unique hotel with old world charm. The star were without exception friendly and helpful and the breakfast and dinner was excellent!
- Donna (10/5): - Beautiful Manor to stay in plus lovely quiet surroundings. Staff very friendly & helpful will definitely be returning in the near future.
- Julian (10/5): Grafton Manor - One night stay in the Porch Room, very comfy bed and a spacious room.
- Colin (4/5): Tired room with no shower in bathroom - Really old and tired hotel. Rooms very tired and no shower in my bathroom
- Brian Dermott Shirley (8/5): - We liked the old charm of the building and room, excellent breakfast staff very helpful and polite.
- Dave (10/5): Peaceful - Always a pleasure to stay
- James (8/5): - Had the potential to be an amazing stay in an old country house. The bedrooms have names not numbers. Music room bedroom was fantastic to look at when i stayed in april. But there were dead flies and dead hornets on the carpet where the carpet met the wall , at least 30 all around the edges of the room. Whom ever vacuums the room needs new glasses. The sink was embarrassingly slow to drain and wouldnt completely empty. The shower contols fell off in my hand. In the morning the bathroom was so cold i wasn't able to have a shower . The bedroom was only just warm enough end of april .
- Dave (10/5): Nice place - Stayed many many times, lovely quiet place, breakfast and evening meals are fantastic
- Julian (10/5): Grafton Manor - The hotel is an old fashioned manor house with lots of character. The staff are great and very freindly. The rooms are very spacious and beds extremely comfortable.
Great 1 night stay whilst on business in Birmingham.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Hidden Gem - This is an absolute hidden gem. I never write reviews but make an exception here. Choose this hotel, you will not be disappointed.
- Julian (10/5): Grafton Manor - This hotel is a bit quirky, with old fashioned furniture, but the rooms are spacious and the beds very comfortable. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Food in the restaurant is very good
- Simon (8/5): - A quaint old Manor House. You would want to go here for the quietness and character. I would suggest a perfect wedding location - hiring the while property and its 14 bespoke rooms. We stayed in December purely to go to a local family event and was perfect for that but in summer would be lovely for a wedding with a marquee in the gardens to cater for a much larger guest list.
- Rob (8/5): - Rooms are looking a bit tired but a fantastic building overall
- Paul (10/5): - Charming old manor house, just what we love, and the staff were brilliant, food was great too.
- Paul (10/5): Just a lovely place to stay. - It’s a beautiful gothic building very comfortable. The staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating. Will definitely stay again when staying in the area. We stayed on a Monday night unfortunately the restaurant is closed on Mondays, would have loved to have tried the food, the breakfast was excellent.
- martin (10/5): Go for the cheapest meal and water - So nice, so welcoming, so expensive to eat.
- Lynn (10/5): Lovely place to stay - Absolutely loved our stay , so much history, room was great nice and clean , bed comfortable, food excellent, staff very nice , will certainly stay again
- Elaine (10/5): - Lovely 14bedroom boutique hotel, I had the music room which was spacious, comfy, big bath and a separate shower. The dining experience was amazing, lovely food, good menu selection really tasty. Very
attentive staff from check in to check out
- Andrew (4/5): - Food portions small , I chose the cod ,3 tiny potato’s and no extra vegetables options on menu. Poor value for money. TV in bedroom not tuned only 1 live channel available. Disappointed ( I stay in hotels 100 nights per year)
- Chris (8/5): A short stay at Graffton - An excellent location close to the M5 and clearly very popular particularly as a wedding venue. The staff were excellent and very efficient and the meals superb.
The condition of the buildings is a little tired due to their age and there is a lack of some facilities one might expect from such a venue. However, these are minor issues set against the comfort and service at Grafton Manor
- Peter (8/5): Full of history - Lovely very old hotel with lots of character, dont expect mod cons, staff nice and pleasant especially at breakfast great service and food.
Only 1 gripe, they removed a large table from our room without explanation and replaced it with a rickety dusty one, not impressed.
- julian (10/5): - The accomodation was very nice, quirky manor house, lovely grounds and lovely quirky period piece bedroom
The facilities in room were very good and the bed was super comfy
Staff were excellent, helpful and friendly.
Breakfast was very nice.
- Dermot (10/5): Grafton Manor - Visited Grafton Manor for the first time since our wedding reception there 30 years ago. Had not changed at all except for the temporary marquee is now permanent.
- Victoria (10/5): - Great place , shower not great over bath and just didn’t work very well but we were only there one night . Grounds beautiful and breakfast was brilliant . We had a great time .
- Ronald (8/5): - Lovely hotel, excellent staff, breakfast lovely and tasty. Dinner a little over priced for what it is .
- Marion (6/5): Good dinner, room needing update - Friendly staff and very good dinner. Room needs update and breakfast disappointing.
- Geoffrey (10/5): Mid week business trip - Fantastic old building, friendly staff and great food
- Louise (10/5): - Hidden gem .. love this hotel .. perfect getaway even for just one night ….
- Jeremy (10/5): Historic - Very interesting historic building. Lovely friendly helpful staff family owned business
- Verified traveler (10/5): Second stay and we will be back -
Had another great stay, would definitely recommend tbe Chicken bhuna.
