Guest Reviews
- Roland (6/5): -
- Phil Henshaw (8/5): - Great location adjacent to the river. Comfortable room, well stocked with water , tea , coffee. Getting in the outside gate when the pub was closed was sometimes a challenge.
Noise from the bar in first floor rooms , but it is a pub after all !
- Anya (8/5): Nice Location, clean room - Location. I like the old building. The Pub is nice Single room was really small, a hanger for a coat would be nice.
- Sally (10/5): - It was perfect place to stay for a relaxing weekend break
- Jane (9/5): Ideal stay for Windsor - We had the family rooms above the pub. It was spacious and comfortable. The pub was very busy but this wasn't an issue and we didn't notice any noise.
Location was perfect for what we needed it for.
There was no parking at the hotel but there is a car park 3 minutes walk from the hotel. No breakfast facilities. But there was tea and coffee facilities in the room.
- Steve (7/5): -
- Rina (7/5): Comfortable and near to everything you need - Excellent location. Stairs were steep though and may be difficult for those with mobility issues. The room has everything I needed. Low ceiling as it was on the top floor.
- Keith (10/5): It is a great location. Staff is always friendly. The food is always great. - It is a great location. Staff is always friendly. The food is always great.
- Patrick (8/5): -
- Pamela (10/5): - Friendliness and helpfulness of staff.
- Norbert (8/5): Tolles Windsor-Eton Wochenende - Alles war gut die Lage war fantastisch und wir hatten vom Zimmer einen Ausblick auf das Schloss und die Brücke
Das Personal war super und der Pub absolut authentisch ???
- Stefan (10/5): -
- Andrew (8/5): Great location and good value for money - Very good location with very welcoming staff. Had a nice pub garden and served its own beers which were of high quality. No major criticisms. Would have been nice to have a slightly larger menu.
- Newlands (7/5): -
- Ian (9/5): Defo would have been worth the price, but sadly we had to leave early for an emergency at home! - Nice pub, great room with plenty of room, and clean and comfy
- Suzanne (10/5): Our stay was short but lovely with a perfect location. - Beautiful room with a view of the castle. The reception lady (sorry did not take her name) was exceptional and even took us to our room rather than just giving us directions. We didn't eat there but had a couple of drinks with friends and it is lovely that they use local breweries and suppliers. Would definitely recommend.
- Helen (9/5): - Great location No breakfast
- Jo (8/5): Good pub rooms in a great location - Lovely pub based in Eton by the bridge, we booked 2 rooms for an event at Windsor Castle that we were attending. Rooms were comfortable, towels and nice toiletries provided, all at a good price and location point for us, staff were friendly & informative. Single room didn’t have anywhere to hang garments really so either a rail or hooks would be useful.
- Alan (4/5): Try the Travelodge instead. - Polite and helpful staff; good location away from the town centre. It had the feel of a B&B. Steep narrow stairs, old carpet in the hallways, tired paintwork, lights on in the hall all night. Perhaps I was unlucky, but my bed was soaking wet when I got in it owing to a drip from the ceiling. Staff helpfully put me in another room. Stuffy room, so opened the windows, anticipating a quiet night. Then disturbed at length in the early hours by several local 'revellers' eating kebabs and shouting/grunting at each other outside my window after a night out (it was a Saturday night... there must be a club nearby). At 7.30am on the Sunday morning a council glass recycling collection took place directly outside, which lasted about 20 minutes and destroyed any possibility of a lie in. The mattress seemed to dip on one side, which made me feel as if I was about to fall out of bed. Bathroom was cramped. The shower mixer seemed jammed and so the only option was to wash with water that was rather on the hot side (for me). Bathroom extractor fan seemed to go on forever after turning off the bathroom light, making it tricky to get to sleep. All in all, far short of what I was expecting for £90.
- Bernice (7/5): - N/a Breakfast to be included
- Mark (10/5): Wonderful - You cannot ask for better people friendly staff and great accommodation in a fantastic location There’s a few bits and pieces, but overall it is amazing value for money
- Boom (10/5): Best charm in Eton-Windsor - I have stayed at this location 10+ times. Given that I don't live in the UK that says something. The location, rooms and the pub are all super. I would suggest booking a meal ahead of time. Walking distance to all attractions.
