• rosa maria (8/5): Melhor localização - Localizacao fantastica, lindo o por do sol da piscina. Os quartos confortaveis em meio a um bosque. Bom cafe da manha. O hotel nao possui sinal de tv nem aberta e nem fechada. Outro ponto negativo e a roupa de cana e banho, as toalhas muito, muito velhas quase rasgando, um desrespeito ao hospede. As da piscina eram de melhor qualidade. Para a estrutura fisica da pousada merecia melhorar esses pontos, enxoval dos quartos e sinal de tv.
• PABLO (6/5): Lindo, porém mal cuidado. - Estive com minha família em janeiro de 2025 no Portaló. A Pousada é linda, vista do chalé é sensacional, o chalé era para ser incrível. Porém, tudo no hotel é velho, com péssima manutenção. Toalhas velhas, Boias nas piscinas desbotadas do sol, espreguiçadeiras velhas. Mas o pior foi no dia em que choveu que alagou meu quarto. Vazaza uma cachoeira pelo teto. Terror e pânico. Acordamos molhados. Fui procurar ajuda e tive que levar para o quarto panelas e baldes com ajuda do vigia. No dia seguinte não tinha toalhas disponíveis no hotel, por que todas estavam molhadas (segundo eles). Péssima experiência

• Javier Ernesto (8/5): Os colaboradores do hotel , são um diferencial!! - A estadia foi sensacional, os colaboradores super receptivos, principalmente o Wallace foi nota 1.000, conseguindo passeio sensacional em cima da hora , com preço justo, sem contar a massagem que minha esposa e eu fizemos com a massoterapeuta kat, foi divina, saímos super relaxados, e tb a drenagem que ela fez na minha mulher, foi muito boa. A única coisa que não foi muito boa , foi ar condicionado, acho que pelo o quarto ser grande , não gelou muito, mas conseguimos dormir sem problemas, e tb não conseguiram servir almoço no domingo, devido a demanda, conforme nos informaram
• José Wallace (8/5): Não demos sorte com o nosso quarto! - O hotel em si é excelente em todos os aspectos, no entanto, no nosso quarto deixou muito por desejar, o wi fi não funciona no quarto, a luz central está com mal contato e só acende quando “ela deseja”, a televisão fica chuviscando o tempo todo e no último dia pegamos uma chuva que molho bastante o quarto com costeiras persistentes!

Det eneste minus jeg kan sætte på der her sted, er at der kun er wifi i receptionen, der må de lige få sat nogle roter op, så der også er på værelserne og i fælles områderne. Men ellers et skønt sted, som jeg varmt kan anbefale.

O hotel é bom, principalmente na área externa, é bastante ampla, piscina com uma visão excelente do mar, funcionários atenciosos, café da manhã básico mas tranquilo. Porém os quartos são antigos com acessos de madeira "O FEDOR DE MOFO É TERRÍVEL", quem tiver renite ou algum problema alérgico eu não recomendo. O hotel está pecando em não reformar os quartos que claramente são muito antigos, eles até deixam as portas abertas antes da hospedagem mas não adianta. Fiquei todo "entupido" ao amanhecer após a noite em que fiquei hospedado. Fic a dica para o hotel que tem tudo para ser um dos melhores do Morro de São Paulo pela sua localização privilegiada.

Observação: Tudo que é consumido no Bar do Hotel é cobrado Taxa de Serviço, para quem está hospedando no mesmo, é meio sem lógica essa taxa. Observação 2: A música da piscina fica alta o tempo todo, mesmo sem ninguém na piscina, o que acaba tirando um pouco da "paz" dentro do quarto. Observação 3: Poderiam ser mais flexíveis em relação as músicas, estava eu e minha namorada apenas na piscina, pedimos para colocar um outro tipo e foi negado, desanimamos total de ficar ali e buscamos um outro ambiente pela cidade.

(Barman Demersson, do bar da piscina é um cara excepcional, deixou a estadia melhor ainda).

