- Louise (10/5): Didn’t disappoint - would recommend - We needed to use Tesco vouchers and decided to come to York. This was the best option in our budget and it didn’t disappoint. Great location, walking distance to the city. Clean, tidy and a welcoming property. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen provided tea, coffee and eggs for breakfast if required.
We were welcomed by Lilian who showed us around and explained how things worked and provided us with local knowledge to get about.
Couldnt fault the property. Would and return and recommend. Thank you.

Lillian met us at check in and we couldn't fault the apartment. It was spotlessly clean, comfortably furnished and well equipped. There was a quality welcome pack in the fridge and the apartment was warm. The best recommendation I can give this property is we would love to stay again

- Verified traveler (4/5): Disappointed family get together! - Despite offering arrival time, phoning and ringing on the ring doorbell a few times, workmen had to shout for the owner. Two other guests were kept waiting a long time the following day too, to the point we asked if they would like to use our facilities! My family were upset at the way the owner spoke to me when I offered to strip the beds for housekeeping! The pillows were covered in yellow stains so we were afraid to look at the state of the mattresses! When I raised this, no apology or partial refund was offered!

- M (10/5): Very comfortable apartment near York city centre - Very comfortable overnight in first-class apartment just outside York city centre. Everything we could possibly need was provided including welcome pack. Free off-street parking was a bonus. 15-20 minute walk to city centre with plenty of pubs and restaurants on the way, and a Sainsbury's Local just down the road. Highly recommended.

Well kept property inside. Genuinely a lovely place to stay. Whole family were happy with it. Nice views of the local playing field and bowling green out of the kitchen and bedroom windows too.
Would definitely recommend.
Please be aware, the top 2 apartments are let out for holiday rental. The bottom 2 apartments are permanently occupied. This is not an issue at all though.

- Stephen (10/5): - We came with 2 small children to spend the Christmas in York. Overall Poplar house is very comfy just like home. There are movies and books around the units. Kids have their own bed (one is a crib) in the same room with us. Walking distance (15-20 min) to most sights in town and a playground nearby. The host even recommended a car mechanic when we need to check our car.
It was a very lovely stay for us.

Very clean and perfect for our family stop in York. 10 minute walk to the centre of York. A really lovely touch to have breakfast goodies waiting for us ( muffins,jams, butter, milk, tea, coffee, eggs). Will definitely recommend and return.

Short walk to Bishy Road as stop off point walking in to city try the pig & pastry cafe, they even did vegan breakfast for our teenage daughter. Will return next time we visit York and already recommended to family.

Such a great location with easy walk into town. Close to the National Railway Museum as well, which was a dream for our two and a half year old. Cannot rate this property enough. We will be back!

The milk, eggs, muffins, butter and jam left for us were a lovely touch. We were pleased to have a coffee maker as well.
The accommodation was 10 minutes walk to the centre of York and having parking at Popular House was a bonus.
We would recommend to anyone visiting York for a weekend break.

- Verified traveler (10/5): - We recently stayed at Poplar House for 6 days and had a wonderful stay. The apartment is perfectly situated for exploring York on foot. It’s about a 10 minute walk to the city walls. The kitchen has everything needed for having meals in (there are small convenience markets nearby, or a large grocery store a short drive away). The washer is very convenient (however there is no dryer, so clothes must be hung dry on the rack). Overall the apartment was a very comfortable place to relax at the end of a long day out. We did not meet the owners, but Lilian communicated everything very well before our arrival. There are many travel brochures and books in the apartment, and the eggs/English muffins, milk & jams were nice upon arrival.

Small but highly functional kitchen with all the conveniences you’ll need. Separate living area where you can relax as well as a good sized bedroom & bathroom. Some essential groceries awaited our arrival and the host was friendly, professional and very knowledgeable about the local and city area. Off road parking in front was very convenient. 15 min walk to the city area. Essential to call the contact phone number upon arrival. Highly enjoyable. We would stay here again,
- Bill (10/5): Great location in York, UK - My wife and I stayed 10 days at Poplar House. It is in a safe and desireable part of York. Two Sainsburys grocery store are within quick walking distance. We walked to the city center everyday, which took about 20 minutes. But if you prefer, city buses are accessed close by. Intercity buses and trains are about 15 minutes walk at the train station. We took the train to Edinburgh for a day trip and arrived back in town about 10:30 pm. No worries about walking home at night. We stopped at a pub and had a late meal before arriving home about 11:30 pm. It was the perfect apartment for our York visit, with nothing but good memories.

Because we were out most of the time only coming back in the evenings children tired so that helped.
It's near children's play ground/park which is good. Sainsbury shop less than 1 mile away.
