Guest Reviews
- Michael (4/5): - .near sea front First room , window pain was hanging out of frame.they moved us. Corridors were dark and strange oddours
- Ian (6/5): We won't be back - Convenient for our trip Our room was small and we paid an extra £10 per night to have a sea view but in the way of a reasonable sea view was lots of scaffolding but after our journey from Plymouth Devon we were to tired to suggest moving.
- David (1/5): Scruffy - Location Scruffy, run down, no bar service at night 10:00. Uncomfortable beds, ripped net curtains, could go on many things.
- Maryann (7/5): Great option on limited budget, no frills basic accommodation, lovely staff - Lovely welcome from reception staff, fantastic location, good value for money.
- Roger (10/5): - The Afton is my "Go To" hotel in Eastbourne. Location, cleanliness, room sizes and staff are always spot on.

- Pauline (9/5): Good - Well maintained, helpful staff

- Christopher (10/5): A wonderful stay at a great hotel - Lovely hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Everything was wonderful.
- David (7/5): Clean tidy hotel friendly staff very helpful - The property was clean and tidy it done the job A bit basic but so are a lot of the hotels in the area
- John (7/5): Nice stay - It is clean and tidy, staff are friendly and it's well positioned and well priced It is a bit old and tired. The beds are very lumpy.
- Kim (9/5): Happy weekend break - Location , friendly, helpful Nothing
- Vicky (10/5): -
- Jill (8/5): - They don't do breakfast.Location was good. Parking

- Adrian (8/5): Lovely stay at this reasonably priced very central hotel - Good value for what it offered and a fantastic location. Lovely staff all very helpful, room was clean, and kept to a good standard throughout our visit. Just a bit dated, which is no fault of the staff. Would definitely stay there again.
- Jane (8/5): A good hotel with a great location! - The room had a seaview and was very comfortable & clean. The staff are friendly & helpful. The shower could have done with a bit more power!
- Samantha (8/5): - Location right on beach opposite pier, friendly staff, Soap dispenser both empty and bar closed early.
- Josh (7/5): Run down but functional - Everything was pretty old and run down but functional and it was fine for a budget stay. The location is excellent - right on the sea front. The staff were nice and helpful e.g. helping explain parking on local roads and providing permits. The room was clean enough and the bed old but comfy enough. The hotel is in need of a serious refurb and deep clean - outside and in. No WiFi in the rooms (only in the lobby). Dirty communal areas (stairs etc.), empty beer cans on the balcony of our room.
- Sakowicz (3/5): - Radiator, I could use it to dry my shoes.
Reception and the lift. Honestly, I chose a very cheap room for 46 GBP per night .
Perhaps I should not expect a lot for this price. But I didn't like the room.
The shower was not adjustable at all. If I was over 187cm, it would be a nightmare.
The bathroom wasn't properly cleaned, there was a woman 's hair.
I don't know if the loud music was caused by the guests of this hotel, but it was a nightmare yesterday.
The room doesn't have WiFi and a fridge, which is a big minus.
Well, honestly, I didn't like that room, and next time I d'rather pay a bit more and have decent condition.

- Mike (7/5): Cheap and cheerful. - Very close to town centre and sea front. Could be noisy at night and no breakfast over the weekend.
- Hev (6/5): -
- de Niese (5/5): -
- Louise (3/5): - Nothing the room was filthy dirty manager was rude Room was dirty i had to clean it manager waz rude
- Chris (8/5): Basic & served a purpose - needs updating. - Location was good, room had sea view. Tired decor, no staff in sight for check out.
- matthew (8/5): -
- jesse (7/5): -
- Marta (7/5): - The view, and very nice welcome. The gentalman on reception was very kind and friendly. The noise from stupid drunks having an orgy in their room . No comments.
But is not hotels fault.
- Marcin (7/5): -
- Shiv (6/5): - Location right opposite pier. Comfy bed. Staff polite Old building so slight smell of damp but we literally only slept in the room so all good
- Roger (10/5): Always Pleased - Have stayed at the Afton many times now. Never disappointed.
Rooms are always clean, beds are comfortable and the staff are always helpful.
- Marina (7/5): - Location and price. Comfortable bed. Bit tired.
- Kulkarni (5/5): Loction is good but room and bathroom are to small also wifi is not available in room. - I like location its near by beach. Rooms are to small and wifi facility is not available in room. Only around reception.
- Jacqueline (9/5): Very friendly staff - Location is good no breakfast room nice
- Guest (10/5): -
- Farhana (7/5): - Sea view They did not provide any towel for guests
- nicola (8/5): - Easy access, friendly staff.
Great location No wifi in rooms, it was in the lounge only. But thats more a me issue!
- Eva (6/5): - Great location, room facing to the sea. Receptionist were helpful and kind. The room standards is really poor. The photos displaying are none of the real room status. Not matching at all. The towels were dirty. The shower is dirty and very basic. Windows are hard to open. Only opens close to the floor. Double bed is realisticly two single pushed together. Bed sheets looked clean but did not smell right. Not a nice place to stay.

