Guest Reviews
- Satish (4/5): Below avg hotel, friendly staff - Pick up from the airport was included in the booking but They didn't even respond to the 2 emails we sent (24 & 12 hours before checking in). from there it all went downhill. We were the only guests (Some guests arrived the next day). There is no lift, thank God our room was on first floor. The staff did offer to help with the bags. There is no cafe or restaurant within the hotel (still in progress apparently). The overall cleanliness of the hotel and our room was okay, nothing great. The bathroom door was improperly built and didn't close. The staff was very friendly. They booked tuk tuk for us into the city using passapp. We wanted a taxi back to the airport, but the staff could only book a tuk-tuk using pasapp. We ended up booking a taxi using a grab. Overall, it appears as though the idea was really good while building the hotel but they have run out of money. It is a about $2 tuk tuk ride away from City central. Friendly staff makes up for the shortcomings with the half built hotel.
- Roger (2/5): A Holiday Nightmare! - The reservation was pre-paid in full and confirmed a double room with a large bed and garden views. The booking included airport transfer.
On arrival at the airport, there was no transfer waiting for me. Things got worse though, much worse. On check-in I was told the hotel no longer deals with hotels.com because they haven’t been paid. I was told I could only stay one night. Instead of a double room with a large bed, it was a twin room with 2 single beds. Instead of a garden view, I was staring at a sheet of corrugated steel. The toilet didn’t flush, the cistern was constantly overflowing, the phone on the bedside table was not connected. The electrical connection to the hot water system was open and exposed and located directly above the shower head. It looked like if one accidentally sprayed water on it, one would be at risk of being electrocuted. Water and electricity = Not a good combination!
I was unable to contact hotels.com (Australian number only). I felt stranded. I had no alternative but to find another hotel for the remaining nights (Not through hotels.com). I did not see any other guests at this place. It appeared I was the only guest staying there. It was downright creepy.
Because customer service cannot be contacted from overseas through the app, I will never use hotels.com again. Deleted the app.
- Erik (10/5): Mye for pengene - Veldig mye for pengene.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not a nice hotel - This hotel has nothing to do with the pictures they show. Breakfast is very bad, few options and instant coffee. Swimming pool is not nice, and dirty. Rooms are quite different from the pictures they show; and Our bathroom had spiders.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The first room that was given to us was full of mosquitoes. The bathroom sink was also broken, so we were given another room. This new room didn't have as many mosquitoes, which was great.
The airport pickup didn't work out. The reason they said was 'You didn't give us the 2 alphabets before the flight number'. a) You could have asked for it b) it was Thai airlines (which I had mentioned in the email), why were the alphabets needed, or couldn't they have looked this up?
The complementary bikes were all flat. When we asked to use one, there was much confusion/discussion.
The staff was very helpful otherwise.
- Juliana (2/5): Angkor Galaxy Boutique Hotel Awful - This hotel is nothing like the photos. Everything in the room eas broken, including the windows and doors. The room was ingrained with dirt, the beds were rock hard and we had booked the most expensive room.
We decided it was better to leave at 1am than to suffer for even one night.
What was worse was the awful, awful service. The staff had no sense or common courtesy - incredibly rude.
We have never had such an terrible experience. If we could give minus stars, we would.
- Thomas (2/5): Don’t book it - Hotel did not have our reservation on New Year’s Eve
Nice welcome to the new year
- Ka Chun (10/5): - Nice guys and nice place. But it is not convenient to shop or eat out as it is not near the city center.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good - We had a good stay.
- Marco (10/5): Good - Good
- yama-san (4/5): My first trip to Cambodia - When I arrived at Siem Reap Airport, my immigration procedure took much time, but the driver offered by hotel was so kind of waiting long for me. I cannot forget his smile. On the next day, when he took me to Ankor wat to see the sunrise, he also served to me too kindly.
- Viola Alberte (8/5): Super godt hotel! - Super godt ophold.
Zu Fuß kommt man also gar niergends hin.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The hotel was almost empty when we were there. We stayed there for 2 nights to explore the Angkor temples. Om our last day check out was at 12, but we asked if we could stay longer since our bus didn't depart until late in the evening. We agreed to pay 12 dollars, but when we checked out the staff was being very rude and charged us much more than we agreed to. Furthermore the pool was dirty, the room was dirty, it was almost impossible to take a proper shower because there was barely any water.
- Sara (6/5): - This is a wear down hotel. Bed light in both rooms we stayed are not working and cannot be fixed. Telephone in both rooms are not working. You need to walk to the front desk to report anything or ask for help! Unfortunately we were assigned a room on 3rd floor, while the stairs on turn corner is very sharp and can easily missing the steps!!!
Curtains are broken and cannot be properly closed. Swimming pool looks like it were occupied by some kids from outside.
- SK (8/5): Nice hotel close to Angkor Wat. - It was very good experience. Wonderful staff and the manager was accommodating – They late us check in early. The value is great too. Good service, but a bit far from the city. Fewer choices of breakfast. Overall is a good place to visit.
