- Amy (10/5): - Beautiful, quiet and exactly as pictured/described. Sad we were only there for 1 night. Looking forward to the next time we’re able to come and really enjoy the property
- Nawin (8/5): - The property is very convenient and central to the coast. Only thing missing was a mirror to get ready inside the room.
- Nadine (10/5): - Great option for a night or two.
- William (10/5): - It was simple and relaxing. The staff were great and the other guests were friendly. The private rooms were very affordable,.
- Chen (10/5): - Like a home.
- Brian (10/5): Hoghly recommended - Wonderful relaxing and super friendly.
- Marilyn (10/5): - My friend and I had a wonderfully relaxing and quiet time at Up the Creek. We were the only ones there for two days, so we picked a great time to go! They have a fully kitted kitchen with everything avaialble to cook up your meals. We took all our own food so our two days away from the city was super inexpensive. We spent time relaxing by the fire, knitting and reading, or out walking the local area. This place is very clean. 7 minute walk (downhill) to the ocean front (bit of an incline to walk back). And Martin is a great host!
- Mark (10/5): - An amazing place! We would recommend it to everyone!
- Sheila (10/5): - We had to keep the window shut as mosquitoes were coming in and there wasn’t a screen. So we were pretty hot
The bed was rock hard. The rest was great so much thought has gone into the place and it’s so nicely done. So homey.
- Esther (10/5): - The friendly atmosphere and kindness of the staff who did everything possible to make my stay memorable. It felt like a home away from home—an excellent base for exploring the surrounding areas whether by car or foot. Public transport from Vancouver and around Sunshine Coast is excellent and affordable. I had a marvellous time and would have liked to stay longer than the four days I was there. I hope one day I will be back. "Up the Creek" will be top of my list to stay, relax and explore—a big thank you to Martin and Halli for the little personal touches.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We stayed in the cabin so had the quiet but also full access to the house. We don't often stay in backpapers and this was one of the best.
- Donna (10/5): - One of the best hostels I have ever stayed at - friendly, clean, comfortable and full of great information about what the area offers - and it offers a lot! Robert's Creek is a cute little artistic town with cool drift wood benches and a giant community mandala they paint every year. Cliff Gilker park is a hidden gem with easy trails and an awesome rainforest experience - magical!
- Jamie (10/5): - An interesting stay for us. I normally wouldn’t stay in a hostel style hotel, but we needed a place somewhat last minute in a pretty specific area and this place popped up. They had a private cabin that shared the main house kitchen and bathrooms so we snagged it.
It was a super lovely property! The cabin was indeed tiny but cozy is how I would describe it. The surrounding property is green and lush and doesn’t feel like it’s a block down off the main road. The owner/manager is also friendly and helpful. The main house is spacious and set up well for sharing lounge space.
My only gripe, and I can barely even call it that, is that the guest kitchen could have used a sharp knife and a new non stick frying pan. I’m fussy in the kitchen and if I was staying more than a night or two would want to cook a lot more and like to have good tools.
Overall the place was fantastic. We’d definitely stay again if in the area.
- emmanuel (10/5): - Clean and comfortable hostel. Kitchen and common areas are very clean. Like staying in your own house. Friendly and helpful staff.
- Dave (10/5): - One of the coolest spots I've stayed in North America. Great, family-friendly spot, laid back, welcoming and comfortable rooms. Just an awesome travellers' spot.
- carol (10/5): - Lovely property and staff- enjoyed the friendly atmosphere. Perfect location.
- Kevin (10/5): - Property owner is very nice.
Thanks for his kindness.
- jennifer (10/5): - Martin (host) was very accommodating. The cabin was cozy and warm. Enjoyed our short stay very much.
- Chui Fun Selina (8/5): - It's such a cozy hostel. Martin (the owner) is so friendly and informative. There are nicely corners decorated with details. We stayed in the Cherry Cabin, which is so cute like a fairly hut. Good value for the price, great location near the Roberts Creek Pier.
- Jayne (8/5): - The size of the bed is fine; however, it felt like we were rolling into each other.
- Sean (8/5): - Laid back, welcoming and comfortable - a great “hostel” experience.
