- apryleh (10/5): Wonderful stay - It is always a wonderful experience. The room is huge and clean. The staff is pleasant. The breakfast was good. Check in was easy and the front desk was very helpful. The bathroom amenities are very nice. We would definitely stay here again. Penn Yan is a favorite place of ours.
- MKMapman (10/5): Good value modern hotel in village center - The Microtel is ideally located in the center of Penn Yan, just 4 minutes' walk from the historic center, with its shops and small selection of bars and restaurants. There's ample free parking outside. Of 5 hotels used on a recent trip through Penn., NY and Ontario, this was my favourite motel. The room was modern, unpretentious and, although it had a shower not a bath, convenient – and everything worked. The pool and gym were almost underneath my room, which was on the first floor with a staircase connecting the two without needing to walk along a corridor or use an elevator. The Microtel’s breakfast was quite good, and included a yoghurt and a DIY full size waffle, which I found almost too much for me.

- edwardrJ2020HH (10/5): Great place to stay in the Finger Lakes region of New York - This is an excellent place to stay if you want to hike and see waterfalls. It is 30 minutes from Watkins State Park and 1 hour from Letworth State Park. There is a excellent walking trail in Penn Yan, just a few minute walk from the hotel. TheTavern Restaurant that is east of the hotel has incredible food. 10 minutes from the hotel is the Antique Inn, another awesome resteraunt. If you want to go to the Finger Lakes region of New York, this is an excellent choice.
- Meeskey (8/5): Good time with a few issues - We were there to celebrate my grnaddaughter's birthday. We had two rooms and the rooms were perfect. The girls (my granddaughters and friends) spent time in the pool and they loved it. After a busy weekend, there were not enough towels in the pool room. I was given some, but the shelf was empty. Breakfast was a problem since by the time we got there, much of it was gone and not restocked. The juice machine was out of order and one waffle maker was too, so it took quite a while for everyone to get what they wanted. We were there at the end of June and things were in better shape. We'll go back and hope for better next time.

Luckily, we turned up the temp and it eventually became comfortable. Room had a wonderful little mini kitchenette. And we found the room to be a great value.

Penn Yan is a small town but the hotel is located very near several restaurants, stores, and taverns. All in walking distance. The only thing about this hotel and that it has only one elevator and it is very slow.

- Merri (8/5): Nice hotel in a great location. - This is the second time we stayed here--great location, walkable to Penn Yan restaurants and bars. Very close to Keuka Lake and not far from Seneca Lake. Staff is friendly. Hotel room is clean and spacious. We will be back--one of the easiest & most convenient places to stay in the Finger Lakes
- 440olego (10/5): Overall - We would stay again - Clean room in a clean, modern hotel. The rooms are small, but well stuffed and organized, everything works well, the room was clean. The breakfast was bad.
- Nancy (10/5): - I had a lovely stay at this property. I especially like that the pool was open 7 am to 10 pm, and breakfast started at 6 am. And, breakfast had tons of choices. All the staff was cheerful and pleasant.
- Bonnie A (8/5): - We've stayed here before but this time they had some challenges. We didn't arrive until 6pm, and the rooms weren't clean. We had to leave, go to dinner and then return. One of the front desk people was helping get the rooms ready (there were quite a few of us waiting for our rooms). The room was fine, bed comfortable, shower great. The morning breakfast showed they were still challenged. I had to ask for plates, the coffee area was a mess (which I cleaned up). The restroom by the lobby was out of toilet paper. I hope they get it worked out.

- Roland (6/5): Unimpressed for the money - I reserved a single room with a king bed, it wasnt "ready" and got "upgraded" to a handicap accessible "suite", which seems like like I got another sink, a sitting space, and a smaller bed. Curtains wouldnt close properly, ottoman was broken, black mold growing on tub/shower fixtures, no additional TP, only 3 squares left on roll, 4 tissues in tissue box. Card keys had to be reset 3 times throughout my stay, yes I got locked out of my room. But AC worked well, as did tv and fridge and microwave.

When we checked in the room did not have toilet paper which was disappointing however the hotel staff stepped right in to bring some to our room. The bathroom was tiny and not lighted well. It seemed dark for some reason. It was good, but not excellent.

- Scott (6/5): Short on supplies - No facial tissues - they said they were out of them. Only 1/3 of a roll of TP upon arrival for 3 days - we got an unwrapped backup from the maid in the hall - her last one. Breakfast foods run out fast - no yogurt or egg items our first morning.

- Wendy (6/5): No housekeeping - Hotel was nice. Room was clean and laid out nicely. We stayed for two nights, but our room was never serviced. The towels we dropped on the floor were not replaced, the garbage cans remained full, and the tissue box only had one tissue in it.
- Kathleen and Howard (8/5): - Our room was very clean. Restaurants and downtown area were nearby. Continental breakfast was OK, not the best, but fine if you want a bagel or some cereal, fruit and coffee. Waffles were available, and other people who had them seemed to enjoy them. There was a steamer in our room but no iron. I have never used a steamer and made an attempt, but it would have been nice to have an iron to use with the ironing board. Overall, very pleasant.

