The room that we spent our first night in was going to undergo some type of reparation. So the staff offered us a much nicer room with a view of the volcano for no extra charge. I would definitely recommend this hotel and look forward to staying here again in the future.

• Diane (10/5): A great place to stay in the heart of everything - As a solo traveller it’s important to me that I have somewhere to sit in the evening with an outlook. The terrace at the front of the hotel is ideal. Somewhere to sit with a beer and watch the world go by. Staff were very helpful and pleasant ensuring my stay was good. You do need earplugs for early morning motorbikes going to work.

• Andre (8/5): - Love the feel.of this boutique hotel (9 rooms i believe) with a personal touch. It is unfortunate that the bar across the street blares its kareoke and music at too loud a decibel(it's not their fault - i assume other establishment have issues with them). The hotel is expanding and hopefully the new rooms can mitigate the street noise better. We were lucky one night that the power went out at 10:20 pm for about 15-20 minutes and the bars emptied out. We slept better that evening. I used ear plugs in Costa Rica because the roads do have noisy road warriors and few places are sound proofed and that is in most small tourist towns. Eco friendly, smoke free and truly a welcoming spot. The rooms are big and have decent amenities. The staff is great in helping you book activities (especially if the apps are no longer booking) Rosio can sometimes sneek you in under the wire. I would like go back again.

We were on the front of the hotel so was a little noisy but we had no problem sleeping. Air conditioner was excellent. Thank you for a wonderful visit to La Fortuna.
• April (8/5): - The reviews are not lying, the noise is a LOT. I wear earplugs every night anyways so I wasn’t too bothered but I could still hear it through them. If you’re a light sleeper choose somewhere else for sure. Other than that, it’s a great location, staff is absolutely lovely, room is spacious clean and comfortable, breakfast was good but not if you’re in to a BIIIIIG breakfast, nice snack before heading out. They gave us a cacao pod to take to our next location! Love Regina.
• learningandliving (10/5): Incredible Hosts, Great Location, Great Price - We had an incredible time at Regina Hotel. The staff was incredibly responsive and helpful. We got in super late at night and they were able to still greet us and check us in. There was free breakfast every morning - nothing fancy, but enough to fuel us before we set off. The room was clean. The shower is a bit delicate -- it only gets hot if you have the water barely on, but it does get hot! We found that this was how other hotels in Costa Rica worked, too. The A/C worked great. We didn't hear the night club across the street at all, but we were also there on weekdays. Our room faced away from the street and we thought it was pretty quiet. Right on the main road in La Fortuna. Would definitely recommend!

• James (6/5): - Very noisy. Loud music until late. Had an issue with management. The key to my safe broke and manager/front desk tried to scam me. She said safe needed to go to San Jose to be opened. I refused because there was no way our passports and money were going to San Jose. Then she later said a locksmith would come for $30 to fix it and I had to pay. I paid the locksmith guy $40, ($10 tip). Management tried to give me another hand written $15 or $16 bill later for a travel fee for the locksmith. Too many scams going on in Costa Rica. Time for a new country to visit.

They have it all tours, transportation, recommendations, etc. The rooms are super clean and fresh. Amazing towel sculptures and toilet paper art in the bathroom!!! Restaurant, bars and convenience store infront and on the sides of the hotel. LISA AND ROSSIO MADE MY STAY MEMORABLE. The hotel is getting more upgrades, therefore, I can not wait to see it and enjoy it.
• Guy (6/5): Excellent staff and location but basic and noisy. - Staff were very friendly and helpful in making suggestions for trips. However, the hotel was fairly basic. Eg no hot water in the sink, poor room lighting with a bedside lamp that didn’t work. The room did have a table with stools to sit at and a fridge, which was good. Very central location near to all the restaurants and attractions, but being on the main road it was very noisy- cars, motorcycles and lorries passing by at all hours.