- Cara (8/5): Close to temples on a quiet street - I stayed in this hotel for 1\2 of my stay in Siem Reap. liked that this hotel was not in the city center so very quiet, and there's a small store for drinks and a couple snacks across the street. It's also a bit closer to the Angkor temples than Pub Street, so their hotel tuk tuk rates for getting around were much better than the hotels in town. Chumlit the manager was very helpful in suggesting activities other than viewing the temples, but didn't push us to purchase tickets (which can happen sometimes!). The breakfast was also a good variety of "American" and Asian foods, and wasn't the exact same every day. The room was nice, clean and I don't think a couple lizards on the wall could have been avoided. Overall it was a pleasant stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect, small budget but very good service - Haben die ganze Tempelanlage mit Hoteleigenem Fahrrad erkundet.
- JEEWOONG (8/5): - Its location is far from downtown.
Nice swimming pool, nice breakfast.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice people and pool - The staff was amazing. Helpful and concerned about our comfort and happiness. Mr. Seeinute, our tuk-tuk driver was attentive, on time, and helpful. He struggled with English, but was patient and concerned about our needs. Great staff. Cudos to them. Great new pool.
- SEONG WOOK (6/5): - Hotel itself was not bad, but the location, which is the most important factor, was real far from the pub street. However it is near to Angkor Wat.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - People are very accommodating and very helpful. The rooms are quite old and has weird shower but overall it was a very nice hotel. The swimming pool is amazing!
- ho (6/5): Near by angkor wat. Reasonable price. - The hotel is near from angkor wat.
Good garden, kind staffs, and reasonable price. But the location is not comfortable. I had to get tuktuk everyday to go pub street or night market even though it is about 4km from hotel to there.
If you want to relax in nature and go angkor wat by bicycle, i recommend this hotel.
- Twenty4 (8/5): Good price for what you get - Very helpful staff. Very small things like the phone in the room didn't work and TV had no channels working. Very reasonably priced. Only stayed one night so didn't use the facilities. M
- Verified traveler (6/5): Trying Hard to Please - The hotel is located right outside the archaeological park of Angkor Wat and all of its splendors, which was our reason for choosing it. The hotel does have free bicycles to use in exploring, but we were warned not to attempt it as the rainy season makes it difficult (and, in fact, the temples are spread out over a much larger area than we anticipated). Instead, the tuktuk driver who picked us up from the airport became our daily guide, and we appreciated his kind patience and good humor. Overall, the hotel staff are very eager to please, and on the whole they succeed. Remember that this is not a luxury hotel, and you'll be fine: we had a gecko hiding on the wall that made alarming chirping noises at intervals throughout the night, for instance. The breakfast is modest but satisfying and again quite thoughtful in its presentation. The room was sparse but comfortable enough. You'll want to bring your own shampoo.
- Edward (8/5): Good value - It's very close to the temple ruins, price is right, nice pool, good food.
- kh (6/5): Decent room - Had a great first night, chumnit at the front desk is fantastic. The second night the power went out and our AC never came back. So we moved rooms, the second room had ants. So we moved rooms. Third room was unfinished but at this point we just wanted to sleep. Power went out again for much longer this time. Atleast his AC comes back, but in siem reap in May you need the AC on the full night.
Breakfast was good. Restaurant had lots of issues. Pool was nice.
- Matthew (8/5): Great place to stay out of the way - We had a great time there the staff super friendly, when we first got there we thought oh where are we but then got to the room it wasn't bad but the air conditioning and the water didn't work in the room. We let them know and right away they upgraded us to the galaxy room and from then on it was great, clean, good air-conditioned room, big bed, when you go to the entrance to the hotel there is a nice little pool area nobody uses so we called it our own private pool :) the only thing is they don't ask you if you need drinks by the pool but it's really not that far to go and get them yourself. Great staff I want to give a shout out to our tuk tuk driver while we were there Kimthai the best tuk tuk in siem reap super friendly and a genuinely nice person took us everywhere and was always early to meet us. If anyone goes to siem reap I highly suggest you ask for kimthai for all your tuk tuk services.
- Mary (10/5): Welcoming - Everyone who worked at the hotel was very nice and welcoming. They did their best to cater to my needs. I think they were still working on some areas of the hotel because it isn't completed, but it was still a nice place to stay. I enjoyed the free breakfast and the free water bottles everyday.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel, but a little off the beaten path. - The staff was helpful. The room was nice. The hotel is a little far from the city center.
- Keren G. (10/5): Stay here - perfect selection of hotel to stay in siem reap
- Brandon (10/5): Great stay!! Recommended - My stay in Galaxy was a pleasure. Starting with the staff who are all wonderful and kind. I felt welcome from the first minutes after arrival. The room was very big with two beds. AC worked wonderful and the bathroom was very large as well. Just be advised there is no elevator in this facility so if you have ambulatory problems this will not be the place for you. That would be the only negative ... however it is only 4 stories tall. The location is nice and quiet. They have bicycles FREE to loan to guests. The location is nicely placed halfway between the city proper and Angkor Wat. The food and service in the hotel restaurant was wonderful as well.
