Usually I feel comfortable staying here, but this time it was high tension and uncomfortable for some unknown godforsaken reason. I felt like a dead body the whole time. Also, the spa and massage lady took an extra ₹1000 from me, which I felt was unfair.

• Dylan (6/5): More like 3 star hotel. - This was certainly not a 5 star hotel. The property was beautiful, the room was clean and comfortable (except the bathroom which smelled heavily of cigarettes), the rooftop pool was lovely, but there is a major lack of details to be considered a 5 star hotel. The in room minibar was empty, despite a price list. The room service menu was huge with lots of great options, we were excited to order after a long travel day but upon calling we were informed none of the menu was available, we could only order sandwiches, which made no sense since the restaurant was fully open and the whole menu was available to dine in. There is actually no airport shuttle as advertised, they arrange taxi services which are triple the price of an Uber. The fitness center was very run down, of the 4 cardio machines, only one treadmill actually worked and turned on. The Bike machine had a broken power cord just sitting there on the ground. Most of the other equipment was old and didn’t work properly. Overall, don’t expect 5 star quality from this place. It’s fine to stay since it’s near the airport which is why we booked, but I expected much more from a 5 star hotel in India.

Not all amenities were open and the Vitality bar is apparently men only but this was not advertised or mentioned anywhere. My husband and I were hushed out of the bar with no explanation. I had to look for the waiter in the next room to get my bill. Room was a disappointment. Even though the hotel has central air conditioning, there is no thermostat in the room to adjust your comfort level. The only thing you can do is to control the speed of the ceiling fan, which turned out to be a very noisy one in my room. The bathroom had all amenities, but was extremely poorly lit. I could barely see myself in the mirror. The toilet had brown surface for much of the inside, apparently due to iron in the flush water. The shower area was well cleaned, but had a lot of residues that doesn't go away in a routine cleaning. The bathroom needed renovation.

Please keep up this great work on great room keeping as we are frequent visitors in cochin and for the first time in such a budget hotel I impressed with the level of cleanliness. Will certainly be returning next year so please keep up the excellence.

I had to wait for the lift for more than 5 mins due to maintenance problems. I had to call reception 4 times to confirm airport transfer for next morning.

• MattSimon (6/5): An OK hotel near the Kochi airport. - I was returning to USA from a quick trip to Kerala, India. My flight was departing at early morning 3:30 AM and hence I needed a hotel room to take a shower and take a nap at night before boarding the plane. This hotel is 5 KM away from the airport and hence their room rates are lower than that of the hotels closer to the airport. It served my purpose. The hotel does not have a free airport shuttle. When I requested them to arrange a Taxi for my ride to the airport at 2:00 AM in the morning, they demanded INR (Indian Rupees) 400 for the short 5 KM distance to the airport. On the previous day I paid only INR 490 for an air-conditioned taxi from the Cochin airport to the Cochin University (CUSAT) which is 20 KM away from the airport. I took that taxi ride from airport to CUSAT at early morning 2:30 AM when my flight from USA landed at Kochi. Hence the rate is adjusted for the night-time rates. I told the hotel folks that the INR 400 they are demanding is very exorbitant compared to the rate I paid on the previous day for the taxi. I later took an auto-rickshaw which is available at the main road in front of the hotel, to reach the airport at 2:00 AM. It cost only about INR 75 at night time. The hotel has a restaurant. My friend and I had Chappathi (Indian Bread), Fish Molly, and Beef Roast. I developed stomach-upset after eating the beef-roast. Does not know whether it is spoiled meat or the spice in it. I would recommend this hotel, if they arrange free airport transfers.
