- Chris M (2/5): Poor access, no breakfast and a soulless room. - Hard to find anything to like about this place. I saw it described as a "boutique" hotel... But nothing like one. Three flights of narrow stairs No lift and a soulless room when you get there. No food available other than biscuits
No Breakfast.. No Charm, and no returning there.
- Gaynor (6/5): good locale for liverpool st - amazing location room is a bit tired and there was an kitchen extractor fan running right outside our window
- Odette (7/5): -
- Sophia (9/5): Lovely stay, perfect location, would 100% stay again! - I loved how modern and clean everything was. Nice and simple but highly effective. Probably our own fault but couldn’t seem to work the air con properly so it was quite a hot room and stuffy! But again, probably our own fault for norm figuring out the air con!

- Gero (9/5): Location, location, location - The location for conferences in the City is pretty much unbeatable. Even the lower room category is specious and has a lot of amenities. Stayed already several times and always happy. …only smaller things like attention to detail (both rooms I stayed in on my multiple stays has sink drainage problems etc). I slept well but people that struggle with sleeping with pub noise from the outside might find in difficult.
- Abby (10/5): -
- Joseph (9/5): -
- Jan (8/5): - the location, easiness to get into the tinyness of this place and literally even the lack to have any space to put a plate with food on
- Simon (9/5): -
- Hazem (7/5): It was OK. Clean room with good location to transportation options. Yet not convenient for old people with luggage - Location Noisy due to nearby Pub location
Long staircase with no possible lift option for luggage
- Luke (8/5): -
- david (9/5): - Location, and early check in
- Kate (7/5): great location, small room, suitable for liverpool street access - Location was good and the provided teas, coffees, biscuits etc was good very small room - could not open a suitcase in there
- Matthew (8/5): -
- Amanda (1/5): Avoid if you like safety or actually staying in a room. - Location Keys didn’t work, facilities were old. I couldn’t open or close my door and had to get another hotel late at night when I couldn’t get in and could not reach anyone from booking.com or the hotel. Extremely unsafe.
- Monique (4/5): -
- Olga (8/5): - Clean place in good location Noise of the bar downstairs - I did not realise how noisy Londoners could be ;) in the evening
- Lorraine (9/5): -
- Shane (7/5): A convenient location for London - The location is perfect Basic rooms over a pub/bar
- David (7/5): - Room & bed comfortable enough, good shower Stairs were monumental (74) to Oxford Room at the top. Ok without a suitcase, with and you would struggle
- Lee (4/5): Nice room, but we suffered a rude awakening. - The pub below took a delivery of over 40 kegs of beer that started around 5:50am and lasted for nearly an hour and every keg dropped shook the building.
- Dominique (10/5): Une très belle expérience dans le coeur de Londres - La chambre, l’emplacement, le personnel, …
- Bernd (9/5): -
- Andrea (10/5): -
- Therese (9/5): Very comfortable and convenient stay. Helpful communication as we arrived late. - After our long-haul flight arriving late on a Sunday evening this location was perfect. Room was super clean and comfy, great shower and loads of places close by to grab some food and drinks.
- Karen (7/5): Great room in a great location with lovely staff - It was in a great location and the staff were very friendly and helpful It could have been cleaner
- Emma (7/5): -
- Maria (8/5): -
- Erin (8/5): Convenient luxury - Great location, quiet and comfortable room Stairs if you had bags would be tricky
- Elinor (10/5): -
- Myriam Latorre (9/5): - Muy buena ubicación, personal muy amable, la habitación y el baño limpios y cómodos. Había bebidas y snacks gratuitos. No es apto para personas con problemas de movilidad, no hay ascensor.
- Ophelia (6/5): All in all, a good, comfortable stay. - The location was fantastic for where I needed to be! The room was extremely comfortable and clean, and the water and snacks station were an added welcome bonus The stairs with my heavy suitcase, but that was my own fault, I didn't read the fine print about no lift!
Being on the top floor, the Wi-Fi was a disaster! It didn't work more than what it did. There were also no Wi-Fi details in the room, so I had to go down the four flights of stairs and thankfully there was someone still in the bar. A stronger router should be considered for the top floor!
The information in the room also says that the pub closes at 10pm, but it closed at 6pm on the Sunday. I was not advised about the time difference for a Sunday, which was a bit of an inconvenience as it was the one night I was looking to do dinner downstairs after a long day of travel.
- Jose Eugenio (10/5): Cozy old hotel in the middle of London City - Great location, friendly staff, free snacks! Building is a bit old, although it’s not too bad.
- Ian (8/5): -
- Sabine (8/5): - Sehr zentral gelegen. Gutes Hotelzimmer. Tolles Personal. Kaffee und Tee sind umsonst. Frühstück gibt es leider nicht. Alles Perfeto
- Simone (8/5): - Place

- Mike (6/5): Reasonably comfortable rooms , but most unsuitable for ageing guests. - Room was very adequate and comfortable Location of rooms was on the 4th floor, with no lift. Very unsuitable for guests in their 80's !
