Guest Reviews
- Kelvin (8/5): Hakone trip. - Hotel located about 20 minutes uphill walk from Gora station. Difficult to walk, need to arrange for a free shuttle service to and fro from morning till 6pm. Or take a taxi which costs about 10 dollars. Unable to arrange luggages delivery service through the hotel cos it only provide cash on delivery which mean the reciever need to pay the delivery cost whereby most receiving hotels do not comply. Onsen is great, done it everyday in the morning and evening.
- Yu (8/5): - Nice and quiet hotel, friendly staff. Fantastic breakfast. The hotel is a 20 minute uphill and downhill walk from the Gora station. Not all restaurants in the area are open for dinner. The hotel offers dinner but requires pre-order. Very nice onsens, not crowded. Overall a good place to stay.
- Darline (8/5): - The front desk staff did a good job trying to communicate with us, since we do not know Japanese. They were friendly and polite and helpful. We enjoyed the onsens here, which were clean and well kept. When we arrived the weather was in the 30's F, and there was snow, but our room was nice and warm.
Depending on where your room is you may have to navigate a few flights of stairs.
I wish you did not have to commit to buying dinner and breakfast before and at check-in. We did not do this and we found several lovely places to eat near-by.
The carpeting in our room was very, very dirty and the room needed a night stand by the beds.
The hotel is on the side of a mountain, so it is a steep walk to and from town. We took the bus when traveling with our luggage.
The hotel is conveniently located to two of the Gora cable car stops.
- Gurveer (10/5): - Comfortable and relaxing
- Jennifer (10/5): - Staffs are super helpful and friendly.
- YI LIN (8/5): - Overall is good
- Kai (10/5): - .
- Melanie (10/5): - The hotel was charming and the staff very accommodating. TKP was a relaxing place to stay and a great base for our stay in Hakone. We were able to walk to some key sites and cable car stop. Transfer provided by hotel to Gora station with our luggage at the end of our stay was awesome.
- Jennifer (10/5): - I was here for a few days with my extended family. They all loved the dinner (French) and the buffet breakfasts - so many delicious options available. Glad I actually read the emails from the property and remembered to book the meals and shuttle from the station ahead of time. A lot of reviewers seemed to have missed the chance to do so and had to trudge up a giant hill with their luggage from the station and then skip dinner. That said, I actually did see some taxis at the station during the day and when we walked down the hill for dinner one night - multiple empty taxis drove right past us. We caught one to get back and it was something like a 3 minute drive for 600 yen. Well worth it since we climbed Mt Fuji a few days before. There's also a bus that stops directly in front of the hotel, but with limited hours. I think it stops at 5pm. The hotel now has a option to order meals in the room, which is a new service they offer. My parents took advantage and said their meal was very good. The public onsen was fabulous, especially the super hot sulphur one (not a strong smell, don't worry). We also booked the private for 45 min - that was also nice but not as hot as the sulphur water tub. Fun to be able to choose your own yukata and many different skin care product samples. Oh, I also accidentally left my coin purse in the room after we checked out and the hotel kindly brought to the train station for me! So, the service was excellent!
- Mikko (10/5): Peaceful and quiet - The pictures from outside don't do justice, ignore them. Super-relaxing atmosphere, perfect place to relax. This continues to the village, the streets are empty in July! We didnt have dinner at the hotel but maybe we should have, as finding a place to eat was difficult and the streets around hotel are steep.
Not much to see in Gora, but Mt Fuji is well visible from the cable car if weather permits. If you are looking for swiss-type mountain lake this is not the place, 2 days is enough here.
- don (10/5): - Very very friendly, the breakfast needs a little improvement but the curry was fantastic
- Rebecca (10/5): Want to stay again - It said they offer station pickup but I was unable to schedule it. The walk to the resort is strenuous as it’s quite a ways from the station and mostly up hill. That was the only downside however. The resort has beautiful landscaping all around it. My room was clean, spacious, and comfortable with a garden view. It was very quiet and I was able to sleep well. The hot spring was very relaxing and had everything you would need to freshen up after a nice soak. I got lucky and had the bath to myself since I went early in the morning. I easily reserved the resort shuttle to take me to Gora station after check out which was quick. Staff was friendly and used a translator to communicate which was super helpful.
- Ping (6/5): - I enjoyed the hotspring there.
- beki (8/5): - A very peaceful location with traditional lovely Japanese breakfast and dinner. The onsen was convenient as it was next to our room.