- Liubov Shcherbata (2/5): - It's be very very very dirty room....
- Mario (7/5): -
- Teresa (2/5): Disappointed - Friendly staff We paid extra for sea view but the floor was sloping and the radiator in bathroom was red hot had to put a towel over it to stop husband from burning his hand. I never got to sleep till 5am due to noise coming from the roof with the wind.
- Chris (9/5): -
- David (8/5): A good weekend stay - I stayed on a room only basis. The hotel is very well situated, right opposite the Pier, and quite near the shops. My room was very comfortable znd clean. The staff (a family?) were friendly and welcoming. I would stay again. The room tended to be cold at night. If the radiator was on I was unable to adjust it. Also the Wifi was unstable and kept dropping out.
- Russell (1/5): - Nothing, people walking around most the night walls are like paper, and when i was going to the loo there was a massive creak thaoughr i was going to go through the floor. I'm dyslexic so the top one is my bad
- Richard (10/5): - Very clean and right beside the beach..
- Samuel (10/5): Pleasant, with Nice Staff - Good Location, Friendly Staff, Clean , warm and comfortable
- Marie (10/5): We will always stay at this hotel when visiting Eastbourne lovely people great hotel - The people who run this hotel are so lovely and welcoming we had the best stay a Beautiful room with a comfy bed we could not ask for more thank you so much we will be back again soon
- Sy (1/5): Do not book this place- terrible - Receptionist was ok Bed was squeaky and broken, I opened the window and it wouldn’t shut and came off the latch cause it had rotted. Bedroom was smelly and dirty and under the bed it wasn’t hoovered for years
- Felicia (7/5): Good place to stay for the price - Good location
Friendly staff
Clean bedroom and bathroom
Bed was comfortable. Had all the bedding we required, and towels
Had a bath in room and soaps provided
Lift Location good, but due to being close to pier, fairly noisy outside at night
Fairly dated furniture and decoration
Shower wasn't the most accurate or powerful

- Heidi (4/5): Very budget hotel needs a serious update. Area didn’t feel safe wouldn’t visit again. - Location 12 minutes from the train station. Didn’t feel safe in the area. Lots of noise at night especially in the room above us and outside.
- Wuttikrai (8/5): คุ้มค่า - Upgrade room to us with free of charge
- Christopher (1/5): Horrible druggies everywhere and fighting - Breakfast not available no dining tables. The hotel advertised was obviously when previous owners had it. We were really not very happy about the state of the place. Black stuff coming out of so called on suites cold tap.it advertised breakfast for £15 per person beautiful pictures on your site

- Lynette (6/5): Hotel gave me what I needed- a good night’s sleep - Situated opposite the pier, this is no frills hotel which could do with some TLC. But it is incredibly reasonably priced, so if you’re expecting a grand hotel for the price, this is not for you. The reception staff were very professional and polite. It’s clean, warm and I had a great nights sleep here. this is no frills hotel which could do with some TLC. But it is incredibly reasonably priced, so if you’re expecting a grand hotel for the price, this is not for you.
- Peter (9/5): -
- Tina (10/5): Comfy ideal great bed bath spotlesd - Bed comfy nice area close to beach clean tidy
- Precious Namatai (5/5): -
- Simon (10/5): -
- Andrea (1/5): Don't use this hotel. - The position of the hotel The heating never went on the first night. The second night I called the emergency number as i couldn't turn the heating off and have a heart problem. Another resident helped me open the window, which I was then at risk from someone coming in through the window, as it was on the first floor and easily excessable considering it was only one floor up.
I will be asking for a refund.
