Guest Reviews
- Justin (5/5): Meh, truck stop motel - Clean sheets, towels although that is bare minimum and expected Front desk not friendly, pool isnt open and probably wont be for a while considering it's condition, phone number not in service (goes to full VM), and left item and no contact back from Motel.

- Deborah (7/5): - Location was great for us to visit family Need to update bedding
- Jane (8/5): -
- Tina (7/5): Decent for a night or two. Room could use a refresh and better bedding. Kitchenette didn’t have utensils - Centrally located, but what isn’t in Barriere. Was clean and warm (late December stay). Room could use a refresh. Lots of scuff marks on the walls. Laminate flooring lifting in places. Kitchenette didn’t have any utensils. Would have preferred a proper comforter instead of the flimsy 1970s blanket.

- crh (7/5): - Motel simple, avec les équipements de base - réfrigérateur et machine à café ; quelques restaurants et pubs à proximité. Pratique et bon rapport qualité-prix pour une étape vers Wells Gray et les parcs des Rocheuses. Climatisation assez bruyante.
- Russ (8/5): - This was an overnight stay while travelling. The staff was great, the room was clean and the water hot. The reality is this is an older property and works as is, but could use a refresh. Interesting feature that we did not use was a dog wash. First time I have seen that.
- Alfred (9/5): -
- Rhonda (10/5): - Property was clean and quiet, worked well for our one night stay. Would book again
- Chris (10/5): - Great place for a night or two stay.
- G (8/5): - Simple and quiet motel.
- Donna (10/5): - Very friendly staff our favorite motel when passing through 😊😊😊
- William (10/5): - Cleanliness of the units and the pleasantness of the recewption.
- James (6/5): - I left a list for the office manager for things to address. Although the room was clean, certain things needed to be addressed. I had to kill and spider and an ant upon initial arrival (before my wife saw them!). The ceiling and exhaust fan in the bathroom were covered in spider webs and lint. The leg on the table was broken/loose and thankfully didn't create an accident for us. The TV stand took up a big portion of the room and hanging the TV would eliminate that problem. The mini fridge freezer was completely frozen over. There were no lights turned on outside of the room, so we needed to keep the headlights on the discover the room number and unload our luggage. There was a piece of flooring in the middle of the room that popped up and should be addressed before someone not wearing shoes would injury themselfOn a positive note, the motel was right next to and across the street from two good restaurants. Nothing fancy, but the food and service were good and fast. The beds and pillows were adequate for what we needed as a halfway point between Whistler and Jasper.

- Myers (9/5): Myers - Friendly staff. Processed my booking expeditiously. Remembered me from the last time I visited. Nice room with kitchenette. Comfortable and quiet. 😀 Can't think of anything negative to share. 😀
- Don (5/5): Ok but not great - Doors to your room have key codes. You have to type a seven digit code in which is fine if it’s daylight but when it’s dark out, there’s no light to see. Took seven tries to get my room open not a very good system unless they’re gonna put a light outside the door that’s on at night.
- Tammy (8/5): -
- Debbie (10/5): Hidden Gem - What a gem. Very nice and the owners are wonderful.
- Tracey (2/5): - would not stay at monte carlo again, stayed two nights second day they didn't even make up our room, I had to go to front desk and ask for fresh towels, asked about internet front desk argued with me saying internet worked when it didn't, not clean
- Sai (7/5): -
- Rachelle (10/5): - Perfect roadside motel. Clean and great bang for your buck! Will be back again!
- Linda (9/5): - This is a great little motel. Close to food and the town is charming.
- Terry (5/5): - Location As someone with a disability Ron’s we’re a challenge to get into as had big steps to enter room
- Loewen (8/5): - The Monte Carlo was a good overnight stop on the way Vancouver. The room was clean and cool, it was 38 degrees Celsius when we arrived but the room was prepared with air conditioning and cool. The only thing that was not great was the soft bed. That is just a personal preference, though. Overall it was good.
- Dimuth (8/5): Very good -
- Dimuth (8/5): Very good -
- Kelvin (10/5): Exceptional - Best Motel we have been in for the last 10 days on the road .