- John (8/5): A good place to stay when staying in Windsor. - Great location, comfortable well equipped room.
- Pooja (8/5): - Great location. Staff very helpful.
- Ion cornelius (8/5): -
- Irena (10/5): - That was a nice stay in the old historic inn settled in the wonderful location of river and park area and a 5 min walk from the Castle.
The room was clean, warm and equipped with kettle, tea, coffe, water cans, fan, a big wardrobe, hairdryer and other bathroom stuff.
The room is spacious and well lighted. The beds were very comfy. We arrived 3 hours earlier, and they let us be in the room without any charge. Very good impressions.
- Devon (5/5): Spoiled by the loss of my scarf and the winding staircase not good for elderly people - I left a very expensive hermes scarf in my bedroom and a magnifying mirror and it was very difficult to get any information about where my scarf went
I know for a fact I left it on the bed because I’d put it around my eyes to sleep that night
They say they have the magnifying mirror, but they have not got the scarf
I am very upset
- Rachel (8/5): -
- Shauna (8/5): Great location for visiting Windsor castle - Spotless. Good locator Windsor castle Parking was some distance away and was expensive
- Anne (9/5): -
- Rachel (7/5): Great location and good value - I enjoyed my stay. The location was excellent for the castle where I was singing in the chapel for the weekend. The bed was comfortable and I didn't find it noisy as other reviewers have complained about. It is in the heart of things so a bit of noise is to be expected. I enjoyed the fizzy water that was provided - that was a nice touch. The shower was very weak until towards the end of the time I was using it, when it suddenly got more powerful. I suspect that the water pressure isn't high enough to support many of the showers in the rooms being used at once. The shower also needed the hose replacing.
- Johan (8/5): Great stay to explore Windsor & Eton - Excellent location Shower had basically no pressure
- Sam (9/5): -
- Rehab (10/5): - I came to Windsor for an event my booking was for single room, which was really very small room, and wanted a mirror and board for iroinging my outfit the manager nicely offered a double room instead. The bed is comfy, th the tea and coffee was additional bonus, the location is Fab, everything just round your corner, I go to bed early but the noise from the resturant wasn't really annoying, everything was just as I needed. The hotel is small cozy and just what you need for business trip adults for holidays. Need extra lights sources specially for ppl who prefer privacy over daylight.
- Anastasios (10/5): Perfect - Clean and cozy place
- Lisa (9/5): Very comfortable - Great location for where I needed to be … plus it’s above a pub! NA
- Neale (8/5): -
- linda (3/5): Wouldn't stay again u less they had a major refurbishment - Location Rooms were lacking any cgarm
- Angela (5/5): Good value, excellent location, no frills, fitted my requirements. - Excellent location for my needs The room only had a main light so it was big light or no light. A small table lamp or dimmer switch on the main light would have been helpful.
- Tom (9/5): Great location, cozy pub, would stay again - Nice room above a cozy pub with great local beers on tap! Perfect location, super close to Windsor Castle and both train stations. The room was clean but showed some minor signs of wear and tear. As it's located above a pub some noice in the evening hours can be expected. There was a quick-working electric heater. Free water and tea provided in the room. Check-in was quick. Staff was very friendly. Leaving my luggage after check-out was no issue. The room could use a nightstand lamp.
- Samuel (10/5): -
- Jennifer (9/5): - Great location Only one seat in the room there were 2 of us so one had to sit on the bed.
- Julie (8/5): -
- Christine (10/5): - Everything This was our third stay at the George, it's a great old pub.Perfect central location, lovely beer garden, great food, will go back again next year.Good value for money, actually situated in Eton over the bridge. As I said an old pub so rooms are small but everything you need.Highly recommend.
- Carol (8/5): The George will certainly be our place to stay when visiting Windsor. - The location was perfect. Breakfast wasn't available at The George, but a lovely receptionist gave us names of places to go. The bear garden was beautiful with a lovely atmosphere. Although we had eaten at a party, the meals there looked delicious.
