A really super place to stay. Highly recommend! Minor, but windows could be a little clearer in bedrooms so you can enjoy the view a touch more.

Otroligt trevlig och omhändertagande personal, de löste alla önskemål vi hade med ett leende. Maten var dessutom fantastisk! Litet familjärs hotell, vi k mommer mer än gärna tillbaka till denna lilla del av paradiset. Hårda sängar, men är säker på att personalen ordnat även det om vi sagt till :-)

• Inna29 (5/5): Great Service, Facilities Need Renovation - The location is excellent and quiet, with direct access to the beach. Both the breakfast area and our room had an ocean view, and the à la carte breakfast was very good. The hotel team is excellent and very professional. We stayed one night in room 103. The entrance and dining area are not very inviting and the room feels very dated—the hotel clearly needs major renovations. The room and bathroom did not feel clean, and the towels were grayish rather than white. I don’t understand why most reviews rate it a 10. In its current condition, the property feels closer to a 2.5 star standard.

Fantastic swimming pool area, right next to the beach, and an excellent restaurant on site. Highly recommend for a relaxing stay with everything close by.

• Aastha (10/5): - Lovely and serene location, great food joints available near by. The beach is right in front, you can hear it through the night. The pool manager Saugath is a charming person to have around, always on his toes to help and assist. The rooms and lovely and spacious. Food variety for breakfast is great too, some more vegetarian options can be excellent. English communication isn't a problem at all. All the staff behaves kindly and will surely return.
• Imbulana (8/5): A good place for a family holiday. - As a beachfront hotel, it was so good to spend a night with my family. A comfortable, large room with all the required amenities. Staff was courteous and friendly. Cleanliness of the outer area, esp access to the beach, was not properly maintained. There was little flexibility in the dinner or the breakfast menus. No alcohol available. At least, there should be beer and cocktails.

L'emplacement à l'entrée du centre ville est idéal, face à la mer. Les chambres sont spacieuses, confortables et très propres. Le petit déjeuner est très très copieux et d'une très grande qualité, comme le personnel de l'hôtel : très professionnel et gentil. Le prix est peut être un peu trop élevé. J'espère que l'argent est bien reparti entre le personnel car il le mérite ! Nous comptons sur vous boss

Супер индивидуальный подход, так как отель очень маленький, всего 6 номеров) места на лежаках всегда были, да и их каждый день для нас украшали цветами!!!😍 Очень красивые, просторные номера с шикарным видом! Океан потрясающий, чистый пляж! Очень вкусные завтраки🤤 Мы даже продлевали проживание, чтобы покайфовать в этом отеле подольше, и остались на местное Рождество, которое было очень семейным, уютным. Столы поставили прям на пляже, был потрясающий ужин и даже Санта раздавал подарки 🎁 Обязательно сюда еще вернемся, самый лучший отель в Хиккадуве)
• Ed (9/5): Een heerlijk hotel met een fantastische service - Fantastische service, we zijn echt in de watten gelegd. Ook een prachtige kamer met een schitterend uitzicht. Het zwembad was top en je loopt zo het mooie strand op. Kortom een heerlijk verblijf om te relaxen. Alles was goed, het eten en ontbijt was ook heerlijk. Omdat het hotel klein is, is het s’avonds mijns inziens wat te stil/rustig. Gelukkig is er voldoende vertier op loopafstand.

• Oliver (9/5): Eine schöne ruhige Unterkunft zum ausspannen! - Tolle Lage an ruhigerem Strandabschnitt, super sauberer Pool, sauber und gepflegt und sehr nettes Personal. Die Zimmer sind schön eingerichtet und das Bad ist sehr stylisch, etwas Boutique. Alle Zimmer haben Meerblick. Man war hinsichtlich ein paar kleinerer Mängel sehr hilfsbereit und bemüht. Die Anlage macht teils einen etwas abgenutzten Eindruck (einzelne Möbel mit Defekten, teils fehlt die Deko an Wänden, man sieht aber noch, dass da mal was hing). Es scheint alles 1-2 Gänge runtergeschalten, aber immer noch sehr schön. Das Essen hat uns nicht überzeugt und die Wartezeiten auf das Essen waren unüberbietbar. Trotzdem ein sehr schöner Aufenthalt.