- Lorraine (9/5): -
- Lesley (3/5): Like the room and location, didn't like the hosting, entrance hall and look of sleep. - Room was lovely well equipped. Entrance stair was tired and not very clean, disappointing.
Could not sleep till 4am due to noise from the street outside (we were on the 1st floor, at the front of the building).
No staff presence after the pub closed so on our own in a strange building.
- Natalie (10/5): Great overnight stay, really clean room, super comfortable bed. A little treasure of a property. - Great location, greeted by friendly staff.
Room & bathroom super clean, really comfortable bed.
Good selection of complimentary tea/coffee, biscuits, cold drinks and toiletries. I don’t think there was anything not to like!
- Andy (6/5): -
- Isaac (9/5): -
- Carmen (5/5): Ok but won’t be booking again - Great location Lots of stairs to climb
Very cold at night I was shivering
- Cartwright (9/5): A great location for a short trip. - Location brilliant...quite quiet so close to train station
The 'honest' guest pantry was fab for tea and coffee and snacks It's a tall building so many flights of narrow stairs. This needs to be highlighted for older or infirm guests.
- Theodora (10/5): -
- Seamus (9/5): A modestly priced hotel in a quiet location very close to Liverpool Street station - The check in at the pub was very easy . The pub closes at 10 pm but as I was going to a concert I was given a key to the Hotel entrance next door to the pub. I was late back but there was no problem and there was a decent selection of biscuits and tea and coffee. The bed was comfortable and the shower nice and big. There is no breakfast and the pub was closed early the next morning when I left but it's not a concern as there are plenty of fast food outlets close by I didn't have time to have a pint in the pub, maybe next time. I did however, manage to leave my wrist watch behind. I got in touch by email and the they posted it back to me. Thanks Bull
- Morris (9/5): Where we will be staying when we return to London - no doubt about that! - Clean, large and comfortable room.
Separate toilet and bathroom which was nice to have.
Comfortable bed, great lighting options in the room. The biscuits, tea and coffee and water in the pantry were a great addition. It would have been nice if breakfast was an option though given the location there were lots of nearby choices so not an issue.
- Rainer (5/5): -
- Andy (9/5): very pleasant and comfy stay with brilliant access to many destinations - room was very comfy and cozy.
bathroom was great, Moderna dn very clean.
Free coffee/tea and snacks were available.
- julia (6/5): Good location, clean room but not as luxury as photos looked on website. - Location. Big bathroom and shower room.
Good biscuits and crisps available as part of deal. Big toilet flush didn’t work. Views weren’t as expected - didn’t have much view and not of the shard.
Bar very noisy and far less trendy than photos looked.
- Michaela (10/5): Felt very comfortable great location - Amazing absolutely loved it
- Daniel (9/5): Good value, perfect location for our travel needs - No breakfast. Nice lady in pub took us up to our room. Very clean room. A little small, but adequate.
- Adrienne (10/5): Fantastic stay - comfort and value - An absolutely fantastic stay. Well beyond expectations! Very comfortable bedroom, bed, tub bath and great lighting. A surprise pantry with crisps, biscuits and drinks too. It's well designed and very functional. And the staff are very helpful. I will stay again! Absolutely nothing!
- Piotr (10/5): -
- Grace (9/5): -
- Halyna (6/5): - Internet was not walking in the room at all,
There is no elevator, quite high and narrow stairs , was challenging with the suitcase
- Peta (9/5): Great location, immaculate room, good value for money - Superbly located, just across the road from Liverpool Street, but generally quiet because it is in a pedestrian zone. Near to various sites, including the Barbican Centre. Helpful staff, immaculate, comfortable room, with a guest 'pantry' for making tea, coffee, some biscuits etc. Plenty of wardrobe and drawer space (if staying longer), good lighting and a bright, modern bathroom. I'd forgotten to specify mobility limitations, but the second floor was fine, as the stairs were not too steep and we actually noticed the quality of carpeting which helped! Just for clarification due to confusion online - they no longer serve food, but there are plenty of places nearby. Our room was overlooked by offices, so be aware that the windows may be partially obscured - although that didn't bother us. The pub consists of one nice looking bar, though we didn't get to try it, as they close at 8 p.m. on a Sunday. We would definitely stay here again as base for a City area visit.
- Thaniel (9/5): -
Masse trapper, ingen heis. Ikke frokost tilgjengelig, absolutt ingen informasjon. Kommer nok ikke tilbake.
- Oleg.B. (8/5): -
- Roberta (10/5): - Struttura pulitissima, centrale e personale gentilissimo. Nessuna nota negativa
- Philippa (7/5): -
- Tanya (10/5): It was a great location and value for money - Location Nothing
- Laura (9/5): -
- Carina (6/5): Tiny room, great location, way too expensive for this level of service - I took some time to reflect on our recent stay at this hotel.
There are a few things where they, in my opinion, missed the mark. However, let me start with the positive points:
You have great public transportation and many good spots to eat. Liverpool Street Station is just across the street and Spitalfields Market is a 5 minute walk. Very convenient. I'd recommend this area for anyone visiting London for some sightseeing, you can travel to all the sights by tube very easily.
