Guest Reviews
- Richard (8/5): - The staff were amazing. My dad left his charger in the room after check out and Tanya one of the staff members kindly found part of it and posted the rest to our home.
Huge thanks to Tanya who was incredibly kind and helpful - she was brilliant and made our experience of the hotel a great one.
Overall the hotel was excellent value
- Elaine (9/5): Fantastic hotel!! Will definitely stay again! - All the Staff were so friendly and the hotel was really clean! Lovely outdoor seating area to enjoy a drink. Lovely breakfast cooked to order!
- Csaba (10/5): - Nagyon jó, nyugodt környezet, sokminden közel van. Olyan nincs.
- M (8/5): Great Hotel, good location, top notch breakfast would stay there again. - The hotel location made it easy for our onward travel, the room was good, older design with a good bathroom and shower. The inclusive breakfast has to be pre-booked for a time slot which made things easier. The breakfast itself had a great choice and we were looked after by a really nice lady. I had the full english which was wonderful. Across the road from the hotel is a small convenience store if you need any extra snacks or drinks. The stairs, we were on the top floor so getting your cases up was not fun, should have asked for a room lower down really.
Bit noisy but this was from other guests on the same floor. No internal dead bolt and you can't lock the old type yale lock from the inside. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, we were luck to get a space at the back of the hotel.
- Susan (9/5): - Very convenient location. All the staff were a delight. Nothing
- Ruth (7/5): - Breakfast was standard b&b fare. Good service. Well cooked poached egg.
It's quite nice not to have hotel buffet style.
Spacious room and bathroom
Lots of TV channels
Decent wifi
I would stay again. Loud buzzing noise when shower being used in adjoining room.
External noise factors out of the hotel's control such as car alarms.
Mattress wasn't very comfy for me.
TV channels were a bit temperamental. TV wasn't connected to Internet so couldn't use smart TV functions such as Netflix
- Ruth (9/5): - As described Nothing
- Hannah (10/5): - It's by bar the best place on Osborne road to stay. It's quiet and the breakfast is fantastic
- Donna (10/5): Very good value for money, quality comfortable stay with an excellent breakfast, lovely staff. - Really comfortable and clean, friendly staff and restaurant food was delicious. Fabulous breakfast. Nothing at all.
- Karen (9/5): - Breakfast is always good. Always freshly cooked to order.
Reception is open 24 hours so it's easy to check in.
Staff are always pleasant and helpful.
The stairways and reception have been decorated in the last few months, making it seem more 'cared for'. Nothing. It's an inexpensive place to stay, located a short taxi ride from the city centre.
- Girola (10/5): Fantastic place to stay - Cannot fault this place at all. From reception staff to waiting staff they are all so friendly and helpful. The room was spotless and the breakfast was beautiful. Will definitely stay again. This hotel in my opinion is way more than a 2-star hotel. This is not a criticism but a suggestion that maybe you could put semi skimmed milk in the rooms in place of some of the whole milk, but that's a personal preference.
- Stephen (10/5): A splendid, quiet hotel in the heart of Jesmond - The staff were excellent: very friendly and helpful. 24 hour reception is very reassuring. The room I had was very comfortable with up to date facilities. (I particularly valued the built-in USB sockets as I had forgotten my charger.) A comfortable bed to rest in. Unlike some other hotels on Osborne Road, there is no public bar on the terrace, so the evenings were peaceful. Only one niggle. I would very much have appreciated a lift. I can manage stairs, but I did have a heavy bag to carry.
- Wooton (7/5): -
- Paul (7/5): -
- Sri Krishna (10/5): - Fantastic stay. The property is in excellent condition, and a nice complimentary breakfast. Staff were brilliant. Positively surprised! NA
- Julie (8/5): - I think we had some of the nicest, helpful, professional staff I have come across in years - they were exceptional. The double bed was very small
- Colin (8/5): - Friendliness of staff - very good, helped with finding suitable restaurants
Good breakfast
Comfortable rooms
- Natalie (7/5): - The staff were exceptional, and were more than happy to do anything for you.
