Guest Reviews
- Noelle (7/5): This hotel has an old world appearance. It needs to be freshened up with a light renovation. It has a low energy vibe. N - Great location on a street full of restaurant selections. Needs updating of lighting in rooms. Very dark and hard to see items.
- Ian (9/5): This is the place to stay in Mérida. Wonderful room, location and staff. exceptional - Loved this hotel. Great location, beautiful rooms , amazing staff Nothing
- Colin (8/5): Delightful . - Beautiful room, friendly staff, and dead quiet. Breakfast could be better.
- marie (9/5): Parfait! - Ravissante maison dans un superbe quartier de Merida. La cour est fraîche grâce à la fontaine et la jolie piscine, et aux arbres incroyables. Très calme et hyper bien placé. Juste le lit un peu trop dur
- Manuel (10/5): Muy buena atencion - Muy buen seevicio Todo bien, nada q no nos haya gustado
- Thomas K (8/5): This is a nice retreat with room for improvement. - The location and ambience were very nice and staff was helpful in making reservations in nearby restaurants. The a la carte items offered for breakfast, albeit expensive, were very good. Unlike upon checkin, the omnipresent staff did not make any efforts to help with the luggage during checkout. They just looked away. Likewise, the staff was ignorant of guests relaxing in the beautiful courtyard by starting to sand one of the doors. This made us head out earlier than we had planned.
- CLAUDE (9/5): Un endroit plein de charme - Un boutique hôtel avec beaucoup de caractère très bien situé
Un personnel attentif et efficace
- Nicolas (8/5): -
- Elizabeth (10/5): Fantastic! - Everything. It's an excellent hotel with well trained staff. I wish there had been a restaurant but there will be one soon and like the hotel, I am sure it will be beautiful and delicious if the breakfasts were any indication.
- Steve (9/5): Would recommend - Small , elegant and well located hotel with very nice staff
- Kayla (10/5): - Absolutely beautiful stay, lovely staff, dream experience. Could stay here forever.
- Daniel (10/5): - Fantastic stay… the courtyard and architecture was immersive and inviting. The restaurants and walkability was the driving factor for this property and it was perfect. Staffing were incredible kind and accommodating (ensuring I had enough cerveza at the ready). The hammocks under the canopy was a dream rest spot.

- alessandro (10/5): Gemma coloniale in terra maya - Albergo piccolo ma curatissimo in ogni dettaglio. Staff estremamente cortese ed efficiente. Lo consiglio assolutamente
- Gene (10/5): Tranquil Oasis Hidden Gem - This place is yet another hidden gem in the beautiful city of Merida! Right on the main gastronomic district street (Calle 47) near Centro and Paseo de Montejo. It was a tranquil and beautiful oasis. Walking distance to all the great restaurants like Oliva Enoteca, 130 Grados, and more! Sorry I don't have names of the staff but all were fantastic!
- Jarrod (10/5): - Loved everything about the hotel and Mérida!
- Jessica (10/5): Beautiful street with wonderful restaurants and a bed to dream about! - Location, amenities, lovely staff. I will absolutely visit again!
- Daniels (9/5): Superb - Beautiful small hotel
- Flore (10/5): Exceptional - The staff was amazing !
- skicesana (10/5): Beautiful Small Hotel, Perfectly Located - Lovely small hotel in the center of Merida. Very well-located with close proximity to numerous restaurants and bars in the beautiful center of the city. Professional and very accommodating staff. Beautiful patio area, pleasant in-house. Delicious, well-prepared breakfast. Highly recommended.
- GarethE61 (10/5): Excellent hotel. - This excellent hotel offers spacious very well-appointed loggia rooms which are high-ceilinged and cool. We received superb friendly service at all times with plenty of areas to relax and a refreshing pool. The breakfast was served with elegance and style.
- Larry (7/5): Great place , great staff …..POOR management due to MONEY GRABBING …..that’s 😞 sad . Has run me off - Food and staff are loud of this world 5 starr Price was not in line with facility and expectations. There are MANY MANY properties that will offer / give muc( more for the price. I understand about the property and its history ( this was never brought up in booking ) .