The room was small but very clean. Housekeeping cleans the rooms daily and you have access to a small pantry with a few snacks and beverages. The provided toiletries are of good quality. First of the hotel has "4 stars" on booking.com and that was one of the main reasons why I booked it. The Bull and The Hide does not have any stars. This is false advertising and a shame honestly, especially for over 250€/night.
The check-in was really easy but also kinda weird. The employee did not want to see any documentation, confirmation or anything to proof we made that booking. I just said my last name and she handed me a key.
We had a tiny room on the top floor, lots of stairs but we expected that. Our phones did not have any mobile data connection in our room, which shouldn't be an issue if you have access to WiFi. Unfortunately the WiFi in this hotel did not work at all. We could connect without a password and sometimes we could get it to work very slowly but most of the time it just wasn't there. I expect a hotel in this price range to have WiFi boosters on every floor to make sure guests can use it.
The provided "smart-TV" has a decent size, but it just wasn't very smart. You can open Amazon prime, but that's it. No Netflix, HBO, Disney+, Sky and no satellite TV. So we were stuck with prime or the british channels.
On our first day we had a weird encounter. When we were about to leave the room for dinner in the evening we heard someone trying to open our door (which we locked). When we opened the door we found a man who was about to put in a key into our door to open it. Turns our he was an employee and he "just wanted to check if our door was closed for security reasons". This left a really bad taste in our mouths and we made sure to never leave anything of value in that room.
There is no sign you put on the outside of your room if you don't want to be disturbed or don't need housekeeping. I thought this would be a standard anywhere.
We were not asked how our stay was when we checked out. They just again took our keys and that was that.
- Paul (7/5): Ok place to stay for a night - haphazard check in process - Great location, close to Liverpool St Station Small room, up a flight of stairs. The pub closes at 9:30pm on a Friday, so they call you harassing you - not good when at the theatre or somewhere. Could have just messaged in the first place
- Steven (9/5): -
- Patrizia (8/5): -
- Theo (8/5): - The room itself was very well equipped and clean. The bed was comfortable. Personnel was very kind and easy going. We could check in (leave our luggage) very early. The stairs to the room. There was sort of a beer smell. The carpet on the stairs does not seem to be a suitable solution.
- David (8/5): - There are shops nearby and the bar downstairs offered a fine selection.
- Vadims (9/5): -
- caroline (8/5): Fantastic property and we would definately stay there again - Lovely room, very comfortable and fantastic location nr Liverpool Street station
Lovely pub downstairs Unlucky but no hot water / or very low about 1 out of 5 on Saturday just as I was getting ready for a party :-(. Was fixed next day

- Tiffani (8/5): Fair stay, good location, great staff - The good: location, amazing staff, early checkin, bag storage, bed really comfy, flat screen, amenities and really good cookies!
The bad: staircases, it’s an old building so understandable but very tricky to go down, the curtains won’t block all the light, very noisy area and if you have a light sleep I’d recommend some noise canceling solution.
The ugly: the sink had its drain fully closed, I had to unscrew it for the water to run and then a terrible smell came out of it, the shower heads looks like were never cleaned from the build up calcium, the air vent in the toilet was also full of build up dust.
- Fernando (7/5): -
- David (10/5): -
- Hayes-Strom (8/5): Great location but very noisy - The location is great, and is close to Liverpool station and bus options. The bed was comfortable, and the room was very clean. We should have known that a hotel above a pub would be noisy but our room “Petticoat” faced the alley and was very very noisy late into the night. The windows did not seem to keep out any sound and the pub noise then noise of people out carousing then garbage collector noise was loud. Also the front door lock to the alley was broken for three of the four nights we stayed. Our room did lock but anyone could have walked into the hotel halls from the alley.
- PAUL (10/5): - Nice location.Friendly and helpful staff.Excellent facilities. Nothing
- Deborah (9/5): Excellent bar staff were polite helpful and friendly couldn’t recommend it more - Close to Liverpool Street station and London Bridge 15 minute walk away had it’s own stocked kitchen to help yourself Nothing really
- Andreas (10/5): -
- Anne (7/5): -
- Andrew (10/5): Nice place and good value - This was very nice. Clean. Nice renovations. Staff was very good. Family friendly. Good location
- Shakti (9/5): -
- John (8/5): Would use again. - Nice, clean, quiet room above old pub. Close to station. Steep stairs to upper rooms could be a challenge for some.
- Gert (9/5): -
- George (9/5): -
- Lucélia (10/5): Maravilhosa, localização boa . - Cama confortável, quarto agradável , poderia ter elevador kkkk ,
- Sean (8/5): Great Hotel, could be better with an open kitchen. - Room very clean, spacious and well presented. Be prepared to climb some stairs though!
Hotel right in the centre with good links to everything. No food available, not even breakfast, but there was information on where to eat close by.
- hernandez urrea (8/5): Cómodo, ausencia de personal - Comodidad, limpieza Check in, ausencia de personal
- Sarah (9/5): Great location to the train station but this hotel may not suit those with mobility issues - The location to london liverpool street was great I thought there was food/a restaurant available at the hotel but there wasnt