Excellent service
- Ravinder (8/5): - Nice property and building. Just a little outdated which is expected for the age and structure
- Rajul (10/5): - Lovely welcome and service throughout our stay. Rooms big and comfortable. Cooked breakfast very nice. Nice walks close by. Would stay again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Would stay again ! - excellent hotel ,lovely period building in its own grounds! Attentive staff, good food. A most comfortable bed !
- John (8/5): - A charming and elegant hotel which makes a welcome alternative to chain hotels
- james (10/5): - Excellent as always.
- Bridget (10/5): - Building with such history lovingly restored set in the most beautiful grounds, an ideal place to relax and immerse yourself in nature.
- Dennis (10/5): - Beautiful property, wonderful breakfast, friendly staff.
- Freda (10/5): Relaxing - We had a lovely relaxing evening & overnight stay
- David (10/5): Lovely place - Always a great place to stay with great food and staff.
- Sharon (10/5): Great place to stay! - Lovely place, this was Our second visit this week! We attended Our Son's wedding first & it was beautiful. The second was a return trip on way home, the food was amazing, the service top notch & the staff very friendly. Set in beautiful grounds!
- David (10/5): Nice place - Aleays a pleasure to stay here
- Jean (10/5): all good - Friendly staff, lovely food, warm and comfortable. Very interesting building.
- Gordon (10/5): - Very old property so if you look you will find faults- I thought that it was perfect peaceful and enjoyable
- Susan (10/5): Fantastic stay - From the room, the breakfast, the grounds the service was perfect. Tyler was super in all his service.
- Concepta (10/5): So helpful - I was advised in advance that the hotel was hosting an event and was offered the option to cancel. I chose to go ahead as the hotel was in a good location for my business trip.
The staff were so helpful and accommodating- they ensured my room was as far from the event as possible, so any disruption was minimal. They also provided breakfast at a time to suit my early start.
Bed was super comfy and facilities were great, in a beautiful setting.
- Julie (10/5): A hidden gem - Love this place, so pleased to find it , a hidden gem in bromsgrove.
- John (8/5): Comfortable Stay, but hotel requires lots of TLC! - The Grafton Manor provided a comfortable room and is in a very good location. The staff were very attentive and friendly.
On the down side our room, The Porch, is in need of an update particularly the bathroom, which is far too small and very old fashioned. The half mile access road is in need of some repairs.
On significant disappointment was that the restaurant was not open for an evening thmeal on Monday. This is not highlighted in the on line information.
- Tim (10/5): Excellent service - Excellent setting, grounds & service - early breakfast possible via pre-order,
- Karen (8/5): - Beautiful grand old building. Tyler, the Assistant Manager, was amazing. He was so helpful, very professional and interested in engaging in conversation about the house and the area and life! The food was fantastic.
- Angela (10/5): Highly Recommended!!! - Had an overnight stay at Grafton Manor. Tyler checked us in, carried our bag to the room and served our evening meal. He was most courteous and efficient as was the lady who served our breakfast. She was very knowledgeable about the history of the place and even gave us a tour of the chapel. Handy base for Hanbury Hall and garden centre. A much needed break which we really enjoyed and hope to visit again in the future.
- M (2/5): I fell for the pictures but was fooled! - Nice and welcoming reception but seriousely sub-standard service. Room was large and clean but very cold. Central heating came on after 6pm- no customer control over it. Windows were not double glazed so noise and raft came through all night. Bathroom was clean but water was cold and dripping not suitable for bath even! No tissue in the room, tea and coffee was very very basic and cheap. So was the toileteries. Restauarant was a joke and the bar-- ahhh the bar- they charged vay above 4 star fee for a bottle of Perroni and a pint. I was shocked when I saw the bill!! Breakfast: haven't seen anything as such in my 5o years of age and travelling for 30 years!! Absolute disgrace. Overall, a very unpleasant experience. £99.00 for one night with that level of service would be un-acceptabel to anyone!
- Dawn (10/5): - A sublime evening - a great welcome, friendly and engaging staff, excellent dinner, fabulous night's sleep and warm, welcoming, delicious breakfast. Would highly recommend for those who prefer a quiet, tranquil and sumptuous setting.
- Richard (10/5): - A lovely old manor property. A huge room with en suite. Lovely setting and pleasant staff. gorgeous comfy bed
- Dominic (10/5): Lovely place - Lovely place, staff are great and breakfast was freshly made and good.
Could not get hot water from the shower for love nor money until morning though.
Room was amazing, big and comfy, especially the carpet.
Will stay again.
- David (10/5): - Fantastic place. Friendly staff. Food was spot on. Rooms are huge.
Will definitely stay again.
- desmond (8/5): Very Nice - Quick overnight stop, with very comfortable room and a lovely breakfast attended by very friendly helpful staff.
- Graham (8/5): Worth a look - A hidden gem near Bromsgrove. Lovely grounds. Lovely historical building. Suffering a little with metal window frames letting cold air in.
But great staff the food was fresh and food enough.