• Y1027DLrachelg (8/5): Great value in La Fortuna - The location of this is great and considering it's so close to the main road the room was pretty quiet. This is a perfect place on a budget that isn't top rowdy. There are hostels and bars all around and at first we were worried it would be loud. Apart from a few motorcycles it was quiet. The AC was great and the staff was so kind and accommodating. This was a great place to stay if you're looking for something budget friendly in La Fortuna.
• Samantha (8/5): Great value for no-frills lodging - Wonderful location in La Fortuna with an excellent view of the volcano. The reception desk was very helpful and let us check in a little early to accommodate the timing of our travel. Parking is onsite and reserved for hotel guests so there was no issue. The room (1 queen) was pretty no-frills, the plumbing was a bit outdated. Bed was comfortable. Great option for the value, and if you just need a place to lay your head and be centrally located in La Fortuna, this is a great option.
• Edna (10/5): - Regina hotel was very convenient for me. It is right in the town center and you can see the volcano Arenal from the balcony. Our room was nice and clean. No problems with the water heater, and staff was helpful in answering all our questions. I would stay here again.

Prior to my arrival, she responded to all my questions online which made me feel more at ease traveling solo to a new city. The room was clean, safe and comfortable. And the location was great if you wish to be close to the center of town. I’ve traveled throughout Costa Rica and nobody and nothing compares to Rocio and the Regina Hotel.

• vikki (10/5): - I am a solo traveler exploring Costa Rica for the first time and chose Regina Hotel based on the reviews in which they reported how helpful the staff was. From the moment I walked into the hotel, Rocio offered suggestions for activities/transportation, allowed me to drop my luggage-off early to explore and then let me check-in to my room early. On my last night, my shuttle to another city cancelled around 5:00 pm and Rocio called around and helped me figure out a solution for the next 1 1/2 hours. Not only did she call businesses for me, she later sent detailed bus directions (with photos) to my WhatsApp to help me the next day while I traveled. The hotel is spotless, rooms are large with good storage, it’s conveniently located near everything you need and I felt safe as a female traveler. Highly recommend and thanks to Rocio for an amazing stay in Fortuna!

• barbk668 (8/5): Good accommodations - This hotel suited our needs very well. It is small, in a busy area, but very clean, and the staff was very accommodating. It reminds me of many small hotels in Europe. Basic accommodations at a good price. Beds were comfy. the room was big and had a view of the volcano. A/C was working. Due to covid, there was no servicing of the room during the day, but that was okay with us. One thing...I would like a better feeling when it came to room security. There was only a lock in the doorknob, which I didn't feel absolutely secure about.

• Kyle (10/5): - Really loved the location of this hotel. It's right on the main road and walkable to all the shops and restaurants of downtown La Fortuna. While a little dated in appearance, the property and room were very clean. Minimal amenities as it is not a resort, but we were just there to shower and sleep. Parking was a breeze as the hotel has the spots right out front and they put cones up when you leave to save the space. As others have noted, the road noise is noticeable. It could be a problem is you live in the country or quiet suburbs. If you're a city dweller, it is unlikely to bother you. Would definitely stay here again if I was in the area as the location is so convenient.

There is road noise as other reviewers pointed out. But I still gave it top mark because of Rocio’s service. She is super nice. We missed our flight and didn’t get to La Fortuna for the first night. The booking was non-cancellable. But she kindly moved it to a later date for us to minimize our trip delay damage. She gave us good advice on booking tours as she had been to many of them herself. We booked a zip-line tour with discount through her and was able to enjoy the waterfall as well on the same trip! On our last day, she gave us a ride to the Campesino Farm Tour and did the translation for us. We fully enjoyed this nature and cultural tour as well. Thanks Rocio! We will stay here again next time we are in La Fortuna.

