Limited dining option in the area
- paula (10/5): 3 nights - Delicious morning pancakes. We enjoyed the tv free vibe.
- ofer (8/5): - The owner was very nice and helpful. We think some of the property was quite outdated and need some refreshment.
- Laure (10/5): - A quaint kid farmhouse. Frank is so responsive to our every need!
- Peggy (8/5): - Enjoyed are stay at the inn. Owner was very nice and helpful. Expedia does not state the room twin beds had a bathroom in the hall. Room would be great for someone younger. Room is upstairs.
- Charise (10/5): - Charming inn! Wonderfully kind owner who cooked us the most amazing wholesome waffles weve ever had. Beautiful location and amenities
- Diana (10/5): Excellent 2 night visit - Fabulous stay in a delightful quirky venue. The host was welcoming and helpful. He provided an excellent breakfast including plenty of delicious gluten-free options for me as a coeliac. The room was great and the communal spaces had really interesting decor and provided friendly places to meet other guests. The beautiful outdoor spaces were also a bonus in the great weather.
- Michael (10/5): - Nice B&B. Would stay here again.
- Julian (2/5): Poor stay - Would never recommend this place to anybody I would never be able to look them in the eye again!!
- Leann (10/5): - Wonderful quaint inn with beautiful grounds! Frank was an excellent host and made the best waffles!
- Jamila (10/5): - Amazing stay!
- Matthew (10/5): Above and beyond service - I traveled up by train for the Mad Marathon, which is walkable right in town. This was the perfect place to stay off my feet pre-race, and recover post-race. When I had trouble locating an Uber/lyft, the owner generously offered to give me a ride to the train station, above and beyond!
- Jennifer (10/5): Peaceful weekend in VT - Clean and quiet room overlooking the back garden. Excellent waffles for breakfast!
- Thomas (10/5): Fantastic Father’s Day weekend - Great place to stay for a weekend getaway. Cozy Inn with great breakfasts.

- Haibo (10/5): - Like it. Host very nice.
- Vincent (8/5): - Cute place. Simple but clean and a good place to lay you head at night.
- Michael (10/5): - The host was great, we had a snow storm the day we was checking out and didn't have electricity in the morning of check out, but it was all cool..
- Elizabeth (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay in the Log Cabin room at the Inn. Convenient to Sugarbush (less than 10 min drive) and three mins to restaurants. Inn was clean and cozy! Frank was friendly and makes great waffles!
- Steve (10/5): - Great location, comfortable room, decent breakfast. Host friendly.
- Renee (10/5): Highly recommended VT Inn! - Had a great stay. We came for skiing. It’s 10 mins to Sugarbush.

- Nancy (10/5): What more could you ask for? - Vintage Vermont at its best. Clean rooms, comfy beds, nice breakfast, attentive host...what more could you ask for?
Would definitely recommend.
- alex (8/5): - Friendly and helpful owner. Common areas very old and tired
- Gerald (8/5): - Very charming Vermont Inn
Great oatmeal and waffles for breakfast
- Dustin (8/5): Good value with some quirks - Our stay at the Swanson Inn was good for the value we paid. While hotel rooms anywhere in the Stowe/Waterbury were in the $3-500 range, we got a king bed ensuite room at the Swanson for less than $200 which was our primary focus when booking this place. The bed was comfortable and the room and bathroom were clean. However, there wasn't a traditional keyed lock on the door for the room we had and unfortunately there was very minimal water pressure for both of our showers. Completely understand it's an inn from the early 1900s and it was charming, but we booked under prior ownership and it appears the new ownership may still be figuring some things out. Based on the price point, I would certainly consider staying again, but would hope for some slight improvements on for the next stay.
- Nancy E (10/5): - A beautiful rural setting a healthy and delicious breakfast. The building is old but comfortable.
- Anthony (6/5): - The location is good. Close to trails and park. There was road noise but acceptable for being closest to the road. We didn't like the bathroom, though unshared, was in a hallway accessible to many of the current residents. We stayed in the only room that didn't have an ensuite bathroom. We were told the other patrons were informed not to use it. We did lose power in the building at night but it seemed to reset itself after about an hour. The owner was very helpful and the breakfast was nice.
- Jamie (4/5): Bugs and broken lock - The room I reserved did not have a working lock. The owner knew about it, and told me about it after I had checked in, and just kind of laughed it off because the doors were old. The room had a bunch of bugs in it. This room should not be available until these issues are fixed.
