- Ruth (10/5): Clean, comfortable welcoming stay - with little touches of luxury! - The bedroom was gorgeous - clean and comfortable. The shower was amazing!! The location was great and the staff were really welcoming. Would definitely go back If I really had to be pushed… the carpark was small. But I think that was because the place was so popular.
- TRACEY (10/5): A perfect place to stay overnight for my daughter and I on our trip to Totnes - Great location, lovely old pub and beautifully decorated clean room and bathroom
- David (10/5): Fantastic - Not many rooms so parking easy . A bonus in Totnes ! Only a 3 to 4 minute pleasant stroll to the bottom of the high street . Comfy beds . very spacious bathroom . Staff were all very friendly and helpful , in a nice and comfortable bar area . £15 breakfast was really great ! Would definitely stay again if in Totnes .

- Jackie (10/5): Very enjoyable, attentive staff and great location. - The location and the amazing staff, comfortable room. We were on the top floor and my mum had trouble getting upstairs. However this was my error as I didn’t think to say she has a disability. We managed though thanks to the staff assisting with our luggage. Very helpful.
- Stephen (10/5): Staff were absolutely charming and helpful - One of the friendliest and most comfortable inns I have ever stayed in. The location was excellent The food was as delicious and the staff could not have been more helpfull . Thank you! Location, riverside terrace and comfortable room

- Ludford (10/5): Excellent facilities absolutely no interaction by staff they appeared not to care we we there. Stood for 10 minutes wait - Fantastic accommodation The stairs!
- Dale (9/5): Really enjoyable stay in a prime riverside location and short walk to town centre. - Lovely room in a quiet location. We had dinner in the restaurant - very good. They had a water leak, that evening, which meant no hot water available. They gave us a complimentary breakfast to make up for it - also very good.
Staff super friendly and attentive.
- mike (9/5): Lovely overnight stop in Totnes - Nice relaxing stay at a friendly pub
- patricia (5/5): Average, for the price of the room expected more - Breakfast lacked variety.would have liked fresh juice and more cereal variety. Coffee too liquorishy.poached egg on toast should have 2 slices of toast and garnish
- Georgina (10/5): Great place, breakfast was excellent - Very clean and comfortable
- Jen (8/5): Fantastic accommodation, very clean, delicious food, helpful staff 😊 - Lovely, spacious room; well decorated,; with large bathroom (huge bath and separate shower); very comfortable bed; great WiFi; large tv; extra touches like the scrummy home made gingerbread biscuit and fridge with real milk for tea/ coffee. Delicious steak dinner, helpful staff, and freshly cooked to order breakfast - can’t fault this hotel on room facilities, cleanliness, food quality, location, or staff helpfulness. It wasn’t the cheapest, but you get what you pay for - I will certainly be back 😊 Nothing
- Kathryn (8/5): Comfortable, convenient, charming room and venue - Charming room Heating - despite unseasonal warmth on Wednesday, the room was quite cold. Bathroom a bit smelly.
- Ian (9/5): -
- Esther (10/5): A fabulous night in the heart of Totnes. Very friendly, accommodating staff. The rooms very tastefully decorated. - The rooms were well equipped and beautifully decorated! Nothing
- Julie (10/5): A great bolthole in Totnes - Everything, but the wonderful, friendly, and helpful staff are to be noted especially. Having to leave! Seriously it could not have been improved on.
- Jon (9/5): Perfect place to stay in exploring this wonderful town - Everything Nothing
- rebecca (10/5): Brilliant....can't fault a thing !! - Great location and free parking ...fantastic friendly staff, rooms spotless and comfortable. Food also great !! had a vegan burger (beyond meat)....had hundreds of these lol....one of the best. Even managed to shield from the seagulls lol! Would deffo stay again without hesitation.
- Caroline (10/5): We loved the location and relaxed atmosphere . The staff were very friendly and helpful. - Beautiful location , lovely staff. Food was excellent .
- Sean (10/5): -
- James (8/5): Great. Would recommend. - Great staff, the room I had was better than I expected. Not so much a “what didn’t I like” as a point for consideration for other guests who are less nimble. The staircase access is a little tight & winding.