There is road noise due to the location next to the major road as other reviewers pointed out. But we still gave it high marks because of Rocio, the hotel manager. She is super nice and helpful. • MrTravelBug0817 (10/5): Enjoyable Stay - Booked 4 nights, We loved it so much we changed our plans and stayed for 5. Everything was great, beds were super comfy. Unlimited hot water, in room safe, fridge, and AC that blew cold when needed. Only negative was road noise, but it is pretty hard to get away from that anywhere in the downtown area. Plans are in place to rectify, but in the meantime ear plugs are available if you are a light sleeper The place is very clean. No coffee maker in the room but it is available every morning by 7am in the lobby. Rocio, the lady who runs the place is an absolute joy to be around,and goes out of her way to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. She will give you honest advise on tours and only recommends things that she has actually done herself, and with pictures to show what it was actually like. Zero pressure to book anything. It was our anniversary one day and Rocio even had our room decorated when we returned from our tour. Wouldn't look elsewhere if we return.
• Jessica (10/5): Wonderful stay! - Had a great stay! Traveled as a group of 4 and stayed in 2 rooms. The rooms were large and clean, and we had balconies with amazing views of the Arenal volcano. Showers were nice, though in one room the water temperature was a bit finicky. As part of our stay, we also had breakfast at a soda (Costa Rican restaurant) across the street that was excellent. There is also a mini fridge in the room and the air conditioning was great. We did take note of some reviews that mentioned it can be loud at night; we did find this to be the case on Saturday night but were not too bothered by it (may be more of an issue for lighter sleepers).

I highly recommend this hotel!

She provided amazing tips on what to do in La Fortuna and even for my next location Monteverde. She was also able to get me into Tabacon even though it was sold out. I highly recommend this place!
• BYAOAA (10/5): Excellent - Very clean rooms and reception. Walking distance to great restaurants. The manager, Rocia, was fabulous! She has been on many tours, gives great advice on where to go, can book the tours for you, speaks great English, is kind and friendly.
• mehtam1826 (10/5): Great customer service - We stayed 2 nights in Hotel Regina. The hotel was very clean and the beds were comfortable. A fridge is provided. The water in the bathroom was cold initially---BUT--if you only turn the shower faucet 1 or 2 turns (and not all the way to the left) then the water is warmer. The lady at the front desk was fantastic and gave us great customer service. We had a tour leaving at 1 and arrived at the hotel starving at 12:15. She came with us across the street to the restaurant and asked them to get started on fajitas while we put our luggage in our rooms so that we could eat but still make our tour on time.

• 343arunk (10/5): Small and cute hotel in La Fortuna - I really like very hotels with small number of rooms but well managed that looks like medium to upscale. This hotel perfectly fits into that criteria. You cannot go wrong with location of this hotel with a large selection of restaurants close by. If you want to have a no nonsense breakfast in the morning, try Cafeto which is opposite the street One negative thing about this place is it could get little traffic noisy but it could be the part of experience if you are not bothered too much with sounds.

Big, clean, air conditioning, etc. The only problem is that it’s on a busy street, with a loud bar close by. Once the bar noise is gone, you get traffic noise and it goes ALL night! No breakfast but cheap place close by.

