Guest Reviews
- Vicki (10/5): Wonderful place to stay when visiting the Beamish Museum. - The apartment was clean and well equiped. A nicely organizen notebook had information about the apartment and local businesses. The notebook even included information about local places to eat.. We really had no complaints. We stayed two nights and three nights would have been ideal. We visited the Beamish Museum and felt we didn't have time to see everything. We would have liked to visit one more day.
- Fo22ie (10/5): This property is in an ideal location and is well presented and I would recommend it. - We were in the area to go to the Beamish Museum, this property was in an ideal location being minutes away from the Museum. The views from the lounge were really good, it was very quiet and had everything that we required. We also like the fact that it was all on one level. There were steps down to the property, no really a problem just mentioning it.
- Cynthia (10/5): Home from Home. Exactly suited us. - Comfortable, everything was to hand that we required for our stay
- Louise (8/5): - It was a great wee apartment to stay for a couple of days. Very clean and spacious. Great views and comfortable.
- Pippa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dawn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jeff (10/5): We would definitely consider The Fairways if we visited again an would absolutely recommend. - The location was perfect for our visit. We were up for a wedding about 2 miles away, so this was the perfect base. The apartment was well equipped with everything we could need. The host was friendly via text when we checked in.
This would be great for a family of four.
- Caroline (9/5): Great owner, great location, great property with everything you need. - The location for Beamish as this was where we were going.
The communication from the owner was excellent. Although the property was clean and tidy, it's in need of a little update in areas such as the bathroom. But, it was clean.
- Cblane (9/5): Our first visit to this area so a great location especially for Beamish Museum. - Location was great only a few minutes from the Wedding venue. So nice to have an apartment instead of an hotel room.
Host Andy was especially friendly and helpful in providing us with a travel cot and high chair.
- Avril (9/5): Perfect apartment, great rear views, warm, comfortable and quiet and clean. Private parking. - The property has off road parking. It was easy to find and access. There are a few steps down to the front door. It’s in a lovely residential location. The apartment is spotlessly clean and has everything you need for a restful stay. The furniture is comfortable and the decor modern and bright. The beds are very comfortable and extra throws for warmth are provided. Towels are provided too, the bathroom has a bath and over bath shower, which was hot and powerful. The kitchen was well catered to with ample pans to make a meal. Terrestrial tv and great views at the rear over the golf course via large box windows. Great spot for a wedding at the causey inn and cheaper too! It was very quiet and restful and would recommend a stay here for all the local attractions. The host was friendly and helpful, in short, a perfect smooth booking and a perfect stay.
- Malcolm (8/5): Very good -
- Kate (8/5): Very good -
- John (5/5): Passable - Location Needs a good clean
Not worth the money
- Ian (10/5): Excellent location would highly recommend - Location, cleanliness facilities car parking Nothing i
- Grace (6/5): I liked it mostly. Just some bits need sorting out. - Loved the location. Fab having easy access and a car park space. Nicely decorated. And comfy sofa. Bathroom was dismal floor not even, silicone around bath is awful, mirror looked tatty. Pipes rattle taps too close to sink side. Really needs a plumber in there to sort it out. Taps moved. Shower is boiling hot or freezing cold. Fridge tiny. Steps to flats very steep. Tv far too small. Doors grubby around door handles. I cleaned two as I couldn’t bear touching them being grubby.
- Audrey (10/5): It was fantastic and if I am visiting again will certainly use this property - Extremely quiet and great location. Also the host was most helpful, and efficient
- Clare (7/5): Great location , Andy helpful and informative . Apartment views stunning . Has all equipment and facilities needed but n - Excellent location , stunning communal garden that then overlooked golf course . Good facilities in apartment . Shabby chick furniture in bedrooms. Owner “Andy”
Excellent communication before , during and after and answered questions we had prior to visit . The furniture (outdoor seating ) very rusty and needs replacing . Kitchen cupboards full of tins of paint, cleaning products etc. Bathroom is “aged” needs some TLC. Apartment needs a little more attention when being cleaned . Master room bed is too large as hard to walk round bed .
- Tebbutt (9/5): Fantastic Fairways. - Light and airy. Quiet. Great view from lounge. Convenient for Beamish Museum.
