- stevehN2201YY (10/5): A rare gem - exceeded expectations - My wife and I spent a couple of nights at the Kilauea Lodge in May, 2026 after several nights in Kona at a large resort. The contrast between the two was interesting. While the large resort was nice, it felt impersonal with employees going through the motions. Kilauea Lodge had a different vibe. The employees seemed like they wanted to be there and enjoyed their jobs. There were many reminders of past employees throughout the Lodge that I felt reinforced this feeling. Benches on the nature trail were in memory of past employees. The blending of the original camp (YMCA) with a modern day lodge were very well done. Breakfasts were included in our stay, but since we were there for their Mother's Day Brunch, they made sure we had reservations to ensure we didn't have to wait. The rooms and grounds are immaculate. Everything worked in the room and appeared to have been recently updated. The restaurant service and food were good. Overall, our stay here was the highlight of our time in the big island.

- Qing (10/5): Love this hotel! Highly recommend - I really liked this boutique hotel. the location is super convenient, only about an 8-minute drive to Volcano National Park. We actually got really lucky… the day we arrived, the volcano erupted (#46)! We had no idea, and the hotel staff told us right away, so we rushed over to the park and got to see it. If they hadn’t told us, we would’ve totally missed it, so really thankful for that. beautiful surroundings - you can actually do a hiking at the back of the hotel The room itself was a good size, very clean, and nicely decorated. Big windows so lots of natural light, which I liked. In the morning you can hear birds singing, which was really peaceful. The hotel restaurant is quite cozy, with a fireplace always on. We had dinner there twice, food was good overall, really liked the risotto! The hotel is also part of Volcano Village, with some small art studios and galleries around. We drove around on our last day there and it was definitely worth it. Also, I recommend Ono Cafe, it has a really nice gift shop. We didn’t eat there, but we met the owner, Mr. Ono, and bought some lovely things. Maybe the only downside was that there is no elevator (which we understand for such cottages). We’re two girls traveling with kinda of big suitcases, our room was at 2nd floor, so carrying them up and down-stairs was a bit of a struggle. Not a huge deal, but something to be aware of.

- 917BrianP (10/5): Great stay for VNP visit. - Great stay at the Lodge! Super close to VNP. Excellent dinner and appreciated the live view of the volcano. We even made a late night trip back to VNP because we saw the red glow was visible at dinner. Large umbrellas at the rooms helped with the heavy rains. The fireplace in the room was great for warming up and drying our hiking clothes. Staff was very helpful!

We had dinner in the restaurant and the food was the best we've found in a week on the Big Island. The staff was generally friendly and helpful. It's a wonderful place to stay, but it's not cheap.

Everyone was so pleasant during our stay and we loved the restaurant as well. The room was very comfortable & homey, what you would expect at a nice lodge by a national park. We stayed in a separate building from the main lodge with four units. We highly recommend the Kilauea Lodge.

- ddglick (10/5): Wonderful lodge near entrance to Volcano Nat'l Park - This is a wonderful lodge very close to Volcano Nat'l Park entrance. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Staff very friendly and attentive. Breakfast provided was adequate (could have used a bit more fruit). We had one dinner at the Lodge, and it was wonderful.
- dimitrys2016 (6/5): Bad night sleep quality - Room #2 does not have proper curtains or drapes on the windows. The blinds cover only 2/3 of the windows. This is unacceptable for a lodge that charges $300+ per night. As a result, i did not have a good night sleep. The staff is very friendly though and food in the restaurant is very good. I cant recommend this lodge until proper blackout curtains/drapes/blinds are installed.

- Companion44959779492 (10/5): Charming environment, Wonderful service - We would highly recommend this very charming lodge with fantastoc service to anyone travaeling to the Volcano. ,Volcano House is good fot he exceptionla view on the Volcano but it clearly stops there. Rooms are absolutely not soundproof and service is very average. We were delighted to have booked a second night at this lodge were we were greeted very warly, all staff were incredibly helpful , the environment and our room were beautiful and charming and the hot bath outside after the trak around the Voclano was magic.

