Guest Reviews
- Ashley (4/5): Teleurstellend - Het ontbijt was prima.
Wij verbleven in twee aansluitende kamers.
- Toseef (10/5): - Personeel! Zwembad kon groter zijn
- Guruparan (10/5): - They provide amazing food. The location is peaceful surrounded with nature. Staff is super friendly and always there to help. They also provide bike and vehicle rentals. The room's floor and the walls are showing the age it could be improved.
- Jean-Michel (10/5): -
- Maguy (3/5): - Personnel accueillant Trop bruyant le soir, cris des grenouilles, chat qui miaule.
Salle de bain auquel est intégré les toilettes qui sent une forte odeur d 'urine.
- Ali (8/5): Very good - The food was great got to learn how to cook as well. Location
- Ouadia (7/5): Good - Very Expensive food
Breakfast, 👎
Very basic.
Location
- Suluan (6/5): Recommended for family stay or gathering - Quit Place & Friendly of the staff & Owner little bit far from City
- Byron (9/5): I would stay here again. Had everything I needed 😊 - Property was in a good location for my specific needs. LOVE that my villa was at the back of the property on the little river. Was such a beautiful sound to wake up to in the morning and the jungle views was beautiful too. Really yummy food at the restaurant. Bathroom smelt a bit moldy.
- Melissa (10/5): Excellent highly recommend - We had stayed here as it was close to a local Balinese wedding we were attending. The staff were excellent even helping us tie up our sarongs for the weddings as we weren't really sure how to do it. They even picked us up from the wedding doing trips to make sure we all got home safe.
Excellent clean rooms, comfy beds and pillows, staff were amazing. We had breakfast only here but the chef advised we could order whatever we wanted off the menu - my partner ordered the crispy duck and highly recommend. The food was unreal and nothing was to much to ask. A couple of cockroaches and bugs in rooms but as expected with the surroundings. Did not turn us off here.
- Pollock (9/5): Perfect and Peaceful - This is a great property. Rooms were a good size. Aircon was great and overall really comfortable.
Great pool. Very peaceful. Food was really god and stay were excellent.
Very quiet location, but was perfect for what we had planned
Next visit we will book in for their cooking class Steep stairs done to room which were a little dangerous
- Elsa (10/5): Great people and stay - Great team, food and hotel. We arrived for spending 2 nights we ended up spending 4. All our tours were planned from there by the team, we enjoyed half of the menu and everything was delicious, we were really happy to stay there and would go back and recommend it. Enjoy!
Ps: as for the location it is a bit far from the city center but easy to access by grab.
- Shasha (8/5): Lovely villa and extremely friendly staff! - The staff was extremely friendly! Room was big and clean. Food was great and reasonably priced! Highly recommend the cooking class the owner provided! It's close to the nature, so occasionally there are bugs and ants visiting our room - but that's understandable :)
- Constantinos (9/5): Superb -
- Shaiza (8/5): Very good -
- Junko (5/5): Close to the school so it was good. - Staff was so friendly and kind .
food and juice was good. Door didn't close properly....
Water of the shower was cold, it's the very bad point...
- Yin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cameron (8/5): Great stay, would 100% reccomend! - The room and the complex it self is amazing, very tranquil and relaxed. The resteraunt is great, with a variety of options that all taste great. The whole team there are super friendly too, happy to help with absolutely anything. The rooms are comfy too, with the air con working great at all times. Everything was great, however, the location is a little remote. Not a problem if you want a more relaxed experience :)
- Prathiksha (8/5): Very good -
- Martyn (8/5): A very relaxing 3 days at a very peaceful retreat - The property is very well maintained with all the facilities you would need. The owner is an exceptional chef so meals were of a high quality. The owner is also more than happy to do tour’s and act as a taxi driver. The location is remote which May suit some people but when in hotel don’t expect any nearby bars, restaurants etc you have to travel 20 mins to Ubud for that.
- Gilly (3/5): Poor -
- Lotte (10/5): THE perfect experience when you’re visiting Ubud - BEST stay in Ubud! We highly recommend to sleep and eat here. Take the suite room, it has a private spacious balcony and the room is amazing. We were planning to stay only a few nights, but we enjoyed this place so much that we extended for days.
Santika (manager) and his team make you feel like home. They are super warm and friendly people and their service is excellent. Everything is very well arranged, the rooms are designed with charme, extremely comfortable and clean.
The accommodation includes a Warung with high quality food (they also offer cooking classes). The area is perfect: calm vibes, in between the rice fields and local lifestyle. A drive to the centre only takes 15 minutes.
Thank you Santika and team for taking care of us! We won’t forget :)
Warm regards,
Lotte & Moise Nothing
- Chan (9/5): Good atmosphere, nice view, great service and delicious food 👍🏽 -
- Jane (8/5): We will be back - The food is very good. The staff are nice.