The rooms all had a fan, which was a godsend during the hot weather, and the family room included a lovely bed for my grandson, much better than a camp bed we had had at other locations. Although not really a problem we would have ordered breakfast had it been available.
- Giovanni (10/5): -
- Sophie (8/5): -
- sidney (10/5): Comfortable and friendly - The family room was roomy and comfortable. The proprietor was helpful and friendly, inviting us to order dinner at the downstairs pub when we arrived just at the close of kitchen hours. Nice atmosphere; would stay again. Everything was great!
- jay (10/5): - great location. old/quaint building but updated so clean and modern fixtures, etc
- Rickus Brandt (9/5): -
- Natalya (10/5): - They were incredibly helpful staff.
- Shane (8/5): Very quaint pub with accomodation upstairs. Great heating and comfy king bed. - Loved the location and access to the bar with fireplace and awesome Sunday roast. Water pressure in shower.
Noisy boiler room or heating unit on outside of room??
- David (8/5): Very comfy stay in a great location. -
- SALLY (9/5): GREAT STAY EASY ACCESS TO WINDSIR AND ETON - Very close to Windsor andEton Nothing
- Gedymina (6/5): - Lokalizacja Brak możliwości wcześniejszego niż przed 16.00 zostawienia bagażu
- Jane (7/5): A straight forward overnight stay, clean and comfortable. - The location was excellent for my visit to the Castle. The accommodation was very clean and functional for my short stay. No TV remote in my first room. The manager did a no quibble change of room and it was very good. No on site parking and the pay parking was expensive which was a negative point.
- Hannah (8/5): -
- Carolyn (10/5): Incredible staff and a stunning location. - Amazing location with a gorgeous view from the pub, across the bridge to Windsor Castle. But most of all, the staff were amazing. We arrived directly from NZ and discovered I’d left my handbag in the uber (containing passport, phone and wallet). Utterly distraught!! - and they were so incredibly helpful. They couldn’t have been more kind; I was blown away. Nothing to dislike per se. Rooms are very standard but comfortable - perhaps check for blown lightbulbs.
- Aiden (7/5): Noisy comfortable stay with headphones on - The room was comfortable and a larger space than the previous visit Too noisy, the pub environment that seemed out of control on the second night. I couldn’t get any food due to it being too busy.
- Toni (9/5): - It was clean and comfortable and amazing location . Nothing
- David (8/5): Great reasonable priced place to stay. - No breakfast option. Location was ideal and room very comfy.
- Peter (8/5): Good well priced option. - Friendly staff and great location. Double room was very small but perfectly fine for one night. A longer stay could have been a bit uncomfortable. Very little hanging space and no chair. Also no bedside light so have to get out of bed to turn overhead light off. On balance, good value for money and would stay again.
- Patrícia (10/5): -
- silvia (8/5): -
- Elaine (7/5): Great value, excellent location - An excellent value for money room, in a very good location and in an area that is notoriously pricey. Lovely friendly staff. The room was small and a bit tired – the communal areas are too. But for the money, it wasn't expected to be the Ritz. As others have said, investing a small amount in a bedside light would make the room a lot cosier.
- Stephen (3/5): - Location The room advertised as castle view, the view was obscured by the pub sign and other buildings so the view is very limited if you stand on your tiptoes you might get to see the top of the castle,
The room wasn't very clean I'm glad it was only for one night, the bed was very uncomfortable
- emilio (10/5): -
- Adam (10/5): 10/10 for value and location - A short walk over the bridge to Windsor, our accommodation was great! The bed was comfortable, the room was clean and shower hot. We did read reviews saying the street could get noisy but we just closed the window, so it wasn’t a problem.
- Fallon (10/5): -
- Nancy (7/5): Decent room , reasonable price, great location - Location great for visit to castle.
Reasonable rates
Tea/water/ cookies left in room They dont accept cash for food/ drink or room.
No separate entrance for hotel have to walk through bar
No food service when we arrived at 8:45 pm
- Grace D (10/5): Great value and location. Far surpassed most hotels in Windsor I stayed in. - The room I had on the first floor had a view of Windsor Castle and the Thames River. Very clean room. Room heater was great and the towel warmer in the bathroom was nice. Excellent location. Excellent value. Will stay here again. As with most hotels, carpets don’t do the room justice, as it’s stained and feels dirty even though it may be clean and vacuumed. This is the only general comment about hotels with carpet.