• Nuno (10/5): A simple boutique hotel at a great location and served with a kind and committed team. - Location is a 10/10, specially for families, a little tucked away from the hassle of main Hikkaduwa beach. But we need to highlight the team. The level of committed service was incredible. The team had unmatchable attention to detail making our children feel safe and welcome. As an example, we spent two nights during Christmas season and the team prepared a special dinner along with many treats and small gifts for our children. As they realized we had a little girl that loved her time in the pool, they went out to buy a nice flamingo-shaped buoy for her. Rooms have good areas and are furnished in a minimal beach-style done with good taste.

• Johanna (10/5): Wunderschöner Aufenthalt – wir kommen definitiv wieder! - Wir haben uns in diesem Hotel von der ersten Sekunde an sehr wohlgefühlt. Durch die wenigen Zimmer (nur 6) herrscht eine sehr familiäre und persönliche Atmosphäre. Das Personal ist außergewöhnlich freundlich und aufmerksam. Das Essen war hervorragend – besonders das Silvesterbuffet war ein echtes Highlight, inklusive tollem Feuerwerk. Die Lage ist perfekt, direkt am Strand, mit einem großen und sehr schönen Pool. Die Zimmer waren äußerst sauber und geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Wir würden jederzeit sofort wieder hier Urlaub machen und können das Hotel uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen!

• Tatjana (9/5): Schönes Hotel mit perfekter Lage - Die Zimmer (Junior Suite) sind sehr schön, alles war super sauber und der Roomservice war aufmerksam. Es hat sehr gut gerochen nach dem Säubern. Der Poolinstandhalter Sugath ist sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Er versucht einem jeden Wunsch zu erfüllen. Das Frühstück und Abendessen waren okay, nichts besonderes aber lecker. Der Manager kam regelmäßig um das Befinden zu erfragen. Besonders positiv war, dass wir am letzten Tag bis abends den Pool nutzen konnten und unser Gepäck aufbewahrt wurde. Dusche und WC steht am Poolbereich zur Verfügung. Das Personal bei Frühstück und Abendessen spricht schlecht englisch. Es gibt keine Liegen am Strand.

Mieren en salamanders in de kamer. Want voor een 5 sterren niet zou mogen. Maar kom we komen uit Europa en moeten er niet zo moeilijk over doen zeker... ( Was het antwoord van 1 personeelslid...) Rat en kakkerlak in de gang. De kakkerlak heeft er 2 volle dagen gezeten. Maar de gang is wel openlucht. Maar dan nog ik herhaal 5 sterren. Zeer duur voor wat je krijgt..

Das komplette Hotel war zu jedem Zeitpunkt gepflegt und sauber. Unser Zimmer war ein Traum mit atemberaubender Aussicht aufs Meer. Das Frühstück war super lecker. Insbesondere das nach sri-lankischer Art ist zu empfehlen. Wir würden definitiv wieder kommen. -

• Libor (10/5): We would love to come back here. - Hotel with a family atmosphere. Exclusive breakfast, fruit, selection of European or local cuisine, pastries and more. Always very pleasant service. The entire staff took perfect care of us, from room service, to the pool, the pool attendant, the chef who personally asked how we wanted to prepare the food, the reception and especially the hotel manager, who, for example, prepared a great dinner of fresh fish, seafood and their typical dishes for us within the hotel at our request. He always helped us with all our questions and wishes. The hotel is in a quiet place, when we were walking around the city, this hotel is ideally located. Since we want to return to Sri Lanka and travel, we will include this hotel in our places where we will stay and relax. ---

• DRans (10/5): Beautiful stay right by the beach - We absolutely loved our stay at the Roman Beach Hotel. It's location right by the beach with the pool, the beautifully designed rooms overlooking the beach, the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff, and the tasty breakfast spread were all exceptional. We were able to go on a nice walk along the beach during sunset. The hotel is also close to a number of good restaurants and shops. Highly recommend!

• Dinesh (10/5): A Peaceful Getaway with Great Service and Exceptional Value - We had a wonderful stay at Roman Beach Hotel. The service was exceptional and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. The food was another highlight — delicious, with large portions that really exceeded expectations. The hotel wasn’t crowded, which made the atmosphere very relaxing. Our room was spacious, clean, and well-maintained. It does show a bit of age, but nothing that affects comfort. We also had a jacuzzi in the room, which was a nice touch. The Wi-Fi worked perfectly — we were able to stream Netflix and YouTube without any lag. There was no TV in the room, possibly removed for repairs. Also, since we were on the top floor, the water pressure was a bit low. The location is right on the beachfront, but the beach itself is almost non-existent as the sea comes very close to the property. However, Narigama Beach is just a short 30-meter walk away and is much better for a beach experience. Overall, it was a really enjoyable and comfortable stay. Exceptional value for money. Would definitely recommend!