- Miran (9/5): UK English is terrible! - Bližina mesta Ni relevantno.
- Jane Alison Woo (10/5): - Very pleasant stay and luxury to have a great Italian restaurant with set menu next door There wasn't anything not to like
- Matthew (10/5): Excellent staff, thank you all. - The staff were simply incredible, all of them, from the girls on the desk to the night clerks, everyone warm and friendly and accommodated me being a pain in the backside. Felt a little on the pricey side, but frankly it was worth it.
- Donna (10/5): Great overnight stay - Lovely staff, spacious family room with bath and shower. Very clean Walking to the other side of the hotel with lots of stairs
- Damien (10/5): - Great location, extremely helpful/friendly staff and comfortable room.
- samar (8/5): Although basic , felt warmly welcomed by staff - The staff were so helpful and friendly. Special thanks to Laura who was so attentive to my needs and was very helpful Cleanliness please . The duvet was stained
- Damien (10/5): -
- Carin (8/5): Good value - Staff
- Anne (6/5): Highly disappointed - Staff were friendly, clean. Reality does not match photos. In need of a refurb. Room on very top floor and no offer of help with luggage. Cheap toiletries, one very small soap. No tissues. Only free view TV. Radiator in room loosely attached to wall and wasn't working. Breakfast limited to 7-8.30. Sorry, won't be returning.
- Alessandro G. (8/5): - Posizione molto buona. Area ben servita da mezzi di trasporto pubblici, bar e ristoranti.
La zona è molto giovanile e vivace, ma non caotica.
Personalmente il rapporto qualità/servizi/prezzo mi è sembrato decisamente valido.
Staff cordiale, disponibile e simpatico. Unica nota meno positiva, la camera singola forse un po' troppo piccola, ma considerato il tempo che ci si trascorre, tutto sommato è un dettaglio che passa in secondo piano.
- Fellows (6/5): - No lift, lots of stairs.
- James (8/5): - Amazing staff Mattress was horrible
- Tony (8/5): Enjoyable would stay again - Kippers for Breakfast. Comfortable room. Bedroom on 2nd Floor no lift but stairs probably good for me
- Esther (10/5): Fabulous - The reception staff were amazing. They were really knowledgeable about the area and could really help us with transport links etc. The night porter was really kind and showed me to my room as my husband checked in before me. The room was lovely, it had a bedroom with a tv and a sitting area with a separate tv. The shower had good water pressure. It was a walkable distance into the city. A bus stop right outside the hotel and a short walk to the metro. N/A

- June (8/5): A welcoming reception and a very good breakfast. - The owner and staff were excellent, they were very friendly and very helpful. The local area had plenty of restaurants and bars and some shops, the bus service into and back from the city centre was handy but a bit unreliable. The walk to the city centre takes about 25 minutes and is mostly downhill. The Osborne is an old building and is showing it's age, it could do with a refresh, other than that it's a reasonable location and let us do everything we wanted for our short break.
The parking in the area is definitely an issue ( nothing to do with the Osborne) so be prepared to hunt for a parking space, it's mostly permit holders.
- Chris (8/5): A great value stay. - Amazing value stay at only £63 for bnb per night..
Decent room, though a little cramped in places. Good breakfast.
Terrific chatty staff.
Very good location Parking is very limited.
Some deeper cleaning would help.
- Helen (10/5): -
- Daniel (7/5): Great people working here - The staff were all fantastic. Location was good and the breakfast was included. The room had some stains, I could hear everything going on in the corridor. Bed wasn't very comfy.
- Priyank (7/5): -
- Simon (8/5): -
- BRIAN CHRISTOPHER (10/5): The ratings are a true reflection of this hotel, the staff were friendly and engaging bravo - Good quality, affordable and fabulous staff Nothing
- Ian (8/5): - Good breakfast, clean, friendly staff Room was small.