We had a slight issue at night as there were many fire safety lights and these disturbed me on the first night. The staff were very helpful and accommodating and fixed the issue for our second night.
- Andrea (10/5): Nice staff and relaxing stay - Very nice, accommodating hotel.
- Cory (10/5): - The staff is fantastic, super accommodating. Best hotel experience I have ever had. Will definitely be coming back.
- Huy (8/5): - The provided traditional clothes and room decoration brought out an excellent experience living at this hotel.
- Eric (8/5): - Staff went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable.
- LAPYUI (10/5): - Good
- Linda (10/5): - It was a nice ryokan experience in a more modern setting. You could choose between private or public hot spring bath and the dinner and breakfast was good. Advise to book the half board option as trying to find somewhere else to eat would be a challenge given their remote location. They provided a choice of yukatas upon arrival and shuttle service to Gora station when we left.
- Chilin (10/5): Comfort and Good service - Comfort and good service , dinner with very delicious beef ,but little far away from the train station .
- CHEUK YIU (10/5): -
- David (10/5): - Great place to spend a night or two!
- Jennifer (8/5): Love the tub on the balcony - The hotel is a little confusing to navigate. There are long sets of stairs, follow by hallways, then a few stairs down, then going back up and winding through hallways. The room was lovely - floor to ceiling windows, the soaker tub on the balcony, very spacious room for Japan. We did however find two socks under one of the arm chairs which leads me to believe the room is not thoroughly cleaned after each stay. Still living in the old world where tattoos are not allowed in the public onsen there. We did not realize that dinner needed to be booked in advance with the reservation so no food for us. We had to walk to a convenience store down some very steep hills and then back up these very steep hills with bags of food and beer.
- Joseph (10/5): - The room is big and beautiful. The hotel staff is very helpful. But the parking lot is far from the hotel and you have to carry your luggage uphill. The hotel does not have an elevator! Good Japanese breakfast.
- David (10/5): - Great hotel. A little remote but staff offers excellent service. The meals were wonderful.
- mica (6/5): - the loxation is not convenience, we.arrived at the hotel in evening and the shops already closed, we can only choose the restaurant in hotel, but it needed to book in advance and we didnt book.it due to language barrier. All we have for dunner was just cup noodles. We asked the staff(the only foreigner who can speak English) if we can keep the luggage there after check out, but he said we.need to take back it before 2pm. i think its totally non-sense. At the end we took the luggage back to station and rent a locker there so that we can enjoy the remaining trip in Hakone.
- Joyce (8/5): - Very far walk to Gora train station. Property is up a winding hill. No food service except breakfast. Staff except 1 person speaks English. No taxi around the area also. The staff tried very hard but it’s frustrating. We had to walk 1/2 hr to get to 7-11 convenient store.

- Pei Xuan (10/5): Great hotel. - Good and relaxing place for onsen.
- NAZRUL IZAM (8/5):
- Claudia (10/5): - Great experience, awesome staff and manager, super clean, convenient location, very good breakfast, we could’ve asked for a better place to stay!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staffs are friendly and hotel is new and clean. The dinner and breakfast service are good. Will recommend friends to come
- Robert (4/5): Typhoon - Was not able to make it there due to Typhoon and hotel did not offer refund
- PS (10/5): - On site onsen with nearby onsen spring water. Room is clean and very comfortable bed
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful resort. Kind staff. - Beautiful resort with kind and helpful staff. Highly recommend!
- itai (8/5): Very nice stay - We stayed 1 night as a side trip to hakone. Overall we enjoyed our stay, the room was very big, comfy beds, nice and friendly staff. Having said that, there is no convenient store nearby and when we got there at around 6 pm, all the area was sleepy, dark and close so we had nothing to eat. Luckily the hotel has some cup noodles for sale.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very nice hot spring
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel was comfortable and clean. It was not close to anything. We would have had to walk, not a problem for us, but the roads are twisty, steep and narrow. And it was dark. There wasn’t a restaurant close by. Our package from Expedia did not include breakfast, which is normally not a problem for us either, since hotel breakfasts are usually not good, but in this case, there was no where to go. Our package states that we got a complementary drink. When I asked about it at the front desk, the man pointed to the water cooler.