- Rose (9/5): Fab couple of day break to chill out eat good food and have a few drinks. Our perfect break - Great location, clean and comfortable. The staff were very attentive and helpful Nothing
- barrett (10/5): An enjoyable comftable night away in a great value for money Inn - The food was excellent, we had a delicious evening meal and breakfast, with some good vegetarian options. The staff were very attentive, friendly and helpful. Impressed they carried our bags as the room was on the top floor. The room was spacious, clean and comftable with a lovely view of the river. A good value for money hotel. That we couldn't run a bath in the beautiful free standing bath as the chain for the plug wasn't long enough and as it was attached we couldn't put the plug in.
We booked through booking.com and hadn't realised our breakfast wasn't included in the price. It was such a wonderful breakfast we were happy to pay but would have preferred to see how much the pub as bed and breakfast was.
- Steven (10/5): Great property with parking - Had a fantastic visit. The location is beautiful, accomodation charming. The was nothing to dislike.
- steve (10/5): owner and staff very approachable , nothing was to much trouble - clean room comfortable bed good pillows and excellent breakfast
- Julie (10/5): Wonderful stay, would highly recommend - The room number 2 was lovely, spotless and a fab bathroom. The tea tray and attention to detail was lovely, it was warm and everything worked with tasteful decor and shutters. The food and staff were brilliant and we thoroughly enjoyed the feel of the pub. Breakfast was lovely and we had two lovely dinners in the evening. The car park was quite small, however they did reserve spaces for guests staying, there was little to complain about in fact this is the only thing.
- Tim (10/5): We will visit again. - Location, staff, room was fantastic with all details thought out. Nothing
- Bridget (8/5): Really enjoyed the location, so close to town, room comfortable. Staff exceptional. - Breakfast fantastic, staff amazing. Very well looked after thank you .
Room number 1 beautiful views and perfect size. Meat tough for evening meal.
- Deana (8/5): -
- Charles (9/5): warm welcome super friendly staff, great pub atmosphere with a good choice of homemade food. Lovely - Lovely room with plantation blinds at the window, super comfy bed with feather filled pillows. Homemade cookie, filter coffee and fresh milk were also a nice touch. Great shower with plenty of pressure. Nothing to not like
- Leonie (10/5): - Great position. Comfortable bed. Good food. Friendly staff
- danielle (10/5): Perfect! - Great location. The room was beautiful, roll top bath was lovely. Staff were friendly. The food was delicious and the outside terrace overlooks the river. A perfect stay.
- Joan (8/5): Love the position and the room we have. Staff are always helpful. - We have stayed there a few times and love the location on the river. Easy to walk into Totnes. The shower needs to be updated.
- Charlotte (9/5): - Lovely room, very clean. Shower pressure wasn't great.
- Julie (10/5): - Everything was amazing and we shall return. There was only one hand towel and one bath towel between 2 of us
- Suzanne (10/5): - Booked a room last minute and was really impressed by the standard of the accommodation and the polite, friendly staff - food in the restaurant was great, service excellent. Will definitely be back!
- Stacy (9/5): Lovely building, location. Comfortable. Recommended. - Location right at the bottom of Town, lovely clean rooms and comfortable bed. Super easy check-in and lovely staff. Gorgeous little pub. It was quite warm in the room, I appreciate that it was called the weekend we stayed and the central heating is very common in the UK.
I was able to turn off the radiator and open the window so not really something not like just a observation.
- Victor (8/5): -
- Tim (8/5): Great location & breakfast - Location by River Dart is lovely and easy walk to main town centre. Breakfast deal and actual food excellent and good value. Staff friendly and helpful staying open when our arrival was delayed. Steep winding stairs tricky with suitcase.
- STEVE (8/5): Great find in Totnes - Lovely location, rally nice room and fab bathroom with rain shower
Really friendly helpful staff Food was only okay at best .. gammon steak in the evening was really fatty and not good quality.
Breakfast... the eggs on toast were drowned in cooking oil
The food was well presented and hot though, just need to up the standard a little
- Charlotte (10/5): wonderful :) - Loved the room / staff and pint of Guinness n/a
- Katie (10/5): Homely, good value over great little pub. Really friendly staff - On the river, cosy pub, comfy bed, filter coffee and tea.
- Paul (9/5): -
- Alice (10/5): Lovely place to stay at a quieter time of year. - Staff were great and helpful with our need for slightly early breakfast on a Sunday. Room very comfy had a great night’s sleep. Food lovely. Would definitely stay again.