- Susanne (8/5): - This is an older motel that has had some upgrades. The pool is nice but doesn't open until 4 and isn't open in the morning. The in room fridge doesn't have a freezer section - but the owner was willing to put my ice packs in their big freezer.
- William (8/5): - Convenient for visiting friends in town. It was quiet.
- Phil (6/5): - about what I expected from a $125 hotel.
- Munira (2/5): Very poor -
- Deborah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Matthew (6/5): - Dont have "Heated Pool" right on your sign and have the pool not heated.
- Marchuk (10/5): Exceptional -
- Heather (7/5): Perfect location and clean rooms - Perfect location, and nice clean rooms. Staff were friendly and helpful. Booking, checking in and payments were all easy. The sheets were so soft. Was the perfect room for 1 adult and 3 teens for the night. Fast free WIFI was excellent. The beds were very noisy, everytime you moved it made loud noises and they were not very comfortable. We didn't have a compendium and couldn't figure out how to use the air-conditioning and when it was on it was very loud and clicked on and off constantly.
- Sharon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cathy (9/5): Superb - Very clean rooms.. Nice pool.
Our coffee pot was not working. They got us a new one asap..friendly people
- Aileen (7/5): Good -
- Mo (8/5): Friendly staff, accomodating, standard amenities, some are outdated but everything is great -
- David (8/5): Very good - Room was clean, came exactly as advertised.
- Judy (8/5): - A place to stop on a long road trip
- Colleen (4/5): - Was booked in for a week, received no housekeeping at all during this time. One day out of 7 had a do not disturb on the door for 1 hour while baby slept. Had to remove my garbage to outdoor bins as no one came to collect it. Had to go to office to ask for new towels. No working tv for whole stay as wifi converter was melted.
- Claire (7/5): Good -
- Laura (8/5): Best Motel in Barriere - The heating was great, super comfy bed, big bathroom, good shower pressure. The room layout, only lukewarm water from sink.
- Kristy (9/5): Superb -
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amanda (10/5): Exceptional - Love the people and their pup super kind ❤️
- Kohnert (8/5): It was comfortable and friendly plus good value and convenient. - It’s easy, familiar, bed and pillows comfortable. Quiet. No horrible laundry smells (chemical). Sheets had weird stains and too many bright led/electronics lights.
- Dean (10/5): - It has an outdoor pool. Nice to know for summer time travel.
- Myers (9/5): Superb - The room was comfortable and quiet. All good. Nothing negative to share
- Daryl (6/5): Pleasant -
- Deborah (10/5): - owners/managers lovely people, our room nice and comfy, king size bed perfect, nice sitting area. would recommend. Stayed one night at Christmas, so very quiet.
- Nori (4/5): Disappointing - Old rooms, mold in bathroom, large gap between door and frame so cold breeze gets in and our room was missing door safety latch. rooms are not soundproof at all & very loud next to highway
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This property met our needs for a short stay, but is in desperate need of updating and deep cleaning.
- Anita (6/5): - The room was 10 degrees when we arrived. We told the manager, he said hurn the heat up. I have a reservation. Do you think my room should be warm on arrival. We went for dinner so room could warm.up. still was extremely cold.
We will not return.
Room is dirty.
Old place.
- Elisebeth (9/5): Great place for weary travellers - The room was warm, clean and comfortable. It has a pretty outdoor pool and very nice grounds, but of course we didn't use them in November. It's ideally located as a stopping place between Edmonton and Vancouver. There are restaurants nearby.
- Carla (8/5): Very good -
- Vince (2/5): Air conditioner room in December? - Location off highway was quiet Billed at noon yet booking confirmed pay at time of checkin at 5 pm.
Room temperature was 10C 50F in December.
Asked owner why was room temperature not turned up earlier. He motioned, to turn up thermostat.we did. I asked why did not he do it when he billed us. GLAZED look. We left for our warn car and drive around for 3 hours.
Clean room, bed hard and old, pillows ok. Towels clean and newer.