- chris (6/5): Basic but adequate - Good location fopr exploring Windsor and Eton Was a shame the didn't serve breakfats considering it is painted on the outside of the buiulding that B&B available.
- Hocking (8/5): Short break in lovely Windsor. - All staff where very pleasant and helpful.
Great location near the river and Windsor town/Castle and Eton.
Nice touch having cans of spring water. Tea coffees making facilities and pacts of biscuits. Small room, maybe benefit with some hooks to hang clothing.
- Melanie (7/5): -
- Mandy (8/5): -
- Sandra (7/5): Clean, sufficient, wonderful staff - Proximity to Windsor and Eton were great. Very walkable area. Quiet at night. It’s a bit dated but clean and sufficient for my needs. The narrow/steep stairs may be a challenge for some.
- Paul (10/5): Very enjoyable. - No breakfast provided. Location and room all good. No breakfast facilities, although this was not that crucial.
- Alexis (8/5): - Great location and comfy decent size clean room. Great local beer in the bar.
Thanks.
- Paul (8/5): -
- John (9/5): Great place, would stay again - The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. The room was small but clean and well presented and the bed was very comfortable and I had a great sleep until 7.15am. This was outside of the Georges' control but was awoken at 7.15am by a refuse truck directly outside emptying what sounded like the bottle bins. Was a bit annoying, especially early on a Sunday morning
- PAUL (1/5): Tiny room - Size of the room
- Bill (8/5): - The only down side was they no longer do breakfast which was very disappointing.
- Paula (9/5): Great old pub - Lovely old building with lots of character. The lady who checked me in was lovely and welcoming. The dinner I had was good (The George burger) my room was comfy and cosy, brilliant shower, tea and coffee AND water. The only 2 things wrong were, no hangers in the wardrobe and no reading lamp. Other than that it was good.
- Sandra (10/5): Lovely Inn - I booked this stay to celebrate my birthday visiting Windsor Castle, which is about 6 minutes walk from the Inn. It was a lovely experience. The staff was super friendly. The room was quiet. I couldn't hear the pub downstairs. The room was small but comfortable, actually was larger than it looks in the picture, and I had a slight view of the Castle. There's a lot to see around within walking distance. Thank you for a pleasant stay. Nothing. It was all good, I'm looking forward to book again when I get back to Windsor.
- Tracey (8/5): -
- Peter (9/5): Perfect place to stay. Third year -
- johnson (8/5): - The room was clean and tidy and ideal as a weekend stopover point for days out in Windsor. Needed windows opened for ventilation at night but regrettably there was a lot of noise from the street, obviously no fault of the pub.
- Gary (9/5): Great spot in Windsor - You couldn't find a better location for an OK price. Literally on the start of the footbridge across the Thames to the castle.
- Jorge (7/5): Average - Location The room was too small, no closets
- CLARE (8/5): -
- bev (10/5): Helpful staff, great location, comfortable room. - It was in a great location. A walk over a pedestrian bridge to Windsor. My room had a view of the Thames and Windsor Castle. Loved the atmosphere and enjoyed dinner in the pub. As it's a heritage building there is no lift.
- Martin (7/5): Small but cozy - Great location and a very comfortable bed
Pub food good They didn't clean the room
Shoer/Bathroom very small
Despite a HUGE sign outside saying BREAKFAST LUNCH DINNER they dont serve any at all
- Mark (8/5): - Good location, excellent beer, comfortable quiet room
- Sébastien (7/5): - L'emplacement, la vue sur le château. Plateau d'accueil apprécié. Mauvaise isolation intérieure et extérieure. Douche très chaude et impossible à régler.
- Carol (6/5): My room ok, but my friends - Position good My friend had a single room, when the person above had a shower, there was water running down the walls onto her pillow at 5 in the morning.
- Seyed Mohammadhossein (9/5): -
- Antony (6/5): -
- Carmen (9/5): - The George Inn is in a great location right beside the river. There is a great vibe around the place. The room I stayed in had a really good shower!
