Guest Reviews
- Tarak (8/5): Mary is a great host and very kind and helpful. - Close but not too close to the major tourist areas. Little overgrown plants as you walk to your room. But I can see others loving it at the same time.
- Simon (8/5): Lovely Green Garden - Compact room with everything we needed. Although it had a balcony, we didn't use it.
Friendly hosts and it was lovely to chat with fellow guests over breakfast.
Peaceful location only a 10 minute walk into the centre of Kochin. There were always tuktuks waiting at the end of the road if we didn't want to walk.
Our host arranged an excellent day trip to the backwaters, and to see a Kathakali performance. He was also very helpful in suggesting other local places to visit.
We arrived way too early after an overnight train (sorry!). Our hosts kindly let us leave our bags with them until the room was ready. We were requested not to leave the AC on when we were not in the room, so we didn't, but this meant that the room was very warm when we returned to it.
Not the fault of Heavenly Homestay, but there were frequent power cuts.
- Eleanor (10/5): -
- Gloria (9/5): - the owners were very helpful
within walking distance to most things
- TravelKatha (9/5): -
- Harald (10/5): Very cosy Homestay with outstanding hospitality - A very cosy homestay. Thks to Patrick & Marie Some small repairs should be done: the lower window sealing between shower and sleepingroom is leaking.
- dayalini (4/5): - Pas grand chose Le personnel...ils attendaient juste l'argent.
- Catherine (10/5): Adresse à garder et à partager - The house is surrounded by végétation
Patrick and his wife are charming hosts.
Breakfast delicious
Super easy to go to the Biennale
Little homestay with 4 rooms
Kettle and tea bags Tout était parfait
- Tor (10/5): Trevligt boende i Fort Kochi med hjälpsam och trevlig värd - Trevligt rum, bra läge, trevlig värd Jobbigt lås till dörren
- Fotios (10/5): - Great location, clean and quiet, beautiful ambience and delicious breakfast 🙏
- Tom (9/5): - Very clean, comfortable, great value
- Leeni (9/5): A green oasis, with a delicious and plentiful breakfast - The surrounding garden and the plentiful greenery everywhere was beautiful and felt refreshing. The breakfast was delicious and ample! The WiFi connection was good we had two comfortable chairs, an AC and two fans in the room. There were also reading lights on each side of the bed that we appreciated. Instead of separate beds that we thought we booked, our room had a double bed. Although there was a fridge in the room we couldn’t use it as it hadn’t been cleaned for some while.
- Judith & Sybe (9/5): Een mooi stukje groene oase, fijne homestay in fort Cochin!
Erg fijne plek. Er was niets alles was prima.

- Mrs (5/5): Stay was good. Homestay location is good proximity to Cochin fort but located in narrow lane. Overall peaceful stay. T - The owner Patrick is a hard working person. Ensures to keep d place clean. Serves good wholesome breakfast . The room was a bit small in size for 2 persons, but d bed was comfortable.
It would hv been better if proper Bags rack/cupboard was available.
- Varsha (8/5): Nice, affordable stay - A simple, clean room that was perfect for our short stay. Patrick and Mary were friendly and helpful, and prepared us a fresh, homely breakfast each morning. Loved all the plants. Convenient location. The bathroom is pretty small and lacks privacy, but it was manageable.
- Rosenberg (7/5): Perfect location - Great location and comfortable, clean room. Lovely hosts. Breakfast was adequate and tasty but not as good as other homestays in Kerela. It would have been nice to have tea made and fresh juice for breakfast.
- Donko (5/5): It’s okay. - Comfortable room. AC available. WiFi available. Not so easy to find
Breakfast could have some variety
Steep steps to climb
Bathroom doesn’t have privacy
No TV
- Sivakumar (5/5): Property is in need of refurbishment - Mary's breakfast was excellent.
Location of the place is also excellent .... 10 minutes walk away to the Water Metro and Fort Kochi
Patrick and Mary's hospitality and knowledge of the area was great. The property/ room is in serious need of an upgrade/ renovation or refurbishment. The floor was clean but the fans were dusty and dirty. The fridge was in a terrible state and dirty. The towels provided were very worn out and thin. The whole property seems to be in need of some care and good housekeeping (including the plants). WIFI was weak.
