Guest Reviews
- gracemJ2056PO (10/5): Great lunch - Great lunch and good value for money. Also our waitress, Scarlett, was fab! Really lovely atmosphere and the food arrived quickly.
- felicityf2026 (10/5): Cosy Pub Vibes - Only came in for a drink but my partner ended up having a small bite for lunch. (Would highly recommend the cheese toastie - it was delicious!) Pub is cosy and chilled and the staff are lovely, will definitely be coming back to try more of the food!
- pamelalX6393HT (10/5): Family festive lunch - Excellent service from Scarlett today, very attentive and welcoming
Lovely meal with family
Food very good
Cody and friendly atmosphere
- jamesnQ4048CS (10/5): Amazing food - Came here on Tuesday evening with my wife the food was incredible. The service we recieved tonight from Nicole was outstanding.
We will be returning
- SMEite (10/5): Lunch at The AbbeyField - Lovely lunch with our hosts Marc and Gareth looking after us. Food was delicious. Highly recommend the cheese toastie!
- Alexandra (10/5): - Lovely room in a historic building. Service was wonderful. Free parking available around the back of the building. Nice restaurant.
- Gareth (8/5): - Really friendly staff at check-in (the on-site manager). Simple but comfortable room in a quiet area.
- Elaine (6/5): - Nice quiet location. Service at breakfast was abysmal
.waited 50 mins to be fed. 4 other tables had similar experience
- Terry (6/5): - Continental breakfast not good. Pastries less croissants arrived 45 minutes late. Tea made with lukewarm water. Coffee out without a warm plate.
Shower difficult to adjust as fitted too close to the wall. Stairs difficult in places.
Used this hotel previously several times before without problem. What's gone wrong?
- Clive (8/5): Bowls finals - Very good hotel with plenty of parking.
No aircon unfortunately and we stayed during the very hot weather which made the room very very warm. But there was a fan provided which helped.
- Beena (10/5): - Great staff great bar
- Raymond (10/5): Stay over in Kenilworth - We were blown away by the charm and character of the hotel which is in the beautiful Kenilworth “ Old Town “.our room was comfortable and well equipped , tea , coffe , biscuits and a vice little bar of chocolate . Ample parking and a great choice of food . The restaurant is atmospheric and well laid out . Friendly , helpful staff who were personable and efficient .
- Verified traveler (2/5): Make sure you select the correct date! - I'd accidentally booked the wrong date, and within minutes of booking and realising, I contacted hotels.com to amend the booking to the following day. Hotels.com kept me fully informed and tried their best to change the date, or get a partial refund for this this but they reported that the property manager refused move the date without losing my original booking costs and rebooking and paying again. Should I have paid for the booking again, or taken my regular business elsewhere? Certainly the latter. Staying here on a number of occasions in the past, I've found the service great, the food is good (albeit very pub-chain quality) and rooms comfortable - but this recent experience has certainly left a sour taste and I won't be returning. There are dozens of other hotels around Kenilworth and Warwick that I've found are much more accommodating with regular travellers.
- LUKE (8/5): - Lovely hotel with friendly staff. The only two negatives are that the car park has limited parking and the spaces are quite tight - just be aware if you have a larger vehicle. The staff were great and the location is lovely.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay. Room was wonderful as was the food in the pub nextdoor. Breakfast was also great! Would definitely stay again.
- Paul (8/5): Nice weekend away. - Hotel and rooms very nice clean and comfortable. Had no remote for tv but was quickly sorted. Food nice but service not the best it came cold then took nearly 45 mins to come back and it wasn’t even busy.
- Sian (2/5): - HORRIFIC STAY! Lovely area, pub nice, basic family room but as expected for price, clean and comfortable. Unfortunately the hotel thought it was OK to put a family with a young son in a room directly next door to the neighbouring pubs HUGE beer garden!!! On a Friday night!! A full beer garden of people literally shouting and screaming directly outside our window until nearly 12pm!!! We couldn’t believe it!!! Disgraceful and entirely unacceptable. Nightmare with a child, took so long to settle him. Fuming and disappointed. Expecting some sort of compensation upon complaint. Do not stay in room 1!!