- Jacqueline (4/5): -
- Louis (8/5): It did the job for what we came for. - Breakfast was really good. The service by the Staff was even better. The duvet wasn’t big enough. It didn’t cover me. The shower trickled and was quite small.
- Natalja (8/5): Good hotel for a comfortable stay, but the breakfast is very basic and not recommended. - I had a very pleasant stay at this hotel in Jesmond. The room was clean, warm, and comfortable. Tea and coffee were provided in the room, which was a lovely touch. The bed was very comfortable, and I slept really well. I would definitely recommend this hotel. The only downside was that there were a lot of stairs, especially if your room is on the top floor, which may be difficult for some guests I was also disappointed with the breakfast. It was English breakfast style, but very basic and low quality. The bread seemed cheap, and the ingredients also felt inexpensive. Only black coffee was available, although juice was available. There were no pastries, fruit, or extra options—just a very simple selection. I would recommend having breakfast at one of the nearby cafés instead, where you can find much better choices.
- Jill (9/5): -
- dawid (8/5): Overall, my expectations were met for what I paid. - The room was clean and bright, and both the decor and furnishings were well-maintained and in good condition. I really liked it. The shower water pressure was quite low. I wouldn’t describe the breakfast as " very good breakfast" it was simple, modest, and the portion was quite small.
- George (10/5): -
- Stuart (8/5): - Great location with friendly staff Nothing not to like
- Guest (9/5): -
- Jonathan (9/5): -

- Andy (10/5): Excellent stay in comfortable, friendly hotel with super breakfast included. - Very friendly reception generously allowing us to check in early. Room was very clean and had everything we needed including a sofa. Delicious breakfast served in special surroundings by a true professional. Nothing.
- Gail (10/5): A very pleasant stay, exceptionally friendly staff, wonderful food and tremendously good value. - Breakfast was amazingly good. Fresh food, perfectly prepared and served by very friendly and efficient staff.
The clean, bright and quiet bedroom was remarkably good value. Nothing! I liked it all.
- Dave (9/5): - Very friendly staff, couldn't do enough for you. The room was spacious and clean and the breakfast was really good
- Stacey (10/5): Would definitely boom again. - Easy to check in and the man was very helpful .
The breakfast was lovely and the rooms were very clean.
- Elizabeth (9/5): I have stayed here several times because it successfully meets my needs. - My room was quiet and had the facilities I expected. There is a good choice for breakfast which is cooked to meet your requirements.
- woods (10/5): -
- Fellows (8/5): Nice comfortable bed, just the job.. - Not bad, bacon was really salty though. The hotel could do with a lift, as no ground floor rooms, and lots of stairs, there is no mention of no lift in any of the information..
- Pamela (8/5): Would definitely stay again, but would ask for a large room as some are a lot smaller. - Room size, location , staff, breakfast Our bathroom could have been cleaner but everywhere else was spotless.
- Kent Cosy Cabin (10/5): -
- Lorna (8/5): -
- Laura (9/5): Extremely nice and helpful staff - great stay! - The hotel exceeded our expectation, excellent value for money. Staff were extremely nice and helpful, and we had a very nice breakfast. The hotel was very clean. Highly recommended. Thanks
- Richard (10/5): Warm welcome, comfortable room and great breakfast - Friendly welcome, comfortable room, quiet, and good breakfast Struggled to access wifi but everything else great
- Chris (8/5): - It was in a nice location, 15/20 minutes walk to Haymarket which the metro system also a bus station Nothing really
- Siqi (9/5): -
- Steve (3/5): I thought travelodge was bad......... - staff were pleasant enough rooms like coffins, bathroom smelt like drains were blocked, and the sausage was stone cold!
