Guest Reviews
- Georgina (2/5): Stay - Was not suitable for disabled persons whatsoever I struggle the hole stay. Was not aware how to coupe with disabled persons.
- Daniel (6/5): - .
- kw (8/5): - Nice and quiet. The host very friendly. Local pub and shops handy. Too far from A2 than anticipated.
- Paul (6/5): Just not for me - I was disappointed with the area and the Lodge.
Not having en-suite
was not for me. Greeting was really good. The room was clean and comfortable. Just not for me. Sorry.
- Gary (10/5): Hidden Gem - The owner of The Lodge was very welcoming providing me with good information on how to find the place. My room was well equipped with TV, Fridge and Kettle plus storage for clothing if I needed to use it. The site also has ample parking. Although miles from other places, it's a quiet location and quite a hidden gem. It doesn't take long to get back to the Chatham area.
- hady (10/5): - Very clean and quiet
- Michael (10/5): Grain - It was an interesting drive, a bit like a science fiction film.
I could see there was something massive and well lit up in the distance. Eventually I found Grain, a village in the middle of nowhere. I found a fish & chip shop. The lodge was quite and nice and I slept well.
- Philip (8/5): - Although the property needs some renovating and a bit of paint in places it was VERY clean. Nice welcome. Very quiet - not just the area but the property was as well. Would have been nice to have a served breakfast even if just continental.
Bed was good. Parking easy. A good base to visit the area.
- Nicola (10/5): Great stay - Clean and comfortable. Hosts friendly and welcoming. We had a lovely stay. We enjoyed the coastal walks from the property.
- Louisa (10/5): - Host was super lovely. Peaceful, affordable place to stay. Close to the sea, walking distance. Quiet get away, would go back again.
- Daniel (10/5): - Good value for money
- Linda (8/5): - Basic but comfortable, everything worked fine. Nice quiet area with shop and takeaways close by. We wanted a place far away from the city and this was just right with long walks in and around the area. For those looking for a luxury stay and nightlife this is not for you.
- Val (10/5): - Owner lovely
Good for money
- Daniel (8/5): A good, traditional guest house. - This is a good old-fashioned guest house near the sea. Comfy bed, clean bathrooms. Really good value for money. The house is tucked away behind the local library, but the owners sent a text message before the start of my trip, explaining how's to find the place.
- Ebenezer (10/5): - Only one word to describe our stay here - fantastic!
- Mark (8/5): Great value - Great value nothing fancy but clean warm and comfortable
- Ruth (6/5): - This is a no-frills guest house, that doesn't pretend to be any thing else.. Remarkably cheap.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean nice staff easy parking close to shops
- Adnan (8/5): Good for business trip - Nice comfy bed and helpful staff
- Anthony (4/5): Where not to stay. - The pictures of this place are misleading. The rooms are tiny, dank and smell as if the windows hadn't been open for sometime. I declined to stay and left immediately to find a Travelodge. Very disappointed and regret pre-paying for this facility. I honestly feel the host should refund my money!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean and comfortable. Henry is a fab gentleman.
- Fred (10/5): Relaxing hotel. - We stayed at hotel as we were seeing relatives on the island.we had an excellent time and we
Would stay again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I was going to give a negative rating so that no-one else would find this absolute gem of a place, but that would have been unfair and selfish. This is by far the best place I have stayed for years. Henry and Heidi were the perfect hosts and couldn't do enough for us. Thank you so much.
The only downside (which we knew before we booked) is that it's on the Isle of Grain, but the road is much safer now than it was and most of it is dual carriageway so you're only about 15/20 minutes from civilization!
We will definitely aim to return
- Rachael (8/5): Solo stay - Nice stay Henry was very accommodating and friendly
- Lauren (10/5): A little gem - This guest house is a little gem. The rooms are spacious and clean and the breakfast was great. The hosts are very friendly and it has a lovely homely feel to the place. I would would really recommend it and will definitely be back.
- Stuart (10/5): - A very quiet location, and the property is run by two lovely people who do their utmost to make you welcome. Some areas show their age but it looks like a work in progress and they are upgrading rooms as and when they can. Recommended
.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Incredible value for money. Henry is a very helpful and friendly host.
- Monika (8/5): Very welcoming hosts - Before my check in time I got email from host with direction to The Lodge, which was very useful, as it is quite hard to find. Very nice, quiet area. Very welcoming and nice couple, running family business. I came during maintenance work, but they have been very helpful and made sure I feel comfortable. Clean and spacious room and bathroom, good wifi. Nice breakfast. Worth the price.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely owner, helpful and cheerful. Nice little sleepy town.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The most unique features are the friendliness of the staff and what it offers for the price. My son said it was 1st class
- Olga (8/5): - Friendly service
- Christopher (8/5): The Lodge Grain UK - The owners of The Lodge are so welcoming and offer wonderful service. The accommodations are basic...don't expect anything but the most simple rooms. We stayed in Room 3 on the ground floor which proved to be a bit noisy because it is literally right next to the breakfast room.
Breakfast was full English and quite generous. There is a microwave in the breakfast room and a fridge in the room so you could probably bring food for other meals.
Parking is available.
