- Cyril (5/5): Below average service . Better found other place - The localization is nice . Old building very handsome Staff or boss are not nice .
Entrance door always close by key . You can’t enter or leave easily. Breakfast shame : received message via booking saying no buffet okay fot that . They said continental or Indian breakfast. Then the morinibg they said only Indian ând it was so super spicy we can’t eat. And they come knock tbe door at 8:30 for wake up us ând said breakfast ready ând serve 8:30. How come ?
Old building need renovation .
We came back late 10pm ând all door and wooden door was close . We need knock door ând ring barely 5min.
- Claire (10/5): Great location - We stayed here twice and loved its location. It has plenty of character and is a good place from which to explore Kochi.
- Ruchi (6/5): The restaurant is not operational, barring that its a lovely place. - The property is old, heritage in some sense and lovely. The staff is prompt with replies. Which was nice. When we go through reviews, read past reviews and photos it builds a certain story and image of the space. The fact that they do not have a restaurant was a pity. Because it makes a lovely small Courtyard a pretty dead space, which is hardly used. The staff did not bother informing us about this, until we reached the properties and made inquiries for a meal. And honestly evening Booking.com does not check it seems on current updates, new updated menu's, facilities that have been taken off the list of a hotel / homestay etc. The price we paid without the breakfast being included was a decent amount. And I was not worried about creaky floor, or old plumbing, that is part of the experience when the place has history. But I do appreciate information being volunteered to me, especially since I am going by older photos, reviews and messages.
- Deb (9/5): Good - All N/a
The beach was filthy. Pollution everywhere.
- Christine (10/5): -
- Dahlia (10/5): Just wonderful - Really I liked everything (and I am usually a very critical consumer). The staff were completely kind, efficient, and pleasant. The room was clean and had all amenities - A/C, wifi, coffee/tea, a very nice size, lots of character - even extra blankets/pillows and a hair dryer, two things I always want at hotels. The breakfast was wonderful, with beautiful fresh fruit and juices, terrific omelettes and served in a lovely patio. The pool is small, warm & charming. The location is ideal for tourists - very close to the port, but more easygoing for tourists, close to cafes, shops, art galleries. Especially nice: we had emergency changes due to the Middle East war and the staff went out of their way to accommodate. The cost is totally reasonable & excellent value for money. It would be nice if the king bed was made up with king-sized sheets covering the space between two smaller beds, but this is really tiny. The wifi was a bit unstable & there were a few power outages but this was a problem of the whole neighborhood, not the hotel - and the staff was able to restore power with a generator quickly. Frankly there are no reservations at all.
- Erica (7/5): - The location is very good, the staff seemed very nice and the place was clean. They had problems with their sewage system and were digging up the garden to solve it; because of all this we were put into two different rooms for our two-night stay. The second, 'regular' room was really not big enough for two people. There was some confusion as to the availability of breakfast.
The hotel sewerage system apparently can't cope with toilet paper – I would suggest that the signs in the rooms need to flag this instead of 'paper towels'…
- Sorin Daniel (10/5): - This is an absolutely lovely hotel, perfectly located, charming historic building and very nice rooms. The staff are efficient, friendly, helpful. The rooms are spacious, clean, have character, and all amenities, from AC, to coffee and even a hair dryer. Generous breakfast, and there's a tiny but charming pool. Excellenr value for money and our highest recommendation.

- Susan (7/5): - Great location.
- Frederique (10/5): - Location is perfect, breakfast offered was original and very good (it is not a buffet, but that is a nice change !), and property is lovely, with a beautiful renovation and a nice plunge
- Arnika (4/5): -

- Jorge (9/5): Great place in Kochi - Fantastic place to stay in Kochi. Great location, comfortable room, helpful staff, and nice hotel. Nothing to complain about.
- josiane (6/5): - Très bien mais petites tables La réception
- preetha (8/5): A lovely stay in the heart of Fort Kochi on Princess St - Beautiful property with cosy rooms . I have stayed here a few times and it is centrally located and I like the rooms I have stayed in. Comfortable and clean
- Ravindra (6/5): The tariff was very high compared to the facilities. - The staff was very courteous and helpful.
The room was spacious, airy ans well lit.
Breakfast had no variety and not commensurate with the price of the room.
Only white bread was being served, no cereal was on offer.
Coffee was very ordinary. It should be indicated that the hotel has no lift and one has to climb and down the steps.
