• Denis (10/5): An excellent place to discover Fener and Balat - We enjoyed our stay at the Troya Hotel in Balat, and strongly recommend it. The hotel is an old building, more than 100 years old, and the bedroom is a little gem. We had never seen such old electric switches, and the art deco chandelier was a gem! The staircase is a bit steep and narrow if you have heavy luggage to carry to the top floors but the staff is helpful. The graffiti decoration in the restaurant is a bit odd in the context of the hotel :) Access is very convenient, on the Golden Horn and close to a tram stop.
• Rafael (4/5): - PRÓS: a região é muito boa, perto de estação de tram e de ferryboat; CONTRAS: não possui elevador e a escada é tipo caracol. Ficamos no terceiro andar e tivemos que subir com 4 malas os diversos lances de escada. Portanto, caso tenha alguma dificuldade de locomoção, fique atento; o banheiro estava com um cheiro de esgoto insuportável (que, pelo jeito, é de todo o estabelecimento, pois o banheiro do restaurante tinha o mesmo cheiro), que chegava a ser sentido no quarto todo; o ar condicionado é extremamente fraco, não dando a menor vazão; os travesseiros são ruins; o café da manhã é pouco variado e as coisas não são tão boas como os demais cafés que tomamos na Turquia; a parte do chuveiro é muito escura e o chuveiro em si é de difícil regulagem.

• Jacob (10/5): Vidunderlige Troja. - Troja Balat Hotel kan beskrives med et ord: Atmosfære! Det charmerende lille hotel, med udsigt til det gyldne horn, er stilfuldt og rart. I restauranten spiser par, fødselsdags selskab og en gruppe præster i et hyggeligt fællesskab med plads til alle.

• Jacob C (8/5): - Great value for money. It's a popular dining spot so it does get noisy but I loved the old room, cleanliness of the place, excellent friendly staff.
• Julie (10/5): - The staff at the Troya Hotel Balat were kind and welcoming. I had a third floor sea view room with a great view. Bed was comfortable and room was quiet. Lovely little neighborhood walking distance to shops, dining, the colored balat homes, a park along the water and Fatih Mosque.

Service was good and staff was helpful, but if you have big suitcases then its a big struggle to go to 3 rd floor on stairs. Breakfast was super tasty and good variety. Views of the bosphorus are great from 3rd floor rooms.
• Chelsee (10/5): - What a beautiful hotel. It's old and feels like stepping back into time. And waking up to the view of the water every day was wonderful. It was so convenient to walk to the restaurants and shopping of Balat and I loved that it was across the street from a tram stop! It made it sooooo convenient with my daily trips to the other side of the straight. The staff spoke great English and buffet turkish breakfast was served every morning til 10:00. I would definitely stay here again!
• Lea (10/5): Historical Hotel in Balat, good restaurant - It was a good choice of hotel in the Balat, where I was able to explore the neighborhood. The manager was able to get me a room with a balcony and a view of the Bosphorus, which was what I requested even when it wasn’t available in the app. The Greek restaurant downstairs was excellent, it was always busy for lunch and dinner. The free breakfast was sufficient.

• ESTEPHEN (10/5): - Very clean Facility. The staff was wonderful. I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. Except that the cleaner didn’t change my bed sheets every day. Maybe the cleaner was overwhelmed by her workload and she forgot to change the sheets for 3 days. She did make the bed but the sheets remained the same.
• Matthew (10/5): - The hotel is clean and quaint, with a delicious breakfast buffet and a nice restaurant. It is in a great location to walk around in the historic UNESCO area of Fener and Balat. Our room was small, but had a lovely view of the golden horn. The pillows were great too!

• Stephen (10/5): - Sadly we were just there one night and had to leave before breakfast. But we wanted to visit that area, and found a fantastic restaurant just two doors away. Evelik. One of the best we've been to. The golden horn waterway is right across the street for a great walk and views. Transit station also very near. We would definitely consider returning for a longer visit.

• Vibeke Inger (10/5): Two nights in Istanbul. - Room was on 3rd floor with no lift. Also it was so small, that it was difficult to squeeze onto the balcony. But there WAS a balcony with a fantastic view, a kettle and coffee, warm water, A/C, nice people and very clean. And a tram and a ferry practically at the doorstep. Nice, colourful (litterally) neighbourhood too.And not expensive.

Alle de ansatte er altid søde, hjælpsomme og oprigtigt opmærksomme. Det er tredje gang vi er gæster på TROYA hotel og vi tager altid afsted med en glæde til at komme tilbage.

• Jacob (10/5): Istanbuls hjemlige perle. - Troya hotel Balat lever op til betegnelsen special class! Stedet har charme og er smagfuldt indrettet, med opmærksomhed på detaljerne. Det er et helt unikt hotel i Istanbuls mest behagelige område. Hotellets personale er smilende, imødekomne og gør alt hvad de kan for at gøre deres gæsters ophold så behageligt som muligt. I stueetagen ligger en lille græsk inspireret resturant, hvor kvaliteten overgår selv det 5 stjernede køkken i Pera Palace. Troya giver mulighed for at opleve Istanbul og trække sig tilbage til rolige og hjemmelige omgivelser, når man trænger til et hvil i den energiske storby. Vi har nu boet på hotellet 2 gange og vi kommer tilbage, til det vi betragter som vores hjem i Istanbul. Gør dig selv den tjeneste at opleve det, du vil ikke fortryde det!