- Paul (8/5): - Checked in and went up to the room which hadn’t been cleaned…back to reception where we were left waiting awkwardly while they worked out if there was another room to put us in
- Verified traveler (8/5): Comfortable stay - Location was fine and easy to find. Onsite parking was limited, but luckily there’s a public parking area just 5–10 minutes’ walk away. The room was comfortable and the restaurant was nice, making it an overall pleasant stay.
- Alice (10/5): Comfy and cute - Lovely spot to stay in, we stayed when it was hot but the room was armed with fans! There’s also a night porter to let you in after hours so it feels safe.
- Terence (8/5): - Staff a little inexperienced and robotic. No chef at breakfast, so a reduced menu. Food mediocre, badly cooked. This area needs serious attention. Only 1 out of 10 specials available at dinner. Annex room #32 suitable for guests with a disability, bathroom enormous but very spartan, some guests might object, but we were only there for 1 night.
Hotel should provide a refund for not providing a cooked breakfast option. A sausage on dry bread doesn't cut it!
No milk in room.

- M (10/5): - Just a quick night away. Parking a bit of a challenge as the cars I parked between had been a bit greedy. Room spotless, bed comfy, the chocolate bar a lovely touch. Wine selection very good and food really excellent. Staff helpful-we couldn’t get our TV to work. It was promptly fixed
- Carol (6/5): Reasonable value for money - Nice hotel with okay rooms. Service in the bar was excellent.
- Chris (6/5): - Beautiful old buildings. Watch out for the stairs. Room very comfortable, staff friendly, however car park was hard to get out of.
- Anthony (8/5): Pleasant, comfortable stay with friendly staff - Clean, comfortable room, good food with generous portions, friendly and helpful staff.
- Robert (10/5): Trip to Kenilworth castle. - Very comfortable room, and great food in the restaurant. Free parking a bonus.
- Patty (6/5): - Pretty basic. Tired decor and facilities
Impersonal service and generally just ok
- Nasser (10/5): - Really friendly staff and lovely hotel, walking distance to Kenilworth Castle.
- Trevor (8/5): - .
- Janet (8/5): - Central location, great restaurant and bar and staff friendly
- Christine (8/5): - I enjoyed my stay at this hotel very much. As usual i found the mattress on the bed too hard and the duvet too heavy and hot. I always carry my own pillows and a spare throw so I was able to lay on the top on the duvet doubled over with my throw over the top which solved both problems. As this is the start of a season, might I suggest the sills between the secondary sliding windows and the opening windows be cleaned. It would give a better impression.
The restaurant food was delicious and the staff in the bar/restaurant very good. All in all a 4 star stay and good value.
- D (8/5): Good place to stay - Very nice hotel/pub to stay in with onsite parking. A very good choice for breakfast with good quality food
Comfortable bed, good working shower and nice quality bathroom products. Quiet place to stay.
WiFi not the best as it’s corporate and they want lots of your data!
- philippH7611WQ (10/5): Thank you - great stay - Thank you for a great stay. Two nights. Team were really helpful - you made it really relaxing before we competed at crufts and then you made our celebration drinks nice and restful thank you.
Hotel is comfy and just what we need.
Restaurant good well priced food and drinks
Plenty of room, nice atmosphere
- Mark (6/5): Nice pub grub with basic rooms. - The hotel was part of a pub on the main high street and as it was around 6pm the pub was busy, so there was nobody on duty at the reception desk, which was problematic when I was trying to find out where to park off the restricted high street. Eventually, I found some lovely staff to direct us to the hotel car park and check us in.
The rooms were basic yet comfortable and the bed was comfy with nice soft sheets. Unfortunately, the room was very hot during the night which hampered our sleep and it was over the dining room so we could hear the music playing from around 07:50. The shower wasn’t very good either and it was dangerously slippery in the bath.
