Guest Reviews
- Christy (10/5): - Love thos place. Staff is awesome and our cabin was amazingly great. Plan to return
- Chris (10/5): - Rustic cabin is part of Virginia City Historical Association. It is situated across from a train depot that offers short trips into Virginia City. It is also part of a long line of cabins, attached and unattached to the rear as well as examples of a small gold mining town with recreations of each business inside. The Star restaurant was mere steps from our cabin with an attached bakery. Hours and menu are posted outside as well as the rustic Nevada City hotel which offers booking info on the outside. Check in was in Nevada City (3 miles) at the Fairweather Inn. Nevada City is a cute western town with shops, restaurants and museums. We loved the experience. The cabin was adorably outfitted; however, no tv included. We just streamed using our smart phone. Staff stayed in a cabin behind us to offer assistance if needed. A coffee maker and small fridge were present. Heat and a window airconditioner kept the room comfortable. There is spacious grassy areas for kids or dogs to play. Only certain cabins will accomodate a dog. It was a great time, much worth the stay.
- Rhonda (10/5): - Great experience
- Jessica (10/5): An amazing experience - Love the town and the people. The cabins were clean and comfortable and very quiet.
- Donald (8/5): - Unfortunately the provider didn't indicate that check in had to be done at thier main property in another town, 10 minutes away. A major inconvenience since we passed through the town on our way to the cabin.
Communication needs to be updated and highlighted.
- Russell (10/5): - It was so cool to stay in this historic little cabin.
- Jon (10/5): - Just a neat, clean log cabin. Very comfortable.
- David (10/5): - Excellent place to stay and get away from the fast paced life! People are all friendly and helpful and happy!
- Scott (10/5): Almost a night's stay in Nevada City - Hotel staff had worked with us for over a year to accommodate our travel needs, I had to cancel the reservation the day before our stay due to traveler illness.
- Christopher (10/5): Loved it - Much better on the inside than it looks like on the outside.
- Scott (10/5): Wanted to stay in Nevada City Hotel - I had worked with Nevada City Hotel for over a year getting rooms, changing dates, changing number of room, and change people's name that were staying. The staff was ALWAYS helpful and accommodating.
Unfortunately, we could not stay and had to cancel the entire reservation the day before the need.
- Donald (10/5): Cute, Quiet Little Cabin - We were pleasantly surprised with this cute, quiet little cabin. From the outside it doesn't look like much, but inside is very nice. Air conditioning was great for the hot days. The Keurig coffee was fast in the mornings. All the staff was friendly to work with when we needed extra supplies for our stay.
- stephen (10/5): Awesome experience - Amazing location and fabulous cabin! We loved immersing in the Wild West of Nevada City and Virginia City while still having the option of a/c and comfortable beds! We wish we could have stayed long and will definitely be back!
- Roy (10/5): - What a little gem!
- Thomas (10/5): - Very welcoming people that are happy to help you enjoy a stay. Little cabins were so great. Outside look rustic, but that is not the inside. Cozy, clean, and just cool to stay in. There is a better rate and stay with train, gold, and museum entrances if you call in...it is in the Virginia City brochure. Totally worth the package if you are staying 2 days or more.
- Trish (10/5): - Excellent as always!
- Wendy (10/5): Go back in time - wonderful stay! - Don’t miss out on these cabins. The cabins have been updated with modern conveniences. The two queen bed cabin (number 9) is nice size. The bathroom is small, but clean and functional. We enjoyed our two night stay and wish we could have stayed longer. The Star Restaurant is great for breakfast or lunch and within walking distance. The train is across the street and the museum is top notch. We will be back! Thank you for an awesome experience and lodging!
- Joseph (10/5): - The Nevada City cabins were awesome! Outside, they look like original 1880's cains, yet inside they were warm, modern hotel-like rooms. The beds were comfortable, the furnishings looked period-like. The bathrooms were modern, with walk-in showers and soft-close toilet seats. I would stay there again with no hesitation.
- Sara (10/5): - This place was so cool to stay for a night! I loved having our own little cabin and privacy. It was neat to see the town and the history.
- Leigh (8/5): - Loved our cabin. It was clean and comfortable. Really appreciate the management, the day we checked in Mastercard was down! I'd booked the cabin for 3 nights. They worked with me accepting the first nights stay. Mastercard was good to go the the next day. Thank you
- Connie (8/5): - I felt like the room rate was a little steep but over all a fun place to explore.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Everything was amazing except for the service at The Star restaurant.
