Guest Reviews
- Grace (10/5): Wonderful! - We really loved our stay at Maison de Rose! The apartment was spotless and well equipped. Lots of lovely small touches such as fresh flowers which made the place very homely. Well located for visiting Bethells/Piha beach. Nothing
- Leanne (9/5): Peaceful haven in the hills - Space, views, peace and quiet. Comfortable beds, great shower, local information provided Not a thing
- Joanne (10/5): Fantastic quiet relaxing place to stay with an awesome host. Thank you Robert - The location was fantastic and within easy driving distance to a lot of beautiful local attractions Having to leave. Such a beautiful quiet relaxing accommodation with a fantastic host
- Georgina (9/5): After Maison de Rose we'd be silly to stay anywhere else. - We liked our host. Robert's welcome set us up for the perfect stay. The cold couch and lounge tables precariously perched.
- Georgina (9/5): Would not hesitate to come back again. - We liked the welcome from Robert which started our visit off on a perfect note. We liked the little touches eg., the chocolate on the bed. The couch was a little cold and the TV confusing.
- Laurel (10/5): - Spacious and comfortable apartment in a gorgeous setting up in the hills. Tastefully decorated in a “rose” theme. Large kitchen with every utensil and appliance you would need. Bed was quite comfortable with various pillow types to choose from. Host was lovely and provided great suggestions for things to see and do.

- Eric (10/5): - Everything was clean, and very convenient. Host was helpful and extremely pleasant.
- Beverley (10/5): Exceptional - Gorgeous peaceful setting with amazing view. Excellent accommodation and very welcoming host
- Lukasz (10/5): Exceptional -
- Linda (1/5): Terrible will never be there again - First of all it didn’t specify if it was a n Airbnb or motel. Very disappointed to find it was an Airbnb an old house with damp smell and you share the flat with an owner that wouldn’t leave you alone.
Adding to the disappointment it has no mobile phone reception at all and my work relies on phone.
For this two bedroom flat, 264.50 dollars were charged five days prior and we drove more than 600ks to pick up our daughter from uni and just to stay for the night so we can hit the road early the next day. He said to allow our daughter to stay extra $50 will be charged. I argued and agreed daughter won’t stay. He said he didn’t like my attitude and therefore five minutes into checking in police were called and we were trespassed and evicted or we would be arrested. We had no choice but to drive another 600ks to the comfort of our own home.
Very upsetting experience and I would never recommend this place. Stay as far as possible. I hate everything about this host and this house
- Rozita (9/5): Superb -
- Maureen (10/5): Magnifique - Stunning, huge apartment with wonderful views from the verandah. Nothing
- Katherine (10/5): Exceptional - Spacious area. Nice and clean
- Pamela (10/5): We had an excellent stay, our host Robert was more than helpful. The property is close to transport - The apartment was spacious, very presentable and offered all the usual amenities and more. There was milk in the fridge to start us off with, washing powder for the washing machine, a selection of fruit. We couldn't have asked for more. We couldn't fault the Host or the apartment.
- Dominique (8/5): Perfect catch up with daughters in a wonderful spot - Great spot in the Waitakere It was to far away for us to get to, beautiful surroundings
- Jonathan (10/5): Getaway for couples - Friendly service, clean and neat ,spacious and fabulous view.
- Justin (10/5): - Was great, host Robert was very nice, thank you
- Philippa (10/5): - Huge living area and excellent kitchen facilities.
- Jax (10/5): - Spacious, comfortable and ideal for little families. Home away from home.
- Mariette (8/5): Really enjoyed the tranquil bush with native birds with great scenic vews to to the city - Great location and views. Lovely spacious apartments
- Juliana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Desiree (8/5): Too nosey! - I called to let Robert know that we would possibly be arriving late and if he could please leave the key under a mat (we had been touring the North Island for a week and every place we stayed at did this) He was put out that we were arriving late his tone was rude and he wouldn’t leave the key - according to Hotels.com the check in time for this property was until 9pm but he said we had to be there by 7pm and that he would have to wait up for us - he implied it was an inconvenience for him to wait up and wasn’t safe to leave the key under the mat. We got there at 7pm and we felt he was very nosey - wanted to know how we got there so quickly we must have been speeding, where the other person in our group of 2 couples was (she was sitting in the car) just in our business and it felt uncomfortable.
- Lusi (10/5): Exceptional - The scenery. The far distances to the shops.
- Glenys (9/5): Superb - View and host was amazing.
Lots of utensils for cooking If I'm nit picking ... The bathroom door squeaks which can be annoying when hubby gets up several times a night
- Sabine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lanne (8/5): Very good -
- William (9/5): Superb - Robert the host was very friendly. Very spacious. Could benefit from a slight refurb
- Linden (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yin (9/5): Homeowner very nice and give me some good suggestions for site seeing around there. - Like home and so comfortable 🥰 Nothing
- Grahame (9/5): Host was welcoming with good local advice. - Quiet location with fabulous view. Nothing we didn’t like.