Although there were a couple of negatives, it wasn’t a bad stay and we’d recommend the restaurant as the food was lovely for dinner and breakfast. The staff were also very friendly and helpful.
- Murat (8/5): OK to stay for business - It used to be the perfect place to stay in the region, but I see it starts to lose its service level. Waiting for osomeone to come to the reception for 20 minutes and it took another 20 mins to check us in...and we are regularly going there for business.
- martine (6/5): Not great.. - Room 28 overlooks the back and I was woken up at 6.30 with deliveries and loud talking. Room smelt very musty and I had to air it when I checked in. The booking wasn’t expensive but the place is beginning to look run down. Staff seemed helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great stay - The bed was very comfortable. The room was clean. The staff was kind. We had a great stay.
- Roy (8/5): - Decent room with instant hot water. Good breakfast with plenty of choice. Friendly staff.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Absolutely amazing, staff were brilliant, room was cozy, well equipped and comfortable. Food was amazing and theres ots to see and do around the area. Highly recommend.
- lindadC2634NR (10/5): Happy to return - Lovely stay. Dog friendly, easy walk to Abbey fields. Good breakfast, helpful staff. Clean and well presented.
We had room 31 which is situated at the back of the hotel, in the annex. Quiet location. Very convenient to the town and good parking.
Looking forward to a return visit.
- anthony (6/5): - Service on the restaurant was so slow, so slow in fact I cancelled my meal after 50 minutes and went elsewhere { not busy}
- Sarah (10/5): Super friendly - Really friendly staff and great menu in the restaurant. Rooms comfortable and clean.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Lovely stay - A lovely hotel, warm welcome, comfortable room, a tad noisy as it was on the ground floor with stairs close by, but a good nights sleep. Parking was right out side and free, the hotel was in a great location, the restaurant was brilliant, the food and service were out standing, would highly recommend.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very pretty, peaceful hotel in Kenilworth - A beautifully presented hotel. The staff were both helpful and friendly. Parking was at the rear of the property and there was access to the rear of the hotel. We had both dinner and breakfast at the property, both being excellent. Would definitely stay at Abbeyfield again.
- Kurt (8/5): - Breakfast is not what it used to be. Once upon a time, the breakfast option was an incentive to getting a room here.
Since the location became part of the Green King chain the standard has slipped to normal hotel fare.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We've stayed here repeatedly, and it is always good value for money, and convnient, but there have definitely been some cutbacks over the past few months—such as only two pillows on the bed instead of four, etc. Will probably stay again, but can definitely see where Greene King appears to be cutting a few corners before that made the experience more enjoyable.
- John (8/5): - Excellent staff Parking is limited.
- Mick (4/5): Avoid - The staff were great, the room was tiny and tropical way too hot to sleep even though the weather hasn’t been that warm. The in room tea & coffee were scant, one cup each and one packet of biscuits to share. The worst part was the breakfast, very very cheap ingredients very poorly cooked or cremated would be more accurate. Again the staff were great despite everything.
- Helen (10/5): - Helpful and friendly staff. Comfortable and clean room with fans provided as it was very warm. The staff at breakfast were lovely and were attentive and provided us with complimentary Buck’s Fizz as it was our anniversary.
- Nigel (10/5): Lovely place to stay in Kenilworth - Lovely place to stay in the middle of Kenilworth. Warm reception when arrived, but did not offer to help with bags up stairs to my room. Room was clean, freshly decorated and smelt fresh. All the amenities I expected and the en-suite bathroom was clean and modern. Shower worked well with hot water and in the room, there were a good selection of teas and coffee. I ate in the restaurant in the evening, and the menu was varied and food good. Would definitely stay again. Thank you for looking after me.
- Kate (8/5): - The Staff here are wonderful, Ryan was particularly lovely and friendly.
The restaurant is good food, if a little on the pricier side.