The Onsen was nice. Two pools. Chlorinated
- M.H. (10/5): - Very clean, modern, and great service. Very reasonably priced. Private Onsen (by reservation) was a nice , inexpensive treat for us. Two things I should mention, however: location and food. Walking from Gora Station (final stop of Hakone Tozan Railway) is not easy -- some sections are not pedestrian friendly and altogether very hilly. We took Hakone Tozan Cable Car Line and got off at Naka-Gora. From there, it is about 8 minutes on foot. This was easy though not recommended if you have a lot of luggage. At night, we took a taxi from Gora Station which I would highly recommend. We chose not to have dinner there and ended up eating at a very small restaurant near Hakone Open-air Museum station. Finding restaurants for dinner and breakfast in this area was a challenge even though I am originally from Japan and was able to make phone calls. Do not trust Google maps open hours. Breakfast was o.k. -- but given there are very few eating places in Gora except for lunch, it was certainly convenient.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very modern and clean interior - The hotel looked a little old from the outside, but the interior seemed recently refurbished. The interior design was very modern and comfortable. We liked the side sofa with cushions beside the beds. The public onsen was also very clean. Not far away, there are nice food places in Gora itself. Highly recommend!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Veru friendly staff. Rooms were very large and comfortable. There was no mention of the onsen costing money to use during check in through. Only thing i would mention
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very very very very very very very very very very Nice
- arnold (6/5): Not worth the price I paid. - Small room with a strange step up bathroom. Lobby was uninteresting. Nice buffet breakfast.
- carolyn (2/5): Very poor hotel service; isolated without a car - 1- This hotel is about a 25 minute steep uphill walk from the Gora train station. There are only 3 taxis in the area & local bus service shuts down at 5. With almost no amenities near the hotel, & without a car, many of the guests were stuck with no place to go for dinner. The hotel also offered very minimal shuttle bus service. 2- In looking at the website, it appeared as if the hotel was advertising an outdoor hot spring spa. This is one of the main reasons why we booked a room here. However, when we arrived we were told there was no such thing & the indoor spa was much smaller than the pictures showed. We were very disappointed. 3- My main complaint is about the extremely poor service at the hotel. (And I should qualify this by saying that both my friend & I speak Japanese & are familiar with the Japanese culture.) It was very frustrating to us in that the staff almost seemed to delight in withholding information from us regarding services in the hotel as well as in the general area. They neglected to tell us that if we requested 24 hours ahead we could have dinner there. They did not tell us about where to get towels for the spa & failed to provide the extra towels we requested. Tourists not accustomed to the excellent service provided in Japanese hotels may not notice how lacking the service was here. All I can say was the service was extremely poor, unwelcoming & very untypical of Japan. I do not recommend this hotel at all!
- Keren (8/5): Very nice:) - Very nice place. We stayed there only for one night and arrived late so we didnt get to enjoy the hotel so much but the room was really nice and big and there is a small Onsen (you can also rent privte ones).
- JC (8/5): - Good size room for Japan with comfortable beds.
Private bath good.
The evening meal very good but the Japanese breakfast not to our taste.
Staff very helpful with some English.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everything was good at this hotel. The only disadvantage is the location. Try to get to the hotel before sun down. It's kinda creepy walking on the roads at night to find the hotel.
- diana (10/5): Relaxing and very enjoyable - Loved the onsen and the relaxed atmosphere. The staff did all they could to make you welcome.
Meals were good. Rooms were large and exactly as pictured on their website. Not so good for anyone with a walking problem. Bought a 3 day pass and went up the gondola etc. Well worth it. I suggest you prearrange the shuttle to pick you up as the path from the train station is all uphill and bumpy. Very hard with suitcases. The Shopping outlet was not worth visiting. There are plenty of other places more interesting to visit. Lots of museums.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Cute hotel - Nice little hotel in Hakone. Friendly staff and very clean room. They offer pick up and drop off from the train station. I suggest you set this up because we made the mistake of walking to the hotel from the station with our bags and the wall was uphill and pretty far. Only one stop from the open air museum.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean room and facilities. Convenient because it’s right next to bus stop.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Mountainous area. Not too safe for walking. Took a cab to property from Gora Station and bus stop was close so we had no trouble getting around after that.
- Nadine (10/5): Loved this hotel and room!! - Americans - when you go to a different country do not expect people to know 100% English. I saw some of the reviews complaining about this. As an American myself, I personally believe when you are traveling to a different country expect to have a bit of communication barrier. For us this hotel was perfect! Staff was super nice and helpful! There English was limited but we could both understand each other. Rooms are brand new and we loved the bed!! Only thing was you could hear people walk in the middle of the night but we would fall asleep a second later. To me the hotel has a bit of a traditional Japanese room - you take off your shoes in the front and the bed is on the floor. Room was spotless clean! and big! Location - a bit out of the way. Limited options for food especially for dinner and some places require reservation. Do your research and be prepared. Subway station is a 10/15 minute walk. Onsen was spotless clean as well. Overall it was great stay for our 2 nights! Loved the hotel! Would definitely stay here again.