Café da manhã básico (decepcionante o café da manhã). Marquei jantar com minha família por 2 noites e pasmem n fomos atendidos , inclusiva na hora da confirmação do jantar da segunda noite o proprietário do hotel estava presente e eu novamente pedi confirmação sobre o jantar e foi confirmadíssimo, quando chegamos a noite o funcionário disse q o restaurante n estava funcionando eu perguntei “ como assim? Vcs confirmaram, o dono estava presente. O funcionário disse q ele mandou pedir desculpas! Simplesmente assim .N recomendo este hotel, pois por muito menos vcs encontram coisa melhor ( muito caro pelo q oferecem aos hóspedes). De bom a estrutura do hotel e o atendimento e a simpatia dos funcionários. Com relação ao hotel a localização é ótima pra quem chaga ( fica na saída do cais a direita 30 metros se tanto. Mas para quem quer ficar mais de 1 dia e ir as praias n vale a pena pois tem uma escadaria enorme para subir e descer. Para se ir as praias e ao centro tem q enfrentar esta escadaria.

Você não precisa nem contratar o serviço de carregador de malas, pois saiu do cais, a entrada é ao lado. Os funcionários são muito atenciosos, desde da recepção - Jenifer e Jaqueline nos recepcionou muito bem e estavam prontas sempre que precisamos, as meninas do café e o pessoal do bar molhado, sempre muito simpáticos e atenciosos. Ficamos no chalé 16, caso você tenha problema de mobilidade, peça para trocar, pois ele é o chalé mais alto do hotel, 2min subindo sem parar de muitas escadas, porém a privacidade e a vista são sensacionais. O quarto sempre limpo, tivemos alguns impasses na chegada com chave, frigobar e tv, porém todos foram resolvidos com agilidade. O hotel dispõe de bar molhado, toalhas de praia, piscina e jacuzzi maravilhosas, vale muito a pena. O por do sol do hotel é lindo demais!

Me hospedaria novamente no hotel caso voltasse a Morro.

We felt very relaxed!! - We stayed in a lovely, comfortable bungalow, surrounded by nature, birds with a view to the river, where the boats dock. Breakfast has a great variety of fruits, juices, homemade jams, breads, cakes and other delights. The property is in a fabulous location for viewing sunsets, especially by the pool !

• onlyraphael (8/5): Great EXPERIENCE... Perfect start of the Year! - The hotel is well located by the pier, where all boats arrive. The location is amazing... but what makes the hotel unique is the staff. From the manager (Rita) to the front desk staff (Bruno, Barbara, Debora...) to the waiters (Keven...) the service was AMAZING!!! THANK YOU!!! The rooms are well clean and with minor need of improvement (such as handles in the bathroom door apt 1 and 3). Breakfast misses a bit of the regional touch with someone doing the tapioca to be seen and other ingredients of the local cuisine and a bit more "sorria, voce esta na bahia" ("smile, you are in bahia" - state slogan) The sunset bar is a great place to be with friends and family for a sunset drink. Prices are normal and reasonable. We spent 8 days there and could not have chosen a better place to stay in Morro de Sao Paulo. Looking forward to be back one day!
• MARIO LUIZ OLIVEIRA (4/5): Não recomendo!! Principalmente pra casal! - Não gostei!!! No banheiro, a duchinha estava vazando e não compraram a peça para reposição, 2 lâmpadas queimadas, foi pedido a troca por 3 vezes e não trocaram por não terem reservas. A coisa boa foi o por do sol e o café da manhã, o restante não gostei. Ficamos no penúltimo apartamento, n. 17 tem que subir muito até chegar lá, no Morro é tudo a pé e ficamos cansados, não foi uma estadia confortável. Sem contar que, paguei quase o dobro no site, do que o valor da diária cobrado no balcão, não entendi nada....Hoteis.com!!! Fiquei decepcionado com a pousada, diante de tantas propagandas!

• Samela (8/5): Quarto com cheiro forte de morfo - Hotel bonito, com vista sensacional. Porém, destaco dois pontos negativos: o quarto estava com BASTANTE cheiro de morfo (o que dificultou a dormida) e o café da manhã com poucas opções.

• Taise (6/5): Bom mas com críticas - Trata-se de um aparte hotel. Ficamos por 6 dias. A estrutura é linda e muito confortável. Área externa excelente tbm. Porém alguns pontos críticos: 1. Limpeza e higiene, deixam a desejar 2. É normal ter muito mosquito nesses lugares, porém, nos incomodou o fato de sequer terem um inseticida para os hóspedes 3. O apartamento é ótimo mas não tem utensílios de cozinha, se quiser usar, tem que pagar 4. A cozinha é muito limitada (poucas opções) Acho que por esses pontos ☝ Falta um pouco de capricho e mais “cuidado” para agradar os hóspedes, sao coisas pequenas que podem agradar e tornar a estadia mais confortável e excelente.