- Mirjam (8/5): Great value for money! - Patrick was a great host! We really enjoyed all the green around the house
- Abi (10/5): Exceptional - Good environment, love the plants and friendly host, Patrick
- Aimee (8/5): Very good - Location is fantastic, 10-15 min walk to local bars/ restaurants. Breakfast is great. Patrick and Mary are very friendly and were able to book attractions if required. Mary and Patrick cook an amazing breakfast. Nothing
- Lynn (7/5): Pleasant, safe environment - All was ok. The hosts are an Indian Christian couple. Breakfast was more or less the same each day. Nice freshly cooked omlette, but no real option and nothing particularly local. It was quite definately a homestay - it was unusual to stay in a real home. It was a little cluttered, messy and quirky and the lack of professionalism was both charming and somewhat unexpected. The location was in a quite quiet residential area, just a bit further from the areas of tourist interest than expected, but still quite walkable. Google maps can help you avoid the main, unattractive road. My (single and cheapest) room was on the ground floor, right by the front door. The walls were thin and I could hear other guests talking outside and having early breakfasts in the room next door. There was nowhere for me to sit in the garden
- J (7/5): sadly cannot recommend as things stand, though could easily be improved - - on arrival lush and beautiful plants make it look heavenly
- very comfy bed
- nice omelette for breakfast on 2nd day
- nice location not far from sea and hub of Fort Kochi - room not ready so waited an hour and a half though had messaged our arrival time which was after the stated check in
- stack of urinal blocks left in drains in shower and loo. So strong smelling, even in the bedroom, I couldn't sleep and we both had headaches. I looked up the chemical composition and they contain 2 highly carcinogenic ingredients which are hazardous to breathing, especially at this concentration and in a sleeping area.. Even after I removed all but one of them in each drain (in case they were there to prevent other nasties) the bedroom still stank of them. I have just unpacked my luggage at home and everything in my bag, even my water bottle, smells strongly of a men's public toilet.
- the blind in the shower was broken and very dirty.
- the owners do not really seem very happy to host homestay guests
I do not like giving negative reviews and maybe there is a reason, but I cannot recommend as things stand. If these things were improved it could be good.
Be sure to say if you don't eat meat when you arrive, meat curry was given us on our first morning, the only time this ever happened jn south India.
- Jana (8/5): Very good -
- Anwarul (10/5): I will come back for sure, if I am in Cochin again. - Perfect, best accommodation during my entire Indian holiday.
Ask Patrick about any information, he will have an answer.
- Catarina (8/5): Very good - Everything was nice and clean. Breakfast was good and the hosts are great
- Robert (10/5): Great place to stay - The owner was very helpful arranging a driver and show for us Breakfast was good Nothing
- Arunachalam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Claire (4/5): Homestay in need of updating and extra care - If you are looking for the experience of staying with a family, this is a good homestay. There was good mosquito netting in the room and available drinking water. A large breakfast was provided and this has to be taken at 9 am unless you were on a boat trip then 8am. There was air conditioning and wi- fi. There were many plants giving a sense of a jungle atmosphere. We found the room very dark and airless with a strong smell of disinfectant. This improved when we opened the dark curtains and windows to let fresh air in. We found the air conditioner very noisy. The room and bathroom was in need of updating. The pictures seem to be from several years ago and the plants are much larger. It was a shame that the roof terrace was not available to sit out on.
- Colin (8/5): Very good - Lovely people nice room good location transport and tours arranged by Patrick Nowear to put clothes
- Bertrand (5/5): Does not value its notation anymore. - The location is nice The photos are outdated and does not reflect the actual reality. The bathroom needs TLC. The service is minimum: no cleaning during a multiple nights stay, very poor breakfast. The family is not specifically friendly, they are very focused on the payment they are expecting. No word when checking out. The overall notation is not justified anymore. They do not make any effort anymore. Many other homestay around that are more interesting alternatives.
- Gavan (9/5): Excellent homestay - Recommend -
- Emma (9/5): Perfect well priced place to stay in Fort Cochin - Location was excellent. Close to the main shops and places to eat but on a quiet side street. V helpful host who cooked a wonderful breakfast. And organised a trip to the KathaKali theatre. Clean room and linen. Nothing. It was great.