• Bmc33 (9/5): A small but very comfortable hotel with exceptional service and food. - Roman Beach is a small hotel but with a high staff ratio so the service is exceptional and is clearly a focus of the staff. Breakfast is feast and is individually prepared - not a buffet. The menu for lunch and dinner provides a wide selection of Sri Lanka and western food. The chef will quite often come out and talk to you about special dishes he can prepare. We stayed in a large room which was very comfortable. The bathroom was also large with a good array of toiletries. The AC worked well and there is also a ceiling fan. The property has a great pool and also has direct access to the beach. It has all the ingredients for a very relaxing holiday. One minor improvement would be a wider selection of wine.

• Rohan (10/5): Amazing staff, Amazing hospitality, amazing view from room, amazing locations and good food - Right from entering this hotel till the time we checked out all we experienced is endless warm hospitality. The staff here is so warm throughout the day. They will never say No to any of your requests. The next best thing is the view from the hotel and the location. The beach is directly connected to this hotel and if walk in the beach you will find many beach shacks and restaurants near by. The WiFi connection was far better than other stays that I had in Sri Lanka. Also, the food here was good. The chef here also served customized out of the menu items. We just have to tell him what we like and what we are looking for and also he has his suggestions. Over and all it was a very good experience.

Thanks to Kolani, Varna, Suppon, Ashit, & Sugath and the others that I didn’t get their names. Suppon made a lovely meal for me on my last night, thank you again. Breakfast is a feast & plentiful, it’s Al la Carte which I like but I couldn’t have all 3 courses! The pool is really well kept and looks into the beach. The location is ideal if you don’t want be central as it’s an easy walk along the beach. Any issues were resolved promptly. The staff really can’t do enough for you

They bring you one. Need a table for a drink? It’s already on its way. The welcome was super warm. The chef & food - I don’t believe there is anything they would not find for you if you fancied it. The chef came out while we ordered which was of so much value to us as he gave recommendations, they did not disappoint!! It makes such a difference to be able to give compliments to the chef face to face. The room - clean, spacious, gorgeous views, bathrooms lovely & the body wash smelt delicious. The welcome flowers on the bed were gorgeous. Everything was great - underrated spot

• David (1/5): We had paid for seven nights but decided to leave after three - The room and the balcony were spacious, with a view over the pool to the sea. * The sheets the first night were splattered with dried blood; we found what may have been a dead bed bug. * When the chef came to see us before we left, his white jacket was covered in stains and dark with grubby dirt - what was his kitchen like? * Breakfasts would have been comical if they and the coffee were not so bad. Whether we wanted it or not, they finished with 'dessert', typically several rock-hard waffles piled on top of one another. * No alcohol available - though if we asked for a bottle of beer, a waiter would get on his bike to go to find one elsewhere. * No steps to the beach, just a difficult path down to the sand. * Very poor value for money. Many top hotels in Colombo charge a lot less. So did a brilliant small hotel further along the coast we stayed at for our first week.
• Melissande (9/5): Peace & quiet with a view in Hikkaduwa - The location is perfect. You can enjoy the peace and quiet but still can reach restaurants and bars through a walk on the beach. Whenever you are on your balcony, in the pool, or in the restaurant, you can still enjoy the beautiful view of the sea. In addition to the wonderful staff, we can say that it was a great place to stay.
• Verified traveler (10/5): The best hotel with a view we have stayed in. - We wanted a relaxing and peaceful holiday with a pool and view and good service. This hotel didn’t disappoint us. There are only six rooms so the service was personal and exceptional. The hotel is located at the quieter end of the Hikkadawa stretch of beach which suited us. The livelier bars and hotels were only a short walk away too. There are buses every five minutes just outside that took us to the Tsunami museum one day and Galle Fort another for about 50p each, each way. Great fun and very easy to do. The hotel chef was eager to please and show off his skills and we loved the food there. Some meals had to be ordered in advance and some took a while to come as they are all freshly cooked to order. No mass menu from freezer to microwave here! We can highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants an authentic Sri Lankan service and not a big 5* chain that could be anywhere in the world.