- Sandra (8/5): - Only stayed one night would easily stay again as the place although basic was very comfortable and services were really friendly and helpful. Good breakfast
- Neville (6/5): Cheap but not “Fabulous”. - The “fabulous” rating swayed my decision to stay here. It’s fine if you want somewhere cheap for one night if you’re working locally (as I was) but if I go again I will probably stay in Rochester. The place was very basic and a bit drab and dated / jaded. The owner/manager was very friendly and very helpful though. Great for a cheap stay.
- Murray (10/5): A gem on the Isle of Grain. - Wonderful B&B, quiet location, very restful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The room was simple but nice, the staff very welcoming, polite and ready to hear about your journey and where your from. Breakfast was well cooked with plenty of choice. Over all a pleasant stay and would be more than happy to recommend.
- Murray (10/5): Squeaky clean and excellent value! - The Lodge Guest House is a superb location to stay at. It is inexpensive and very good value, they offer a full English breakfast inclusive with the nightly rate. The customer service is excellent and the place is squeaky clean. One of the best places I have stayed at, through Hotels.com
- David (10/5): Top class work in progress - brilliant location quiet tucked away super friendly people superb local pub cheap just what we wanted
- Wayne (10/5): Great inexpensive B&B - Basic B&B but has everything you could want, very clean and a wonderful breakfast every morning, I was in room six TV, wifi and a shower room and toilet next door to me, The owner is very helpful and can't do enough to help. I will certainly be visiting again when I am in the south east,
- Luke (10/5): Very good - For the price you pay this was the perfect b&b. Lovely greeting on arrival and every thing you need for a comfortable stay. Off road parking and breakfast was lovely. Very friendly place. Like i said for the price you can't complain.
- Oliver (10/5): An unpolished gem! - We'd had a very exhausting week, therefore we needed a place to relax and get some rest. The lodge answered all of our needs. We felt welcome, help or advice was always there when needed as well as friendly suggestions. It's not a 4-star hotel, but that wasn't what we were looking for and we really enjoyed our stay there (hugely due to the owner who made us feel at home). I highly recommend it!
- Pamela (8/5): Not luxury but very good value, pleasant stay - Great welcome from our host; area not great in itself but convenient to get to Rochester & motorways so worked well for my daughter and I as a base for a last minute weekend break. Guest house would not win awards for interior design but was clean, had good wifi, tea/coffee tray, fridge, large tv if you wanted it, plenty of plug sockets (extension leads). Biggest bug bear was no mirror other than a small one in the bathroom which meant there wasn't one near a socket to dry your hair in front of and it was not a great mirror for make up either and I'm quite sure men would struggle to use it shaving. Maybe other rooms were different. This was room 3 . Mattress a little soft for our liking but that's personal taste. Good basic breakfast including cooked items; not an extensive choice but adequate and cooked well. All in all there was a homely feel about the place, it was good value, had all the basic requirements so would recommend.
- chalky (10/5): - very nice stay
nice little pub 3 mins walk
shop 3 mins walk
breakfast 100%
would stay again
- Alexander (10/5): Salt of the earth - We’re can I start one r.d in one r.d out Isle of Grain!! What a lovely village true British hospitality from the start. I received a complimentary email from Henry explaining the exact location and asking if there was any thing further I needed for my stay. The Lodge Guest House is exactly what it says on the tin a no thrills b&b! However this is complimented with a 5star service which you will be very hard pressed to find in a travel lodge. The operations facilitator Henry what can I say he’s the salt of the earth a lovely gentleman, you could spend hours chatting with. Across the UK true British quality of service is dieing out, this is not the case here the stamp of true authentic British quality of services is firmly established. Would I stay again? Of course the price and level of service is exceptional.
- Ange (10/5): - Beautiful guest house. Staff very polite and nother to much trouble. Is basic but full english breakfast was beautiful.
- Verified traveler (4/5): You get what you pay for - The B&B is tucked away with ample parking which is good. Also close to a small beach and pub which was nice to walk too.
The room we stayed in was run down but bearable for the 1 night we stayed in it. The room was FREEZING though as they don’t like to put the heating on so I had to sleep with lots of layers on which isn’t ideal.
We were greeted and shown our room and told breakfast was next door and served between 8am-12pm however when we went to get some there was no staff around so we ended up leaving cold and hungry
- Ian (10/5): Best bed and breakfast - Well what a great b/b very clean staff very professional and helpful WiFi very fast breakfast was excellent one of the best bed and breakfasts I have stayed in I will be going back again
- Tamarisk (10/5): Great hotel with amazing service - Me and my fiancé stayed here for a couple nights and loved it.
Brilliant little place, lovely people, close to a shop, bar and chip shop
- Ian (8/5): - OK room etc ( a bit too warm when the heater automatically came on). Good Pub nearby and pleasant coastal walks to do
- Verified traveler (8/5): Just the job. - Clean and tidy room. Comfortable bed, Excellent service. Very good value for money.
- Ray (10/5): Back to basics - Meet Henry your host what a great guy nothing is to much trouble, the whole place may need a lick of paint but what you do get is a great rate great breakfast and a good nights sleep, would stay again.