- Tom (10/5): - amazingly comfortable resort with delicious breakfast and dinner package. the only drawback to me is there is quite a bit walking distance from gora station and even from naka-gora. but if you like quietness and living in woods, that is the best choice you can have in hakone. the hotel does have a free shuttle to gora station in the morning.
- Jenny (10/5): Great Hotel,Staff really friendly and helpful - Wonderful setting, Food excellent , The Staff were very good
- Andrew (10/5): Wonderful, friendly hotel. - Very impressed with this hotel. The staff were super friendly and couldn't do enough to help. Free shuttle to the station, I'd definitely recommend contacting the hotel to ask to be picked up. We didn't and the march uphill with suitcases took almost 45mins! Free Japanese public bath in the hotel for which you're supplied robes and slippers. Recently refurbished to high standards, very nice, can't think of any negatives... except if you're over 6ft like me... duck, the doors are about 5'8"!
- Francis (10/5): great dinner good breakfast, onsen and transfer - the hotel is quite far up the mountain although it is only 500m from the train station, we arrived b4 2 pm, rang the hotel and was lucky the staff understood English and quickly came to pick us up from the train station. It was a bit hard to understand the pickup location as you have to walk through the tunnel under the cable car to the west side of the station. They also offered 2 transfer each way from the hotel to the train station each day. Breakfast got some western choice of bread and jam, dinner is traditional Japanese, sample below. We are usually back to the hotel by 5 pm so we have the whole onsen for ourselves, highly recommended for the budget conscious. Also got traditional bath robe to use.
- Chin Hwang (10/5): Modern Japanese accomodation - We took the cable car from the Gora station for 3 stops to Gora Naka and took another 500m walk. The room is very comfortable. It looks like a modern Ryokan (alike). The room is very new and clean.
The toilet is a bit small relative to the size of the room. The facial cleanser and emulsion given out by the hotel were from Shiseido. The breakfast and dinner were very good.
- Joanne (10/5): - The room with the outdoor onsen. Wish there was more of a view but amazing nonetheless. Staff was AMAZING. We hit a huge storm and transportation was closed down so we had no way of getting down the mountain. The staff was kind enough to offer a ride all the way to the train station 30 minutes away. Along with the language barrier, I am really not sure what we could have done otherwise. Japanese hospitality is well known but they definitely went out of their way to help us out.
- Chaim (6/5): - The food was awful
- Stephen (8/5): Good base for a short stay - Very friendly hotel about 15 mins walk from stop 60 on the funicular railway. Staff couldn’t be more helpful. We had breakfast included which was traditional Japanese only. Not many places to eat nearby but the hotel recommended a nice restaurant about 5mins away uphill - forget the name but it is the first one you come to. The hotel do a large evening meal but we forgot to book so no comments available. The bathing in the hotel is traditional Japanese naked. As a nice bonus we got complimentary pyjamas and a free shuttle down the hill on the last day. Highly recommend getting the Hakone day or two day pass, includes all transport from Odawara, the funicular, buses, ropeway and the pirate ships. A bus stop is right next to the hotel taking you to the Lake or you can get on the funicular and then the rope way. Both options get you to Lake Ashi.
There is a long walk along Lake Ashi which takes nearly four hours and needs good shoes. A better option for a lighter walk is upto and around the visitors centre at the bottom of the rope way near the lake. Unfortunately we did not get to see the famous Fuji due to the weather. If you have flexibility and staying in Tokyo another popular option is to pick a day with better weather (after checking Fuji cam) and do it as a day trip, particularly if you already have a JR pass to do the return journey to Odawara. You don’t need to go with an organised tour, the public transport system using the Hakone pass are easy to use.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great hotel! A little hard to get to, but amazing dinner, breakfast, room, and onsen.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Service was great. Pillow was a uncomfortable. Food was good, breakfast and dinner were included in the room price.
- Verified traveler (8/5): May try - The hotel was nice. Yet, it's disappointing that we arrived the hotel after dinner time, at around 10 p.m. due to traffic, however, there's no dinner reserved for us though half board was booked.