- Sean (7/5): Good - Dinning area, great view and cooling breeze, excellent cooking and very quite, lovely paddy fields all round, real village life
- Maike (9/5): Superb - I Nyoman is a fantastic host - and also a lovely guide and amazing chef!
- Teja (10/5): Loved staying at Pensantian villa with amazing staff and exceptional food. - A beautiful and very clean place, very magical. Wonderful hosts and super friendly staff. The cook was absolutely exceptional. It is also a great location, a bit away from craziness of Ubud ... but still a nice quick drive into Ubud. We loved it.
- Sesse (8/5): Satisfied - This is my favourite hotel in Bali. Very sweet and polite staff. It’s kind of like one big happy family.
They make REALLY good Balinese food. Lots of flavours and taste. And for fair prices.
the location is a bit remote, but for me that was okay.
Big room and big bathroom Unfortunately our room was next to a rooster house🐓 and the rooster made noise all night and morning. But if you’re not sensitive or have some earplugs it should be fine.
Also, the room service was kind of lazy, no new towels or soap.
- Thomas-michael (9/5): Superb - The Pesantian Villa and Warung was a very clean and cozy place to stay near Ubud.
The room had everything you need, was cleaned every day and had some nice Interieur.
In general all the people there we're very nice and lovely, especially the owner who helped us to organize a lot of things like transfer, motorbike and laundry service.
The food from the kitchen ist really good as Well :)
We really enjoyed the stay in Ubud at Pesantian Villa and Warung :) You need to plan about 20 mins with the Scooter to get to Ubud.
- Camilo (6/5): Maybe for you but not for me. - Staff was very nice, this is kind family place. Relaxing. Far from the center, to take a grab o taxi took me one hour, if you don’t rent a moto bike it’s pretty difficult the move from there.
- Catherine (10/5): Amazing, Relaxing, Delicious! couldn’t have asked for anything more. - This property was so peaceful and relaxing.
The owners and staff so warm and welcoming, they looked after us so well!!
We were a little bit out of Ubud town but could hire a bike at the property and the owner ‘SANTIKA’ was able to transport us in the ‘Pesantian’ car when we required.
‘SANTIKA’ an amazing chef, allowed us to book for his fabulous cooking class teaching us some Indonesian cooking secrets, Delicious!!
it was so much fun and highly recommended!!!
- Aqil (10/5): we came on our honey moon and it was fantastic - the staff was brilliant. absolutely faultless. budix you are a amazzing man I will never forget the great service nothing
- Lucia (7/5): This place is nice in case you want to escape from the busy streets of Ubud. - The property is far away from the rush of Ubud, it’s in the middle of rice fields. The location, you basically need a scooter to travel as you are far away from Ubud, however closer to some attractions.
- Amram (8/5): It was great place and anazing service but a little far away from Ubud, but was totally worth it 🙃 -
- Kumari (8/5): Very good -
- Martin (10/5): Excellent-friendly stuff and owner who can get you the service you need! - The staff and the owner were awesome. I did not have time to plan everything, but it was as easy as asking the owner to book a ferry, to set up a taxi for the next day, or to book a tour guide and he did it all for us! That was just awesome!
The place is little bit far from the center which is a good thing (quite, no parties,...) and a bad thing (you need to get a taxi to get everywhere). The warung was good but when you stay four or five days, by that time you literally have tried every single dish from the menu. This is rather a fact that may happen even in 4* hotels in Kuta or Sanur, so it's really understandable in a small villa in the counter side.
Sometimes you find little ants everywhere, but it's just normal for this kind of tropical fauna & flora.
- Pei (10/5): room is very clean,staff are very friendly,food is quite delicious,very tranquil atmosphere - staff,pool,food
- Anneleen (9/5): Superb - Very kind host! We had a very good dinner!!!
I liked the homemade jam a lot.
- Eveline (10/5): Amazing care-free days with delicious food - Everything was amazing at Pesantian. They are the kindest people ever. The place is beautiful and Santika and the other staff will help you with everything you need. They offer an amazing cooking class as well, which I really recommend. The location is very peaceful and close to nature nothing.
- Moeko (8/5): If you want to stay at hidden gem, this is the place in Ubud 😊 - overall very good! it’s outside of Ubud so you definitely need a scooter to go to Ubud. You can rent a scooter at hotel. Their restaurant is so good, must try! and their dogs and cats are super adorable 🤍 you can enjoy a quiet suburb area outside of city centre with a nice rice field view at front 😊 the location is just a little far from Ubud. If you can ride a scooter, it’s not too bad. but still take about 20-30mins to get to city center by scooter.
