Guest Reviews
- Bryan (1/5): Pretty disappointed - I made a reservation but I never had anyone give me a room so I had to leave and go somewhere else That I can book on booking.com when I can’t stay in your hotel
- Green (1/5): -
- Lorenzo (2/5): Got what I paid for. - Close to where I ws headed too. Hair in shower from previous renter. Reception employee was not very welcoming or friendly
- Jim (1/5): -
- Jackie (1/5): I will never stay or my friends ever again - Room wasn't cleaned the next day. No fresh towels. No smoke alarm. Smoke alarm had been removed. Tv didn't work. Everything
- Amma (10/5): Exceptional - It was clean and, for the most part it was comfortable and needed better pillows Pillow
- Jarritt (4/5): Very dated - First off workers are great and just doing the best they can. We got there about 6:20 and check in was very rough. They have a very old system for taking payment took quite a while. First room they gave us the key lock did not work it just spun. They gave us another room and it worked. One nice thing is most rooms have covered parking. Our minivan fit under it just fine. Rooms are pretty small and very dated. Had 2 double beds and that took up most of the floor space. This is a theme in brownwood and early rooms are very expensive for what you get and thats not just here. Check out was very easy thankfully they just took the key.
- Glen (8/5): Very good -
- Todd (2/5): - There were a lot of people partying all night making loud noises and the property people did nothing. The room smelled like pee and the floors were completely dirty and I tried to change rooms but the said they couldn’t do that. The bed had bed bugs so I slept in my car and didn’t feel safe at all.
- Todd (2/5): - Just an all around not good place
- Charles (1/5): Bad -
- Melody (2/5): - The guy at the front desk was very rude when i checked in and came to my door at 11am and asked me if i was leaving yet. I was packing, making sure i didn't leave anything. He was just very rude and acted like he didn't want us there. My daughter and i were in town for a funeral, he just made our experience worse.
- Ralph (2/5): - Property needs cleaned up
- Ralph (2/5): - Needs updating
- Benjamin (7/5): Good -
- Katy (1/5): Staff was absolutely horrible and very rude - Nothing’s Staff
- Wayne (2/5): Don’t stay here - Check in was not so good. The lady that checked me in was very confused.
- Todd (6/5): - The property is well out dated. Needs some fixing up. They still us the key system. Do didn’t stay closed unless you locked the deadbolt. This place is more for people that need a place to stay long term.
- Gayle (4/5): - Unavailability of front office being accessable. Electrical plug in access in restroom for hair drting/shaver etc. not availabe. TV remotes & light switches dirty. Sheets appeared to b clean but were STAINED.
- Rebecca (1/5): Bad - Nothing I would not recommend this discriminating place to a homeless person
- Norman (8/5): Economical value, clean and manager was very friendly - Good price Air was not on when we arrived took 3 hours to cool off before we could sleep.
- Susan (8/5): I would stay here again. - I knew the facility was old and was expecting the worst but was pleasantly surprised by how very clean it was. It also had covered parking. The air conditioner worked and was quiet. The owner was friendly and helpful. The TV remote did not work well.
- Richard (6/5): - Need better service/ did not clean my room or more towels .
- alejandra (2/5): Horrible - On arrival, lady was rude from the get go. As she gave me my keys, she followed me to my car where she saw my service dog. She then said there was no pets allowed. I tried explaining to her that on the hotel website it clearly states “pet friendly”, if it didn’t I wouldn’t have booked it knowing I was bringing said service dog. She continued to say no & demanded I give her the keys & that she would give me a refund. I walk inside the building with her to get the refund when she told me it would cost extra for the dog to be here. I explained to her that it was a service dog & tried showing her his papers but she just didn’t want to hear it. With it being a busy weekend in brownwood every hotel within the 25mile radius was booked I had no choice but to pay the extra fee & stay at The Royal Inn. She gave me a new set of keys, which I thought was a little weird. Until we opened the door to the room & got a lingering smell of stale cigarettes. When I clearly requested for a non smoking room but because of my service dog she gave me a smoking room which really affected my asthma. Overall, horrible stay.
- Gustavo (8/5): Very good -
- Alfredo (7/5): Good -
- Jenny (1/5): Bad -
- Naomi (4/5): I will not stay again - Not alot So much noise on the middle of the night,,,did not have my room ready ,.check in was at 11am ,we got there after 1pm. THAY ACTED LIKE THAY DIDNOT KNOW I WAS COMING.
- Mary (8/5): Good stay for a small town - I didn't stay long enough to see if they served breakfast. The manager on duty was positively awful, I asked for his best room,. I was told I had the only room. Parking was covered, carports under the same roof. I was so pleasantly surprised with this room. I laughed how it reminded me of the Cozy Cone that Sally ran on CARS. Yucky attitude from the manager. He just wouldn't make eye contact in the entire time I was checking in.