- kathleen (7/5): Excellent location but could be a little more helpful. - The location is excellent. The room was OK. I liked the quirkiness. Did not like having to pay 2 weeks in advance policy. Receptionist was a little rude about it. Courtyard area was a little shabby.
- Deepika (7/5): - Breakfast was limited. Location is excellent. The room (Standard Double Room) is small but totally functional. Would have been nice to have had hanging space in the cupboard. The staff is very polite and ready to assist.
- Niki (9/5): - Beautiful building and rooms - great location . I think you could have breakfast but we didn’t- don’t think drinks were available at all but v close to restaurant/ cafes.
- Pratibha (8/5): We had a great time - The breakfast was nice We got what we expected
- Zameera (6/5): -
- Renate (10/5): -
- Shaktirupa (7/5): -
- Baron Philip (9/5): A lovely hotel with character - A lovely old building, a lovely welcome.
- Anne (8/5): New Year in Fort Kochin - The historic atmosphere of the hotel - it has been beautifully restored. A great location within walking distance to everything in Fort Kochin. Clean and comfortable room. The breakfast could have been more imaginative and varied.
The value for money compared to other hotels in the area - it was a little expensive.
- Lucinda (6/5): Overpriced underwhelming hotel with a grea location - Excellent location on the best street in the area. Very pretty room. The bed was rock hard and the walls were paper thin. Felt like the man staying in the next room was in my room.
- Chiyoat (7/5): - Beautiful and rustic charm
- Andrew (10/5): Ideal location heritage hotel - Beautiful heritage hotel. Great spacious rooms with antique furniture. Good small pool and outdoor area. Excellent location.
- Susan (9/5): Tranquil old hotel in excellent location - A tranquil and beautifully restored building in Fort Kochi’s best street. Very central location for all amenities. Bed superbly comfortable and room spotlessly clean with soft sheets and towels. Plunge pool & quiet courtyard welcome after sightseeing. Staff very helpful & friendly. Include information about breakfast in the information folder in bedrooms explaining choices, times & location. Because it’s sensitively restored, sound insulation between rooms & floors is poor.
- Alex (10/5): - Location is Amazing, Everyone was So helpful and Nice ! Lovely place to stay!
- lockwood (8/5): good place to begin a trip and adjust to Kochi but expect European prices in Fort Kochi not 'Indian' - Hot water and bathroom facilities were good
The room was lovely but noisy from the street tut-tuts and motorbikes
Other guests' air conditioning is on all night and is very noisy
very helpful staff noiuse reduction
- John (7/5): Could be great with some TLC but…… - Aesthetically very pleasing. An old, characterful property with a history. Antique furniture and a very attractive courtyard with an adequate pool. The staff were lovely. Excellent location. For nearly £100 per night one would not expect the soundproofing to be nonexistent. We could hear every word of conversation from the next room and when they used the toilet. The bathroom was tired and the electrics were archaic. The overall impression was that the management are resting on their laurels. It could be a magnificent stay but needs extensive updating without necessarily detracting from the historical features,
Nulla in particolare
- Doris (10/5): -
- Miho (10/5): - Authentic but casual atmosphere of old hotel
Beautiful room. Smell of pellow
- Sam (7/5): Good location but could be a better hotel - The hotel is well located with in Fort Kochi and access to the pool was appreciated during the December heat the property looks a little tired in some places and staff were not always helpful. We were also quite disappointed when we asked for help with a taxi and they tried to charge us 3x what we were quoted elsewhere
- patrizia (8/5): -
- Helene (10/5): -
- linda (9/5): A charming, well-maintained heritage hotel with helpful & friendly staff, in an exceptional location - Everything about this hotel was lovely. It was in a perfect central location for Fort Kochi, it was quiet, the beds were comfortable, and all the staff were friendly, helpful and polite. The hotel itself is utterly charming - a lovely old building rescued by a sympathetic renovation that retains the feel of the original building with its wide wooden floorboards and colonial furniture. We loved the fresh fruit, juices and Indian breakfasts. Filtered water was available at any time. Air conditioning worked well but you could turn it off if you wished to. If you need a modern 5-star hotel this is not for you (there are no lifts to upper floors), but we would choose this hotel over one of those in a flash.
- Tamzin (10/5): All in all a great stay and I thoroughly recommend booking your stay in Kochi at the Old Courtyard Hotel. - A great hotel in the heart of Fort Kochi on Princess Street. We had two lovely rooms on the 2nd floor with a shared balcony overlooking the garden courtyard to sit and relax after exploring the town. The rooms were really comfortable & clean with some lovely antique furniture. A kettle, tea/coffee & filter water are all supplied.