- Rwagemann (10/5): Lovely, quiet, and special. - Kīlauea Lodge is a beautiful and historic facility. It was clean quiet and the room was beautiful. The fireplace was a special bonus. The food, while pricey and with limited choices, was absolutely excellent. The staff was wonderful and enhanced the experience. The lodge is conveniently located close to Volcanoes National Park, with the added perk of being located in the less trafficked little village of Volcano. The grounds of the lodge are also quite beautiful.

Service was good. Had the fresh catch and the garlic shrimp pasta. Would recommend but a little on the price your side.

We’ve stayed in other units here that had climate controls &!we’re more comfortable. There is no complimentary breakfast on Sunday. Restaurant food gets a C & expensive.

- 17aubreym (10/5): Come For The Volcano! Stay For The Lodge! - Excellent! Native 'apapane greeted us just off our lanai each and every morning. The wood-burning fireplace was cozy. The staff delivered hugs and smiles. And, of course, being nestled amidst a range of eclectic artist studios cannot be beat. (The location also allowed us to rush from our room to catch the very beginning of Kilauea's episode 38 before a crowd gathered at the National Park entrance and viewing spot. The fountaining was indescribable!) Kilauea Lodge, for us, is an annual tradition with no competitors when it comes to location, comfort, staff, and amenities. You absolutely cannot go wrong!

- Mark (7/5): Although we enjoyed our stay at the lodge it was expensive and our room was above the laundry which caused some noise. - Very good location close to the park and a nice one-half mile trail behind the lodge. We paid nearly $300 per night and the restaurant was expensive. However the breakfast was included in the price and it was very nice.
- sjthpdx (10/5): Lucky to have gotten a room here! - Kilauea Lodge is a charming, old school small hotel that is clean, comfortable and private. An incredible location for visiting Volcano National Park. The restaurant serves upscale food in a cozy atmosphere. Do NOT expect shiny and new--this place is perfect in its environment. Subtle upgrades, from coffee pot to charging stations mean you have everything you need. Extra points to Emma, for making us feel welcome from the initial walk in the door.

The restaurant serves a wonderful breakfast. Great place to stay, but a little isolated in terms of finding a place to eat or shop.
- terryw71 (10/5): A perfect lodge on the door step of Kilauea. - We have stayed at the Kilauea Lodge several times -- and every time this boutique has been great. The lodge is small (10 rooms I believe), and the rooms are all different. The hotel is comfortable, quiet, and on the door step of the national park. The staff are friendly and helpful, and it feels idyllic.

The hotel restaurant was closed the next day for private party so we were not able to eat before we left (went to national park early morning) would be nice if the staff could inform us about that earlier.

- KOHEI (10/5): 素晴らしい宿でした - ハワイ火山国立公園から非常に近く キラウエア火山を観光するには非常に良いロケーションです。 周囲に飲食店が少ないことは難点ですが、併設のレストランが美味しいので2-3日程度の滞在であれば問題ありません。 部屋は暖炉もあり、ボルケーノの気温は非常に低いものの暖かく過ごすことができます。 施設がやや古いですが、快適に過ごすことができたので特に不満はありません。

- Charmaine (10/5): - A not so hidden gem with a rustic plantation ambiance. Lush surroundings, great parking, friendly staff, convenient to Volcano National Park. The 1/2 mile loop trail behind the property was a fun morning picker-upper to get the day started. It’s a little quirky that the guest check-in is in the gift shop, very laid back but service is wonderful. The restaurant is top notch and the portions are reasonable for the price. No tv in room which we did miss after a hard hike at Volcano, but not a deal breaker. in room gas stove was a cozy plus. The only thing we wish was different is the shower. The bathroom was plenty big but the single stand in shower was tight. Did appreciate the towel warmer . The night air was filled with coqui whistlings but we got used to it. Highly recommend and would stay again.