There was NO LENIENCY in the pricing after the property made its mistake. This is a sad thing …. MONEY MONEY MONEY aid a poor way to keep customers. I LOVE THE STAFF and location …. But sadly I will NEVER go back from the way I was treated …..so you could make your MONEY .Poor management , this will never happen in the U.S.
- chrisbK7498FU (10/5): Fantastic boutique hotel - A fabulous boutique hotel where nothing is too much trouble for the welcoming staff. Location is great - Calle 47 is a lovely street and an easy walk into town, with plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from.
Our room was delightful and the a la carte breakfast was wonderful. We would highly recommend.
- Alexandra (9/5): Superb -
- Tim (10/5): Superb Boutique Hotel in a great location in a lovely City - Beautifully restored historic building set in lovely grounds and in a great location Nil
- imm118 (10/5): Elegant Oasis - We loved our 3 night stay in this beautiful, stylish and secluded hotel. Our garden room was spacious with lots of amenities and even had a sunken bath. Breakfast in the covered courtyard was delicious. A very short walk from the hotel is a fabulous quirky restaurant called Catrin.
- Danila (9/5): A little oasis in the centre of Mérida - Hotel located in what has to be one of the loveliest streets in Merida. Lots of restaurants, art galleries and small shops. Very central and within walking distance to all the city’s cultural sights.
Rooms very comfortable and staff super helpful. Nothing to dislike
- Jill (10/5): Exceptional -
- Katharine (10/5): - The hotel and grounds are beautiful. The service by each employee was superb. Lovely to have breakfast in the breezeway. Charming living room and bar.
Every hotel bed pillow we have had in Mexico has been like a gunnysack. A desk and chair would be helpful for a computer user.
- Thomas (10/5): - A stunning boutique hotel. Spanish Colonial style and the rooms are very well appointed. Service was exceptional.
- Maureen (10/5): - Casa Lecanda is a beautiful boutique hotel in an excellent area of Mérida. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The breakfasts and margaritas also excellent. Highly recommend.
- petepaw (10/5): Stop your search, you found your hotel! - You know when you love a place so much that you want to write the perfect review? Then you delay so long cause you are worried that you won't be able to do so? Perfection is the enemy of action, no?
We loved this place. I spent many an hour reviewing options in Merida to stay, and I doubt that I will ever stay elsewhere after enjoying Lecanda!
The rooms are exceptional, but the service is the real star of the show. Like a cocktail? check, they'll make you a great one. Love breakfast? check, they'll prepare and serve you in style! Need a tour, etc.? They'll organize a private tour that will be better than you could have done so yourself.
The location in town seemed great. The nearby retail was updated and nice, and other parts of the town were all within reasonable walking distance.
It really felt as if we were living inside a movie set (in the best way possible). A really memorable stay!
- J1429DDtodds (10/5): Exquisite, world class boutique hotel. Overall, maybe best hotel experience ever. - Absolutely wonderful. Must be best of Mérida because we’ve traveled high end all over the world and this was possibly our best hotel experience ever. Like being taken care of in a gorgeous private home. It’s simply exquisite. Beautiful courtyard around pool with huge mature trees. Lovely furnishings and artwork.
Indoor rooms are gorgeous as well…bar, formal dining, and kitchen…oh yeah the kitchen is open to the courtyard and beautiful as well. Even the courtyard bathroom is beautiful, with gorgeous tile and high ceiling.
Large deluxe rooms with very high ceilings. Large stone tubs for 2. Very romantic.
Fantastic staff throughout. Enjoyed conversing with our server Mario. My wife and her sister hugged him and teared up when we had to leave. Our early maid Theresa so full of joy with her lovely smile. Never met the later maid who did turndown service but enjoyed the yummy chocolates she left.
Wonderful breakfast with wide selection. Can’t go wrong, all superb. And inexpensive, as are the drinks from the bar. No food service after 11 am or so but many great restaurants in easy walking distance. Street recently reconstructed, clean and beautiful, one way. Lined with very good restaurants for a few blocks. Oliva Enoteca across the street has some of best Italian I’ve ever eaten. Fine Mexican a block or 2 further at Micaela Mar y Lena.
We made roadtrip to Ixi’im for dinner. Interesting but a mistake. Only 11km away but took an hour to get there. Did tasting menu, overpriced, some great, some weird.