- LISA (10/5): - A delightful stay!
- Alex (10/5): - Nice Inn. Nothing fancy (it is an Inn), but everything very clean, nice sheets, and everything in pristine condition.
- John (10/5): Home away from home - It was quite, comfortable and warm. The location is close to places to eat and the ski area.
- Joanne (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay at the Swanson Inn. It was recently purchased by new owners, and they were incredibly accommodating and welcoming. Breakfast was an added bonus. It was very conveniently located near Sugarbush Resort. I would definitely stay here again if we return to the area.
- Alexis (10/5): - New ownership and it was great! Clean and comfy. Convenient and lovely family.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Our hosts were lovely. It felt like they were welcoming us into their home. There were even fresh baked cookies available to take in the common areas. The room was so comfortable and the breakfasts home cooked and exquisite. The Inn is just a few minutes away from Sugarbush ski resort. We were thrilled with the hospitality and the comfort of our room and will be back!
- Roger (10/5): - It was a beautiful time of the year to visit.
- Alcee L Whitehead (10/5): - Host was extremely knowledgeable about both local and statewide places to visit and eat as he is a native of Vermont. The breakfasts are works of art and he makes sure each guest is satisfied. The evening table deserts were a pleasant and delicious surprise.
- Bill (10/5): I would gladly stay at The Swanson Inn again - The inn was very clean and the breakfasts were excellent. Tim and Rick know what they are doing as hosts/ owners!
- Sheila (10/5): Lovely Inn - I was attending a wedding nearby and this inn was perfect. Location was great, close to restaurants etc.
It was immaculate and very quaint. The bed was extremely comfortable and the en-suite bathroom immaculate. A very nice breakfast was served including a frittata, home fries, muffins, fruit and yogurt. Tim was friendly and helpful. Would stay there again if I return to the area.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Wonderful Place to Stay - Tim and Mark were great! They took care of us exceptionally well and the location is wonderful
- Cynthia McKallip (10/5): - Absolutely beautiful Inn and so clean! Enjoyed our stay there and the great breakfast, as well. Would definitely go back!
- Marla (10/5): - If your travels bring you to the Mad River Valley, make sure you stay at the Swanson Inn. It's quaint and comfortable and a great location for exploring this beautiful part of the country. The hosts are two of the kindest and most welcoming people you'll ever meet. Breakfast is delicious and plentiful, and there are home made cookies in the afternoon. Make sure you are there on a Sunday because they have pie served with coffee or tea from 3-6pm that you won't want to miss!
We were there for the Mad Marathon, and Tim offered to make breakfast early for the runners staying there. He didn't care how early we wanted it, and he offered to make us whatever we are used to eating before a race. We had a fantastic three night stay and I can't recommend the Swanson Inn highly enough. You won't be disappointed!
- FLAVIO (10/5): Nice Inn in Mad River Valley - Beautiful old house, but well maintained, in the middle of the nature.
The hosts, Tim and Rick, are great and did the best to make us confortable, not to mention the delicious breakfast.
The room is small, but it’s cozy. Bathroom is adjacent and private, good shower.
There are a few living rooms in the ground floor, very nice and cozy.
Definitely a place we want to return.
- Lois (10/5): - Very welcoming hosts. Felt like staying with friends. Breakfasts are awesome! Very accommodating to our needs! Thank you!
- mark (10/5): - This is a peaceful, relaxing place with delicious homemade pies and wonderful, friendly hosts! We loved our stay here and will return if ever we are able. The rooms are super clean and comfy and breakfast is delicious! The whole inn has a very cozy feel to it.
- Maria (10/5): - Nice, quiet & homey. Friendly and accommodating.
- William (8/5): - Great option if you are looking for cozy New England Inn experience.
- Daniel (10/5): - Very quiet, low key bedroom with a warm atmosphere! Nothing fancy...just a simple taste of Vermont 😊
- David E. (10/5): - Very nice B&B and very friendly and accommodating owners. Plus the location was very convenient for what I was doing.
- sean (10/5): excellent - excellent, owners are very friendly, food was good, all the other guests were very nice. will definitely stay here again and recommend to friends and family.
- Beth (10/5): - Amazing find! Super clean, comfy, friendly! Best 2 night stay ever. Tim and Rick are wonderful! They served the best pie, cookies, muffins and breakfast. Everyday after skiing they had hot coffee, tea, hot cocoa and homemade treat. We will be back!!!