- Donna (6/5): w in a residential suburb - Location was well suited to an event we attended at Starling Te Poi Park
Unit had a washing machine and dryer which was helped as we’d been travelling for a couple of days prior I hadn’t noted the detail about informing the host about our arrival time This was an issue for the host and the first thing raised with me That was an interesting first impression.
The unit had a heat pump but also had sliding doors out to a patio with great views. It would have been great to leave the doors open with security insect screens.
It’s very important to understand that this is a downstairs unit at the host’s home so absolute privacy is not possible.
- Reanne (9/5): Wonderful stay with a wonderful host. Incredible view. - Stunning view!
Clean and comfortable room.
Great host.
Great location for Tui Hills wedding venue. Nothing.
- Lisa (10/5): Such a well equipped and quiet area to stay - The unit has everything you need. Private backyard patio space over looking green valley below, FULLY equipped kitchen including an air fryer, large living and dining space, laundry with washing machine and dryer, large Queen size bed in each bedroom. parking space is a bit tight. But I managed to reverse out with my Toyota RAV 4.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Very good - N/a Missed the property at first as signage and number was hard to see.
- Roesroes (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kevin (10/5): fantastic. - Great outlook & setting.Host Robert was great.Could not have been more helpful.
Lovely & quite place to stay. Could not fault this venue.
- Inwood (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (10/5): Great - Spacious and a lovely setting
- Maree (9/5): Superb -
- Maree (9/5): Great location for quiet comfortable stay. - Great location, quiet but close to city. Clean and comfortable. Lovely decor. Needs a privacy screen on glass bedroom door.
- Kohi (10/5): - It was very comfortable, warm, clean, affordable, and a very pleasant owner
- Sue (10/5): - Views were amazing. Will definitely be back.
- Alexx (6/5): - When arriving at the property the owner immediately came out with a set of rules, hardly one foot in the door. Very intrusive.
- Rick (10/5): - A wonderful prime 2-bedroom well-furnished, clean, secure, roomy and comfortable apartment with great amenities. Great value. Away from the crowd. Private.
The on-site owner/caretaker Robert excelled in providing for our needs and privacy.
Located away from Auckland city and its congestion, but with easy free-way access. As a first time "left side of road" driver from S. California, I was more comfortable getting around in our rental car during our outings. Plenty of food resources within short km/mi.
Thank you, Robert! Your guests from CA, Rick and sons.
- Noel (10/5): - Nice quiet spot.
Cheers Robert
- Celine (10/5): A real pleasure to be there - Awesome view, outstanding host … would be good to have a little bit of oil, salt and pepper
- Linda (7/5): Unfortunate due to impact of inclement weather prior to our arrival - We arrived after a major cyclone and major rainfall had struck the Auckland area. The property had been affected by the weather and was not totally at the level we had hoped for (some musty smell and could have been cleaner).
As well the location had been selected for proximity to Piha Beach. Piha Beach was also affected by the weather and unfortunately was not open to the public during our visit. At every other locations (12) our credit cards were accepted without any problems. At this location no cards (3 were tried) were not accepted.
The bedroom off the living area was not private as glass French doors did not have curtains.
- Topkiwi (10/5): excellent - everything
- Karen (8/5): - We were pleasantly surprised with this accommodation. We needed a place for one night and I could've stayed more. The bed was comfortable and it had everything there for a home away from home.
The pull out bed isn't the most comfortable bed but those things never are. Would stay there again.
- Fiona (4/5): I wouldn't recommend this place if you want privacy,if you wanna be close to a township - The view I didn't like that we couldn't even smoke outside we had to go right down the the driveway on the road, didn't like how we were asked to have 4 minute showers and didn't like how and extra $12 got added to the cost when I paid on arrival
- Nichola (9/5): Superb - The view was awesome! There a great outdoor space to enjoy it.
The bed was super comfy.... one of the two room came with that view! I liked all of it. Our host gave us advanced notice there were no shops close by. So make sure you bring your essentials. There is a (big) kitchen for all your needs.
- Asialee (8/5): very relaxing lil getaway. would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet getaway - the view was amazing, everything we needed essentially was there I understood no smoking on the property and although vaping is considered the same but it definitely smells better
- Thomas (10/5): Amazing! - comfortable and beautiful
- T (8/5): Hope you made it through the cyclone okay! -
- Mary (10/5): Beautiful house in a stunning area - Beautiful accomodation. Very comfortable and friendly and helpful host.
- KENNETH (10/5): - Robert was wonderful! We were there during the monster rains and he took such good care of us!