Road trip to Uxmal was fantastic. Had drinks afterwards at the Hacienda before driving back.
Another road trip to Sotuta de Peon for tour of the hacienda and algae farm/rope production. Very enjoyable tour, great history lesson including how Mayans were exploited to build unbelievable wealth from rope business. Beautiful property. Lots of old machinery still running…how they used to make rope when these people were among the wealthiest in the world. At one point you basically go inside a machine grinding the algae with huge old belts and pulleys all around you. With a cenote swim underground at the end if you want (we opted for drinks instead)
- todd (10/5): - 3 nights in June ‘24. We have traveled all over the world for many years and this place was the best hotel experience we’ve ever had despite staying during a cyclone that flooded the streets of Merida everyday. Feels like being taken care of in a private home.
The place is gorgeous and loaded with old world charm. Fantastic decor, artwork furnishings etc. Very comfortable beautiful rooms with very high ceilings. Very romantic as well. Beautiful courtyard for breakfast by pool. Nice sitting area outside bar. All the rooms inside are beautiful as well…the foyer, the bar, the formal dining, the kitchen….oh yeah, the kitchen is gorgeous.
The staff is fantastic. Service couldn’t have been better. Enjoyed conversing with our server Mario so much my wife teared up after hugging him goodbye. Our early maid Theresa has such a beautiful smile, so much joy…and did wonderful work. Never met whomever did turndown service including yummy chocolates.
Only breakfast here but fantastic food. And inexpensive as is the bar.
Located on a very nice recently reconstructed one way street, all brand new, clean and beautiful with numerous great restaurants in easy walking distance. Some of best Italian food I've ever had just across street Oliva Enoteca. Great Mexican at Micaela Mar y Lena a block down.
A little more than an hour drive to Uxmal ruins which are fantastic.
Cooking class was a great experience with trip to market for ingredients first.
- Jo_Rose_Gum (10/5): Outstanding - fabulous authentic accommodation - We were delighted with our stay at Casa Lecunda. There are only seven rooms in this delightful boutique hotel, which for us somewhat resembled a Moroccan riad. We found the service excellent. On arrival we had a complementary margarita. Our room was roomy enough and decorated with tiles and Mexican wood features that gave it an authentic feel. The rooms look out onto an open area, which has lots of seating and swimming pool. There were shutters for the windows so that you can ‘black out’ the room. As there is a policy of no children, it was very quiet. Charming, quaint, quiet, excellent service. While it provided breakfast, there is no onsite restaurant. This didn’t matter to us as there are a number of great restaurants nearby and the hotel manager gave us some excellent recommendations. Couldn't recommend this accommodation more highly!
- Henry (9/5): Superb -
- Janet L (10/5): Elegant and tranquil in the heart of the city. - A beautiful space, artfully decorated! Amazingly friendly and helpful team members. We loved our short stay oh and… The bed was extremely comfortable! We shall look forward to visiting again!
- cindym57 (10/5): Excellent Boutique Hotel - Excellent Boutique Hotel in a great location. The staff was great! Mario was our waiter at breakfast each morning and he educated us on the culture, which we really appreciated. The breakfast was delicious!! Rooms and pool were really nice. Loved our stay here!
- Elizabeth Anne (10/5): - I have been to Mexico multiple times in different areas, and this was by far the best hotel I have stayed in. We loved the small number of very attentive staff, the incredible continental breakfast, the beautiful room and gorgeous grounds, and the small touches like little chocolates, turn down service, and pillows we wanted to take home. Parking our rental car was easy, walking to shops, Paseo Montejo, and amazing restaurants were a cinch even in the heat due to the wonderful location. The cherry on top? The staff makes a killer mojito you can enjoy poolside in the very quiet and soothing courtyard. We will be back.
- carlosf791 (6/5): Great hotel but broken toilet, will not return - This was a fantastic hotel for this area. we paid extra for the master suite and extra for the junior suite for my son and his wife.
Very good service. Especially Mario took care of us every day.
However, for the four nights we were the toilet never worked, and we had to walk down to steep staircase every night to the pool to use the pool outside bathroom despite repeated request to the front desk to Management and they never repaired the toilet. At check out I requested some type of discount for this inconvenience. I was told because we had been using toilet paper they could not accommodate us financially!