- Irene (10/5): Stay in Siem Reap - The stay was great. Staff friendly and helpful. I forgot my Kindle in our room and they were great in getting it on the overnight bus and back to me the next day. Excellent service from Mr Mol the Hotel Manager. The only improvement I can suggest is breakfast. It took half an hour for our order to be cooked on both days we had breakfast. Location was great as it was very close to Angkor.
- Maria C. (10/5): Great place - The hotel is situated in isolated area which is very safe and quiet at any time. Around 2.5 km to downtown and 5 minutes to Angkor Museum, and it is good walk to disover the locals. The room was nice and clean. The staff was helpful and friendly. Good breakfast of your choice. Overall it is a very pleasant stay.
- Michael W. (10/5): fabulous stay - the staff, service, ambiance, room and everyhing else were excellent. we highly recommend this hotel.
- Angell N. (10/5): Excellent and relaxing place to stay - The ambience of the interior is relaxing and the staff are very attentive to all our needs. Nice pool, lovely room, very good food and good location. We will return to this hotel.
- Amis (10/5): Nice place - Recommended hotel with full service and good location.
- Shiela Ann (8/5): - I loved this hotel because it has bicycles that I can use for free to go around the town. No need to hire a tuk-tuk. Very close to the temples, too. I would stay there again. Staff were also friendly and helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Lovely but not all listed amenities - My stay at Galaxy hotel was very nice. The staff were all very helpful. My room was huge and the AC worked great. It was nice to relax by the pool. There were always tuktuks available. My only complaint is that the room did not have all the amenities listed; there was no bathtub, no minibar, and no coffee/tea maker. The free breakfast was fantastic though.
- NAZRUL IZAM (6/5): Can't really blame that, but... - First of all, the good points. This hotel tries its very best to provide a good service. They have a free bicycle that you can use and they provide free tuk-tuk shuttle to the city center on the evening but you need to book in advance. The pool and lobby is nicely decorated but the best thing about the hotel was actually not part of the hotel. It was my tuk-tuk driver. Too many times, tuk-tuk drivers would try to cheat you but mine was very honest and a good person. Very thankful for that.
Now for the not so good part. This hotel is old. My room was huge for a single person but the furnitures/amenities were very basic. There were also dust on the dressing table. The hotel stated that breakfast starts at 6 a.m but when I went for breakfast, there were only one staff and he only served me tea. No food. And on my last day, there were no water. Luckily, I managed to flush the toilet. And also, while the hotel is a bit nearer to the Angkor Wat complex, it is a few kilometres from the city center and makes it a bit inconvenient to dine out, although they do have a restaurant in the hotel.
If I have the chance, will I stay here again? Maybe. But with the same price, I'm sure you can get a better hotel at the city center. And if I decided to return to Siem Reap in the future, that's what I will do.
- Steven (2/5): - No Wi-Fi in room. No a/c. Hotel staff nice, but I got a bad room.
- elisa (8/5): awesome hotel close to angkor wat - our stay was great. the room was good, service was nice, and they lent us bicycles to go to angkor wat. the pool was amazing.
- Jeong Y. (10/5): Enjoyable time in Siem Reap - Always keep in touch since we made the booking until after we check out. They followed up with me for arrival details to pick us up from the airport and transfer back to the airport, and their driver arrived punctually. They welcomed us very kindly and helpful, much appreciated for every details given about hotel facilities and service. The staff have full of knowledge, they help us arrange tour and tuk tuk to temples. Room is very clean and comfortable. Pool is nice and clean. I loved this hotel, best hotel in Siem Reap.
- Hyeun J. (10/5): Nice hotel in peaceful environment - It was nice stay at galaxy. Their staff and manager take care of me everything i need including airport transfers, tour arrangement, transportation, recommendation, ticket booking. This hotel have lovely pool and comfortable room, good value of money. Highly recommend!!!
- bellisa k. (10/5): Lovely oasis - Great place to stay while visiting the temples of Angkor Wat and surrounding area. We stayed here with exclusive rate offer including breakfast and airport pick up. Everything about the experience and service was excellent. Room is spacious, clean, well decorated and value of money. Lovely pool and garden in the front where i could relaxed and had some delicious food and drink from the restaurant. The staff were very helpful and well trained. We love this hotel and felt really sad to leave.
- Ferrank L. (10/5): Nice hotel closed to Angkor Wat - The staff here is so friendly, so helpful, so attentive, so nice and so on... The staff always had a smile on their faces which made us feel so welcome. Food was really good and pool was really nice. Everything smells wonderful. I honestly wish i could live here...
- Navita D. (10/5): enjoyable stay in siem reap - The service is impeccable and the staff is like our family. Fantastic food and all manager and staff work to make sure everything is perfect. Looking forward to seeing you again in a few months!