- Erinne (10/5): - I love the atmosphere and the overall friendly chill vibe!! A must to stay!!
- Carly (10/5): We will be back! - Loved our time here! Martin and Mel were friendly, approachable, and full of good tips of what to do around the creek. We especially appreciated the eco-friendly commitment; it was awesome to know we could explore a new place without having a negative impact on the community.
- Lysiane (10/5): - Awsome lodge with just the right balance between chilling spots and common areas. The amount of guests staying gives it life, but doesnt feel overcrowded when full. That place just makes you want to kick back and relax with a book. Great mountain biking spots right next to the lodge. Martin (the owner) and Mel are great hosts. We had the fir room and it was just the best time. Should've booked longer!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Highly recommended place
- Tom (10/5): - Nice hostel, super friendly staff. Would absolutely stay again!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Washrooms sharing not ideals and limited use of kitchen microwave
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Make you feel like home
- Bronwyn (10/5): Sooo lovely! - Such a lovely spot! Welcoming, clean and would return again in a heartbeat!
- Devin (10/5): - Very friendly and cozy atmosphere. Staff were helpful in guiding me towards local tourism . Great grounds and buildings
- Rebecca (10/5): Lovely family hostel! - This is probably the best hostel I’ve stayed in. A beautiful home in an area which offers lots of outdoor activities, and is close by to a beach and village centre. There is plenty of space to relax both inside and outside and the perfect hostel for families as the bedrooms are close to the communal areas, so when the children are in bed, you can enjoy the evening knowing they are only a few steps away. There is no question that we would return.
- YAO (10/5): Pleasant stay - Nice house. Very pleasant stay. Very quiet community. Very close to Robert Creek Beach. Walk distance. Rooms are quite small, And very close to each other. Luckily the family stayed in the next room was very nice and gentle as well. House was equipped very well. My kids loved the hammocks and jenga game in the yard.
- Jude (8/5): - Good value forthe price, great location near beach
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Jessy and Frank are wonderful people, giving tips on where to visit as well as sharing their own world travelling experiences.
- Megan (10/5): Bomb-diggity - Up The Creek Lodge is an adorable little hideaway. Martin was great and so welcoming. He was having a private party when we arrived and encouraged us to hang out and have a bite. I would totally stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great house in a quiet location. Just a quick stay - late check in and early departure. We'll look forward to staying longer next time.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It is warm cozy place - lovely to have fireplace. It gave us more relaxing after the trip plus hiking.
High recommend to stay there if you go to Sunshine coast island. We will go there again. The host is very friendly.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Cozy Cabin-like Hostel. A perfect peaceful weekend getaway. Owner and neighbours were friendly, very accommodating and helpful! Hoping to go back again soon! Gumboot Cafe & Restaurants are a much. Beach was peaceful and beautiful.
- Marta (10/5): - Martin, the owner, is very flexible and accommodating. We arrived with our canine companion and gave Martin only a day notice that the dog is coming. He accommodated and made some changes to make sure that our dog may come with us. Martin has some volunteers working for him - this time there were two women from Ireland and a man from Ontario - wonderful three people who were fun to chat with. The house is beautiful. My kids and dog stayed in the Cherry Cabin that was just perfect for them. Hammocks, trampoline, indoor games, puzzles, and books are there for your disposition as well as a number of bikes for all ages are available with multiple helmets for safety. Highly recommended place.
- Danielle (10/5): A forest retreat - This was a really great stay. Martin, the host, is very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The main cabin is beautiful, and there are lots of neat common spaces. It is a very comfortable and welcoming atmosphere.
- yvonne (6/5): Unique - Only stayed one night but I was basically happy with my experience. Good price. Kitchen bit small. Room clean but very small. Place is a bit worn. Bathroom needs an upgrade. General area nice. Location good and very quiet.
- Liam (10/5): Great place to spend a night! - Up the creek is a nice quiet lodge conveniently located just ten minutes from the pier. The cherry cabin was cozy and clean and we were very happy to spend the night! The owner Martin was friendly and accommodating and even offered to help us when we had issues with our motorcycle. Altogether a wonderful stay! 10/10