- Robert (9/5): Superb - Garage. Easy to book. Easy at front desk. Maid was super nice. Easy departure. Would stay again. Good location for my destination. Great TV and Best internet speed in months of travel. Ice machine worked. Refrigerator worked. Nothing to not like.
- Robert (10/5): - As advertised ; good value ; clean ; nice front desk
- Sergio (9/5): clean, hot water, comfortable. I'm a simple man and this fit the bill. thank you - its a blast from the past. I was in a comfortable clean room, with instant hot water for showering. You cannot ask for more on the road. will stay here again. a foot rub
- Nancy (1/5): Don’t bother - Staff could not speak English. I was told they don’t take dogs even though they confirmed dogs. Dirty
- Kristiana (6/5): - Room did not look like rooms in picture. Looks like they are renovating property possibly.
- Saturian (3/5): Poor -
- Anonymous (3/5): I got what I paid for - a cheap stay with no reason to revisit. - That it was fairly priced and conveniently located. The area was extremely shady, the room was small and smelly, the A/C unit doesn’t provide a setting to continuously run, the floor creaks, the bathroom, especially the bathtub, was filthy, and I was subject to waking up to prostitutes having sex in the room next to me throughout the night.
- Ross (10/5): - Quiet location staff was friendly and helpful, ready to stay again
- Charles (10/5): - I like the comfortable rooms and the parking space with covered parking
- Crystal (10/5): - Great property great location
- 449rankink (8/5): A Good and Pleasant stay! - This is an older motel operated by the owners who were and are wonderful people who work hard to provide a good and pleasant stay. They purchased an older and not well maintained property 10 months ago and have cleaned it up and are making improvements. My wife and I came to Brownwood/Early for a high school football game. This was a one night stay. We do this often and we look a lower cost stay that is clean, adequately maintained, that provides excellent customer service and care and that has good basics like comfortable beds & pillows with good linens and covers. We value good quality air conditioning/heating. And, we are relational people so we value getting to know our hosts. And, we offer them support and encouragement. So, we highly recommend this family and their property and business. They are working to make it better every day. I hope you will give them a try and learn for yourself that they wish to earn your business.

- Kathy (8/5): - It was a nice place to stay that is affordable. One thing that was a little annoying is the cable box is behind tv so you have to get up and point it at back of tv to change channels. Other than that it was a good stay.
- Cassi (2/5): - It was filthy and disgusting and stunk like mildew and sewage. The towels in the bathroom weren't clean. I had to go to the store and spend 80$ on cleaning supplies to clean the room before I could relax. The owners are hateful and rude as well
- Armijo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Phillips (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (2/5): It was a bed to sleep in - Nothing The door is so badly damaged I wouldn't stay there in the winter and it's not secure at all.
- Alfredo (7/5): Good -
- Sandra (10/5): - Very nice people. Recently remodeled rooms. Clean room, great water pressure, and strong wifi.
- Joe (7/5): Good - Covered parking
- Joe (10/5): Outstanding commendations - It was excall the way around. The staff was friendly. The room was clean and also had covered parking next to the door. I will always stayhere when i visit.
- Bobby (10/5): Williams - Great! By request, we had a room with the Gas Heater in it. Cold front hit in the middle of the night and it heated perfect.
- Alexander (2/5): - Overpriced
- patrick (4/5): Rudeness - When checking in they were very rude and also when we checked out they were rude...
The bathroom sink was leaking very bad...I'm a general contractor, so instead of dealing with rudeness I fixed the leak myself.
- Bobby (10/5): - Great as usual!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff was great & helpful!! This was my 2nd stay at thus location & will be back!!
- Greg (2/5): Service Animals Allowed! - Never stayed here! English was not her 1st language. They would not allow my service dog, which was mentioned in our reservation.
- Bobby (10/5): Bobby Williams Again - Good as always.
- Sharon (2/5): Bad - I only stayed about 10 minutes. The room was very dirty. Needs a deep cleaning. Other customers where on their balcony screaming at each other. Scarey.
- Shanna (8/5): Clean, decent budget motel - For a low budget motel, it was good. The positives were: good, cold air; it smelled and looked clean; no bugs; great water pressure in the shower; nice towels, good hairdryer, the cinder block walls made it quiet, and there was separate covered parking for each room. The negatives: the bed was too firm for my taste, the pillows were like rocks, and there weren’t good covers, only a sheet and bedspread. If you stay, I recommend bringing your own pillows and a blanket. Overall though, it was a decent place for the money.
