Victorian decor, perfect location, 5 min walk to cemetery where Wild Bill Hickock and Calamity Jane are resting, breakfast was AMAZING...made from scratch including bread and jam! 10 min walk into town! And the bedsheets...i don't know what they did with them... they smelled Fantastic. Hope to come back soon!

- Dorothy (10/5): The best experience and we already rebooked for August 2026! - I usually don't do reviews, but 1899 Inn deserves a shout-out! Great experience from booking to checking out. Aaron & Jae were the sweetest and added a very personal touch—beautiful scenery, a quiet neighborhood, and it was so relaxing. Just took a few minutes to walk downtown. We never had to drive once we got there. The cottage was lovely, with comfortable beds, including the futon! Wonderful homemade breakfast, including homemade grape jelly from their grapes grown in their front yard. Also features a full kitchen for those who prefer to cook. We already booked our return for August 2026!

This historic house with its period style decor was quite a place. Lovely home cooked breakfast served in the dining room in the morning. The stairs were very creaky ( to be expected given the age of the house) but not a problem we were just conscious we didn't want to disturb other guests.

Maybe offering a package of ear plugs for guests would solve that issue.

I booked months ago and chose a particular room. When we arrived, we were given a different room with no explanation until I questioned the room ; only to be told they had double booked and given the room I chose to someone else. Not a great start. They did offer us a different room for 1 night but having to change rooms half way through our stay wasn't ideal. We travel a lot and have stayed at a lot of inns in the US. We have never come across such unwelcoming hosts before. We were given no information on the area , no recommendations on restaurants/ things to do at all. The only thing they told us was don't park in the street! The breakfast was truly awful, we couldn't eat any of it . It was 1 thing , just plonked down with no introduction so take it or leave it and they didn't ask us if we had any dietary requirements either. The location in Deadwood is great but the inn itself is very overpriced and underwhelming.

- Jackson (8/5): A lovely home close to the action in Deadwood. - The house is lovely. It is beautifully maintained. Owners could better provide the small things that make a b and b comfortable. For example the coffee service wasn’t stocked even after mentioning it on our first day. Our bathroom had a glass door. While it was pretty it didn’t provide much privacy.

She was an exceptional host. If we ever make it back to Deadwood, the 1899 Inn will be the only place we'll stay. Nothing.

- Holly (8/5): Very good - Nyla is a wonderful host. The home is gorgeous and cozy feeling. Breakfast and coffee was amazing. You can really tell Nyla puts her heart into this place. Homemade bread and jam, local coffee, the softest sheets and washcloths, beautiful furniture and accents. It was a wonderful stay. A little more heat to the upstairs overnight would have been appreciated. I know it was freezing outside and house is old so we understand.

Although we were late due to a work call, she graciously accommodated our late check-in request and even upgraded us to another empty room with better amenities. Her delicious breakfasts and the Inn's Victorian-style charm made our stay truly exceptional. Inn's proximity to downtown also made it a convenient and enjoyable short walk to explore the Deadwood area. We were not only impressed by the house and its history but also by Nyla's exceptional hospitality. Highly recommended for a delightful and accommodating experience! NA