• lizleavens (10/5): A gem in La Fortuna - The best thing about this hotel is the manager, Rocia. She was absolutely wonderful and extremely helpful with all of our questions. She gave us great recommendations for restaurants, helped us with activities around the area, and with transportation to our next destination. We were always happy to see Rocia in the lobby and loved talking with her. Not only was she lovely to be around, she also does a great job running the hotel. It was super clean and had all the amenities one would need. It's in a great location to take advantage of what La Fortuna and the surrounding area have to offer. We saw that the hotel is for sale and I wish the owners would sell the place to Rocia. At the very least, I hope the next owners hang on to her and treat her very well.
• TheBigTrippers (8/5): Nice hotel - Very friendly owner, who booked us on a very nice Vulcano walking tour. room was basic the only real problem we encountered was the street level noise. It's probably one of those things that is difficult to solve, but it was the only minus worth mentioning. If you don't mind the noise then this hotel is highly recommended.
• AngelaM842 (8/5): Queen of La Fortuna... - Rocio, the manager, was absolutely delightful and made our arrivals back to our La Fortuna base homey and welcoming. The rooms are not sound proofed so if you are a light sleeper, I'd recommend asking for a room not facing the street. My family had 2 rooms, one street-side and one not; I was in the room off the main street and had no complaints other than trucks using jake brakes. The location, however, is ideal for getting to the Arenal must-do activities and the air conditioning, refrigerator, impeccably cleaned rooms and Rocio's singular customer focus make this place a wonderful place to stay.
• gingergirlsouthwest (6/5): An honest review. - Firstly this isn't a 'hotel', it's room only accommodation. Whilst clean and spacious there are some things to know. The hotel, whilst on the outskirks of la fortuna is still extremely close to the busy main road. Traffic thunders down this road until the small hours and starts again around 5am. If you have a room at the front you are approx 4 metres from the road and it is noisy, even with earplugs. The rooms lack decent lighting. I arrived after dark and I needed to use my flash torch on my phone to use the safe as I couldn't see the numbers. They have tried to address this by an additional lamp but either more lights or better bulbs are required. There are no facilities at the accommodation. There is free coffee from 7-10am. You are advised that you can get breakfast across the road for $5. You can get breakfast for around this price is most places so don't feel you are obliged to do so. There is a kitchen, which is a just a sink and fridge. There are plates and cutlery. The addition of a kettle or coffee machine would have been welcome. The rooms are spotless and cleaned daily. There were spare pillow and blankets in the cupboard. There is also an aircon unit on the wall. Be warned that if your neighbours have theirs on you'll be able to hear it through the walls. You can arrange trips through reception and for some you recieve a discount. The lady on reception was very friendly, had good English and helped me out with an issue with a pre arranged tour, she also provided me with recommendations for places to eat. Overall not bad, but of you want to sleep well and a little bit more luxury rather than basic, this isn't the hotel for you.
• travelinari (10/5): Great location and helpful front desk staff! - Regina is located at the end of the main drag closer to the hot springs and volcano. It's easy to get to any place in town on foot. The lady at the front desk is super down to earth and helpful, and made great recommendations for activities and food. She even helped me put my swimsuit in the drier when I didn't want to put it on wet! The rooms are no frills, but clean and air conditioned, with in-room fridge and safe available. There wasn't a hair drier in the room but they have one you can borrow at the front desk! It was everything I needed for a comfy stay.

• Sergey (8/5): - Nice and clean. Convinient location in terms of proximity to the main street. The one critique I have is that the hotel is on the main street, and it is very noisy at night- cars and trucks pass the entire night.
• toddape (10/5): We had a great stay for new years eve - Regina hotel is close to the bus station of La Fortuna. Our room was decorated very nice for new years eve which was a nice suprise for us. The host helped us a lot with finding the right activities and was very friendly. She also recommended a very good local restaurant to us. I can definitely recommend to choose Regina hotel for your stay in la fortuna.
• Tony (10/5): Would definitely come back - I don’t usually review hotels, but decided to make a quick exception here. This is a great hotel from which to base your La Fortuna area activities. Great basic accommodation, and an amazing and helpful staff. Rocio went above the call of duty, and we found her recommendations both helpful and sensitive to our needs. Our room was more spacious than I expected, and included a mini fridge. The location was excellent for us, not having a car, as many of the best restaurants and stores were an easy walk away. Would unhesitatingly stay there on our next trip to La Fortuna.

• Verified traveler (10/5): Nice, clean hotel located in Fortuna Downtown - The Regina Hotel hotel was exactly what we were looking for during our visit to the Arenal area. The quaint hotel is located in the Downtown Center, making it easy to visit the local restaurants and shops. The hotel staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. My friend and I were traveling alone as two college girls and they made a point to make us feel very safe. They room itself was well kept and clean. They even left us balloons on New Years Eve! I would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely return for another stay!

• Kim (10/5): Great hotel with Amazing staff! - Rocio, the woman who worked the desk, was amazing! She was so full of information on all sorts of different tours, hiking options, zip lining options, etc, and helped us choose the best activities based on what we were looking for. She had been on so many of the excursions herself and had taken photos, so she was able to show us what each one was like. She also recommended great places to eat local food, told us what to expect price-wise, and told us what places to not go to because they would charge us more. We absolutely adored her and greatly appreciated her advice! The hotel was in a great location in La Fortuna. Shops/markets/dining were all within walking distance. The hotel/room was very clean, and we even got an upgrade to a larger room with a small balcony overlooking the street. My boyfriend and I would both highly recommend this hotel! Great price and amazing service! Thank you!