- Nadia (10/5): Mad River Valley Gem! - We have been staying at a variety of inns in the Mad River Valley for years, and just had our first visit to the Swanson Inn this past weekend. What a gem! Tim texted me in advance to find out when we were arriving and to make sure that we had made dinner reservations for the weekend. He greeted us to help us in with our luggage, offered us slippers at the door and gave us a tour of the inn before settling into our room. He and Rick have done a lovely job maintaining the charm of an old building while incorporating modern Vermont country- style updates. Tim couldn't be a more welcoming innkeeper and makes a delicious breakfast. Our room was very comfortable and clean. Our only regret was not being able to stay late enough on Sunday for their Sunday afternoon pies! Highly recommend!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect B&B for a quick ski trip - I recently stayed at Swanson Inn for a brief solo ski trip to Sugarbush. Everything about my stay was great: the customer service, the food, the personal touches (for example: tea and cookies after a day on the slopes). I highly recommend staying here!
- Lee (10/5): - Wonderful innkeepers and outstanding pie (on Sunday).
- Garry (10/5): First time! - The Inn is in a great location, is quant, very clean and comfortable. Tim is an amazing host and you will not want for anything! Breakfast was amazing!!
- James (10/5): Wonderful Country Inn - The Swanson Inn was amazing. Property is in excellent condition and our bedroom was newly remodeled. Very comfortable bed. A great feel to be in an 1860s farm house with all the modern amenities. Tim and Rick are great hosts. Rick took time to help us plan the remainder of our trip to Vermont. Breakfast was great. This is what an inn should be.
- Eva (10/5): - pleasant BB with friendly owners
- Deborah (8/5): - Tim was very nice and made a great breakfast.
- Tony (10/5): Swanson Inn is a spot we would stay at again! - Great inn. Owner was very helpful and breakfast was great.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Our hosts/owners were very enjoyable to visit. He is a very good cook and breakfast both days was very good. The inn is very comfortable to just hangout at. There are trails just out back to walk bike or ski. They also have some very nice local art on display.
- Tim (10/5): - A beautiful B&B in a cozy corner of Vermont. The owners were extremely warm and welcoming, offering their advice on the local eateries (which were all excellent choices) and other attractions and must-see events. They did a great job maintaining the place and atmosphere even with all the covid-19 related restrictions. They fixed us excellent breakfast each morning we were there. We cannot recommend them enough!
- wimabean (10/5): - Charming, comfortable stay at this Inn. Hosts were fanastic...engaging, helpful, and kind. Will stay again when we’re in the area!
- Igor (10/5): Hidden Gem of Mad River Valley - thank you Tim and Rick for your hospitality and exceptional service! We enjoyed every moment of our stay in your amazing inn, which is true hidden gem of Mad River valley. The breakfast was delicious!
Special gratitude for the best part of our stay was the fire pit and the s'mores! :-)
- Denis (10/5): - Tim greated us at the door and made us feel welcome. The breakfast was excellent.
- Kat (10/5): - Very quaint & sweet place to stay. There is a small fireplace when you enter. Tim was really flexible with our check in when we arrived late due to car trouble. Tim's breakfast was awesome with very sweet little tea cups. The sheets of the bed were super soft and we slept very well on our short stay.
- Marie (10/5): - Tim is a fabulous cook, and he and Rick were great hosts! Enjoyed our stay!
- Cindy (10/5): - This is a quaint vintage inn in a very scenic area in the Mad River Glen area. Tim and Rick are wonderful hosts and were very accommodating.
- Colleen (10/5): - Fantastic!
- Francis (10/5): Great Vermont Escape - We could have not picked a better place in Vermont. The hosts/owners were more than accommodating and gave us good travel advise for the area. They were more than pleased to fulfill special requests. We met people from all over this country and others.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Rick and Tim are the best hosts. They are so accommodating. Tim even waited up for us for a very late check in. Breakfast was amazing, even when we missed breakfast, Tim sent us with a to go quiche! Our room was spotless, the bed was very comfortable. Probably some of the best sleep I've gotten all year! We will be coming back to this Inn. The coffee is 👌. Every guest we encountered was lovely, we had such a nice stay.
- Jim (8/5): - The location was great, the beds very comfortable, and the breakfast was most excellent! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to stay here again.
