The doors this last stay were not very well sealed letting in bugs and light. The bathroom door was also in pretty bad shape.

• Richard (5/5): Decent but I don't recommend it. - Clean room, comfortable beds, the whole place was decent and not run down. I didn't enjoy the breakfast. There was no butter for the biscuits and no milk for the cereal. The coffee was instant coffee and tasted bad. Also, it was the first time in my life where I had to go to the front lobby and bother the clerk for ice. There should be an ice machine. I would never recommend this place to anyone..

The room had a horrible smell that did not go away. The bedcover had big stains. The sheets were rough and the towels were very worn and discolored.

• Verified traveler (6/5): Needs attention - I’ve stayed here several times before, but this most recent stay left me disappointed. The faucet in the shower needs work, the floors in the bathroom didn’t looked properly mopped, you could see the dirt pushed to the corners. The remote to the TV didn’t work and the buttons on the side of the TV didn’t work properly. Most of the channels were “audio only” (as displayed on the TV). The mini fridge door and microwave needed good cleaning and not just a wipe down.

I really appreciated that there was a mirror with outlets & counter outside bathroom allowing for more than 1 person to get ready. Great to be able to park right outside your room & well lit at night

Missing parts of the deadbolt. Could have been cleaner. Sheets on the bed had some stains. Pillowcases were placed inside out. Towels were thread bare and should be replaced. Found a used washcloth hanging on the shower bar. Bed side stand was very wobbly. Somehow the standing lamp by the room chair was turned on during the day but the room was not serviced at all. Not even replacement towels. Shower stall could use a good deep clean.

• James (8/5): Weekend Pool & Grill Escape - Meeting a friend from across Texas. We had a decent meal at Central Station Bar & Grill just minutes away. Took in a movie at the Grand. Spent the next day at the Black Gold. Pool is clean . We grilled steaks poolside on the charcoal grill. Staff made sure our room was close to the pool for this. The free hot breakfast was not awesome: Biscuits only1 morning, and no gravy. The place is clean, well maintained, and comfortable.The price, even on a holiday weekend was exceptional. The staff friendly and eager to help. We would come back.
• Marshalette (3/5): My stay was below standard overall. - I've stayed at this motel for years because there are not many options available in this small town in which I grew up. I appreciate the staff. They are always friendly and welcoming. As I said, I've stayed here for years, since they first opened. The hotel needs renovations. The linens are white and obviously dirty. The towels are white, thin, and dirty. The restroom faucet was broken. There was obvious paint and door scratches that need maintenance. The bed sheets had small bugs and small spiders. There were roaches and insects crawling on the floor. The shower curtain was mildewed and stained. This motel has deteriorated rapidly in recent years. It appears there is no maintenance or upkeep of the facilities. I have NEVER visited and not seen other guests in the motel except my family and I on a Friday night. It's very disappointing to pay this much money and not receive the basics: clean fresh linens and towels as well as an obviously clean room free of bugs and well maintained. Just because there are limited options available in Yoakum does not mean the hotel should not be maintained.

Towels are dingy,bed spreads look clean on the surface but are old and overused.My brother didn’t even have a lock on his door and I know it’s the same room my daughter stayed in last year cause she had the same problem that they said they were going to fix and now it’s a year later with the same problem.Not a lot of options in Yoakum so I guessing that’s why they can be like this.

Ours had a very obvious red stain in the middle of fitted sheet that would have been obvious when making the bed. Morning staff was heard on the phone discussing week old food, luckily she was refusing to serve it.

The toilet was dirty the floors were dirty as well as the shower. The breakfast was just okay. The scrambled eggs did not seem like real eggs, the biscuits were hard. There was not enough creamer or sweetener for the coffee. The last morning we were there, there was no bacon left and only three pieces of breakfast sausage. Not going to stay there again.

We had a huge party staying at the Black Gold and not one person didnt have an issue. Personally- it started with unknown spots on the bedding and upon further review, it was just nasty. Manager kindly moved our room, however the next, the toilet didnt work. 3rd times a charm right, nope- so we moved to another hotel. Manager says she is trying but is well aware of the flith and conditions. Take a second thought to staying as I wish I orgianlly followed my gut and made the very quick drive to Cuero to start with. Hotels.com was freat with assiting the cancelation during the stay**

Breakfast was horrible the next day One breakfast is all they had 3 hostess danishes ,eggs were thrown on the top of what looks like old eggs coffee ok but I will not be back and I paid more They make alot of excuses at this hotel.horriable experience.

Beds were comfortable, pillows average. Coffee in room, Typical breakfast for this price range motel. Do not go swimming in the pool as the water is very GREEN. For being in the summer unacceptable.

• Verified traveler (6/5): Ownership step up! - The staff was friendly and fabulous! That said, the owner obviously skimps on conveniences and repairs, including those involving safety. I spoke with numerous guests and none of us received caffeinated coffee in our rooms; the owner shouldn’t make the decision to only provide decaf—it was a cheap decision to be made. A broken hairdryer had no screen and wouldn’t stay in the holder; dangerous as hair can get caught and catch on fire and it could also fall in the sink. The pool (not that I used it) was an off green and certainly needs to be checked by the health department to increase chemicals for algae. The saddest part, the lobby had no air, I felt awful for the staff having to work I. Such hot conditions, especially when they were so friendly and helpful. Ownership needs to step up and make repairs!

There aren't any extravagant cleaning charges and the room was peaceful with friendly employees. Definitely would book again. Wonderful AC as well. Breakfast was awful. We were told there would be eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, basically everything 😋🤤. One of the main reason for our stay at this hotel was for the breakfast. My whole family was looking forward to it and when we went there was nothing but Texas size pancakes and cereal... so disappointing. Not a good selection when you have a pregnant fiance who needs something other than sweets. Also, the beds weren't too comfy.