- Samantha (4/5): - Unfortunately despite the review caught this location at a bad time. The manager had quit. The lady at checkin said she walked out the week prior and was called back. They are short staff and she said it’s going to take a while for the hotel to get back to what it used to be. Checkin time was scheduled for 3pm and the room was not ready until 6pm. The lobby bathroom was out of order. She asked me what I would like to do because my room was not ready and I asked what my options were and she said I actually didn’t have any since they were fully booked… she was trying her best given their situation. The room had an odor to it. There was black mold on the bathroom ceiling, and it looked like ash was left in the toilet… leads me to wonder how clean our room actually was? Really disappointing especially for how much this room cost. I was given the regional or district managers number in order to call her and advise my experience and ask for a discount. This was a very inconvenient stay when on vacation.
- 672sheenag (2/5): Thank You Tierra!!!!! - Brittney at the front desk is in dire need of more training! We had to swipe our card at check in for a 10% down payment, which I completely understood! I specifically asked her if the card put onto the site for booking the room would be the one used for the rest of the payment, and she reassured us that yes it would! It was NOT! She did NOT charge us 10%, instead she charged us $339!!! We had used a credit card for a reason! We were there for a wedding and did not have an extra $300 to be spent at the Microtel of all places! We got a notification of the charge while at the wedding! My husband called the hotel and spoke with Brittney who assured him that she had taken care of it! We went to check out, and a wonderful person named Tierra (sp) was now working. She looked in the computer only to discover that Brittney literally did nothing to fix the charges! Another couple from the wedding that was across the hall from us had the same exact thing happen with Brittney! The same card was supposed to be used to pay for both rooms! The other couple had come down to check out while we were trying to sort things out with Tierra. It took Tierra over an hour for us to get checked out, and we’re all still waiting for refunds of over $300!!! We asked Tierra if this all could have been avoided if Brittney had processed everything correctly at check in, and she said yes! This poor girl went above and beyond to fix someone else’s mistake, and doing what she could to rectify the negative customer experience! There was a family in the lobby when we checked in that was visibly upset! They told us that Brittney had given their room that they already paid for to someone else! Brittney was nice but not competent at doing her job, which is blatantly obvious!!! I’m pretty certain that you increase your prices for wedding season, because $300 is a bit much for a Microtel, but we didn’t have any other choice at the time! We also had to park our car behind a very busy bar, with lots of drunk people wandering around! The hotel parking lot was full! The continental breakfast was wonderful, and the staff was lovely!

- Verified traveler (4/5): Not so great - When we checked in were assigned a room that had not been prepared. Bedding on the floor, etc. We were given a different room but we’re disappointed with the condition; the mattress was badly stained, the bathroom not properly cleaned. The breakfast room was not monitored to be sure basic items, like cups, napkins, were available. Unfortunately, a disappointment.

The parking was tough and if they didn't have immediate parking you had to park in the adjacent tavern parking which is a little sketch late at night. The manager on duty, Nikki was very pleasant and lovely to work with upon arrival. The room was small but quaint and clean. Beds were comfortable although their bed sheets did not fit the mattresses. They did not have irons and ironing boards in the room but when I called down for one they were able to provide one which was broken but functioning. The elevator is super old and slow and should be updated to only allow access to floors using a key card because anyone can walk in and take the elevator to any floor with no issue. We did not use the pool but it seemed nice. Complimentary breakfast was good with nice optionality. Overall, it was a pleasant one night stay. Would stay again. Cute little town.

- karen (8/5): Hiking - Retirement trip Watkins Glenn, Letchworth State Park both well worth the trip. Picked the hottest week days , but put there early so it was perfect. Beautiful views. On our way home to Cleveland,Ohio stopped at the Lucy museum another must do.

- DaDits14 (8/5): Very Good Hotel in the Heart of Penn Yan - Had a nice stay here. The reception area was very clean, well-lit and uncluttered. The breakfast area is about right in size and enough to accommodate guests getting their morning fix. Our room was clean and everything was working nicely (air condition, TV, hair dryer, microwave oven, fridge). The carpet inside our room (and even on the hallways) was also given attention by management as it is clean and nicely maintained. We also have a PIN-enabled safe in the room to stash our valuables (didn't use it though as there's no need for us to use it). The downside that we are noting here is the limited number of parking spaces. If guests will check-in late there's a decent chance that there's no more spot for them to park. We brought this up to the staff on duty during our check-in but did not get an advice on what to do should there be no availability to park, other than tried to assure as that they're expecting fewer guests for the next day. Other than this, this hotel is very convenient to get to places in Penn Yan such as the pharmacy, convenience store, grocery store, and a number of places to grab a bite. It's also close to Keuka Lake and its own host of vineyards and wineries.
- JOSE (10/5): - A very nice lodging right at the heart of Penn Yan, a quaint town that is literally right beside the beautiful Keuka Lake. The only downside is its limited parking spaces and when this was brought up with the front desk staff who was on duty, she could not offer an option where to park in case guests arrive and there are no available spots within the property. No traveler would want to find out that their vehicle was towed or assessed a fine because of illegal parking.

- kdpbball (8/5): Second stay - We were in town for the Corvette Festival in Watkins Glen. We had a two queen room which was comfortable. Nearby, within walking distance, is Laurentides Brewery, The Tavern, a Rite Aid, Walgreens, Sunoco and Tops Supermarket. Parking is free. The breakfast serving area is in a hallway, which gets crowded. Many items are frozen and there is a microwave. Coffee and tea are available 24/7.

- Linda (8/5): - The hotel was close to several restaurants and shopping. The breakfast was good and well-stocked. There was only one microwave in the breakfast area with several options that needed to be microwaved, and on a weekend morning with a lot of guests, they really could have used a second or even a third one.