- Caroline (9/5): Beautiful villa, accommodating and friendly staff. Wonderful food and cooking class was amazing. - Santika and his staff were amazing. Bedrooms were lovely and cleaned daily. Pool was refreshing and kept clean. Meals were delicious. Cooking class given by Santika was fantastic, we had so much fun. Santika was an excellent host, he walked us through his part of the village and on request, took us out for the day sharing his knowledge and skill. Quiet location amongst local people. It was a little way from Ubud so we had to rely on cars/drivers to get around.
- Benevolentia (9/5): Stay here for quite calm stay ! Take your bare foot to walk in the rice paddy field ! - Please try to eat at their restaurant, the food is perfectly cook, delicious, amazing chef, all the dishes that we ate for our 4 days stay all of them are delicious. the duck dish is over the top my favorite !Take their cooking class ! I love it ! There is no tub in the bathroom 😔
- Nika (7/5): Would not recommend - the owner was friendly, but when we wanted to switch rooms he said it is no problem until the day after the suddenly said that he forgot or couldn’t close the room online, so someone booked it. The welcome was also not pleasant since the cleaners did not speak good English and left us waiting with little to no explanation that they are still cleaning the room. The location is also waaay to far away from Ubud. The pool was dirty hand had a spider in it.
- Martin (7/5): Great hotel but it's far from ubud town - Nice designed rooms
Really nice and clean pool
Super friendly owner and helpful staff
Good base from which to go to Tagallalang rice terraces or nearby waterfalls. - Location is very far from Ubud - 25 mins on the moped. There's no decent restaurants nearby so be prepared to eat at the hotel (nice but expensive and no vibe) or do the journey....
- Chantell (10/5): WOW from start to finish! - We booked the Suite with Balcony originally for 3 days, but one look at our lush room and stunning surroundings and we immediately extended to 6!
We've been in Bali for 3 months and this was the first place we felt like we were really on holiday! FINALLY!! The photos actually and accurately match their property. And honestly, don't even do it justice. This place is gorgeous. 3 months and we found our favourite stay in every way.
Ari and Santika are the sweetest hosts. They truly care about what they do, from comfort, to experiences, to convenience, to food. There is nothing they won't do to make sure you're stay is as perfect as it can be!
They welcome you to their HOME and their hearts, not just their hotel. And in the way that family provides warmth, friendship, safety and comfort.
They are so friendly, warm and hospitable. Santika shows interest and asks questions about you, where you're from, what you're doing that day, what you've seen, etc, because he GENUINELY cares, and he wants to know you're having the best time at his property. The level of hospitality, passion and consideration is better than even some of the 5* luxury resorts we've been to.
The views are spectacular. From our villa we had a private porch looking out into the forest. The comfort of their beds is awesome. We had our best sleeps here! The pool is gorgeous, cold and refreshing. Just what you need after lazing in the sun on their comfy sun loungers.
Don't get us started on the food! The quality, the freshness, the time, the taste, the presentation! If we weren't out, we ate here every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It was that good! Santika's an excellent chef and his dishes are exquisite! We had everything on the menu. His supporting staff are so on it! They're brilliant, and don't skip a beat in regards to the hospitality here. We have no negative points to raise here.
- Jan (10/5): Exceptional - The villa is half an hour drive from Ubud and we intentionally decided that we do not want to stay in the city. The villa is situated in the middle of great nature (ricefields and palmtrees) and has everything you need and a little bit more. Even more importantly, the host and his famaly are amazing. He was very engaged and carrying the whole time. We also did a cooking class at the venue that tought us to cook indosesian style food. All in all, a perfect stay!
- Fang (10/5): Excellent - Mr Santika is great! He does all his best to help me, everybody in the hotel is friendly and helpful. Staying here you can really enjoy a quiet real Ubud! Highly recommend
- Gabriel (10/5): Exceptional - nice and clean, restaurant upstairs was amazing, the best ribs I have ever had !
- Hahn (7/5): Nice but overpriced - We loved the surrounding and nature of it. Whenever we drove into the city with the scooters it was a beautiful ride along rice fields and so relaxing. We also appreciated our hosts took care of our hunger on silent day and our laundry!! Also, this might not matter to other travelers, but the hosts have two adorable dogs and cats and you can feel how great and loving they treat them .It warmed my heart. :) We felt like everything was overpriced. Yes, it is not a lot of money for a hotel room with daily room cleaning but seriously other, similar places are much more affordable. Even their scooters and warung were really overpriced.
- Lucas (9/5): Superb - Great food by chef Santhika
- Eric (8/5): friendly staff - friendly staff and quiet place this place needs a bit of work.. broken chairs, paint.. but still nice for the value
- Brogan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jesse (9/5): Superb - + Rooms were nice and spacious
+ AC, fridge and ceiling fan
+ Beautiful countryside location
+ Owners and staff were really nice and helpful
+ Near the waterfalls
+ Good breakfast
+ They got two dogs and two cats around which was cute
+ Owners can drive you around or get you a taxi or tour guide - No hairdryer
- Far away, cant get taxis from apps
- Some noise at night from animals and other customers
- Tatiana (10/5): Exceptional - Santika and his family provide the most welcoming and warm environment possible. Their restaurant has stunning views of the rice paddies and the food is delicious. It’s a little outside of the hustle and bustle of Ubud which adds to its tranquil charm. Really, a special place.