- Erogers94 (10/5): Perfect - Great stay! No issues. Very peaceful and comfortable rooms. Very helpful and friendly
- Romina (7/5): Good -
- Renecito (10/5): Exceptional - Patrick and Mary were perfect hosts. They arranged the best tickets for dance en music performances, and arranged a very nice cake for my wifes birthday. We feel really a part of the family. Come to this place it is more then worth ! Locatie peacefull and quiet! Niets
- Rahul (8/5): A very nice place to stay. - The place of stay and locality.
- Bradley (9/5): Superb -
- Štěpánka (10/5): Exceptional - Great breakfast, very nice owners, perfect location.
- Jason (10/5): Exceptional - I’ve stayed at Patrick and Mary’s homestay three times now, and each visit has been a pleasure. They are always welcoming and go out of their way to help, whether it’s arranging excursions or organising airport taxis.
This time, I stayed in a standard single room, which was spot on—clean and comfortable with everything I needed, including tea and coffee-making facilities and basic toiletries. That said, I personally prefer the rooms upstairs, but that’s just a matter of preference.
Breakfast was great as always, with a nice selection: coconut pancakes, bananas, eggs, toast with jam, and tea or coffee. The attention to detail and the atmosphere make this place feel like a home away from home.
If you’re looking for a clean, comfortable stay with warm hosts who genuinely care, I highly recommend this homestay. N/a
- Julia (10/5): Lovely Homestay in the perfect location for exploring fort kochi on foot. Very warm and flexible guests. Room was clean - Wonderful Homestay in an ideal location in Fort Kochi. The hosts were warm and attentive and the guest rooms are clean and private.
- Jaidip (10/5): Exceptional - The room, the ambience, the breakfast and the hosts were all superb. Mary's sumptuous breakfast and Patrick's always ready to help attitude made our stay even more exciting. He made all arrangements for a tuktuk ride, Kathakali dance show and our cab for the rest of the Kerala tour. If it's Kochi once again, it will definitely be Heavenly Homestay.
- Paul (10/5): Amazing, thank you! - We loved staying with Mary and Patrick. It was the first home stay we’ve done and we felt well looked after. Both such wonderful hosts. Patrick was great at organising your whole itinerary so there’s no need to book ahead as he can get better prices than anything online. Also, Mary was an amazing cook for breakfast and welcomed us when we arrived. Both so wonderful and would highly recommend Nothing
- Melissa (9/5): Superb -
- Will (9/5): Excellent stay with Patrick and Mary - We had a great stay with Patrick and Mary. They provided an easy check-in process which made the experience smooth and simple. Good wifi, good breakfast and also provide a laundry service which was great for us. Patrick also organised a tuk tuk tour of Kochi for us which was brilliant and very reasonably priced. Good AC also. Bathroom was simple but did the job!
- Chloe (8/5): A beautiful, heavenly hidden gem - Heaven really is in the name! It’s a beautiful stay - and the owners Patrick and Mary were always so incredibly helpful in organising excursions and taxis for us so quickly. Honestly, the customer service was really impressive- Patrick and Mary seemed to be on hand for us at any point. Breakfast was delicious too!
The place is also just a short walk to the centre of Kochi too where there’s plenty to see, do and eat! Patrick organised my very own yoga closes (1:1 with a teacher just opposite the hotel which was brilliant as well as Ayurvedic massages for us!).
Would definitely stay here again if I were to return and would recommend friends and family to. There could be better defence against mosquitos (I seemed to get bitten a few times over night and should have asked for a mosquito net).
- Gerd (9/5): Superb - Very good and comfortable stay.
- Elise (9/5): Lovely homestay, great location - Had a great time in Fort Kochi. Patrick and his wife were super helpful, breakfast was tasty. Loved the neighborhood, all you need is in walking distance. Definitely first choice in case we come to Kochi again.
- Bruce (8/5): Nice two days in Kochi. Walked on the beach which was sadly garbage strewn - Good location. Close to attractions. Plenty of tuktuks available. Clean. Nice hosts Tiny room. Two windows looked at a wall 2’ away
- Andrew (10/5): Clean, comfortable and friendly homestay - The room was very clean and comfortable, and the hosts, Patrick and Mary, were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good, with omelette, eggs, toast and coconut pancakes. Patrick helped us organise trips and taxis, and gave us good advice on where to go next in Kerala. Great value for money homestay.
- Angela (5/5): Passable - Location
- Rohini (9/5): Superb - Very safe place for a solo lady. Very good breakfast is provided. The host and his wife are good people.