The room I stayed in was a little tired, but my main gripe was there was no way to secure the door properly from the inside of the room. The standard latch still allows a 10cm gap to open the door and this made for a light sleep!
- Jonathan (8/5): - Really handy for evening out in Kennilworth
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had a really nice chilled & relaxed stay
- Emma (10/5): Cute stay - Lovely people staff friendly nice rooms
- Ian (8/5): - Part of the building date form the 16th century. The staff were welcoming with a good choice in the restaurant and the food was good. As I was staying one night I deliberately booked a small room. It still had everything I needed and was comfortable. Great area for an evening walk as there is a park within a few minutes walk. A Good hotel
- Dharmendra (8/5): - Great stay
Just for one night
Decent room close to park
- Stephanie (10/5): Great clean room - Great hotel room spotless lots of hot water for show parking at the rear , breakfast hot food was great it did say there would be pastries , muffins and fresh fruit - no pastries or muffins and fresh fruit was and apple or pear !!
- Kate (10/5): - Beautiful well kept property, clean rooms, lovely restaurant and helpful staff
- David (8/5): - A comfortable quiet stay.
- Mrs Anne (10/5): - Lovely comfortable room.
Excellent friendly staff.
Will happily stay again in this fantastic hotel.
- Roy (8/5): - All good for what we paid. The only negative that stood out was that most of the upholstery on the seats in the bar and restaurant could go with upholstery cleaner. Staff were fine and breakfast was good. Good location in town
- John (8/5): - No indication when entering from car park where reception was located. Menus (breakfast)good but printing too small. Several cars on car park not (apparently) logged in which restricted guests parking.
- Anuraag (10/5): - Lovely stay. Thank you
- Andrea (8/5): - One night stay for a family wedding
- NWfootloose (6/5): Noisy room and crazy wait for breakfast let the hotel down - This was a lovely old hotel and the staff were all very friendly and helpful, but I don't think we were given a very good room (probably because we hadn't booked direct!) It was on a small narrow landing that everyone had to walk past and it overlooked the main road, so was consequently noisy. The bed was OK, but the pillows were much too big and firm. Slept very badly.
What really let the hotel down though was the crazy 50-minute wait for our standard cooked breakfast to arrive on the second morning. (35 minutes on the first morning). Everyone around us was waiting a similar length of time and they were equally annoyed by the long delays, the reasons for which weren't explained.
We would probably stay there again if we were in the area but would not want Room 6 and would want reassurance that the kitchen was properly staffed next time! I might take my own pillows too!
- Dave (10/5): - Great hotel and a fantastic area to spend an evening or two, all the pubs and restaurants are great
- Verified traveler (10/5): Cozy and Delightful - This was such a fun, cozy place to stay. Close to local historic sites and easy to use as "home base" for trips to the surrounding area. Staying here was as much a part of our travel experience as it was a place to rest our heads.
- Mr Christopher J (8/5): It’s ok convenient - It was ok, convenient
reception workers need to be trained to serve guests in order that they are waiting otherwise it becomes annoying
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Staff were friendly, room was clean and quite quiet, but it was much too warm despite the radiator not being on. The pillows were all too firm, so my wife used a cushion (provided) instead. Breakfast (paid for in addition to the room) was plentiful but it seemed as if only the egg was freshly cooked.
- George (10/5): - Great stay, what I was expecting
- c (8/5): Nothing amazing but pleasant enough - Comfy stay in a single bed. Quiet very cozy single room in an old building so noise is to be expected from other guests. Good en-suite facilities and hot shower. Breakfast was not included in the price. I felt the overall cost was high compared to similar hotels in the area that I have stayed in recently.
- sixhundred (8/5): It's your classic pub with rooms upstairs! - The location is decent, on the outskirts of Kenilworth. The centre is walkable, perhaps 15-20 minutes.
The pub has a small car park behind, people say it's hard to find, but not really, it's behind the pub!