• Suzanne (8/5): Very nice - Beautiful pool area and the pool man and gardener were amazing. In a very quiet area. Receptionists were lovely and polite. Some communication issues with waiters getting things right. Overall I think this hotel is quite expensive for what you get.

Perfect location just out of the hustle and bustle but walking distance to Hikkaduwa town and Turtle beach. Hotel staff so friendly and welcoming. Mr Supun the chef and assistant manager was exceptional. His culinary skills amazing taking the time to suggest and prepare bespoke dishes some of the best we had throughout our holiday across Sri Lanka. Sugarth made sure everything was perfect for a day round the pool a lovely funny gentleman. Warna the manger took time to chat and ensure everything was to our satisfaction. Truly a great team would definitely recommend and would love to return. Only 6 rooms which makes it a friendly home from home. Don’t hesitate to book Thank you Nothing everything perfect
• Peter (9/5): A special place to enjoy Sri Lanka’s best - private atmosphere, quiet environment, fantastic view from our balcony…and a excellent staff. Dinner was the daily highlight. The cook - Mr. Supun - is a master in cooking: the variety and preparation of the food was special. We didn’t have to look for restaurants. And the staff serving the food was at the same level. Just extraordinary! The first two days water wasn’t hot.

Acces directly from the hotel. Staff was really nice, breakfast and dinner were great. Last night the chef prepared a special dinner for us next to the sea with fresh fish and seafood. Wonderful experience. Totally recommended!

• Lilia (10/5): The best value for money in Hikkaduwa - The hotel is small and cozy located right on the beach. The size of the room is generous and they were cleaned well. We had some amazing food at the restaurant: banana pancakes, fruits, curd, lobster with seafood, kottu. The attention and services the staff gives is unparalleled in all my travels - they will give you flowers when you make photos, escort you to car at 4am, run to give you umbrella or help with moving sun beds. Thanks to all people that made our stay so joyful and memorable and sorry that I forgot your names so I can mention you. The reception is often left unattended and seemed only one person can operate the POS terminal so that we can pay for the room, however all issues we had were sorted out. Some of the food in restaurant was not great - extremely dry white fish, shrimps that looked and tasted old and hard to chew. Most of the staff's English is sufficient but I had the feeling they do not understand all that I say. The hotel is 4* but do not expect same standard as in US/EU: sheets are clean but have stains, there is mold on the wall next to A/C, cracks on the sink, no sunbeds on the beach - only single umbrella. Wifi is OK but seemed to have a firewall that was preventing me to connect to company's VPN, so I couldn't work from the hotel.
• Megg (8/5): Peaceful, calm, nice rooms, friendly staff. - Really quiet, peaceful area of hikkaduwa. Not far from restaurants and hotels. 2 minutes from the centre in a tuk tuk. The food was a little bit overpriced.
• Christa (10/5): Loved this Hotel! - We absolutely loved this hotel from start to finish. We had a beautiful room with sea view, the pool was fantastic, the food was the best we've eaten in Sri Lanka, but what made it for us were the staff here were just outstanding. Each and every member of the team worked so hard to make their guests happy. They greeted us with smiles, were helpful and so very friendly. The manager Warna is wonderful, couldn't do enough and we loved our chats with him. Sugath's smiles around the pool, attentive at every moment to us and kind to our daughter, getting drinks, towels and balls for the pool (he even cleaned our tuk tuk rental for us!) Sampath was courteous at meal times, explaining the different dishes and Kalani made us welcome from the start as did all the staff here who helped with our bags and kept our room wonderfully clean, I wish I could name each individually as they all deserve a mention! We ate at the hotel as the chef took the time to talk with the guests and he put my mind at rest that he would serve Sri Lankan food that wasn't too spicy for us. The food was wonderful! It was a pleasure to stay and eat here. Overall, with only 6 rooms the hotel feels peaceful, it's quiet around the pool and beach, but it's not too far from the main town for the restaurants and shops. Pool is perfect with shady spots during the heat of the day, plenty of sun loungers and right on the beautiful beach. Rooms were bright and spacious with great air con comfy beds and a huge bathroom and balcony. We couldn't have wanted for more. Thanks to all of you for making the last 3 nights of our holiday very memorable! I hope we can return to Hikkaduwa and Roman Beach Hotel. Wished we could have stayed longer!