- Wolfgang (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nevi (10/5): Excellent stay, would surely recommend it - Excellent stay, location is great. Prominent places were walkable distance from the homestay. The host Patrick is very knowledgable and helpful. Overall a decent stay Parking within the premises was not available
- Stephen (10/5): Highly recommended Homestay - Lovely comfortable room, very friendly and welcoming hosts, in quiet safe residential area 10 minutes walk from main tourist part of Fort Kochi, great breakfast, pick up from airport, tours arranged. We very much enjoyed our stay and would definitely return to Heavenly Homestay We were happy with everything.
- Alan (8/5): Very good - It was like stepping into a rain forest as we entered the property very green and lush plants, the host's arranged a tuk tuk to take us to see all the points of interest and the driver was very informative. In the evening the host arranged tickets to attend a kathakali show which we thourghly enjoyed. Having to get up early the following day for a flight haha
- Alan (10/5): First days in paradise - Traditional home with all the Traditional features and enough modern amenities to make it amazing
The family made us feel like family.
Patrick even helped us get the correct motorbike for our trip .
Nothing was a problem. No complaints all was great
- Seymour-eyles (10/5): Looking forward to returning - Patrick & Mary were so welcoming and helpful.
Beautiful verandahs with plants everywhere.
Twin tub big bonus...did all laundry on roof top 😊
- Damian (9/5): Superb -
- Sk (9/5): Quite nice yet affordable stay - Homely atmosphere, friendly helpful hosts, greenery, good decor, economically priced Nothing in particular
- Thomas (9/5): A satisfying stay - Cosy, clean and comfortable room amidst luxuriant greenery. Parking required within site
- Mahato (10/5): Heavenly Homestay is truly Heavenly! - The stay matches its name. It's pretty "Heavenly". The luscious green gardens are soothing to look at. I was sceptical about the room. But it's a 10/10 again. It was decently sized for a solo traveller like me. Absolutely clean linens and the bathroom was well maintained as well. My room had a small little balcony. And the shared corridor was again filled with plants. In my stay of 2 days, it felt so peaceful and i would often find myself looking out to the green corridor. Mary and Patrick, both of them are such lovely and polite hosts. The complimentary breakfast is so homely, I loved it. I recommend this stay to everyone who loves a peaceful stay away from the crowd. Would revisit for sure There's nothing to complain about this stay. I absolutely loved staying there
- Manisha (8/5): Wonderful house in a great location with amazing breakfast and friendly hosts. - Breakfast was amazing! It was wonderful to have freshly prepared traditional delicious kerala breakfast with tea every morning. Mrs. Patrick is such a great cook! and so accommodating with our preferences! She made sure there were eggs and toast every morning so my (not very adventurous with food) son could have something to eat.
Location was the best part. You could practically walk to all the main tourist places including fishing nets, beach, cultural center. Rickshaws were never more than a minute's walk.
Everything was clean and comfortable in the rooms. AC and fan were very welcome in the hot weather. I really like the simple decor of the room with traditional art on the walls.
Mr. Patrick gave us a lot of good tips and information and I am so grateful to him for organizing the backwaters trip. It was the highlight of our visit! Thank you Mr. Patrick! 1. Doors didn't close easily due to humidity in the air. Locking and unlocking it each day was such an ordeal that we had to leave it unlocked when we went out. The netted storm doors slammed back each time you opened it, and had metal filings on the edge that hurt and scratched the hands.
2. There is a smelly but friendly street dog (most likely unvaccinated) that has access to the property and made quite a racket outside our door all night. I think this is not safe to allow street dogs to enter and sleep at the property because some of them have rabies and other dangerous diseases. I have personal experience with a family member dying of rabies from getting bitten by a street dog, so this makes me a little nervous for guests who may pet them, especially children. Other than this, it is a really great place!
- Anoop (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marcella (9/5): Superb -
- Devarakonda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dedin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mukherjee (10/5): Exceptional -
- Valsan (8/5): Very good -
- Lucas (8/5): Very good -
- Marcel (9/5): Superb - Friendly people. The hosts suggested going to a traditional classical theater performance "Kathakali", that was really worthwhile. My daughter enjoyed oil massages at the nearby ayurville spa. I enjoyed the historical surroundings nearby. The breakfast was ok, really not bad at all. But if there was something that could be improved it might be worthy of consideration
- Dora (9/5): Superb - The greenery of the homestay was wonderful.😊Both Mary and her daughter are also quite helpful .