• Valérie (4/5): Dommage, vraiment trop bruyant - Super quartier, accueil très serviable, nous avions pris la suite avec balcon, assez grande chambre, déco vintage sympa mais vraiment très très bruyant (on dort au bord d une route très passante, klaxons, musique,...et les fenêtres ne réduisent pas le bruit !), et la salle de bain est minuscule sans rangements. C'est dommage car super hôtel avec super petit déjeuner mais vraiment trop bruyant !
• John (4/5): - Period property, so has character but next to busy noisey road. We didn't go, but restaurant downstairs busy both nights we stayed, so seems popular. You can hear everything in the room we had from the restaurant, (even someone snoring above us, which we found amusing) but worst thing was the smell of cigarette smoke drifting in. Luckily it ended around midnight, so not too bad. Would say the hotel is good if you're not planning on staying in the room too long and are out enjoying the neighborhood.

Direkter Metroanschluss besteht nicht, aber Straßenbahnanschluss vor dem Hotel mit Umsteigemöglichkeit zu üblichen Sehenswürdigkeiten. Darüber hinaus Fährenanschluss zur asiatischen Seite von Istanbul. Hoteleingang ist hinter dem Gebäude. Nach rechts abgebogen sind die Sehenswürdigkeiten. Sehr schön restauriertes Haus, sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet.

Bina ahşap oldugu icin alt katta restoranda sarki söyleyen, muhabbet eden müşterilerin sesleri oldugu gibi üst kattaki odalara gelmektedir. Gece uykuya dalmada sorun yasayabilirsiniz. Tam anlamıyla bir balık restorani degildir. Bazı balık turleri menüde yok. Su istediğinizde her nekadar damitilmis ta olsa cesme suyu verilmektedir. Geceligi 600TL ye kaldık, ancak bu fiyata Istanbul da çok daha konforlu otellerde kalabilirsiniz. Mobilyalar eski oldugu icin çok konforlu oldugu söylenemez. Mevki olarak Fener-Balat semtinde. Calisanlari guleryuzlu ancak bu size konfor sağlamıyor, maalesef!

• IstanbulLover (8/5): - I stayed there for 5 nights. Pros: Restaurant was amazing, especially breakfast. Very clean, well organized rooms, facility. Nice, friendly staffs, very helpful with providing good information for visits, transportation. Very cozy room Clean, and very comfortable. Amazing service, good response to my requests. Nice views from the balcony. Cons; There is no elevator, so you need to climb up the steep stairs to the 3rd floor.(It is hard after you had some glasses of wine) Shower water leaks from the glass door. They tried to fix it, but it did not work till the end eventually.( I know they worked hard on this) Some communication problems with staffs for the night shift. The hotel is located in between two bus stops so it may be a little pain till you get used to taking buses there. Over all, it was quite nice for the price I paid. I personally love the small hotel with at home atmosphere than new big hotels. I would love to come back when I have a chance to visit Istanbul again. Thank you for your warm hospitality.

• Paul (10/5): Little Gem on the Golden Horn - Completely wonderful family run small hotel in a fascinating district, 10 minutes from Galata Bridge. Vintage building, elegant small rooms, winding staircase. Friendly, perfect English spoken, they will help you with anything. Breakfast is superb, with lots of home-made delicacies. Evening restaurant has good tapas and cold beer.

• Norris (10/5): - What a wonderful hotel! It is an old Greek house that has been converted into a hotel. My room was facing the Golden Horn. The room was small but clean and comfortable. The only minor issue was that it was facing the main road. While most of the time I could not hear the traffic, the occasional truck driver blasting his horn broke the silence. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was very good with lots of options. I especially enjoyed breakfast, which was a buffet style Turkish breakfast. Very enjoyable. My only regret was not staying longer!
• Armita (10/5): Amazing Hotel to Stay - The hotel staff are very friendly and amazing. My friend and I arrived Istanbul at 7am. Our check in was at 2pm and we were so tired. I called to hotel to see if we could check in early. They said that the room is ready and we can check in. We got to hotel around 8am. They let us check in without charging us any additional fee. That was very nice of them. In addition, I had a conflict with Expedia, I added a third person to our room a week before our travel, but when we got to the hotel, they did not know about the third person. I was very tired and frustrated because I did not know I had to pay extra. Hotel staff charged us with a low rate to add the third person. They were very helpful and friendly the whole time. Our room had everything we needed even a swing kit. I highly recommend you to try the hotel restaurant. The food is amazing and the price is great. I'll book this hotel again if I travel Istanbul again.