- Stephen (10/5): Our 2nd visit just as good as we remembered can’t wait to return. - Location and comfortable accommodation N/A

- Catriona (10/5): Exceptional -

- Malcolm (9/5): Very spacious and convenient for Beamish Museum. - Spacious and convenient for Beamish Museum Double bed was too big for the room. Bathroom needs a bit of tlc and a grab rail on the bath. Could do with more crockery.
- Cliff (1/5): Shocked as it had such good ratings, don’t know if it’s a new cleaner ? - Lovely surroundings, warm, comfy bed Dirty toilet with pee & pubic hair on toilet seat, a pubic hair in kitchen cupboard which lead me to think the same cloth was used on both, hair in the bed. Dirty bath panel, crumbs and dirt On worktops and dirty sink. Brown marks up bath panel, Dust on all surfaces and the door panels, we had to clean before using. There were 4 of us booked but only 2 could go due to an emergency operation, I did ask for a refund but that wasn’t possible as it was too near the time of going which I accepted. But that was before arrival to a dirty apartment, it was my son & partner who went and they didn’t think to take photo’s sadly. When they got home & told me I contacted the owner who asked if we had taken photo’s when I said no he was quite abrupt and said he wouldn’t do anything, then threatened to inform booking.com that I wasn’t in apartment and that they wouldn’t post my review. Which was obviously wrong, I never asked for a refund after they had been, but an apology would have been nice, instead he has lied and said I got nasty after no refund. I did leave some good ratings for certain things as fairs fair, but overall not good at all, How sad as I wouldn’t lower myself to put him down or lie
- Marion (8/5): - ldeal for visiting Beamish Museum only 4 mins by car from property ,Clean and very Spacious beautiful views from the back of property ,very handy for visiting many parts of Northumberland . It is a ground floor apartment but if you have any walking issues,my husband uses a walking stick ,there are 8 steps down to the apartment which we didn't no ,but it wouldn't stop us returning .Andy the host was excellent and also a very kind neighbour above us .Would recommend to friends thank you .
- Margaret (8/5): Very good -
- Gareth (10/5): Quiet and lovely - Lovely apartment that was clean and well equipped. Convenient for our needs and host was very communicative. Had a lovely couple of nights. The double bed is huge but it is tight to pass the foot of the bed as it is so close to the wall ( a bit nit-picking but with a bad hip I mention it in case someone has mobility issues). Also take note that the apartment is accessed via steps on the outside. Overall a fantastic unit and would definitely recommend it and plan to stay again.
- Jennifer (8/5): Nice two night stay - Excellent communication from host. Free parking space. Key safe, so flexible check in/out times. Well equipped kitchen. Very tidy. Clean bedrooms, living space and bathroom. Bath for washing our toddler. Outdoor seating, although we didn't have a chance to sit outside. Dishwasher. Good location for visiting Beamish and Diggerland. Beds could have been comfier. Tight parking space (wasn't an issue for us as the adjacent spaces were empty). Small kitchen (waste bin needed moved to access
fridge freezer) with small fridge freezer. Socket location above cooker hob not safe.
- Janette (10/5): Exceptional -
- Luke (10/5): - Really great location and brilliant communication from the host. Stayed here because I was doing the great north run. Very clean and tidy.
- Victoria (8/5): Brillaint stay, thank you so much. - Perfect location for a wedding at the south Causey inn, easy to get an Uber from. Clean, modern apartment with everything you need. Great communication with the owners.
- Liz (8/5): Excellent location for Beamish and good communication from the owner - Good layout Nothing
- Gillian (9/5): we Loved it and will stay again - Loved the size we had our 2 young grandchildren with us and great for them to run around outside in the garden. We loved the kitchen as we could make breakfast was well equipped. Great location for Beamish so will be booking again in the future If I'm going to be picky the bathroom was a bit dirty still and the boiler made a load noise when switched on.