My son loved the vibes of the place particularly the kitty there whom he spontaneously got connected 😊😊It was a pleasant stay there overall ..
- Shekhawat (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michelle (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely room with plenty of space. The host family was very friendly and breakfast in the morning was lovely
- Jasdeep (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anine (7/5): Nice stay in Fort Kochi - Cute homestay. Loved that the breakfast is served on one big table so you get to know the other guests, it created a natural environment for sharing tips and stories from our travels. The owners were friendly, and offered different activities for us to get to experience fort kochi. Everything we wanted to see was in walkable distance, although the homestay itself is a little bit away from what we perceived to be central. They have laundry at the roof terrace, where you can do your own laundry which we really enjoyed! AC didn’t work properly, so the room stayed pretty warm. As mentioned above, location is good but not perfect.
- Sue (10/5): Great stay with friendly welcome. Thank you Patrick and Mary x - Nice friendly family
Near to beach
Good breakfast
Air con Nothing
- Wendi (7/5): Good - Breakfast nice and family friendly. Room right next to main entrance of house and so noisy whenever anyone left the property (I understand they were trying to be quiet but the room isn't soundproofed. Ask for a room upstairs if you have a choice. Also, room not ready at advertised check in time.
- Jane (10/5): We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Heavenly Homestay and would certainly recommend. - The location was perfect for us - on a quiet street but very convenient for all the main sights - mostly we walked and once used a tuk-tuk. We loved the lush, green garden and the birdsong! Patrick and Mary were very welcoming and gave helpful advice. Patrick arranged an airport transfer for us and tickets for a Kathakali dance show. Breakfasts were delicious. We enjoyed eating in the dining area next to the kitchen and chatting to other guests. Nothing
- Veronica (8/5): Very good - Patrick and Mary are wonderful hosts. It's getting a bit tired and does need decorating. We had a home cooking demonstration which was excellent value for money, jumbo prawns, special fish, chicken and a host of vegetables dishes. Nothing to dislike, all the facilities were available and no shortage of drinking water etc. Breakfast was more than adequate and all freshly prepared
- Jackie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicola (8/5): Very good - Good location walking distance to town centre. Very helpful owner that helped us with our back water tour & transfer to Munnar. Thank you The bathroom was tired, but overall nothing bad.
- Erica (6/5): A few slightly "off" notes - Lovely location Gorgeous plants all over. Nice rooms Felt there was a bit too much pressure to book things through the owner. The massages he arranged for the 3 of us felt a bit like being on a production line, with one taking place in a corridor with just a curtain to reception and people walking through to a further room while my friend still on table. Would not recommend that
- Simon (8/5): Great location and a very comfortable bed. - Patrick had really thought about the needs of his guests. Our room had a very comfortable bed, there was a fridge, a hairdryer and two comfy seats and a small table. Breakfast was substantial with a savoury option plus eggs, toast and tea and coffee. Patrick also offered tourist bookings and the tickets he got for us at the theatre were excellent - front row. The accommodation was well placed for a 10 minute walk to a variety of restaurants and there were tuk tuks readily available for longer journeys. The air conditioning was loud.
- Debra (8/5): Very good -
- Debra (8/5): Nice quiet place just outside central area - Nice family, nice room, quiet spot. I used their washing machine to wash my clothes which was awesome. I got a bit tired of the walk into Fort Kochi, though it wasn't actually far.
- Clara (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic place! It’s got that relaxed warm family energy that makes a stay feel very welcoming.
Super clean and cozy as well as well located. Very close to nice restaurants and beach-vibe kinda shops. Breakfast is also excellent.
If i ever visit Fort Kochi again i would definitely pick Heavenly Homestay again.
Thank you for everything Patrick!
- Andre (8/5): Séjour très confortable - The room was confortable and nice location It was good for the price ....
- Petro (10/5): Exceptional - Nice place, good family, all what you need!
- Anne (7/5): Good -
- Jesse (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent stay! Great location, friendly family, great food. Room was very cozy and comfortable.
- Sophie (8/5): Great base for Cochin visit - Simple but pleasant accommodation for our 2 night stay in Cochin. Great location close to all main attractions while in a quiet, peaceful road. Caretaker very welcoming and helpful, arranged for tickets to the Kathakali dance and gave great restaurant recommendations. Could perhaps be a bit cleaner but nothing major