- Bobby (10/5): Another Brownwood visit. - All was well. Two-night stay.
- gary (8/5): Older but clean - Older property but clean and friendly service. It’s a motel, not a 5 star hotel so for it’s age it was very clean. Air conditioning unit was good and very cold. Has a wall heater. TV worked well with lots of channels. If you are not a hotel snob and want an inexpensive alternative this will work. Cover parking.
- Bobby (10/5): Another good stay. - Good as always. TV didn't work - called and informed them, then left for 45 minutes. Got back and TV was fixed.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Dirty, unsafe, unsanitary. Apparently a hub for criminal activity. No hot water in room. Sheets had cigarette burns. No deadbolt on door, had been broken in and patched together. Black mold on interior walls. Total nightmare and no way to get my money back. Place needs to be shut down for health code violations and lack of safety.
- Bobby (10/5): Bobby Williams - Great as always!
- Ashley (8/5): - Always a nice clean place
- Bobby (10/5): Bobby Williams - A second great stay. The place has a nostalgic feel. Some rooms even still have gas heaters. No problems at all.
- Bobby (10/5): Royal Inn - No problems at all.
- Misty (8/5): First Time in Texas! - I really loved that each room had its own car port. I had never seen that before! Everything was great and the guy at the front desk was very helpful and friendly.
The only thing I wasnt very fond of, was the bed. It was a little too firm for my liking and the noise it made when I rolled over, I felt like I might wake up the rest of the room.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The motel is in need of repairs. Doors do not seal properly allowing insects in the rooms from outside. Inside the rooms were clean, if you don’t look too close. Shower, toilets, sinks as furnishings cleaned but baseboards need attention and dust and debris in drawers and chair backs. The owners were nice but not organized, lots of mistakes.
- Robby (8/5): Pleasantly surprised - I was hesitant to stay at the Royal Inn because of the exterior appearance. It was very neat and tidy but outdated. We ended up booking because it was all that was available. We were very happy with our experience and intend to stay there in the future as a first choice. Although it’s an older hotel it is very clean. The cinderblock walls make it super quiet. And each room has its own carport. There are some nice picnic areas for outdoor eating too. The owner was very accommodating and friendly.
- Jennifer (10/5): Early Texas - It was surprisingly nice. Now when we travel to Brownwood we will be staying there.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Checking in was easy with the man at the counter and he nice enough to upgrade us. However, found bed bugs in my room, pillows had stains and so did sheets. Tried getting a refund from the lady but they declined. Left as soon as i checked in.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I liked having covered parking next to room. The room was cute
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property itself is a older style motel. It was remodeled a couple of years ago. This is our second stay in as many years. Clean and well kept. Check-In is old school, they have actual keys and not the fancy electronic key cars and your reservation will be in a ledger and not on a computer. Make sure to have a copy of your Expedia itinerary with you.
We had made a change in our plans several weeks prior for a 1 night instead of 2 night stay and it was not noted in their ledger.
The property is very quiet at night and enjoyable. Perfect for a quick layover.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Needs better heaters and showers. The plug in for hair dryer was on a light fixture you have to turn and almost break so can plug in
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The room appeared clean but I found multiple old food containers on a shelf in the bath room that the maid must have forgotten to trash out from the previous tenants. the worst was yet to come because Sunday morning when I wanted a hot shower there was no hot water to be had. obviously I am not a happy camper.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Place well maintain out side for the age of property
- shawnee51 (2/5): Do not waste your time or money. - We stayed one night and that was too long in this room. Room was awful. Bed was hard. The air conditioner was in the bathroom.... Who puts an air conditioner in a bathroom!!! Needless to say... Bathroom was the only thing cold. The room itself never cooled off. Hot and stuffy, couldn't sleep. Shower was black in the corners. There was no water pressure. Got up the next morning and found a bug in the bed... Nasty. They don't believe in Softner.... Towels were rough. Will not stay there again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Staff was friendly. Everything was in good working order
- Verified traveler (2/5): DO NOT STAY HERE - Horrible! We just needed a room for the night and decided on this place because the reviews were ok. BUT the window unit did not get cold, there were stains on the bedding, a crack under the door that a snake or rat could come in, etc.....the manager could not and would not speak to us. We just left! We went to a much nicer hotel. We wasted money but we felt safer. The thing that worries me is that this manager has my name, address snd other info!!!!! Awful! DO NOT STAY HERE!
- BobShelton (8/5): The price is good and the room is clean. - I stop here about every year or so and have always ben pleased with the room. I do like the covered garage most of all because I can get my vehicle in out of the weather. It is a budget motel but is clean and comfortable.