P.S. The rooms are huge and very well-maintained!
- Luca (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful house, very kind staff, excellent restaurant. The ideal place for who wants to relax and visit the internal areas.
The owner was also our driver and tour guide around Bali. Everything good
- Katie (10/5): Perfect - Me and my family loved our stay! Pesantian is a beautifully ran family buisness. We had to book last minuet due to our prior accommodation not being ok. We were made to feel welcome as soon as we arrived and after our long day of travel we had a beautiful Turmeric and ginger drink made for us. The room was perfectly clean, the bed was so comfy and the rooms Aircon was very strong which is perfect in the heat. We had a scooter there avaliable for rent and helmets and waterproofs provided too! We truly can't give pesantian any more praise, we stayed for 3 days and next time we come to ubud we will definitely stay again. We were treated as part of the family, with breakfast made for us every morning which was beautiful and we had support with everything we needed! We will miss the whole family untill we stay again!
Thankyou Pesantian ❤️
- Bhavisha (9/5): Superb - Villa is in a small village, peaceful location with nice rice field walks around the villa. Bedrooms were spacious, clean, with comfortable beds and very good bathroom facilities. The family were welcoming and hospitable. It was very relaxing. Many mosquitoes and bugs, but thats most places in bali!
Grab or gojek bikes may not pick you up from the villa due to distant location to ubud centre or other places.
- Felicity (10/5): Perfect place to stay in Ubud! - This was a lovely peaceful place to stay close to everything in ubud. Our host and his family were so helpful - they reopened the restaurant on our first night so we could have dinner, as well as offering a free shuttle service to see things in the area, such as the monkey forest and waterfalls etc. They were all so friendly, and so were their two adorable dogs!
The food was delicious, so we ate there two out of the three nights we stayed. Particularly recommend the crispy duck dish.
The room had a very comfortable bed and was very clean, spacious and stylish. We had a great nights sleep here as it was so comfy and quiet.
Our host went out of his way to help us, even driving us to our next destination. He also made us pancakes and French toast for breakfast even though they weren’t on the menu.
10/10 would recommend to anyone visiting Ubud!
Thank you :)
- Jona (10/5): Exceptional - It is a really Quite and pretty Place. The owner is such a Kind and nice Person, his Restaurant upstairs is really Good. We felt very welcomed and comfortable there. Big room, Comfy bed, pretty bathroom and the view over the Rice fields there is Amazing! The Pool is also very nice and clean. Would definitely Stay here again and are so thankful That we found this Place !
- Ian (10/5): - The setting of the property amongst rice paddies in a small village and having one of Bali’s great cooks as the owner means delicious food on tap. I come for the peace and quiet.
- Christie (10/5): Peace, Quiet & Great Food - I had the most wonderful stay at Pesantian in January with Santika, his wife and wonderful staff....if you’re looking for something peaceful and tranquil out of the hustle and bustle of Ubud then this is it! It’s in the middle of the rice fields, beautiful sunsets, and complete darkness and quiet at night. They have a small pool and restaurant on site that has great Balinese food! I loved everything I ate and the fresh juices and tea were the best. And then for a small fee Santika will drive you to all the sites you want to see, it’s about a 20 min ride to Ubud city where he dropped me off and I spent the day exploring. he also took me to a the Bali swing, a temple, etc. I was a solo traveler and he drove me on his motor bike everywhere, which was such a fun authentic experience! Him and his wife were so friendly and accommodating it’s an amazing place to completely disconnect and relax. If you’re looking for more activities and things to do on site this isn’t the place for you but if you want a place to unwind and relax and live more like a local, in nice accommodations this is for you!
- Sue (8/5): Seriously good food - If you're looking for somewhere quiet just out of Ubud, among the rice fields, I highly recommend this Villa. Staff very obliging, rooms are excellent and food seriously good. We also did the cooking class, a great experience. Only negative was the pool was a little too cold for us.
- mark (8/5): Ricefield Gourmet - Great stay....cooking class is really worth doing.....owner (chef) and wife are making every effort to make your stay a great experience..... a little far from Ubud though there is a shuttle....it is really a case of what you want to get out of your visit...obviously worked for ...couple in their 60's.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Okay but very different - Very isolated from Ubud. Staff exceptionally nice. Room quite small, new but musty. Eaten alive by bugs even with Windows fully closed. Good food but rural setting not what we were looking for