The staff are all really nice & super helpful in organising taxis/guides/etc.
All in all a great stay and I thoroughly recommend booking your stay in Kochi at the Old Courtyard Hotel.
- Shikha (8/5): NA - The ambience was really nice I felt the room was a bit small
- Arne Öberg (8/5): - Close to the sea. Nothing particularly.
- Miho (9/5): Amazing! - Good location, beautiful old house and furnitures, kind staff. None.
- Nandita21 (8/5): - Lovely old style house turned hotel. It's small scale, with a few rooms on two floors. There is a small central yard with a jacuzzi pool. It's great when there's fewer people staying at a time. The room was spacious with beautiful antique furniture, and the bathroom is done up well. The toiletries are provided in nice steel containers and include Biotique products. Filtered water available. One use plastics could be further reduced. While the location is good, it's right on one of the most popular streets, so there is a lot of activity around. We stayed between Christmas and New Year's and there was a lot of noise from the roads - unfortunately not possible for us to sleep without ear plugs. (It's not the hotel's fault people ride motorbikes and honking through the night).. just be aware of that. Also, the soundproofing between rooms is poor, so there is lack of privacy.
There is no restaurant or bar on site; limited things to do within the hotel itself.
- Caroline (9/5): Great - The location , the lovely building with wooden floors and big beds The walls were very thin so we heard our very loud neighbours chatting and shouting into the early hours. Good thing I didn’t understand their language or I might have gone mad.
- Paul (10/5): A really lovely place to stay - well looked after and can’t ask more than that - Quaint and old world charm - stepping back to another era - wonderful team who were helpful and very warm and welcoming! Nothing
- Philippe (10/5): We will stay there if and when we return to Koxhi - we live in Geneva - Located on Priness Street, one of the prettiest in Fort Kochi. No hassle there
The Hiney moon suite is absolutely marvelous
Breakfast was absolely outstanding Nothing
Wonderful staff
Nallima was extremely helpful,, kind and professional
- Rohit (7/5): Great location! - Location 1. Steep stairs to the room
2. Could hear neighbouring room conversations and flushing sounds.
Centralissimo. Personale gentilissimo Manca servizio in camera.
- linda (10/5): I love this hotel, steeped in history and atmosphere, with staff who are warm and welcoming. - I loved my stay. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The historical building had atmosphere and charm , while being suitable for a contemporary traveller. Although located in the heart of busy Princess street, the hotel itself was quiet and peaceful, offering a courtyard garden and pool, with the home cooked breakfast (either Indian or Continental) served out of doors. The Laundry service for clothes was excellent and affordable, while rooms are serviced each day if required. The air conditioning and electric fans offered welcome relief from Kochi's humidity and heat.
- Margherita (9/5): - Quiet oasis in the middle of a lovely shopping street in Fort Kochi. The pool was very nice as well as the room we got. We did not try the breakfast, but really enjoyed our stay.
- Sue (10/5): Fabulous - Location , pool , antique furniture , lovely professional staff Very steep steps
- Uliana (10/5): -
- Katsushi (8/5): Really good location. Those want to feel buzz of fort Kochi, it is the one to choose. - It is a small old hotel in the middle of Fort Kochi. All rooms face the courtyard with a small swimming pool. Verandah is a good place to sit and spend time in the afternoon, when it is too hot to move around. Rooms are nice and comfortable size. For me, it was not an issue, but steep stairs may be difficult for a senior person. It was not really a problem during my stay, but noise from the other room could be an issue if they are playing music or talking loudly.
- Donna (10/5): -
- P (10/5): -
- Wim (7/5): -
- Phyllis (5/5): Good location but our stay was let down by the very small room with seating for only one person. - Central location. Great bathroom with powerful shower, The standard room we were in was room 8 on the ground floor. It had a double bed, writing desk with chair, one bedside table, a wardrobe, a luggage rack and a table for kettle and cups. It was very cramped for 2 people. The ‘swimming pool’ is a plunge pool, unsuitable for swimming.