No one ever instructed us nor are there any signs in the bathroom, tell you not to put toilet in the toilet. Which I think is incorrect for a $500 hotel you can’t put toilet paper in the toilet!
I will never return to this hotel again.
- Cindy (7/5): Charming and well located boutique hotel but be careful of extra charges. - It is a beautiful property and the patio areas are very charming. Especially the breakfast area and hammocks.
There is a small pretty dipping pool.
The rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated.
The location is excellent on a very pretty street with top restaurants close by. Changing pricing on us.
We had prepaid the stay and agreed prior by email to the price of additional massages and breakfasts but they kept changing the breakfast price: whether it was included or not, if only continental, if eggs cost more, etc. Everyday someone different would say it was charged differently or they needed to add something.
But worse at the end of they stay they wanted to charge additional for the massages although we had paid for them upon arrival in full and given the masseuses good tips.
Unfortunately we left a charming place on a bit of a negative note as we refused more up charges.
- Tim (10/5): Wonderful - All excellent Nothing
- Maps19925519412 (10/5): Beautiful oasis on Mérida's most polished street. - Quiet, tastefully decorated, 5-star boutique hotel with excellent breakfast and service. Small and personal. Turndown service. The hotel is located in Barrio de Santa Ana on 47th street, which is so spruced up that it resembles a movie set.
- Milan (10/5): - Nice stay, would recommend it
- Bryce (8/5): - Such a beautiful hotel in a wonderful setting however the pool was unusable due to pods falling from the tree above! They littered the area and fell all day long which was annoying. Without that issue I would give it 5 stars!
- Ernesto (10/5): Just Great - Just great
- julietta1960 (10/5): Darling boutique hotel - Beautiful and quaint. Very clean with beds that were so comfortable. The staff are a 10+ Walking distance to many shops and restaurants.
Has a very romantic setting nestled in trees.
The bathrooms are spacious enough for a couple to share with cool counter space for women.
- Juan (10/5): Perfect boutique hotel in the best location in Merida - Perfect location, friendly staff, beautiful house. Some rooms are not very private
- RusinChris (10/5): A six star hotel, a must stay! - Oh my goodness, this hotel is AWESOME. If I could give it 6 stars, I would. In all my travels in Mexico, I've only found one other hotel I'd rate so highly. This place is awesome in all aspects. Service is stellar, simply amazing. The property is beautiful and restful, indeed, simply hanging out at the hotel on a hot day is a brilliant idea here. The location is perfect, right near the Paseo Mantejo and an easy walk to the city center. The room was large and comfortable. Try the tamarind margaritas by the pool. This place is excellent, and when I return to Merida, there is no question where I will stay. Well done! Especially attentive were Morgan and Rocio, but the whole team was great. Thank you!
- RogerAlanBarb (10/5): A beautiful romantic getaway - This is a beautifully converted town house close to the center of town in an immaculate street well served with great restaurants. The hotel itself is an elegantly and tastefully decorated boutique with outstanding quality and friendliness of service. Highly recommended as a romantic destination.
And special thanks for Mario and Eduardo for looking after us so well!
- Rebecca (10/5): Casa Lecanda was a "find". Fantastic location near several excellent restaurants. Beautiful! - Very good breakfast in a lovely garden setting. Attentive staff made sure we had the individual breakfast we wanted. A tiny complaint. There are several steps, including into your shower, that are not marked well and we all tripped a few times. A little color band or something to denote the step would have helped.
- Luis (10/5): Wonderful stay at this lovely boutique hotel. - Beautiful boutique hotel. Centrally located; walking distance to restaurants, shops and attractions.
Breakfast was delicious, well served. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff; personalized service. Attention to detail at its best.
Would love to return if the opportunity arises.