In particular, Director Rita, is remarkable for the warm and courteous attitude. You can contact her and get help from her in any subject. I highly recommend the hotel . for this hotel is nomber 1. I'll go back to this hotel for sure
• Anthony (8/5): Lovely hotel right at the port - We had a bungalow to sleep four people. It was spacious with a front room with a double bed and a main bedroom with a king sized bed. The bathroom was very big with a spa tub and excellent shower overhead. The only issue was a leaking air-conditioner in the main bedroom that took a day to repair. We had lunch outside which was really good.

• Christian_Taylor (8/5): Incredible location, great bar for sunset and beautiful pool - Overall, I had a great stay at Hotel Portaló. There are some elements to the hotel that make it a wonderful place to stay. It is one of the few hotels in the town that gets a view of the sunset, and the hotel capitalises on this with its pool and lively bar, both of which look out across the water. There's normally a DJ at sunset and the caipirinhas were great and reasonably priced. It was low season, so the swim-up bar at the pool was closed, but I imagine it's a nice place to enjoy a drink when it's open. The room itself had great views, a relaxing hammock and outdoor table and was very clean and comfortable. The hotel is located right at the port, so when you arrive by boat, you are basically dropped off right at the hotel - which is great. The hotel has some room for improvement, but depending on who you are or the type of holiday you are looking for, these factors may not be so important to you. While there was a lot to choose from at the breakfast buffet, it lacked a certain feeling of care that you normally find with breakfasts in Brazil. The wifi didn't reach my room, so if you want to do work or use internet while staying there, you'll probably need to sit in the common areas (by the pool, in the bar or the restaurant area). This was disappointing as I am a writer and the balcony area of my room would have been an ideal place to work, alas I had to sit by the noisy pool area instead. I found some of the staff to be lovely and helpful and some others to be a bit aloof. The hotel is built on a hill so it's not ideal if you aren't able to walk up steep inclines, etc. If you are bothered by noise, you may not like that the boats like to sound their horns throughout the day and night. I thought it added to the charm. Overall, if you're not a traveller who plans to hang out in their room all day or who wants a high degree of service, than you'll enjoy your stay here. Come for the incredible views, the beautiful gardens, the cool bar and the lovely pool!
• Funkysmurfy (6/5): Paradise lost - Hotel Portalo is suffering for the same blight that is affecting much of the island of Morro de Sao Paulo. Increased popularity and tourist numbers are driving down standards to the lowest common denominator. No doubt once this hotel was a fine place. Nice little bungalows terraced up steep green hillsides and overlooking a sparkling sea. Whats not to like? The breakfasts were basic and served with the same surly style that the entire hotel staff seem to exude. Their location makes the hotel bankable so there seems to be no need to provide service above the bare minimum. Even for Bahia - where service can be idiosyncratic and slow, but generally well meaning - this place oozes indifference. But the greatest drawback is the noise. Not just the interminable boats that rock up to the jetty from sunrise to sunset, but the music. You get blasted all day long (and night) by multiple sound systems; even if high energy techno is your idea of a relaxing morning tune, you're never going to get into the groove because of the high number of sound systems competing to be heard. Stay somewhere else on the island away from the noise or, better still, go somewhere further south in Bahia and find the real Brazil.
• ISR77 (10/5): Great Experience - We were a group (family) of 7 members, sharing a comfortable chalet (one private room, 3 teenagers on the ground floor and 2 at the "2nd floor"); the only difficulty was having only one bathroom; the view (from the chalet) was beautiful; service was great (room service, reception and the pool staff); we weren't bothered by the port noise. Wifi is (reasonably) working within the chalet, better in the public areas; breakfast (by the pool) is good. In summary - very enjoyable.
• albertsquarebcn (6/5): Overpriced. Noisy. Poor service and wifi. Hotel NOT recommended. But go for a sunset drink there. - Hotel Portalo is marketed as one of the luxury hotels on Morro Sao Paulo. Although the photos look nice, they don't tell the true story. The hotel is located on the harbour. Boats start making loud horn noises around 6:30 am and this goes on throughout the day. Starting in the late afternoon, the hotel has a DJ that blasts club music to cater to their bar clientele. The result is noise from morning to night. Not relaxing at all. Other things...dirty pool, staff only speak Portuguese, no hot water for two days, wifi often didn't work or was very slow. So while the hotel and landscape is beautiful, the experience is not. I don't recommend staying here at all. I do recommend going to the bar one night for a sunset drink.
