The only drawback is that the rooms are very small, but everything else more than made up for it. The rooms were very clean, and the customer service was top notch from start to finish. The staff helped us schedule our tours and arrange transportation to Lake Atitlán, which made our trip so much easier. Breakfast was delicious, and the rooftop had a gorgeous view that made mornings even better. Overall, a wonderful place to stay in Antigua! Rooms are small

- Kevin (9/5): Made our Antigua experience so well and a lifelong memory. The views from the rooftop is a great plus!! - Location is superb!!! The staff were friendly and willing to help. The rooftop is gorgeous esp in a bright sunny day. Could use more light. You can hear the noise outside if your room is on the street side. But I still slept like a baby.

We had early morning events everyday so we missed breakfast but we ate dinner at the resturaunt one night and it was delicious! The view is awesome.

- Stéphanie (8/5): Superbe hôtel. - La localisation est parfaite! Les chambres sont belles et sont propres. La terrasse sur le toit est superbe. Nous avions une chambre King mais les photos n’étaient pas vraiment fidèles à la chambre reçue. La chambre était bcp plus petite que sur les photos et il n’y avait pas de divan pour s’asseoir. La chambre était très petite et pas de climatisation dans la salle de bain donc quand nous prenions une douche il y avait de la vapeur partout dans la chambre.

We objected as we expected a proper room with a window opening to fresh air. They said there was no other room available and refused to give us a refund. We went to another hotel.

- Beakal (5/5): Perfect location. Leaking roof and too small - Perfect location. Beautiful rooftop The room I had looked like they started building it and didn’t finish it. Very small and woke up to a pool of water because the roof was leaking. It continued to leak. I was checking it out that morning so I told them to leave it so I can shower and get on with my day. The room had no ventilation. After shower , I couldn’t use any of the mirrors because it fogged up. It would have been impossible for 2 people to stay in this show box. For the price I paid , that was unacceptable experience. Also the towels were old and yellowing.

- Juliette (10/5): Perfect place - The staff was incredibly attentive. We particularly enjoyed the rooftop restaurant, the breakfast with the view on the three volcanos was exceptional. We stayed three nights and it was the perfect duration to get the best of Antigua and surroundings. We booked a shuttle with them to Atitlan which went smoothly. I highly recommend this hotel! Our room was a bit small, and there was a very small window, but that’s because of the architecture. We didn’t really mind

The staff is lovely and helpful, and breakfast is superb. Terrace is beautiful. It really exceeded our expectations, and we were lucky to get a place here to spend NY!

- Delphine (7/5): Goed maar service en vriendelijkheid kon beter - We verbleven 2 keer 1 nacht in El Carmen hotel. Eerst hadden we een standaardkamer, basis maar wel oké. De tweede keer hadden we een triple room, deze was top. Locatie is fantastisch alsook het restaurant op het dak. Ontbijt top! Het hotel verloor veel punten omwille van het volgende: we reserveerden ruim op voorhand om kerstavond door te brengen bij hen mét diner. Bij aankomst de 24ste gingen we alvast een kijkje nemen. De tafels waren niet gedekt en ik stelde de vraag of de vuurtafels toch zouden aanliggen aangezien het fris was. Dit kon, voor de extra prijs van 100Q dus ongeveer 10 euro voor een uur. Dit vormde een zeer grote teleurstelling en dit twee keer aangegeven. We betaalden 850Q dus 90-95 euro voor een diner van 2 volwassenen en 1 kindje waar zelfs geen glaasje wijn of cava inbegrepen was én moesten nog betalen voor het vuur. Er werd niets gedaan aan mijn opmerking dat het toch erg is dat dit niet inbegrepen was. Tot overmaat van ramp had de over ons vergeten te laten aftekenen en gingen wij slapen, ons van geen kwaad bewust. Na 45min werd er aan de deur geklopt maar deden we niet open aangezien onze dochter sliep. Na 1u opnieuw geklop, stond de ober er meg het briefje om af te tekenen terwijl we er ‘s morgens opnieuw gingen ontbijten?

- Linpei (10/5): Fantastic hotel in Antigua old town - El Carmen hotel exceeded our expectations from all aspects. To start with, the staffs are very kind and helpful. Lily Ortiz from hotel's Tourist Information arranged us a very comfortable and sizable car to pick us up from Guatemala City to the hotel. We were nicely surprised the hotel sits right in the middle of the old town, 5 mins walk to the central plaza. The hotel is very beautiful, fits well with the Spanish colonial style of Antigua town. The room is spacious, beds comfortable, hot and clean shower and nice toilet. We ate both breakfast and dinner in hotel's rooftop restaurant. The scene is unbeatable. We can see three volcanos in one view, and the bell tower of the Cathedral. The food exceeds our expectations too. Not only they cook traditional food well but also all the western foods we are used to in United States. Even my children who are very picky with food love the food. From the hotel, we can walk to all the major scenarios by foot easily. Lily gave us an old town map and shown us all the place to go. In the last night of our stay, we watched the fireworks at the plaza and walked back within 10 mins. Very safe neighborhood. Oh, cross the street is the Casa de Jade, which has a museum and a workshop. Our family really enjoyed the workshop to make jade necklace ourselves. The staff's English is great. That's a big plus in Guatemala. We are also very nicely surprised by the cute animals the housekeepers made with towels. They are very ingenious and skillful. On our return trip, the driver who supposed to drop us off to the Guatemala City took his wife and kids with him. that was not very professional. The car was also not as good as the one that pick us up. It was a last minute change from the car company. I don't think it's the fault of El Carmen hotel whose staff apologized to us. But, they should have managed their vendor more carefully and don't get their vendor to ruin their reputation and their relationship with their customers.

- Jrujrito (7/5): Centrico, llegas a todos lados rápido - Es un hotel céntrico y muy bonito. Es una casa colonial reformada con unas habitaciones adaptadas al espacion. Una terraza arriba en la que puedes tener una buena perspectiva de Antigua Camas comodas y grandes. La habitacion es pequeña debido al espacio al igual que el baño, pero muy apañado Comercios y turisteo muy cercanos con lo cual la situación es lo qie mas se valora El personal: Las veces que habíamos desayunado dias anteriores, todo había ido bien, pero el último día fue un completo desastre. Tardamos 45 minutos en recibir nuestro desayuno. Tuve que levantarme a pedir que nos atendieran. Si la situación hubiera sido desbordante, lo entiendo perfectamente, pero teníamos a todos los camareros en la barrar entre risotadas, conversaciones y viendo la vida pasar desatendiendo completamente a los comensales. De ahí a que nos sirvieran lo ke habíamos pedido pues otra media hora. Por otro lado, yo entiendo que si hay algún desperfecto pagues por ello. Y nos ocurrió una situación con una toalla que quedó manchada de tinte, la cual nos ofrecimos a pagar sin problema en cuanto nos lo advirtieron. Pero lo que no puedes hacer el dia de check out es marear al cliente entre si pagas por esto, mientras lo interrogas cual espia descubierto y le preguntas hasta por la marca de los calcetines para después decir.. ahora no por que vamos a hacer una excepcion... Y de nuevo otra vez en tono amenazante y de mala gana por que tú tampoco lo tienes muy claro. Si hay que pagar se paga y si no no. Las medias tintas no y mas de tan malas maneras como se nos dijo. Trabajar de cara al público implica ser cortés y amable siempre que no te falten al respeto. Cabe destacar que solo nos ocurrió con una persona. El resto fue profesional y atento.