- Sandra (10/5): - Excellent customer service Patty suggested eating at the Steakhouse and made our reservations for us. The maintenance man was very nice the evening desk clerk shared history stories with us. The Brewery Follies were awesome as always. The new owner of the Star bakery came around and visited with all of us at breakfast. As always I enjoyed my stay at VC.
- Kelly (2/5): - This is by far the worst hotel for customer service. The girl named Janelle that checked us in was an absolute b!tch. She was unbelievably rude and condescending. I will bad mouth this hotel on every platform I can find. They cancelled my reservation for no reason and blamed it on Expedia. The manager did absolutely nothing to make the situation right and up charged us $70. We had to stay because I had booked 3 rooms total and could not leave my friends. Truly one of the worst experiences I have had to deal with. We have traveled the world and never experienced anything like this before. We will go back to staying at the Gray Wild Lodge which is lovely.
The rooms were ok. Nothing great to be honest. The beds we’re comfortable and the bathroom counter top was nice. No bathroom in the lobby which was desperately needed after spending 45 minutes trying to get into our room.
- Jennie (10/5): - Darling cabin. Very clean with friendly staff. No TV, but the view was spectacular. Would definitely recommend!!
- Jjeffrey (8/5): - We found this property on the same day as we were traveling home from a long 3 Natl Park road trip. The property is in a BEAUTIFULLY restored historic western town. The checkin/checkout process at the main hotel in town ( think restored western cowboy main st ) was super simple & the lady who checked us in was wonderfully pleasant & super helpful. The cabins are grouped together a short drive away & we were so pleased with the cabin we had. VERY clean, Cozy, Quite & we felt very Safe there. We would HIGHLY recommend this property !
- Scott (10/5): - Charming rustic cabin. Loved the quiet and peacefulness. Check in at the Fairweather Inn for your key.
- Don (8/5): Surprising - Authentic outside and very nice inside. Resturant was excellent. This location is Nevada city not Virginia city. Check-in was in Virginia City at the fair weather hotel.
- Ralph (10/5): - I was surprisingly pleased with the unit. The beds were comfortable and a very homey atmosphere. Loved the furnishings. At first concerned about no TV but, I settled and slept amazingly well with out my back ground noise.
- Nathan (10/5): - Love staying in Virginia City!
- Cynthia (10/5): - Nice little place will stay again
- Patricia (8/5): - Quaint hotel. Small original style rooms. Overpriced but nicely located on Main Street.
No ice machine but clerk offered us a few cups of ice from a bag in staff fridge.
- Laura (10/5): - This was the second time we stayed at the cabins, and both experiences were excellent. Although on the smaller size, the cabin is smaller...but clean and cozy. The staff was very nice and welcoming. It is very convenient to be able to park in front of your cabin. We would definitely stay here again!
- Robert (8/5): - Rustic cabin split into two rental rooms, could hear our neighbors through the connecting door. Bathroom had been remodeled nicely. Part of an historic gold mining era landmark property - no services.
- Sue (10/5): - The management was so friendly. They made dinner reservations for us and helped us in every way. The cabins are very clean. New bathrooms. Wish we could have stayed longer. We’d come back in a heartbeat!
- Lewis (8/5): - Very clean accommodations, had wi-fi but no TV. Would be nice to utilize streaming services on a TV instead of my laptop. Bathroom was tight. Had to sit at an angle on the toilet because of the wall that was only about 14 inches from the front of the toilet. The door to the room was from the 1800’s and I could see daylight along all four edges of the door and in various spots throughout the door. Could not find a key drop off box when checking out at 0800 with no one around the lobby. Had to leave key on top of a computer keyboard at the desk, in the hope that they would find it. Would probably not stay there again, but one night would not be too bad.
- Douglas (10/5): Great cabin - Great cabin, nice beds, & roomy. Was clean although there were a few dead flies around. The ambience is terrific. We we were early season visitors and the cabin likely hadn't been rented much yet. The review has Eco-friendly question. The cabin has a sod roof, that sounds pretty eco-friendly to me. I enjoyed our stay in Nevada City/Virginia City more than I expected. Might have been the first time ever that I felt I received fair value for a relatively expensive room. No ghost appearances though, which was disappointing.
- Amy (10/5): - Clean and well maintained. Absolutely adorable. Had plenty of room and the beds where comfortable.