- Hannah (8/5): a lovely short stay all the facilities we needed and beautiful views - beautiful views and scenic outlook, quiet location In the hills. great pressure in the shower!
- Corinne (10/5): Great stay - Nice host and beautiful apartment with everything you need

- Jennifer (8/5): Very good -
- אניספלד (9/5): Superb -
- Diana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bernice (8/5): Stunning views and comfy bed. - Super view from the terrace. Well equipped kitchen. Surprised there was no dishwasher and the B.C advertised BBQ did not exist.
- Georgina (10/5): Wedding accommodation - Beautiful scenery and waking to bird chorus
- Steven (10/5): - Great location and it was very clean and tidy with a spacious kitchen and lounge with great sized bedrooms and an awesome view over the bush. Great friendly host the was very helpful.
- Celecia (10/5): Great accommodation!! - The two bedroom apartment we stayed in was absolutely beautiful. My children and I loved the space, layout and decor of the apartment and amazing views it offered. It had everything we needed and the beds were so comfortable. The host was most welcoming, friendly with a great vibe and personality who provided useful information and great suggestions of food places and activities. There are so many stunning beaches and waterfalls and lakes to visit. Would definately love to visit again..... Most likely for more than one night. There is nothing I can think of that we didn't like except our timing. Next time I would visit when the pool is available just to top off an amazing stay.
- Pauline (10/5): You want tranquility, Peace ,privacy and Beauty this is the Place - Totally enjoyed my stay was amazing , hospitality was on point so much warmth I felt from the host.
Definitely letting Family know ***** 5 Star
Thank you will def be staying there again There is absolutely nothing we could say.
- Michelle (9/5): Place was cozy , clean and comfortable.Robert was helpful and accommodating. -
- Robert (9/5): just a brief stay, fantastic location, comfy bed and peaceful, great to have free Netflix and a good kitchen - great location and nice and spacious
- Nikki (5/5): Very comfortable beautiful apartment, just a few loose ends re booking to be straightened out. - We didn't have the breakfast (didn;t know there was one on offer!) Comfortable and aesthetically pleasing decor. Beautiful view. Entrance to apartment was a bit difficult - slippery sloping tile on doorway, plus we were asked to remove shoes only there was not enough room at the entrance to comfortably do this. I rang the host to say that another family member would be joining us, I stupidly didn't ask what the configuration of beds would be, the host didn't discuss it and on arrival to the two bedroom apartment there was a double bed in each room. We were 3 middle aged female cousins, not wanting to share beds as one on a CPAP machine, the other a loud snorer. There was a fold down bed in one room but the host wasn't happy about moving it into the lounge, so I slept on the couch.
Also, we were relatives travelling from different places. One cousin arrived before us but was denied access to the apartment because she was not the original person who made the booking (even though I had spoken to the host prior about her joining us). She was told to go and wait in her car for the rest of the party to arrive (we were hours away!) Not sure if this is air bandb policy or what the rationale was but our cousin was not happy about this!
- Liana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kirstie (8/5): Very good - The setting was gorgeous. The lights need to be a little brighter.
- Melissa (10/5): - Beautiful, spacious place. You guys thought of everything. Only suggestion would be to change to door on the spare room as it is transparent glass.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This was a great place to stay-especially with two children. The unit was clean and tidy with an amazing VIEW!! The unit had a heat pump which was great as it was winter time when we stayed. There were plenty of blankets and pillows as well which was great.
Robert was an amazing host!! He was very kind and friendly. He checked in on us during our stay to make sure we were okay and left us to it.
He also took care of our left over food from our stay which was great as we were flying out and had no idea what to do with it. So not having to worry about that was one less stress for us.
Thank you Robert for making our stay such an enjoyable experience!! We are definitely coming back to stay in the future.
We would definitely recommend this place to stay to others!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely quiet accomodation with the host being really friendly and helpful. If you want peace and amazing views this is the place.
Certainly be back.
- Neil (8/5): - Great bush views, nice and quiet, very calming and relaxing, pity we stayed only 1 night
- Sandra (10/5): - Loved the location and scenery. Wished we could have stayed longer.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was very cozy, relaxing and a wonderful surprise as to where it is located.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We loved the calm surroundings, and beautiful nature views. The unit was very spacious. We felt welcome. We didn't like that the toilet wasn't private/ separate from the rest of bathroom and laundry, but we managed being family. We also found the drinking glasses not sparkling clean (it needed a wash in the dishwasher) and the cupboard where the crockery and glasses are kept was a little dusty
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great views, full kitchen, comfortable bed. Very happy with the accommodation and the hosts communication and availability.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely room beautiful view friendly and accomodating host
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The Equestrian was superb. Robert, the owner, was kindness himself and the location, high up in the hills, is fantastic.