- Ralph (8/5): Great staff and great place - I love Grafton manor, yes it is a little tried in places, but the building is amazing, and breakfast is out of this world, the egg benedict O wow.
- Michael John (10/5): - Friendly staff. I arrived really late in the evening and the guy on reception made me some sandwiches. He didn’t have to. Lovely building. Will definitely stay again when I am in that area.
- DR K R (8/5): Bromsgrove one-night stay - Excellent value for money overnight stay with breakfast included.
Spacious and very comfortable Junior Suite.
Delicious modern food for dinner.
- Michael (10/5): Hotel with character and history - Fantastic historic building in substantial grounds. The staff were very efficient and welcoming. Excellent bar, dinner and breakfast.
- Linda (10/5): Excellent place to stay - A wonderful and very welcoming place to stay. All the hotel staff we met were outstanding. We loved the grounds and the history. Would highly recommend Grafton Manor.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Nice building and location, just a bit disappointing overall, restaurant and bar closed (didn’t state when booked),deluxe room was dated, like a old peoples home,no shower curtain, broken table and a rubbish television.
- John (10/5): fabulous - Had an excellent stay
service, location, hotel all splendid.
thank you
- Jo (10/5): Wonderful - Perfect in every way. Also *the* most amazing bath I've ever had!
- John (10/5): Splendid - Absolutely great Hotel, very comfy , clean and welcoming.
would always recommend
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The building was steeped in history, beautiful and unique. The bedroom was lovely and the the bathroom extremely clean and modern.
- Claudia (8/5): - The house is beautiful and has so much history. The room and bed as lovely too - only disappointment was that there was no hot breakfast available (due to Covid-19), but there was no mention of this in the booking.
- Matt (6/5): - Room was nice, bathroom very modern however the shower was scalding hot, the room stank of smoke, very little water came out of the bathroom wash basin and the secon shower head didn’t work. But reception was very good and they were very good with social distancing and us having dogs on the ground
- phill (8/5): - Rooms are very tired especially the bathroom good place to stay very quiet and close to Bromsgrove
- Verified traveler (6/5): - A very nice setting with excellent staff and good food. This a beautiful building with lots of character however the bedrooms are in real need of refurbishment, for not a lot of investment they could make this into a luxurious experience, but this is not possible with the bedrooms as they are, a shame really.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Receptionist that checked us in was lovely and friendly, the waitress who served us for breakfast likewise. However she was rushed off her feet with no help from anyone else. We had to ask for coffee, milk and even cups and saucers as these had all run out and not been replenished from the self service part of the restaurant. The included breakfast was very tasty but very small as only 4 items are `allowed` with the included rate. You get more at the local, supermarket cafe. We had a junior suite and it was nice with a large comfy bed. Had to ask for a new remote control for TV as the one in the room did not work and it turned out someone had nicked the batteries out of it (it was screwed shut too! ) The bathroom was lovely with a gorgeous big bath and powerful shower. The hallways and bar area have all seen better days sadly.
I came to Grafton for a wedding 13 years ago and was wowed by it but this time it felt a little tired and in need of some sparkle and TLC and obviously a few more staff at breakfast. The driveway leading up to the hotel is full of pot holes and puddles and it is a real shame that the initial wow factor is somewhat spoilt.
It has so much potential but it needs a little bit of investment to make it wonderful again.
- Sharon (10/5): beautiful - Amazing place, lovely staff, so welcoming. We have been back as so nice. Defiantly will be visiting again.
Beautiful place and excellent food.
- Wendell (8/5): nice place to stay - Great friendly staff. Lovely period building in pretty grounds.
- Andrew (10/5): - Vey hospitable. Great room and breakfast
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great night away without the kids! - Really enjoyed our night away at Grafton Manor. Very nice setting, lovely wildflower garden and fantastic house. Food was quite delicious. Stayed in the Garden Suite which was old fashioned fabulous. Service was fantastic and super friendly. We'll definitely come again!
- Diana (8/5): Charming Manor - We stayed here for a night as it was dog friendly. The manor had old world charm and was in need of a little TLC all over. Beautiful gardens to walk the dog and the grounds at the front were well kept. We had the Tudor room which was spacious and the bed very comfortable. The bathroom was big and blue! The sanitary ware was all blue so a bit of a throw back but it was charming. It was a pity there was no Wi-Fi which would’ve helped and perhaps more than 1 coat hanger in the wardrobe but cannot fault the service by the staff who were very friendly and welcoming. For breakfast there was a choice of cereal, yoghurts, juices, toast and a full English which was cooked to perfection. Our evening meal which was included in the DBB deal was served in the quaint bar and the lamb Dansak was tender. I had a fish dish which was very tasty and the portions were plenty. There was a good choice of desserts and as it was a lovely warm evening we sat outside on the lawn. Would recommend the hotel based on the food and the lovely staff. Good value for money
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff could not of done more to make us welcome lovely old building with lots of history would go again
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Friendly staff, pleasant surroundings. I only stayed for eight hours!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property is teeming with history and feels like staying in a unique environment. The bedroom and bathroom were bedecked to a high standard - sumptuous and relaxing!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Detail on website difficult to appreciate
Good value for money