- Claire (9/5): Superb -
- Sheils (10/5): A really good place to stay that is so handy for visiting Beamish - Everything clean, comfortable and all on the ground floor. The accommodation was excellent for visiting Beamish museum and Durham. The owner Andy sent good directions and interesting information which was very useful. All was good
- Anonymous (9/5): Comfortable modern apartment for short family stay near Beamish Museum. - Great apartment 5 minutes drive from Beamish museum. Well presented and very comfortable for a family of four. Nice views from the living room over the golf course and countryside beyond. Would definitely recommend and rebook. Kitchen might be a bit limiting if staying as a family or group for more than a few nights - e.g. fridge / freezer is very small.
- Abigail (9/5): Great host, great property! Highly recommended! - Andy was so accommodating and the property had everything we needed! Great location, very clean and easy check-in and check out process.
We would definitely stay again when visiting Newcastle.
- Rebecca (10/5): A lovely place to stay - Everything … it had everything you needed , it’s lovely and spacious and decorated lovely. It was very convenient for beamish and visiting The Angel of the North . Andy couldn’t of been more helpful and pleasent Nothing
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional - Home from home.
- P (6/5): Accommodation was okay, but certainly didn't tick all the Boxes - The flat was quite comfortable and spacious enough for our needs, but rather nevertheless rather expensive.
The 'Oven' didn't' work, in the bathroom the basin plug was disconnected and the flat could only be accessed by steps. The 'Oven' didn't work at all, so we couldn't warm food up that we brought with us or use it for the rest of the weekend.
On Saturday and fortunately for my family, we attended a wedding where we were fed and watered.
The owner did send a Text to say there was a problem with the Oven, but this was when we were on our journey to the flat!
Early on Sunday morning, the owner did offer to drive over to try and sort out the Oven, but didn't want the intrusion, so we decided to leave early!
Under the circumstances, we weren't very satisfied, mainly because of this faulty Oven.
Our intended stay, was from Friday evening until Bank Holiday Monday, but we decided to cut our weekend short on Sunday morning, travel home and stop for a hot meal on our journey home.
- Paul (9/5): Delightful stay - Ideal for our stay. Lovely peaceful location with views of local wildlife. Well equipped. Very good communication with the owner from the onset. Very handy for visiting places of interest, Beamish and Newcastle. Would recommend. Nothing
- Elaine (9/5): Enjoyed our stay, would definitely recommend. - Great location, backing onto golf course, very quiet and peaceful.Ideal for a visit to Beamish museum.
- Diana (10/5): Only 2 night stay perfect for visiting Beamish, Angel of the north and Crook hall gardens - N/A
- Jayne (9/5): Great would definitely recommend. - Everything was fab Mattress on double bed a bit worn.
- Ann (8/5): Perfect appartment . - The Appartment was comfy, well appointed and a had a nice view from the back of the appartment. Plenty of spare blankets and towels. Very convenient if you are visiting Beamish. Easy location if visiting North Pennines. The Owner was very helpful. Highly recommend. Plenty of room for four people. A nice large bread board is needed.
- Patrick (6/5): Ok for summer let - Flat was convenient for us and quite nice . The host was very nice and helpful . We had a bit of trouble with the heating . Only on for certain hours and it was a very cold time of the year
The double bed was awful and needs replacing . 2 single mattresses on a base too big for the room . The oven didn’t work but the hob did. .
It would be lovely if these problems were sorted .
- Zara (9/5): Superb - I loved our homely it was. And how close it was to beamish and how easy it was to find and that it was near to shops
- Simon (9/5): Superb - Clean and convenient apartment. Super comfy beds. Loads of communication from Andy, the owner.
- Heather (10/5): Ideal apartment to visit Beamish Museum - Location for Beamish Museum was excellent.
Apartment was spacious and clean.
Lovely view from the back. N/A
- Edward (8/5): Very good -
- Vincent (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dawne (9/5): Superb - Steep steps at entrance.
- Sarah (8/5): Ideal short stay apartment. Host communication great. - Central location and comfortable rooms. Cobwebs around properly
Mould on slip mat and around bathroom.
Unable to change heating settings so cold at times
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional - We were very happy with our stay in Andys lovely apartment, it had everything we needed for our short stay. Our visit was purely to visit Beamish Museum which was a short drive away, so it was a great base and somewhere comfortable to return to after a long day of sightseeing. Andy's guide book was invaluable as it saved us the hastle of looking for decent places to eat. We had a lovely meal at The Shepherd and Shepherdess, very reasonably priced and a fish supper from the Fish Inn also really nice. Should we visit the area again we would definitely stay at The Fairways.