- Christopher (6/5): I wanted to pay cash - When I checked in I asked if I could pay cash when I checked out and the clerk said yes. But she swiped my card anyways to put the money on hold which I understand. But when I went to go pay cash she didnt understand what I was saying (English was not her 1st language) so she called someone else to "translate"/speak to me. I explained to him that I was trying to pay cash for the room and he seemed ok with that until she told him she had already swiped my card the day prior. So apparently that swipe wasnt just to secure funds but also charged my card!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean, friendly front office lady. It's outdated, but hey who really cares about that. It's a clean place to sleep and shower. That's all we needed so it was good for the price.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great little non-chain motel. Excellent for the price point and rural location. Staff eager to cater to personal requests
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property was small room was small but everything was clean ... beds was a lil firmer than my liking but still comfortable ... I wish they had a broom n dust pan in the room because it was a rainy weekend n we tracked n a bit of dirt so it would have been nice to have a broom but other than that location was easy to find front desk guy was very friendly room was clean it’s good for the price and it was pet friendly ..... would book again if we r in the area ...
- Verified traveler (2/5): Don’t recommend - The staff were not nice and they were argumentative
- L1162PQmichaelm (4/5): good beds - Stayed 2 nights. First night, room too hot to sleep until about 3 a.m., a/c inefficient. Complimentary " continental breakfast " served from 6 till 9 is a joke. Office remained locked until 8:45, and when I asked about breakfast, the woman pointed to 2 small cereal dispensers on the windowsill, with your choice of stale fruit loops type cereal as well as stale corn flakes -- that was it, no milk, juice, or anything else.
- Notnormaldot (10/5): Comfortable room/good value - We got a room w/2 beds. The room was clean & comfortable. We had to call the office for a couple of minor things & everyone was friendly & accommodating. I forgot the plug for my cell phone & they were happy to help by loaning me one. They had internet & direct TV as well as coffee in the room. The shower was hot & the AC worked good. (I think being out of the sun under shade of the carport really helps w/the efficiency of the Air conditioners here.) And, there are grills & picnic tables in the shade that are available for your use as well as refrigerators & microwaves in the rooms. We stayed in #39 & were able to park right outside our door. I definitely recommend this place. Use the money you save & go out to eat.
- O527FQkarenc (8/5): Good place to stay - I had to travel to Dallas on the weekend prior to Christmas. It was about 8:30 p.m. on a Saturday night. I was alone and the clerk let me have a double room for a single room price. The credit card machine messed up and charged me twice. I didn't notice until a couple of days later. I called and Mr Patel took care of it right away. This place is clean, warm and not that expensive. I would stay here again.
- BobShelton (8/5): Pretty good value - I travel through Brownwood several times a year and often stay at the Royal Inn. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the prices are fair. I like the covered garage next to my room, where I can get my motorcycle (or car) out of the weather.
- BobShelton (8/5): A good return trip - I had stayed here once before and was pleased with the accommodations, so I decided to stay here again. I was pleased with the availability of covered parking next to my room. It was clean and comfortable and had everything that I required.
- jodyNewMexico (2/5): Don't Wast Your Money - The positive: It was clean and easy to access.
The negative: The bright East Indian decor did not appeal to me. The breakfast consisted of Fruit Loops and Bran Flakes. No milk. No coffee when we went at 9 am, although there was coffee in the room. The electrical socket in the bathroom did not work with my blow dryer. The double room was TINY. There was no literature in the room for tv channels and internet connection.
- annetN5970FB (10/5): Great little place! - We had a fine stay here! Was pleasantly surprised that we could part our car right beside the door in a covered carport! Never seen that before! Beds comfy, very clean, ac great, tv great, wi-fi great! also , very friendly & helpful staff gave us extra towels & coffee, directed us to a fine restaurant. Plus--great price! Will stay here again.
- BobShelton (8/5): A good stop in a busy day - I had never stayed at the Royal Inn before and was very pleased with the accommodations. The price range was fair and the rooms were clean and comfortable. I was pleased that I had a garage space to park in, out of the weather, next to the front door of the room.
- Beckyxchange (8/5): Awesome staff! - I recently had to visit Brownwood because my Mother was in the hospital there. I was on a tight budget and spent most of my time at the hospital but needed a place to sleep. The staff was very kind and understanding. The room was very clean and had free WiFi . I would highly recommend this motel.
- lynnd1949 (10/5): Great - Right on Hwy 377 and very easy to get to on my way to deliver in Brownwood, TX. Nice room, cell service in the area is not the best. It has a microwave, frig and truck parking. Very reasonable rate under $55. Will stay again if in the area. Stayed here November 30,2014