- Randolph (8/5): Very good -
- Amanda (10/5): - Great place, clean and friendly staff
- Henry (8/5): Very good -
- Marianne (7/5): Was happy with the actual stay - Email confirmation said I could pay at the motel. Yet when I got there, they had already charged my credit card
- Bri294 (8/5): Very good - Clean simple rooms, walking distance to fast food Parking bit tight for truck
- Richard (7/5): Good -
- Gail (7/5): Okay for the night - There was a washer and dryer on-site, which cost $2.00 for the washer and $2.00 for the dryer. We had to buy some detergent. The room had a private entrance. The beds were comfy. The motel is close to a good local restaurant. The shower rod was loose and not set right as the curtain hung lower than it should have. The shower curtain could use replacing. The bathroom mirror wasn't clean. The surfaces were dusty. The remote control to the television quit working, and the backing to the batteries was taped up. One of two beds would creak when I got in and out of it.
- Deborah (10/5): Exceptional - was very convenient for our visit to Barriere. a spare blanket
- Tanya (7/5): Nice motel, but needs some TLC to keep it up - Barriere is a great stopping off point on the trip home from Vancouver Island back to Alberta. This motel is easy to find, people are friendly, and the staff are responsive Unfortunately, the floor in our room hadn’t been cleaned in a while and the mattresses were very tired. We paid $10 extra to bring our dog (which I presume is for extra cleaning required after a dog stays in the unit), but obviously, that kind of cleaning is not being done. We also had an end unit and the traffic noise was quite amplified. We used the AC unit and some white noise to help drown that out. Nice little spot, but needs some TLC to keep it up better.
- Iris (10/5): Exceptional -
- James (8/5): Very good -
- Adelle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nancy (9/5): Great value - Very pleasant staff and comfortable room.
- Nancy (8/5): Very good - The people were great Pool was super cold
- Paul (9/5): Superb -
- Myers (9/5): Superb - Quiet, comfortable, heated pool, close to gas stations and convenience stores, and friendly staff. I liked everything.
- Angeed (7/5): one of our reliable stop over places not as good as it used to be - Cheap place for a stopover in beautiful landscape. Close to decent restaurants. We've stayed here in the past and found it more comfortable than it is now. The room was dirty and the finishing were extra-tired. The pool (the reason for choosing here for our stopover) was dirty and the sides were mushy. We also had to get two rooms for the 4 of us when they would have let us get one in the past, so essentially doubling the price.
- Cathy (6/5): Pleasant -
- Tara (6/5): Pleasant -
- Hon Lun (8/5): - Nice property next to the road with swimming pool.
- Mervyn (2/5): Not happy won't return - The sheets on the bed were clean. Large clean fridge. Staff were friendly. Air conditioning worked well. Check in was easy. Walking into the room it looked clean until we saw the walls in the bathroom which looked like they haven't been clean in quite some time. The side tables were very dusty and we had to dust them off. A chair was broken and we could not use it. The water took forever to get hot. There is no phone in the room so we had to use our cells to call long distance. They boast about a heated outdoor pool but it was freezing cold. The BBQ had so much build up it was disgusting and a fire hazard. The furniture outside has not been cleaned (only half a table which we cleaned so we could play cards). The furniture outside is so old and is falling apart and has bird poop on it. When I didn't want my room cleaned but needed clean towels I had to give them my dirty towels and the cleaning lady would replace but would not give us any extras ( this has never happened to us and we stay at motels all the time).
- David (6/5): Pleasant -
- Kelly (8/5): Very good -
- Richard (7/5): Good -
- Todd (1/5): I was very disappointed - The old owners I can’t it would be rude
- Janet (7/5): Good spot to stop for a night. Food and drink available next door until 8pm. Has a laundry to catch - Had laundry available. $2 to was $2 to dry. Food and drink available next door.
- Michael (7/5): Good -
- Sergio (7/5): Good -
- Carole (6/5): Okay for an overnight - No breakfast. Easy access off highway Room needs a good dusting and beds need updating. Very loud with the tree planters through no fault of the motel. Office kept trying to charge my card prior to our arrival even though none had been provided to them until arrival. I booked through Booking.com.
- Bobjoemac1 (9/5): Superb - Cheap hotel but still nice, easy to find and close to every place we wanted to go.