My room was cosy (small) but was clean, the bed was comfortable (a double) and the bathroom did the job. The shower was powerful and warm.
There is no air-con but there is a portable fan. In a hot summer I can see it would be a challenge to keep cool.
My room overlooked the road outside but this is a quiet area so wasn't a problem.
Didn't eat here but the pub looked decent.
The receptionist was very helpful and never seemed to be off duty.
The floorboards were a bit noisy outside and inside the room. It's an old pub so have to make allowances. There wasn't too much noise in the night but I wouldn't stay more than 1 or 2 nights.
All in all, a decent choice of accomodation.
- D6932HDnormanw (8/5): Norman Winkler - I have been a regular customer at the Restaurant for the past five years and before with my wife. In general all the staff have always been friendly, helpful and efficient. However, I like to give Ricky a special mention as he will in several ways always go the extra mile.
- Lorraine (10/5): - The staff are very friendly and welcoming, my room was very clean and comfy. Perfect!!
- Dot (6/5): - Friendly good service, room a little cramped but adequate. Let down by food quality. Some inedible, other, basic food, poor.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Pleasant stay - The hotel was much bigger than we realised. It looks small from the road but goes back quite some way, theres 29 rooms in total. We booked a room at £69 for a Friday night which was an absolute bargain however we were given the first room on the ground floor (room 2) and the room itself was very spacious and pleasant but unfortunately we didnt sleep well due to the sound of the stairs which ran above our room and a water waste pipe gushing whenever a toilet in that area of the hotel was flushed. I guess this might be the bargain room for that reason. The hotel has a nice bar and there are other bars next door, its a very nice little location and free onsite parking was available though spaces were limited. Overall it was a great stay considering how very cheap it was for a Friday in August but the very noisy room at night let it down for us sadly. We'd stay again but in a different room.
- Trevor (8/5): - Good value place to stay. We had a room at the front which gets noise from the pub opposite, and you need to compromise between having the curtains open to allow air to circulate, and the light coming in from the facade lights. A first world problem really
- Andrea (8/5): Lovely Spot in Kenilworth. Will be back! - Great spot. Lovely room and the food in the restaurant/pub was delicious. Service was wonderful too. Only fault was the poor ventilation in the bathroom which made the room really very humid after showers.
- Tour46691228757 (10/5): Massive improvement with food - Love this pub now! Food was fantastic! So much better than the last visit after a terrible experience, they seem to have found what this place was lacking… someone to run the kitchen properly! Will be back again soon!
- M (10/5): Great, easy stay - Lovely, sizeable hotel room. Really clean throughout, easy check-in and check-out!
- Nicholas (10/5): - Nice hotel and friendly staff. The food in the hotel was very good.
- I5245PMkerryc (8/5): Great place to stay - Our room was lovely, clean & spacious. Very comfy bed and nice size bathroom. Dinner was great, good choice on the menu and good value for money. The staff were fantastic. Extremely friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay there again. Good location and free parking too.
- christW4739LP (10/5): Great stay, breakfast and dinner. - We stayed two nights and wished it had been more. The Abbyfield is full of character in a historic part of town. The pub part of the premises is very good, and the restaurant excellent. Had one evening meal and two breakfasts - could not find fault with anything. Very efficient and friendly staff from check in, to restaurant and bar staff. Room was spacious, very clean and tidy, and well appointed with everything you will need. As it was hot, we had the window open during the night. Apart from a few passing drunks in a group, you won't be disturbed by traffic or pedestrians.
Highly recommended (especially the salmon and egg for breakfast, and a pie for dinner!)
- Rebecca (8/5): Lovely pub with nice rooms - A lovely well situated pub with comfortable rooms above. Good food also and an excellent breakfast. Our only problem was the cold water pressure for our shower which I am sure will be rectified now that staff have been made aware. This is the 3rd time I have stayed here and I will definitely be returning soon. Nice and polite staff too.
- Brian (10/5): - I had a comfortable, quiet room in this pleasant hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the food in the attached restaurant was also good.
