• Marianna (10/5): - I was at this property for less than 12 hours. We needed a stopping point for the night. We came across this place and the price wasn’t outrageous. I didn’t realize until the next morning in an email I saw that the company asks you to be there before 9pm for check in. We called and said we’d be a bit later than that and she was kind enough to wait for us. Check in was pleasant, and the room was absolutely perfect - it’s too bad we couldn’t stay longer and explore the property. I will be back with the kids soon enough!

• Verified traveler (8/5): Beautiful location. Breakfast is not continental - Cutely decorated. I liked the lamps! Our only complaint was the “continental breakfast” was nothing like that word. It was the basic muffins, donuts (and packaged sweet stuff) that we are not used to for breakfast. There were oranges and some grapes that were frozen. continental breakfast makes me think of some eggs or warm waffles at the least. So that’s the reason we give 4 stars. Suggestion: just say breakfast provided no need to say continental breakfast and misguide people who might like to book for the breakfast. Other than this, the place is in a lovely location with a calm river flowing in the back which we really enjoyed.

• irina (10/5): - Gorgeous garden with a swing by the river where I sat until a large turtle splashed to get my attention before letting go to be taken downstream. The breakfast is simple with baked goods, OJ, coffee, but it's served in a very pretty room. Lots of DVDs so we found one that looked interesting. The room was small but clean and neat, nicely decorated. We had a sofa that was VERY soft but fine. We would stay here again, it's a pretty location and Debbie is as charming as could be.

Also would be nice to have a fridge and microwave. Overall perfect room. Just needs better soundproofing between rooms

• Lorry (10/5): - A delightful little lodge that is absolutely beautiful. The rooms are comfortable and really one of the cleanest places we have stayed. The lodge really made the trip. Owners are attentive and the grounds are just a great place to relax. There are lots of outdoor activities and the town is really chill and easy to navigate. If they continue to have events at the Cannabash location you might want to reconsider. We didn't feel the town was as excited about this event as the promoters blasted. It's unfair to make places host events they don't feel fits into their community values whether it's legal or not.

The motel is small but you can tell they work hard at keeping things updated and clean. It was very hot and humid while we were there and it was great to have an air conditioned room. We will differently come back.

• Sherra (10/5): - I must have misread something on the website. It said no pets allowed but, a service dog could be an extra charge. We decided to board our service dog...thank god. Their idea of an extra charge was 200.00 to 250.00. a night. Pretty hefty extra charge

• Jeffrey (2/5): - In a small town, where there’s several motels dedicated to the tourism industry there, it’s shocking that someone could get away with regularly treating people the way we were upon arrival. We were treated in the parking lot as we pulled in. No other tenants or their vehicles in sight and, instead of kindly greeting a paying customer, we were immediately asked how many of us were checking in. When I explained we were doing a memorial for our dad at our property where we were camping and that Mom would be staying here, she stated that we were not all coming here to shower and only mom could be in the room. This is all before even an official check in. Why? I get that they probably deal with a lot of terrible tourists. We’re local. We just needed a bed for my mom. There was never a reason to treat us this way. Also, Expedia booking was less than what I I was charged at check in.

I am very sensitive to artificial smells (cleaners, air fresheners) and the room had a *very* strong artificial smell, so much that it burned my eyes and throat. Fortunately, I eventually found the culprit (air freshener on a shelf) and I just placed it outside for the duration of my stay and all was well. I only mention this for folks like me - I think most people would be fine. Maybe one of the cleanest rooms I've stayed in.

• Gary (10/5): More than adequate! - For a small town, northern Michigan motel it is very comfortable and extremely clean. Perfect as a base for our recreation in the area. The owners are conscientious and caring, yet not intrusive. After staying at other places in the area over the years, I'm glad we stumbled upon The Red Moose Lodge the last few years.

• John (10/5): - I’ve stayed at the Red Moose several times, it has always been clean, quiet and easy to find. Friendly staff and reasonably priced with several room packages available. Continental breakfast.

• Verified traveler (8/5): - The Red Moose Lodge is all about the local recreational activities available, especially the fishing, which is why I was there. The property itself is well groomed, the rooms are up to date, and the lodge sits right on the river. There is a nice garden and a swinging bench seat to sit on and watch the river go by. The room was larger than expected with a very nice bed. A free continental breakfast with a nice variety of choices is available in a common area. The common area is well stocked with maps, fishing magazines and local guidebooks. There is also a large library of DVDs for in room viewing. The location is great - there are two great river access sites two minutes away from the lodge. Fly shops, restaurants, and groceries are just five minutes away. Hangers for wet waders are outside each room. I will definitely stay there again on my next visit to Baldwin.

• Judy (6/5): - Very friendly owners. Quaint, but overpriced. The refrigerator, air conditioner and microwave were on the same power strip and would keep tripping if the microwave was used. Of course, the pandemic created resource limitations, but the owners worked hard to meet our needs.
• Lisa (6/5): Cute place - The place was adorable. The air-conditioner was very loud (sounded like it needed some help)and I couldn't sleep. I had to turn it off and it got too hot. Didn't sleep much that night.

• Mike (10/5): A++ - Very friendly service. The couple who run the red moose lodge are very personable and care about your stay. Had a small wet spot on the floor from the people before us with a cooler leak and she made it a point to tell us and offered to bring a fan in to dry in quicker. 9pm asked to use the hot tub in the rain, they opened for us. Next summer when i head north i will book this lodge again. Wish our stay was longer this time but definitely will be next time