- 783hayleyj (10/5): Sweet & Peaceful stay - We had a short stay at Kilauea Lodge and Restaurant but I honestly wish we'd had more time here! The location is beautiful and tranquil and the restaurant was excellent - two of the best meals we had on the Big Island. It's extremely convenient to Volcanos park and I appreciate the homey vibe, it feels like an elevated, private sleepaway camp for adults...with fine dining! There is also a cute little shop with souvenirs and a nature walk right on the property. The staff were warm and very helpful. Would definitely stay here again on my next trip.

- BahiaRugby (10/5): Great stop by the volcanoes national park - Went there for dinner after a very full day of walking at the volcano. Needed gas and food before tackling the road back to Kona. Lovely atmosphere, great service, great food, highly recommend as a stop by the volcanoes national park.
- NobuB (10/5): Best stay at Volcano - Such a special place to stay in Volcano! This place has such history and has a great Hawaiian traditional vibe. From the onset - they were able to hold our luggage (room wasn’t ready) so we could catch Pele in all her glory. When we got to our room after a visit to VNP, our luggage is in our room. We stayed in room number 10, Loki. It was a well appointed room, with a towel heater (love)!! Russ, the shower was a bit small and wonky to use. But outside of that, our day was amazing! It was so nice to come back to the lodge after a long day at VNP. They really made us feel special. Dinner was amazing and the historic fireplace embraced us with warmth. I highly recommend this special lodge to anyone who wants to experience old Hawaii. Also - don’t forget to walk through the garden path. Amazing!!

Wenig Möglichkeiten die Kleider zu verstauen. Ein Toster im Gemeinschaftsraum, bei der Mikrowelle, wäre wünschenswert.

- Katja (10/5): Wonderful place to stay!!! - We stayed at the Lodge for 3 nights and fall in love immediately. The staff was very friendly, the room was absolutely cute and perfectly cleaned and the dinner at the Lodge was excellent (you should try the Volcanoes wine made in the area!). Drinking water and parking were for free. The location was great, since we were there for hiking in the Volcanoes National Park, which is only 5-10 mins drive away. You can use the fire place in the common area for free and enjoy a relaxing evening. There is no TV in the room, which we loved. Time to talk and read a book. A rain forest nature trail belongs to the Lodge's area as well. Nothing to complain about!

- maggieloo (9/5): 住的很舒服，离火山公园很近很方便。如果是一大家子住就最好了，包整栋房，大概4间屋吧，不会被其他住客打扰 - 因为想追火山喷发所以特意订了火山公园门口的小镇，小镇上很多民宿，但是最终还是订了这家小旅馆。交通很方便，开车五分钟就进火山公园了，并且这是一个经营多年的旅馆，有几栋别墅组成，每栋楼上楼下的房间分别出租，所以一层是公共的living room，每间房单独密码进去，会感觉不像民宿那种孤零零的在野外有些不安全。并且这里的工作人员很友好，我们到达的时候前台餐厅都在装修，工作人员就把早餐送到了我们的living room，大家早上自取早餐，面包培根咖啡果汁等等，简单不过在夏威夷大部分也就这样的了。最让我们惊喜的是旅馆后院有个徒步步道，里面还有纪念他们员工的木椅，看得出他们是一群有爱心且热爱这里的人们。 因为共用living room，难以避免有些旅客会彼此习惯不同，我们住的那一晚因为在火山公园吃完晚饭才回来，大概晚上9点多，发现living room的大灯被一层的一个住户关了，可能人家要睡觉了，所以我们只好用手机手电开着在living room倒水，无法说别人什么，只能说还是要定单独的住宿空间才不会彼此打扰吧。另外就是因为在村里，附近吃饭不方便，如果要来住一定先解决了晚饭，我们就是开车了半天发现镇上就3、4家餐厅，有两家还周三周四不开门，只好返回火山公园里面吃