• Sandra (9/5): Fantastic service - a lovely stay - The service of every member of staff was excellent and this is what we will remember about our stay. Sampath looked after us very well at meal times; Sugath kept the pool clean and made sure our sunbeds had towels and made sure we were comfortable by the pool; chef was lovely and cooked us the food we wanted to eat which was delicious especially the special seafood meal by candlelight on the edge of the beach - it was amazing and romantic; and Kilani on reception who helped us out to recover an overpaymnent made to another hotel. The hotel only had 6 rooms and it was well located, at the quieter end of Hikkaduwa , away from the crowds. At times, we felt that we were on our own private beach. We liked the fact that no service charge was added to food and drink, like other hotels, and that left us free to tip the staff as we wanted. We enjoyed our stay very much and would recommend it. Just a few small points- -the shower area was just bare concrete and it would have been nice if it had been tiled as it felt a bit unfinished -the room and shower room could do with a fresh coat of paint -the towels in the bathroom should be renewed as they seemed tired -we were on half board and it wasn't clear what was included -we were presented with a Western style set menu for the evening meal which we didn't want and so chef spoke to us daily about what we would like to eat - which was Sri Lankan food!

Directly at the beach and not far from the main town area and attractions, however away from the big crowds. The staff were exceptional, and truely made our stay so fantastic. The room had a beautiful view onto the pool and beach. The pool area was beautiful and so well maintained. Nothing, it was so great.

I'd like to mention Bagi who was very helpful during our stay. Sagut was helpful and attentive by trying to support when we were in the area of pool. Staff is helpful, food was very taste, a big compliment to chef who make a very delicious food. Breakfasts were very good with a lot of variety every day. You could order eggs in different form, pancakes, yougurt, poridge. There were always fruits, fresh juces and good coffee every morning. Clean rooms, change of towels every day, towels for the beach were also available. Since there are only 6 rooms in the Hotel it was enough space for everyone, the staying was very comfortable and relaxing. Manager of Hotel met us every day by asking if we needed anything. We felt in Roman beach Hotel like at home. Highly recommended and definetely return back. The beach is the best in surrounding where there were not many people and serfers. Wifi quality, sometimes the signal was not stable.
• Nigel (9/5): Good value for money and location superb with plenty to do near by… staff excellent 👌 - We stayed 5 nights to attend a friends wedding near by, so didn’t spent a lot of the time at the hotel, we had breakfast every day, although the offering was limited the food was really good. Can’t fault the staff they were so very helpful and couldn’t do enough to make our stay a memorable one. Would stay again but for a similar amount of nights, think the low choices at breakfast if we had stayed longer would have been rather repetitive! Only one umbrella and 2 sun beds on the beach although beds with shade by the pool. Our room was superb looking over the beach and pool with large balcony, huge bathroom, room facilities were luxurious, just the communal areas didn’t offer as much comfort . Lack of beds on the beach or chairs by the pool

Most impressed by both the hotel and its charming staff. - The location is well placed to keep away from the busy end of Hikkaduwa, consequently the garden and pool area is quiet and private. It's a short walk to the main beach from the garden. The hotel itself is set back some way from the main road, so traffic noise is not an issue, although the train horn can be heard occasionally. Staff are wonderful - they are courteous, polite and always willing to help. Food was excellent, with the Executive Chef always on hand to tweak things if required. Nice view of the sunset from our 2nd floor balcony. Comfortable bed. Bus stops nearby and regular tuk-tuks pass the hotel. 20 minutes from the hotel to Galle. For the two of us it was 3000rup by Tuktuk, 300rup by bus, which is an experience well worth having and very easy and safe (if you discount the Sri Lanka driving style!) Nothing of importance, although at first it was difficult to find anyone on reception. But if you dialled 0, the reception phone was always answered promptly and help would soon be on the way. A drinks menu would have been useful to know what drinks are available. We tended to choose a Chilean Chardonnay, which was sensibly priced at $20 (given the location) and of reasonable quality. Chilled Lion beer on hand too.

• Andrey (10/5): Exceptional - + A unique experience of staying in a small yet very comfortable beachfront boutique hotel + The staff was really and sincerely taking care about the guests + Delicious breakfast with many options to choose from - No major issues however there are a couple of things that I would consider improving: 1) The entrance to the hotel is difficult to find from the road, some taxi drivers get confused. Maybe a bigger sign could solve the problem. 2) Shampoo and shower gel are provided in glass bottles - taking into account that we were staying with our child, we were afraid to accidentally break them in the shower. Maybe plastic bottles would be safer.