- Jennifer (10/5): Total bliss - The Hotel exceeded our expectations. It is truly a beautiful space to stay and relax. The staff were extremely helpful. Morgane and Mario especially ensured our stay was memorable. We highly recommend staying here. Safe , sensational location and such lovely staff. Thanks for having us 😊 Nothing
- Bernard (10/5): Casa Lecanda is an absolute top choice in Merida, maybe even in Mexico. - Staying at this hotel feels like stepping in a privileged environment, with a great courtyard and very nice rooms. The staff is very competent and helpful, friendly and engaging with guests. Breakfast was outstanding; great choice of food and top fruit offering. Would not mind staying there for a few more days. The street outside was broken up, with a lot of working activity throughout the day and late in the night to fix things. This will be to the benefit of future guests, as it will be a nice improvement of the area. Would be good to make it traffic free.
- Warren (10/5): Amazing stay at Casa Lecanda, the staff is exceptionally kind and helpful, we’ll definitely come back when in Mérida - amazing staff
- Edoardo (9/5): Superb -
- David (9/5): Superb -
- Julia (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing facilities
- Rosa (10/5): - Beautiful property, wonderful service
- Daniela (10/5): Exceptional -
- Fintan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dennis (10/5): - Beautiful property in a good location in walking distance of Passeo Montejo and zocalo. Good restaurants in the area. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We were sad to leave. Thanks Eduardo, Marcellino and Mario for making our stay so pleasant!
- Karen-ann (9/5): beautiful inside the small lovelybappointed hotel- loud construction outside right now - beautiful secret hideaway behind closed doors with lovely small pool and gardening unfortunately when we arrived you could not get to the road. it was completely ripped up with loud backhoe construction going on. not the hotel’s fault but they should’ve alerted guests attempting to arrive
- Anne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Moira (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alexander (10/5): Excellent - would book again without hesitation. - This is one of the most beautiful places that I have stayed in and the customer service was excellent. Will definitely be recommending to family and friends.
- Patrick (10/5): Perfect location, amazing accommodations and the customer experience tops it all!! - Exactly as described and more. Nothing
- Nicola (9/5): everything about the hotel is perfect - highly recommend - elegant, peaceful, historic everything was perfect

- Nadia (9/5): Superb -
- Federico (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jaime (10/5): We are going to miss Mario taking care of us every morning having fruit and coffee - Location is perfect to walk around historic down town area. Everyone who work at this hotel took very good care of us and make our stay fabulous. Can’t wait to visit CASA LECANDA. Again. N/A. Every this is perfect!
- Brent (10/5): great place. would stay again without hesitation - breakfast was simple but fine. very convenient location for center of city sites and restaurants. staff were very friendly and helpful. extremely quiet and relaxing atmosphere. lovely, lovely place.
- Katherine (10/5): Flawless and utterly faultless. Sensational stay. - Absolutely everything - this hotel is utterly flawless. from the moment we checked in we were thrilled - car park next door, tamarind margarita on arrival - through to a simply extraordinary hotel that genuinely mesmerised us. Our room, the patio room Toño, was glorious so I can only imagine the others are too. Pool was a wonderful addition and I haven’t even discussed service - brilliant, attentive and incredibly discreet. Friends of ours stayed here and advised it was the highlight of Merida - we have to agree. Key details - spotless, effective AC, lots of space - stunning. Absolutely nothing - as close to perfection as you’ll get.

Great location and staff too!

- Erin (10/5): Amazing Stay! - Hotel is gorgeous, in a great location next to some of the best restaurants, parking was one building down in a secure lot. Staff was incredibly helpful and kind. We had a really lovely and relaxing visit. Can’t wait to go back!
- Patty (10/5): - First the boutique hotel is just that, small, beautiful, just the right rooms to feel like you own this great place. Prior arrival they contacted me numerous times to ensure they were excited of my arrival. They arrangements they made for transportation from Merida to Cancun to catch my flight was half the cost because they have a private car. One evening I didn't feel like going out for dinner, they called their favorite pizza place and not only had it delivered, but brought me a plate, silverware, salt, pepper, just like room service. They offer breakfast only, but the selections are grand and the preparations were of a 5 star restaurant. They have a mini fridge, full of selections but if course with additional charges. Same for coffee maker, first round free but afterwards a minimal charge. The staff from front of house to back if house made the hotel unique. They were there but never imposing on your space. During covid-19 the guidelines were not only followed but above expectations. I don't believe I would stay anywhere else when I vacation in Merida.