- Laura (8/5): - Although this cabin was on the smaller size, it was very clean, comfortable, and cozy. The air conditioning and WI FI was nice to have. We did have a issue with the hot water, but maintenance did respond quickly to fix it. It is a very simple cabin with the basics, but no TV, microwave or coffee pot, because of this, I feel like the price is a little high. It was nice to be able to park in front of our cabin. It was also inconvenient after arriving to the cabins we learned that we had to go to another property to get our key, as well as returning them. The staff on site was very nice. The area was beautiful. Overall, we would stay here again.
- Cheryl (10/5): - Amazing stay. Beautiful cabin and property was quiet, open and lots of room for the dog to run. Amazing stay!
- Amy (10/5): - Had great stay. Rooms clean and comfortable.
Star cafe had good breakfast . And living museum was very good.
- Lisa (10/5): - Very clean and comfortable cabin!
- Patricia (10/5): - Comfy, relaxing, well maintained, friendly people, we will stay there again for sure!
- Dalibor (10/5): - Rustic, quiet and beautiful surroundings away from the crowds. Awesome lace to stay at!
- Sena (2/5): Okay if you know what your in for. - Not so good. Nothing was open in this town. Front desk failed to mention our room was in the next town. It took us 20 min to realize Nevada city was actually a ghost town 5 min down the road. Nothing to do no restaurants, no a/c, no t.v. Which was not mentioned in hotel description.
- Jaime (8/5): - I absolutely love it here we come every year. I just feel the price is just a little too high. Maybe if they threw in free tickets to the historical village next door it would make me feel better about spending over 200 for the little cabin. Just a thought! Thank you to the staff for special accommodations! You guys are great!!
- Steve (8/5): - The staff was wonderful at this property. There is no Air Conditioning in the Cabins, but the nights are so cool that you really don't need it. There is one cabin that is connected to another which is great if you are renting both cabins, but the wall between them is thin that you can hear everything that is going on in the next cabin. So request a solo cabin. The Star Restaurant, which located right on the property, was terrific and they often have live music until 8 pm. I will go back again next year!
- Sandra (10/5): - Great service the cabin was cute and very clean
- Joyce (10/5): Joyce - Our stay was amazing. The cabin way exceeded my expectations and Patty at the front desk was so welcoming and accommodating. Wish it wasn’t the end of the season because I want to come back!! See you next year.
- Marilyn (10/5): Clean fun cabin to go with the theme of the town. - A nice updated cabin to stay that fit in with the ambiance of the historical area. It looks quite rustic, and is updated rustic inside. Very clean, bright, updated bathroom fixtures, nice shower, comfortable bed, and pet friendly. Pretty basic, which is okay to be without TV, microwave or fridge. Our Cabin was on the street, but there weren't too much traffic and didn't get noisy. Other cabins were behind us and off the street. Parking in front of door. Even though it was August, it got cold at night and we were happy the heater worked nicely. The check in and out office was in VA City, and it was fun talking to the lady who was at the desk. Nice stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was wonderful to spend the night in a historic place. The area is so quaint with the bakery and diner right down the street 😃
- HUBERT (10/5): - We booked into the cabins. I was very leery. But the cabins were rustic on the outside but rather good inside. Beds very comfortable.
- Amber (8/5): Quiet and peaceful - We enjoyed a night of unplugged rest. It was nice to not have tv for a night. The cabin was a No Frills room but clean and comfortable. It was very warm when we were there, and although the cabin stayed fairly cool, a screen door would be a nice addition so that you could enjoy a breeze without the mosquitos. The area was beautiful however, i was disappointed that restaurants/shops/saloon were not open and even to checkin we needed to go to Virginia City. The staff there tho were very pleasant and kind. We were there on a thursday in the summer season so i thought there would be more happening. Overall a quiet restful night was enjoyable
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Quiet,friendly.In town.unique place.clean
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Stayed in log cabin. Outside was very rustic, but inside was completely re-done and wonderful.
- Kendra (10/5): Hidden Gem - I absolutely loved it there! I definite hidden treasure I will be visiting again. Patty was a delight, and everyone was friendly and welcoming.
- Timothy James (8/5): - They had a few issues when we checked in wrong key for the room and no hot water. Thet gave us a different room which ended up being a very nice room we enjoyed our stay after the small inconvenience.
- Jeff (10/5): - Stayed in a rustc cabin with sod and cactus roof, and beautiful inside.