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gillian (10/5): Enjoyed our three night stay at fairways. Ideal spot for going to beamish.and sheo - Lovely apartment clean and comfy. Rooms of a useable size.
Modern decor. Nice location for beamish and coast. Would certainly go back again in the future.
Well done Andy.. If anything car parking could be better. Not a lot of space but doable.
- Chris (8/5): Very good -
- Allison (8/5): Good location for day trips out ,lovely area -
- Hughes (9/5): Superb -
- Darrell (9/5): Superb -
- Amanda (10/5): Fantastic little haven for history lovers - Well appointed and airy, the flat was a lovely place to come rest after walking around Beamish (twice!). The host was friendly and accommodating- we are already talking about coming back!
- Helen (10/5): We were there for a 3 day golf comp. Perfect retreat - Location was perfect. Very quiet - a perfect bolt hole. Nice with the outside space. 2 roe deer in the garden one morning. Backs onto a golf course
- Stef (10/5): Lovely place - This place looks much nicer and bigger than in the photos, it was really nice. The outdoor space is great too. I did have some issues with getting the heating to work which was a downside, as only had one heater to keep us warm there as a replacement to the heating not being on, but the stay itself was lovely. I had accidentally left a bag of stuff there after our stay, which I didn't realise until hours after checking out. The owner was easy to reach and kindly assisted me with sorting to get it back. Great information and communication from the owner. The location is good, it's in a quiet residential area but the Beamish Museum is literally a few minutes up the road and shops are nearby too.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great place 🙂. Great location would definitely recommend to family and friends
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A clean, tidy and well-serviced 2 bedroom apartment close to the Beamish Museum and to Chester-le-Street (where we watched international cricket at Riverside). Andy the owner was communicative and helpful with directions and pub/restaurant recommendations. Highly recommended if you want somewhere convenient combined with the flexibility and budget of self-catering. Definitely recommended.
- Annette (10/5): Great apartment - Andy was very helpful. It was very easy to deal with him and he even recommended an Italian which I unfortunately did not get chance to try. Everything you need is available and I will book again. Thanks for a good visit
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The apartment is in a fantastic spot for visiting the beamish museum which is what we were there for and being not a lot more than 2 night at a premier inn for the whole weekend but having the benefit of a full apartment rather than a couple of rooms or trying to work a single family room this was fantastic! Our bed wasn’t as comfy as we’d like but we have literally just bought a new mattress at home so that can be forgiven!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Exactly as described, well thought out, excellent condition and very clean. Milk, tea, coffee, even dishwasher tablets were all provided. Everything for a relaxing break.
- Chris (10/5): Perfect place to stay.Stay here! - The Fairways has to be up there in one of the best places i have stayed in. The rooms were very well decorated, very very clean and so spacious. so much thought was put in to making our stay a very enjoyable experience, with little personal touches like milk in the fridge for when you arrived.I will definitly be staying here again and would recommend The Fairways to everyone. Thank you Andy .Your first class!
- Verified traveler (8/5): The Fairways - August 2018 - Exactly what we needed. A self-catering apartment for a family of four to stay for a couple of nights, while visiting friends and family. Well decorated and appointed. Recommended for a short break in the area
- Sonia (10/5): Business at The Fairways gets a thumbs up - Excellent 2 bed apartment which was ideal for a home from home for business, especially as I had 2 different colleagues staying with me on 2 of the nights so it was excellent value too. There was everything you needed to make your stay as comfortable as possible, including the big fluffy towels and as I was able to bring my own supplies I didn't overeat at an expensive restaurant chain either. I would definitely stay again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautifully decorated apartment with everything we neede for a two night stay, even tea/coffee and fresh milk on arrival which was a nice touch. Great location for exploring Beamish and surrounding area. Very helpful host too.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Our stay at The Fairways - Stayed for two nights with two other friends. We all said how lovely and clean, well equipped the apartment was. Very comfortable beds. Very close to Beamish and Durham.
Andy the owner contacted me with full instructions of how to get there and any problems to get in touch.
Will definitely love to stay here again in the future.
Nothing negative to say