- StarTurn (10/5): Great spot, great choice - Stayed here in the old High Street for a special Birthday night. Absolute value for money and a big room for £65. We had room 2 which was downstairs at the front of the hotel, but had the bathroom by the road so no noise at all.
Spotlessly clean, comfortable king bed, plenty of space. The only slight downside was the noise from the quite creaky stairs which went above the room, but not really an issue.
Will definitely be staying here again as nice pubs and restaurants, park and the beautiful old town close by.
- c (10/5): Cannot wait to return - Excellent hotel, the Staff were superb nothing was to much trouble. Very friendly and professional. Evening Dinner was amazing, good choices and excellently cooked.
- John (6/5): - Food was ‘just’ OK - poached eggs hard boiled. for example. Parking not always available, bathroom somewhat ‘musty’ - probably to be expected in an old building
- Verified traveler (10/5): Our recent stay - A very nice, clean and friendly experience. Excellent on site breakfast and dinner option. We would definitely recommend this hotel to other guests and would love to return in the future.
- 433markc433 (6/5): Average room in a better hotel - I’ll begin with the positives because the place does have some which pulled them up to average. The room itself was very clean, we had room #2, but all the windows were fitted with obscured glass possibly because it was a ground floor room. It was a larger than average room with a very roomy en suite.
We had a very quiet stay once the pub itself closed which meant our sleep was very good. The bed was comfortable with a great quality duvet and bed linen.
The hotel had a good sized carpark that was located at the rear of the hotel which had roomy spaces for larger cars.
The negatives for this room however pulled it back to average. On arrival the room had been fragranced very strongly and we had to open windows to ventilate it. The en suite floor, although not wet, was very slippery and we put a towel down to prevent us slipping during night visits. The tv regularly lost signal when in use and unfortunately our room appeared to be adjacent to the waste pipe for either the pub toilets or the other rooms because we were disturbed by the noise of rushing water whenever somebody flushed the toilet.
- Nicholas (10/5): - Well appointed. Good atmosphere - central and accessible. Enjoyed the brief stay. Would return.
- Marion (8/5): One night stay - Smooth check in. Room reasonable with good quality toiletries. Let down by large cobwebs on beams and insufficient heating. Despite turning the radiator up to its highest setting, it only reached luke warm. Good choice at breakfast, but poor coffee and slow and haphazard service.
- Diana (10/5): A great place to stay - The service provided by the staff is very warm and welcoming. The hotel is very quiet and the beds are so comfortable. Food is excellent.
- carolannh777 (10/5): A relaxing break - We had a lovey two night stay at Abbeyfields at the beginning of November.
Our room was quaint warm and very comfortable. The staff were pleasant and very helpful,
The breakfast was amazing and very fresh . Our evening meal was plentiful and of a big portion.
The only downside was the signal for the tv . We would start watching it and after 10 minutes have no reception.
This didn’t marr our stay .
We will however be sure to book this
Hotel next time we are in Warwickshire.
- Thomas (8/5): - O
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Been a Patron of the Hotel i was dissappointed that there was nowhere to get a drink after 11pm, considering there was Staff working 24/7 , the excuse was Warwickshire District Council Rules. This needs to be addressed !
- Christoph (10/5): Good place to stay - Friendly staff, beautiful pub
- Sonia (8/5): I would definitely return - Really lovely bar/restaurant with rooms upstairs. It is beautifully clean but the rooms are extremely small. The food was delicious with lovely service from both the restaurant and bar staff.
- Mark (4/5): Not 4* - IMO not 4* and I question the strong reviews. A fine pub room with easy access to pub and restaurant. But really tired, cramped, poorly ventilated and noisy. If i had not been swayed by the 4* rating and strong guest reviews, I would have chosen something else. Having stayed there now, I will chose something else next time.
- Rita (2/5): - It was a sleepless night as the room is far too small and hot - unfortunately I have been given the single room with tiny window and no view at all, really awful night