- Wayne (4/5): Avoid until covid is over - Was expecting to stay in the motel, but got put in a cabin in Nevada City. The real awful thing, no where to eat dinner, most restaurants closed, the few that are open close at 3 or 4.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Cute little one-room cabin. It was rustic on the outside and pretty clean on the inside. The bathroom was actually very nice. Because it's in a "rustic" location, there were ants and spiders around but not anything like an infestation. The soap dispenser in the shower was empty, no shampoo, etc. Overall we were pleased however. The day we stayed there was a day the cafe was closed so there was no food available anywhere.
- Karla (10/5): ery happy guests - The room was just what I expected. Very clean and inviting, the bathroom was updated with a nice roomy shower. My husband and I were both very happy!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The cabin was so cute inside! It was updated and so clean! Staff was great with communicating with us via text for checking in.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - First of all, we drove to the hotel. The sign on the door said we needed to drive to another hotel (a mile away) to get the keys and sign in. Then, when we did that, we were assigned a cabin, even tho I had requested a room in the old hotel. For a long time, I had wanted to stay in the old historic hotel. But we needed a room, so we accepted the cabin. I was very disappointed and our stay was definitely not worth $160.00.
- Dmk0003 (10/5): - Be prepared because it is definitely remote. But very cool break from the parks and a unique experience you won’t get elsewhere. Great one night adventure very close to West Yellowstone and Bozeman. Management even gives you a cell phone and text!!
- EVan (2/5): - The cabin was out behind the "hotel". There was no one
there for any information or check-in. The Hotel had no security or any other safety measures. And the whole place did not meet the requirements for cleaning required by the current guidelines. We could not be certain that there were no mice or other rodents in the "cabin". Not a good facility. I received a cancellation notice from the lady for the stay and then my credit card was charged. Not good business. We did not stay in the cabin or hotel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This was truly an adventure, to stay in a place where cowboys stayed, walked and carried on was truly amazing. This is not for a luxury stay it was about seeing history. And no I didn’t see or hear any ghosts but it’s said they have been seen and heard. Lol
- Verified traveler (2/5): - What we didn’t like about the property: We found a crack vile filled with a white powder substance in the hallway. We told the front desk and showed them and I asked if I should call the Sheriff Dept. And she said no, the Mgr. will handle it. My husband and I were shocked to say the least. We also didn’t like that our toilet didn’t work. The shower was disgusting. We basically ran out of the place scared. Best of all, they said they wouldn’t refund our money. Would never recommend this place to anyone.
- James (8/5): - Check in was quick and easy. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The hotel and surroundings take you back to the early mining days.
The Star Cafe and Bakery were outstanding! The very best!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean and cozy
Everyone was very friendly
Very accommodating
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was unfortunate the cafe was closed due to staff shortage. The entire place is cool to explore tho.
- Amy (10/5): Shabby chic excellent cabin - Most restful night of sleep we had on our trip. No TV was refreshing. Didn’t need AC, the night was cool. Loved the decor. Super clean, helpful staff. Best coffee in the saloon and pastries from bakery were delicious for breakfast. Will definitely stay again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very cute and comfortable. I had to unplug the glade plugin because the smell was too much. The 10:00 checkout was pretty hard to adhere to but I would still recommend this place. Oh the saloon coffee shop is great too. Cool saloon doors.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We stayed 2 nights in a cute little cabin that was very clean and comfortable. There is no TV or internet so this is clearly a get away from the 2019 "tech" obsessed society we live in. After touring the old buildings and walking through Virginia City shops, there isn't anything else to do really, but it was still a nice break for us to just "chill" as during our 3 week vacation we were in 8 states and Alberta, Canada. If you are looking for a more authentic "ghost" town or "mining" town, Bannack, MT which we happened upon years ago, feels more realistic than Nevada City, but there is no place to stay there. As an aside concerning Virginia City: the "Steak House" is way overpriced, and the portions are painfully small.
- Dan (10/5): - Cabin #5 was perfect. I was unsure of what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. We had been tent camping, fishing, and exploring SW Montana for a week, so a hot shower was on the top of the list. The on demand hot water heater did not disappoint. Nevada City is a great place to explore. Staying right in town made for a stress free visit. Breakfast is available next door. We ate there in the morning with no complaints. The banana bread french toast was a hit with the kids.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property is rustic and gives you the experience of sleeping in a tiny, refurbished cabin from the 1860's--except the inside has been updated to make it comfortable for someone who would prefer not to have dirt floors or an outhouse. The rooms do not have televisions, radios, WiFi or any of the electronic annoyances that would detract from the experience.