- Robert (9/5): -
- Antriksh (5/5): - Well located lovely staff the only problem is the price is too steep for its offerings
- Andrew (10/5): Great character property - Lovely old heritage property, in a great location in the heart of Fort Kochi. Friendly and helpful staff.. Nothing to dislike
- Sherry (7/5): Good hotel for the money - It’s was a good location and whimsical atmosphere Wifi was poor
- Srividya (8/5): -
- sharon (7/5): A comfortable stay in Centre of town in a historical hotel. We were hoping for a four poster bed but the room we had was - Historical and central Nothing
- Timothy (9/5): Comfortable quiet central hotel - Loved the location and facilities air on fantastic and shower and bathroom great size hot water and strong flow.
Really quiet location and located walking distance to everything. Staff so so helpful and friendly. They also sorted taxi to and from airport and can book tours if needed. Has no evening meal but loads of places around so not an issue.
Room a little small but bathroom made up for it.
- Carsten Kjaergaard (9/5): -
- Taumberger (10/5): -
- Laura (8/5): Perfect location - The perfect location! Beautiful rooms and swimming pool. Laundry costed us nearly €30 for just a few KG. Price was insane and we got it back still wet. Offered us a €5 refund but then still this is an insane amount.
- Julian (10/5): - Nice charming hotel in a great location
- Abdul Cassim (7/5): - The ambiance is quite nice. I liked the look and feel. The staff were extremely friendly. The place is made of wood and I stayed on the second floor, it creaked a lot and kept my friends awake whenever I walked. Didnt get an electric mosquito repllent like other places I stayed at, so the mosquitos kept we up, its kind of my fault for not asking or buying one, but defn worth mentioning incase you arent prepared.
- Bernadette (10/5): - Of all the hotels we stayed in during our month in Southern India the Old Courtyard was our favourite. It's a beautiful old building right in the heart of Fort Kochi but so quiet and peaceful. The staff were lovely and so helpful. The pool and garden were a real bonus. Nothing.
- Christian (8/5): - Fabulous location, a very historic building and lovely and quiet. It has an ancient charm about it, and they have not taken that away with their refurbishment.
- Susan (10/5): A hidden gem - Very quiet, welcoming and calm amongst the bustle of the area around. A wonderfully historic building with attention to detail and care to reduce plastics. Nothing I didn't like!
- Leon (8/5): -
- Dee (10/5): We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely old property. - Excellent location, friendly staff, comfortable and characterful. Nothing
- Kath (10/5): - Friendly helpful staff and a beautifully restored property.
- Anan (5/5): Nice historical building and good location. Facilities was comparable to a 2 to 3 star hotel. Staff tried to help as muc - Good location and clean Renovation works going on and painters tried to enter our room without permission. One opened our door without knocking. On the second day, there was power cuts during the day time and we were unable to charged our devices. Pro tip: Bring a portable charger.
- Kenneth (4/5): -
- Linda (9/5): lovely friendly staff greeted us . for a one night stay location couldn’t be better as it is located in middle of villag - location , in middle of shops and restaurants and few minutes to the Chinese nets
- Joncy (6/5): Bad - Property is located stretegically and is in a very nice neighbourhood. It was clean and well maintained The manager sort of ruined our stay. First of a being an Indian, she was openly showcasing different dispositioning towards foreigners compared to Indians. She was very nice to all foreginers. But with Indians she maintained a glum face. Nail in the coffin was she never informed us of check out time, saw us have breakfast and still did not bother to inform us about check out time. Then she knocks at my door and suddenly warns me I won't allow you for more than 15 more mins. Then you have to vacate. This is when she was clearly seeing I am yet to get ready. We fell down, tripped, broke fingernails all because of her. And when we go out, we see they have no guests waiting as stated by her so she was lying on our face. Horrible woman. She also told me complain to whoever you want to
- Stephen (9/5): Very central to everything - Had an awesome shower An unusual smell in the room
- Maria (7/5): -
- Shannon (10/5): Convenient comfort - Beautiful building and central location in the Fort Kochi area I wish I had seen more about the history of the building! It’s beautiful and I would have liked to learn more.
- Devika (9/5): Wonderful family stay! - We had an excellent stay at the Old Courtyard Hotel. The staff were warm and welcoming, making us feel instantly at home. The old-worldly air of this beautifully restored property added a whole new dimension to our exploration of Fort Kochi and beyond.
- Joboy (10/5): Would recommendthe stay to couples who look for peaceful getways in Fort Kochi. - We loved the vintage interiors, the cleanliness, the welcoming staff and the elegant pool experience. The location of the stay is also very desirable.
- Thommen (9/5): Great! - Very good overall No restaurant