- José Agustín (9/5): -
- Shane (9/5): -
- dunnicliff (8/5): -
- Suzy (8/5): -
- Suzy (8/5): -
- Amy (9/5): Great value clean and comfortable room. - Excellent value. The room was very clean and neat, and I felt very comfortable there. It was a small room with a single bed (that’s all I needed) but didn’t feel cramped and there was plenty of natural light from the big window. The room looked like it had been recently refurbished. Great location, nice receptionist. I would stay here again. No complaints.
- GLENN (8/5): -
- Allan (9/5): Keep up the good work 😊 - Excellent staff on reception and throughout the hotel, good location, cosy single room , decent shower, clean area, super breakfast , some of the big hotels need to take lessons from hotels like this !
- Beckingham (10/5): Another thoroughly enjoyable stay in my favourite Jesmond hotel - Initial impression, clean and polished entrance and the receptionist was cheerful, polite, welcoming and informative. She recognised me from my last visit several months ago. My room was tidy and clean with sufficient fluffy laundered towels ready. The bed was comfortable and pillows likewise. The shower was exceptional, I'm a plumber so I should know. There were ample sockets for recharging my phone, and my toothbrush as well. The curtains blocked out morning sunlight to satisfaction. I prefer a window open at nights and even so the traffic pollution was minimal if even noticeable. The breakfast in the morning was cooked to order and of a high standard, as before. All in all, another thoroughly enjoyable and great value for money stay in my favourite Jesmond hotel. Having to leave?
- Leanne (8/5): I'd definitely go back if I was needing to stay in the area again. - The staff were fabulous, Laura on reception when I arrived couldn't have been more helpful. The lady, sorry I didn't get her name, in the breakfast room was brilliant, funny and informative.
Bed was comfortable, everything was clean.
Breakfast was lovely. The shower room/toilet was teeny, if I was just a little bit wider I'd have found getting to the toilet quite difficult, very narrow between sink and shower.
- Francesca (9/5): Great independent hotel, lovely staff, lovely and clean. Great price for the location and even better that it includes b - Staff, cleanliness, price, location. The bed was only a small double, rather than standard double.
- Mary (10/5): Great hotel in Jesmond, would definitely stay again - We booked just one night. It was a super choice . We got a lovely welcome from Laura on Reception who gave us some tips on exploring the city. Rooms were really comfortable and clean, and great value. Rooms had a TV and kettle which is always welcome. Breakfast was great too. Nothing

Good breakfast Very friendly staff Nothing

- Wirralians (9/5): Economical stay in a good location. - Location is great. Easy to reach by metro (some may not like the 9-10 minute walk). Plenty of great eating and drinking within 10 minutes' walk in a great mix of wealthy suburbia and studentland.
The cooked breakfast was nice (albeit the scrambled egg was more like a rolled up omelette). Booked slots to help kitchen staff are fine by me. I would have preferred more choice of cereal.
Room was quiet, facing the side road. Bed was comfortably firm. Room carpet was basic and showed every grain of dirt, especially around the skirting boards and desk.
- Gordon (7/5): -
- Paul (8/5): - Good for this price point. Nice new bathroom. Lovely lady on Reception in the afternoon allowed us to leave our car ahead of check in. Great service also from waitress at breakfast
- John (8/5): Exactly what we needed for a weekend visiting in Newcastle. - This hotel is in the very fancy student accomodation area of Jesmond so ideal for anyone visiting their children at the university or working at the university. The staff are lovely and welcoming and the hotel is spotlessly clean. It is just away from the very lively student bars and restaurants further up Osborne Road so relatively quiet.
There is a cosy little bar area and good breakfast available.
5 -10 minutes walk to metro station. 15 to University campus.
- Julia (7/5): - Great location with car parking. Rooms very clean and tasty breakfast. Staff were friendly. Good value for money. Decor in rooms quite dated and tired looking.
- Tracy (9/5): Good location, great breakfast, really friendly staff. -
- Kolleen (7/5): -
- mark (7/5): Great budget hotel, good location - Great friendly staff Average breakfast
- Sian (10/5): - Staff were super friendly and helpful, breakfast was great too Shower was a bit low for me!