• JoergRausch (10/5): Beautiful island, beautiful view from hotel. - Morro de Sao Paulo is beautiful. Start point is the harbour. Lot of boats and people coming day and night and most time musik. Whow want's the best view and is not senstive to noise, will have a beautiful view on the harbour and a beautiful stay in this hotel. We are a family from Germany and staied there for two weeks and loved it. But we knew about the noise, about Brazil, but also about the view. We had amazing two weeks and would do same again in future.
• newlatintraveller (8/5): Tropical Paradise - Overlooking the harbour, set in beautiful gardens, wonderful friendly staff we loved this place. Stayed in the Fernando Pessoa chalet which is set up the hill and so a bit away from the rooms pool area which has music every evening so probably a bit of noise. From the bed you can see the sea, end the day on the varanda watching the great sunsets and go to sleep at night to the sound of the sea below you. Pure tropical relaxation.
• D8683EAmariab (10/5): TOP service and amazing accomodation - My husband and I had an amazing experience staying at Portalo for our honeymoon. The staff prepared a surprise for us decorating the room with local flowers, making our day even more special. The maids ensured our room was immaculate on a daily basis and the receptionists were very friendly and also extremely helpful. All activities inside of the hotel are included, so no hidden charges. Free wifi with excellent reception! Our stuff were untouched and we felt very secure and cared for here. Highlight of the trip: outdoor whirlpool bath for 2 underneath a star fruit tree, where you can bath and pick and eat the fruit at the same time. Simply paradisiacal! I unreservedly recommend this Hotel for travellers for its international standard.
• GemmaW1 (8/5): Great location and rooms - Great hotel - possibly it's best quality is it's location - right next to the port which means you can easily carry your bags to the hotel rather than hire help! Staff very helpful and friendly. Reception great for recommendations. Relaxing place to stay. Beautiful view from our terrace balcony overlooking the sea. Pool good for the sunset. Would stay here again. Great island and hotel.
• 345cocol (6/5): Low season = poor service ??? - The hotel itself is beautiful and clean, with the best sunset view in Morro de Sao Paulo, but their service is extremely slow and poor. We went there in the low season, and that might explain such bad service. Half of the staff we met were really friendly and helpful, but the other half seemed to simply hate their job. It took them 30 min to find someone who knew how to turn on the jacuzzi located next to the pool. Our last day in the hotel there was no breakfast buffet. They said it was because there were too few customers at the hotel, and that they would serve the breakfast directly at our table. Very disgusting was to note that they were serving us the left-overs from the previous morning... We had booked the “Chalé Superior”, on the very top of the hotel (like a third floor). We found out there are no elevators once we arrived. Definitely not recommendable for people with reduced mobility or trouble walking up and down lots of stairs and steep ramps. When checking out, we had to wait another 30 min until they finally found somebody to take our luggage down from our room at the top (too many stairs for us to do it ourselves). I don’t see how this is considered a 4 star hotel, except for its price.
• hudsoncss (10/5): The Best place where you can stay in! - I've been in Morro de Sao Paulo several times and I can assure you there's no place better to stay in than the Hotel Portalo. This one is the best place to stay in, unless you want to stay in a calm place (without people noise almost), which you can get staying at 4th and 5th beach, only. My opinion is based on the following facts and experiences: - As I guess you know, there's no public/private transport system in Morro de Sao Paulo island, you have to walk and walk... so If you decided to stay far from the island entry will be more difficult for you enjoy the most interesting views and restaurants. Note: after the 1st beach you have to walk over sand only, there's no pavement. - The hotel is located near of the point of entry island, so your heavy luggage will not bother you. - It is located in front of the sea where you will have THE BEST sunset view possible of the island. - The hotel has beautiful rooms and external area with swimming pool, gardens, original forestland, natural aquarium with a small cascate (to enjoy the soothing sound of water flowing over the rocks) as well as great services and staff; - Access to the beach directly from the hotel - The hotel restaurant is very good, so there's no need go to outside to have a lunch or dinner; - It is not as expensive as the hotel located at 4th and 5th beach