- Sian (10/5): -
- David (8/5): - The location
- Sophie (9/5): Great place to stay - Great location - quiet and cosy. Nothing really
- Vincent (8/5): -
- emma (6/5): Staff were very accommodating - Great location Clean, homely - warm and friendly
- Natasha (9/5): Fabulous location. Fabulous stay. - Beautiful location and a lovely building. The room was fabulous and mixed modern with the original building perfectly. The staff are really friendly and were incredibly accommodating even though the pub was packed!! I would definitely return!! I’m not a great fan of having the bath in the bedroom. I was particularly looking forward to a hotel with a bath but just don’t feel comfortable bathing in the bedroom. That’s all personal choice though, I’m sure some love it.
- Sarah (5/5): Good nights sleep, but didn't feel it was value for money - Bed was comfortable. The room was reasonably clean. Fresh coffee maker in the rom The room seemed rather tired and shabby. The basin was cracked, there was only one bedside table as the room was small. The switches for the bedside lights were not located in an easy position to turn on and off.
- Janette (8/5): -
- Virginia (9/5): -
- Janet (9/5): A well run comfortable hotel that serves good food. - Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Excellent food at breakfast for a good price.
The pub served lovely food in the evening
Excellent location for town and the room had a beautiful view of the river. Room was slightly small. This did not matter for a 1 night stay though
- Trish (8/5): Good value for money! - Great location on the river & easy walk into Totnes which was wonderful… we will be back! We picked cozy double & it was exactly that but large shower room - next time would book a larger room!
- Carol AYTON (10/5): - Albeit only a single night's stay, the whole experience was 'a breath of fresh air' to me amidst an emotionally stressful time. I was met by a very courteous young man who politely escorted me to my room. The room itself was extremely spacious, tastefully designed, furnished and we'll-presented. I would not hesitate to return.
- Carol AYTON (10/5): - This was my second overnight stay at the Steam Packet Inn which I found to be equally as refreshing as my previous. This time I was allocated a different room which was of comparable standard and which fulfilled my needs. Yet again I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful which adds to the pleasure of one's stay.
- Lucy (9/5): Very enjoyable - One of the bedrooms was very hot despite rads off and could not open window
- Melanie (10/5): - The room was lovely, location great and staff extremely helpful.
- Charles (8/5): Nice location, very good food for dinner, most of the staff friendly and helpful. - Dinner was very good, booking in was good. most of the staff were very helpful and friendly.
Lindsey was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was very slow, people came in after us (10 minutes) and got their breakfast before ours.
Price for breakfast was not explained, eggs on toast price as £9, but their did not mention this did not include Tea or Coffee or juice, each priced individually.
- Craig (8/5): -
- Don (10/5): Very good - Wonderful staff
- Tim (10/5): - 1. Room: We stayed in room #2. It was exactly what we wanted: two separate comfortable beds and a lovely bathroom with shower. There was nothing we didn't like.
- Oscar (8/5): Beautiful room in a lovely pub next to the river ! -
- Price (10/5): A weekend to remember - The room was excellent. Very clean. Staff were clearly professional and everything was to a high standard. We had a bit of a mare the second night, however the staff were quick to rectify this, professional in the way they handled it and more than accommodating. Quite a few small spiders in the room especially around the window and some dust on surfaces. However it is an old building and to be expected.
- Natalie (9/5): Perfect bolthole for Totnes exploration. - I thought it was really excellent value. Large, quiet, clean room, and roll-top both a real bonus. 10am check out is a little early - 11am would be amazing.
- Ruth (10/5): Comfortable, friendly and very good location! - Friendly staff, comfortable room, clean and good location. A little bit expensive for a room in a pub out of season.
- Kathryn Helen (10/5): Steam Packet Inn thank you. I will be returning soon - Breakfast could have been included in the price
- Keith (8/5): - very comfortable Charging £15 for breakfast when when what you actually ordered was shown on the menu for less cost!!!!
- david (9/5): A good new entry into our travels - Great location. Friendly staff. Good food.
- Janet (9/5): - beautifully decorated large room in character inn with a real open fire in the pub which was lovely, reasonably priced menu and lovely location by river, just 5 minute walk into Totnes town. Very peaceful as the road is quiet outside. the check out at 10am was too early for me and didn't make sense as there are only a few rooms there and check in not possible until after 3? otherwise would give 10 out of 10, however I would return
- kenneth (10/5): -
- Isabel (7/5): -
- lee (10/5): -
- Alexander (7/5): Very welcome end to a stressful day. - A very welcome breakfast that easily allowed for my boiled eggs on a toast. There was a limited menu on arrival . If I had known beforehand I would seriously have considered another restaurant.
